“Shut up and I'll spare you.” Inuyasha said in a now more canine voice, his eyes boring into her promising pain. “I need to get out of here and you'll do exactly what I say or else I won't hesitate to kill you.”

Kagome was shocked at this and she started to tremble and whimper. At this Inuyasha growled. “Quiet down already.” Her eyes started to mist over with tears and he lost it. “Hey! Don't cry stupid girl! I don't want to have to hurt you so shut up.”

He dragged her up roughly and opened the door a crack and stared out. `He doesn't want to hurt me? First he threatens to…now he says…' She was hopelessly confused. Seeing the corridor was empty he crept out still holding her, keeping his ears trained for any noise. From there he made it out of the infirmary and into the hallway.

She looked at her captor in wonder. `Just what is he?' A soft flick of movement at the top of her head caught her gaze and she gasped behind his head. `Those are, dog ears?' She suddenly had an urge to touch them but before she could grab them he growled and leapt into the air.

Suspended 12 feet in the air, he lodged himself in the wooden constructs of the ceiling as some guards passed beneath them talking to each other. Once they were past them he dropped down and continued his way until he got outside.

Looking around he noticed a lack of people that was until he stepped outside. “AHHH! A monster!!!” he cursed sharply as a woman turned and ran alerting every one he wanted to avoid. Seeing no alternative he ran, not releasing his hostage as his wounds pained him.

He was almost at the wall, just a little more and he was free. A twang of a bowstring as an arrow flew by burying itself at his feet. He halted abruptly and turned to see 20 odd guards coming towards him with the king. His hesitation allowed 10 more to block his route to freedom.

“Half-breed,” came the voice of the king in a tone of hatred. “Release her this instant you filth!” Kagome looked shocked. Never had her father spoken to another living creature with such hatred. Not even the spies he had found over the years. Her thoughts were cut short as a claw was pressed against her throat.

“Don't move, any of you or else she dies.” He half said, half growled at the men around them. They all stopped.

“How dare you threaten her you piece of trash release her now or I will make your death excruciating.” He didn't back down. “How did you get in here anyways?” his eyes traveled to Inuyasha's clothes. “You…you were in the middle of your human time eh? Those wounds must be painful for you even if you are a half-breed.”

At these words a particularly brave soldier let loose an arrow into his injured side. He buckled but didn't let go of her. “You were warned!” Kagome closed her eyes waiting for what was about to happen. It never came. She looked up at Inuyasha's face to see conflict in his eyes. She realized he couldn't do it.

He dropped her to the ground, and attempted to leap away but was brought down by a half dozen arrows. He fell to the ground as his wounds reopened, splattering blood over the ground, and blacking out. “Take him away to the dungeon.” Akira bellowed at the nearest soldier.

He made his way over to Kagome. She didn't acknowledge his movements as she stared at Inuyasha. `Why? He didn't kill me, why?' She didn't register her father helping her up. `He was afraid, that's why. He never really wanted to kill me but he was afraid and took me hostage because of it.'

“Kagome are you alright?” She looked up at nodded not trusting her voice after this ordeal. “Good.” He looked up at the retreating forms of his guards. “Don't worry, that filth won't live for much longer. He'll be executed in three days I think. I'm sure the wolf prince would be delighted to see his demise.” He smirked.

She was shocked for what had to be the eighth time that day. She couldn't believe her father seemed happy about killing another person. It just didn't seem possible. Another thought struck her. `If he didn't kill me and he fought that demon at the village even thought he was weaker than usual, he can't be all bad right?' She had to find out.

She ignored the part about Kouga coming to watch. It was the last thing she wanted to think about and with her father like this, persuading him in any way, shape or form was impossible. All she knew was that she had to rest and think.

Said prince was on his way to the North kingdom from the east, quite pleased with the journey. His thoughts drifted to who he would see in just a couple of days. He didn't particularly like the Northern kingdom but he'd go through anything to have Kagome. She was his even if she didn't know it yet.

He looked ahead to see a lone figure in the middle of the path. He called a halt to hid entourage and stepped towards the figure. He recognized him as Naraku, one of the councilmen of the Northern kingdom. He always struck him as untrustworthy and didn't like him much. What he was doing here was beyond him.

He told his guards to stop and went to met Naraku alone. Whatever the reason it had to be a big deal and something his men didn't need to hear. “Naraku right? What brings you out here? Surely your kingdom isn't in trouble.” He stopped two feet from Naraku.

“No, no it is fine. For now anyways. I come to you with a proposal.” He began in a underhanded tone.

Kouga didn't like this. “What do you mean not yet? And what's this proposal?” He glared at him suspiciously.

“I have word that the northern kingdom is at an end. The king's health is failing and he shall be dead soon. This news has attracted many demons to attack while he is weak. The castle will fall.” It was a blatant lie of course but a needed one for his plan.

“Humph. I don't give a damn what happens to the castle just so long as one person in it is safe. Now what of this proposal.” He wanted to get to the point. It was interesting even if he didn't trust the demon.

Naraku held out a sword encased in a purple sheath and surrounded with malevolent energy. Its very aura brought Kouga to nausea. “This is a sword of great power, named Muramasa, surely you've heard of it?”

“How did you come to possess such a thing? It was sealed away a long time ago. It's nothing but trouble.” He knew what it was. He'd heard the stories of it annihilating everything in its path.

“I am willing to give it to you. Unless of course, you are too weak to handle such a weapon.” She smirked subtlety as the wolf growled at the doubt of his abilities. “The castle cannot be helped but in the aftermath I shall take over. I propose that we join our two kingdoms and unite this land. Give me the North Kingdom and the girl you desire is yours.”

He had the ultimate bargaining chip that Kouga would do anything for. “Fine,” he said grasping the hilt of Muramasa and shoving it in his belt. “I agree to your terms but you better not be deceiving me or I shall cut you down with your own gift. Understood?”

Naraku nodded. `Fool! I can feel it now, the sword's corruption is spreading and he is the perfect host with his greed. Soon, he shall be merely a puppet and will server my purposes.' “I understand. Turn around and wait, you shall have the girl in 4 days after the castle falls.”

Kouga spun around and went back to his entourage feeling smug with himself. “Yeah, yeah just don't disappoint me.” `Heh, this guy is incredibly stupid, He gives me such a powerful toy and leaves himself with nothing. What an idiot.'

Naraku turned to go. His absence would be noticed and he had to return. He had all the pieces in place and he was in control. There was only one abnormality he hadn't considered. A certain half-demon he had wronged greatly a long time ago could ruin everything.
