InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The 2 Great Swords ❯ Moonless Night ( Chapter 2 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

On the hills outside the castle's walls, lay many villages under the direct protection of the king. It was on one of these roads that a boy of about 17 years walked completely alert as he surveyed the area taking in everything. He was dressed in all red with a sword at his side, an heirloom from his past. His features included claws, fangs and two triangular shaped ears on his head.

Except he wasn't human, nor demon either. He was a half-demon, one who stories portrayed as cruel and weak, a mistake that never should have happened, an abomination.

Not that these stories held any truth in the half demon, he simply did what was necessary to survive. If that included stepping over people who thought him to be as such, then so be it.

He looked up sniffing the air. Being a dog half-demon, he relied heavily on smells to live. `Hmmm…just a bunch of humans around her no real threats. Wait…' He spun around to see a small fox demon kit barreling towards him looking like he was ready to collapse, although not from exhaustion.

“Please! You've… got to… help… my parents! Wait!” He got out between breathes and pants.

He came to a stop in front of the half-demon and looked up with pleading eyes, “Please you have to help my parents! A demon attacked and they couldn't get away. Please before they die!”

The half-demon bent down and picked up the kit by his tail. “Why should I? It doesn't matter to me if your parents get killed. Who are you anyways?” he asked sniffing the small demon.

The kit looked like he had just been smacked as his eyes welled up with tears. “What? What do you mean? Can't you help them? Please I'll do anything!” He pleaded with his eyes stretched to abnormal proportions.

The half demon dropped him before turning away fully intent on leaving the kit to fend for him when an unwelcome emotion stopped him. Pity.

He angrily looked up to the sky to see the sun starting to drop behind the mountains to the west. He was already becoming human and as such was feeling human emotions he'd rather not have.

All half demons have a night where there demonic powers leave them, rendering them human. On such nights, the half demon, now human, usually hides themselves for fear of being killed. His night happened to fall on the night of the new moon.

Inwardly cursing at what he was about to do, he picked up the kit and leapt in the direction of the demon. “Fine runt. I'll help you but lets make this quick. I don't have all the time in the world.”

The kit nodded some of the tears disappearing. “Thank you. My name's Shippou. What's yours?”
The half demon debated this and, after figuring he'd probably never see this kid again, answered. “It's Inuyasha runt. Now let's go save your parents.”

The bull demon snarled as more arrows hit him, bouncing off uselessly. At 25 feet tall, he didn't have to worry about human weapons. He spun around and leapt at the would-be heroes, scattering them with his horns, killing them instantly.

He was hut hard in the back by fire and spun around to see two fox demons hurling fox-fire at him. He chuckled to himself at their feebly attempts as he ran them through on his horns as they tried too slowly to escape.

“MOTHER! FATHER!” came a ringing voice as the bull spun around to see a kit standing in horror besides a half demon screaming at the top of his lungs at the sight of his parents hanging from his horns, dead.

“Ha ha ha. Little fox do you wish to join them? I will gladly oblige your wish!” He jumped at them fully intent on further adding more victims to his horns. Inuyasha however punted the kid out of the way before he could be killed and jumped to the other side. Too slowly.

The horn cut a deep gash through his leg and he fell backwards. `Damn it. I'm already weakening. I have to finish this quickly' He thought drawing his sword and pointing it to the bull. The bull laughed at this.

“Ha ha ha. Half breed! How do you expect to beat me! You are tainted with the blood of humans and as such are weak!”

“Shut up! I'll make you eat those words!” He lunged at him and before the bull could maneuver out of the way, took off a horn dislodging Shippou's mother's corpse.

“How dare you!” He shook his head sending Shippou's father flying into the forest and charged. Inuyasha's strength was waning fast as the sun began to set. The bull tore open his side as he tried to doge, narrowly escaping being impaled.

“Shit!” Inuyasha hit the ground hard tearing open the wound even more. Before he could react the bull moved to try to devour him lunging with its mouth open wide. But only catching the other leg in his mouth.
“I'll kill you half breed filth!” He began shaking his head trying to tear him in two. However, doing this had brought himself within striking distance of Inuyasha's sword and without hesitating, Inuyasha plunged it into the demon's skull.

With a shriek of pain the bull collapsed to the ground with the sword still buried in his skull as Inuyasha was sent flying to the ground. Blood flying everywhere.

He coughed out blood as he tried to move. “Shit. These human emotions are going to get me killed.” He groaned as his body gave out and had a perfect view of seeing the sun finally dip down signaling night. With his demonic strength fading he couldn't heal properly and he slowly resigned himself to the fact that he was going to die.

His life flashed before him, seeing all the times he was happy, with his mother. Then he revisited a memory he wished would fade, his mothers horrific death. `No, I have to go on for her sake. I need to… get… Vengeance... ' He vaguely heard the cries of Shippou as he lost consciousness.

With a cry Shippou ran to his body and started prodding him. “Inuyasha? Are you alright? Inuyasha?” He saw he was human and realized that this guy was a half demon. The poor fox at this point just sat down and began to weep. He wept for his lost parents and now this person he had possibly just killed by getting him involved in this mess.

He was jerked out of his crying by the sound of approaching men. He saw they were from the castle and bolted, knowing full well what would happen to him if he was found in the middle of this carnage.

He spun around and watched as they inspected the scene for a few minutes and then turned around. He overheard them talking and one was ordered to tell the king. He swallowed harshly. The king was known for his cruelty to half demons, and although Inuyasha looked human now… when and if he reverted back to being a half-demon he'd be in trouble. He had to do something but what…

He knew he couldn't get Inuyasha away from here with his own strength and if he didn't do something he'd be captured. His eyes turned to the sword implanted in the demons head. Praying he had more time he formulated a plan. Surely he'd be safe for a few days? If he got the sword then he could probably be ok!

As soon as the men began inspecting other corpses, he quickly darted over to the sword and yanked it out, stumbling backwards with its weight. He began to drag the sword into the forest. `I'll have to get this to him later, I got him into this and I'll get him out of it! Otherwise my father would never forgive me' He vowed while his eyes were overflowing as he lugged the sword away to give his parents a burial.

A.N. The sword is NOT Tetsusaiga. It's just a sword, the only real thing is it's stronger than a normal sword. If he had Tetsusaiga things would be too easy so it won't be a part of this.
