The Beginning of the End
Chapter 2

“ kagome!” shippo whined. “We’ve been walking all day!
When are we going to stop and camp?”
“ soon shippo soon. It’s almost dark anyways.”kagome answered.
she glanced back at inuyasha and saw that he was hurt.
‘oops, mabey I took it a little to far with the sit’s.
mabey I should apologize.’
“ um shippo, could you please walk with sango and miroku?” She lowered
her voice.” I want to talk to inuyasha.”
“ ok “ said the little kitusine as he ran and jumped on sango’s
shoulder, preventing her from stopping miroku’s hand as it crept toward
her butt causing her to slap his face .
kagome slowed down and walked next to inuyasha.” hey”
he looked at her.” what do you want?” he growled
“ are you still mad at me?”
“ now why would I be mad.” he asked sarcastically.
Kagome sighed “ look im sorry I said ’ IT’ . I didn’t want to hurt your
feelings, really. Will you forgive me? Please?”
“ kagome... just go away!” he snarled.
Kagome stopped in front of him.
“ move now! Before I make you !” he growled at her.
“ no. not till you tell me what is wrong.” she protested,
standing firmly in front of him.
“ im mad and you know why!”
“ that’s not all. What else is wrong and don’t you lie to me,
I can tell when you lie.”
Inuyasha was taken back. ‘shit! Did she figure out I was thinking
about what miroku said? About me wanting to protect her? No, she
couldn’t have. She wasn’t even there.’ “it’s ...it’s nothing really.
Just thinking about last night. What miroku had said. Its nothing.”
She eyed him suspiciously, then her eyes softened. She placed a hand
on his arm. “ inuyasha.” she said quietly. “ you can talk to me about
anything, you know.”
“ but I told you the truth, I did! really!” he said
“ I know, but I don’t think you told me everything. But it is up to
you wether or not you want to tell me.” shr sighed. “ I can’t make
you.”
Inuyasha placed a hand over hers. “ thanks for understanding kagome.”
he said quietly, like he always did when saying something important
or personal.
She smiled at him and started to say your welcome when sango’s voice
cut her off. “ what are you two doing?! Come on were camping up here!
There’s a cave. Move it you two lovebirds!”
They both blushed and kagome ran to sango. “ you start saying that
ill kick your ass!
“ alright im sorry. I didn’t know what you were doing.”
“ we were talking, is that alright with you.”kagome snapped.
“ ok, okay im sorry, but it didn’t look like that to me.”
sango mumbled.
“ what was that?!” kagome asked angrily.
“ oh nothing I just had to clear my throat.” sango said coughing
a bit.
“ it didn’t sound like that to me.” inuyasha said as he came up
behind kagome, eyes flashing.
“ thought you would with those ears.” sango taunted.
“ why you!” inuyasha made a dive for sango and was held back by
kagome and miroku to the best of their abilities.
“ ill suck you in with my kanzanna if you touch her!” miroku
threatened
“ inuyasha, don’t make me say ‘IT’ “ kagome hissed in his ear
.Inuyasha stopped fighting and growled. “ watch your back.”
“ come on you couldn’t hurt one another. Look, go get some fire wood,
you too miroku.” kagome gave the boys a little shove and they left
grumbling.

“ so, kagome, what’s going on between you two?” sango asked her as
kagome lit the fire using some small twigs and matches.
“ nothing, Its just,” she sighed. “ I wish he would pay more attention
to other peoples feelings, you know? Its like he was raised by a pack
of wolves.” she shook her head
“ hey!” came an angry voice. “ I heard that last remark kagome!”
she turned around and saw inuyasha and miroku. Each carrying an armful
of branches. “ that’s an insult. You know how I feel about wolves,
especially koga.” he growled.
“ it was a figure of speech. I know you hate them but they can be
really nice if you get to know them.” she said taking some branches
from his arms. “ don’t take it so personally.” she said smiling.
“ feh, whatever.” he went and sat down just outside the cave and
stared off into space.
Kagome shook her head and tended to the fire. Soon it was hot enough
to cook some things she brought. “ dinnertime!” she called. Everyone
except inuyasha came over and started to eat. Kagome noticed this and
brought a dish over to him. “ hungry?” she asked him. He didn’t look
over at her until she sat down and leaned against him. He looked down
in surprise and saw that she was crying. “ im sorry for what I said ear
lier. If you want me to leave I will.”
He looked at her and lifted her head. “ im sorry.” he whispered,
wiping away tears. “ I didn’t mean to upset you. I was just in a deep
thought.
Kagome smiled and sat back away from him. “ I know I was just bein...”
suddenly the ground started to shake and not to far from the fire,
a point started to cave in and a giant scorpion came out of the ground.
Inuyasha pushed kagome behind him and sango grabbed her hiraikotsu.
The scorpion shot its tail at sango and miroku and they jumped out of
the way. The tail left a giant crater right where they had been standing.
“ kagome! Do you see any shards?!” inuyasha asked her.
Kagome looked. “ yes there one in the tail!”
“ alright then.” inuyasha said, pulling out tessiga. He ran at the
demon who took a swing at inuyasha knocking him off balance.” ahhhhh!”
he fell back and landed on the ground.
“ inuyasha!” sango yelled she swung her boomerang at the demon.
“ hiraikotsu!” One of the demons arms was cut off “ inuyasha!
Try to get it now!”
she yelled. Inuyasha was back on his feet and charged at the demon.
He jumped in the air. “ tessiga!” the power of tessiga was unleashed
and shot straight at the demons tail. I hit and exploded the piece off.
Kagome quickly ran over to it and grabbed the shard. The rest of the
tail vanished and miroku was using his kanzanna to suck in the rest of
the body. Inuyasha sheathed tessiga and walked back to the cave.
“I guess it wasn’t such a good idea to stay here after all”
“ oh come on inuyasha. It’s still a good spot don’t start now.” kagome
argued.
He sat down. “ feh whatever.”
Kagome shook her head and pulled out some blankets and her sleeping
bag. She set the bag down and grabbed her math book. She sighed.
“I hate math.” she laid down and opened her book to study.
“ kagome... why don’t you just quit school?” miroku asked her.
“ no I want to tough it out for the last few months. If I do, I won’t
have to go to high school. Then ill work at the shrine.”
Inuyashas head popped up at this “ great! Then we can look for the
jewel shards.”
“ is that all you ever think about? “ sango asked him sighing.
“ no I do think about other things you know” he replied angrily.
“ like kikyo.” kagome muttered. Turning a page in her text book
inuyasha looked shocked. “ what did you say?”
Kagome took a breath. Boy was he going to be pissed. “ I said...
like kikyo” she answered cooly.
Inuyasha looked taken back.” why would you say that?”
“ because its true and you know it.” kagome was thinking about the
time when kikyo had caught her and strapped her to the tree. Inuyashas
face was all she needed to see for her to know that he still loved her.
Inuyasha looked hurt. He sighed and shook his head.“im going for a walk”
he turned and left.
When he was gone sango turned to kagome, “ why did you say that? You
really hurt his feelings.”
Kagome had noticed that too. “ I guess so. But its just the truth.”
“ it may be but you still shouldn’t have said it.” miroku stated.”
but since its over with might as well go to bed.” he said laying
down near the entrance of the cave.. Sango nodded in agreement and laid
down near the fire. Shippo and kirara cuddled up next to her.” are you
going to bed kagome?” she asked
“ nah im going to stay up a little longer.”
“ well don’t stay up too long.” sango said yawning
“ ok..” she mumbled turning back to her math book.

meanwhile, inuyasha had walked down to the creek where they had
gotten water earlier. “do I really think about kikyo that much?”
he asked himself. He sighed and looked up at the moon. “Wait a minute.
Is it getting smaller? oh shit! if we don’t kill the damn demon
tomorrow then im screwed. Sango and miroku will wonder why I don’t
want to fight. Damn! Just another thing to worry about. Might as well
tell kagome, she’ll be able to help a bit.” he sighed and got up.
He started walking back pausing every few min for signs of a demon,
thinking about what kagome had said. He sighed. “ she’ll never
understand. Im only thinking about how to get rid of kikyou. She
doesn’t belong here anymore.” he walked into the cave to find everyone
asleep. Kagome had fallen asleep with her book open and had curled up
into a ball. Inuyasha smiled slightly and grabbed one of her blankets
out of her backpack and laid it over her. he then went outside and
jumped into a tree to sleep.
Chapter 2
