Chapter 4:

Kagome walked around Inu-yasha's "cabin", which was more like a palace.

" When you said `cabin' I was expecting something a little smaller, but this is nice. Very nice." Kagome said shock overtaking her. Inu-yasha came up behind her and took her hand lightly in his clawed one.

" Here let me give you the grand tour." Kagome was happy to oblige him. Once they had finished going through every room, they retreated to the room that served as Inu-yasha's bedroom. Cuddling on the bed, along side his mate, Inu-yasha let sleep over-ride his senses and the darkness of sleep came to claim him. Noticing that Inu-yasha was asleep, Kagome thought to herself. What he doesn't know, wont hurt him and she reached down and started to stroke his ears. Soon he emitted a soft low purring sound, smiling lightly as Inu-yasha rubbed his head in a pattern that increases the friction between his ears and her hand, Kagome closed her eyes and let sleep also claim her to.

When Kagome awoke, she missed the strong presence that was her mate an almost rolled off the bed. Looking around dashed confirmed her assumptions and wonder to her self, if it was just a dream. Getting up she walked around until she found the courtyard, where she heard the clattering of swords. Walking up she found Inu-yasha and his half brother, picking on the servants. Walking up she put her hand on Inu-yasha's shoulder, and was quickly thrown into the wall on the other side of the yard. Once her vision had become stable, she looked up and was face to face with a full-blooded Inu-yasha. Her confusion was slowly replaced with fear as she realized that he was full blooded and did not have the rosary beads on. Smelling the scent of fear radiating off of Kagome, Inu-yasha moved closer to her and whispered into her ear.

" You thought you could keep me locked up for ever Miko."

" How Inu-Yasha?"

" You know wrench. The Shikon jewel of course." Inu-yasha smirked at the totally confused Kagome.

" Hey Sess-hamrou she's acting all innocent, In hopes that we'll let here go, should I throw her in the dungeons. I believe that I can talk her out of her denial." Inu-Yasha said as he picked up Kagome and carried her off to his room. When he veered off course and headed to his room Kagome spoke up.

" Why are you taking me to your room. I'm supposed to be in the dungeons." Kagome said ice filled her words

" Listen I may be a full demon now, but I wont stop caring for you Kagome" Inu-yasha told her as he set he down on the bed gently. " Sleep I'll be back later" Inu-Yasha told her as her eye lids became heavy and sleep claimed her. When she awoke again he was there true to his word. His eyes closed, but ears alert as ever. Getting up slowly, not wanting to make him think she was trying to escape, Kagome walked over to him and sat down in his lap, his arms automatically coming down to hold her protectively. His breath came out in steady intervals and she relaxed against him immediately. Soon after she sat down, he noticed a change in her emotions and he decided to ask her.

" Kagome what's wrong?" Inu-yasha's tenor voice whispered in her ear

" I don't understand. The jewel had been broken into many shards, we only had half the jewel yesterday."

" What are you talking about, the jewel wasn't broken. You've always had it. I finally convince you to give it to me." Inu-yasha said. The air around the couple changed, felt like electricity was all around. Slowly Inu-Yasha got up and looked her straight in the eye. " What makes you think, I ever wanted to be human? I had no need to. I tried to get the jewel once before, almost succeeded, but then that witch Kikyou stopped me. I befriend her, made her think I wanted to become human, that way she would give me the jewel. What makes you think you were no different?" He growled

" Your not Inu-yasha. He would never talk like this. Let me go I want out." Yelled as she was brought pack to the present time. Her tossing and turning, as well as the scent of fear had brought him out of him slumber. Scanning the room for the reason causing Kagome's distress, he could find nothing. Crawling back onto the bed Inu-yasha shook Kagome walking her up from her dream. Looking up at Inu-Yasha Kagome freaked and fell of the bed.

" Take the fucking jewel, that's all you want anyway." Kagome yelled at the hanyou, not caring about his sensitive hearing.

" Kagome, calm down. What do you mean take the jewel?" Inu-yasha asked still clutching his ringing ears.

" The jewel's all you wanted. It's what you wanted with Kikyou, and it's all you wanted with me to. You don't care you bastard." Kagome yelled at him again.

" Kagome I don't know where you're getting this information, but your source lacks a lot."

" You want to know where I was told this. Right here in this room. By you, your full blooded self." Kagome told him, on the verge of tears.

" Kagome. What you had was a dream. Nothing more, nothing less. I've told you before I don't want the jewel. You took me for who I am. With you I have no reason to by anything but myself. You have to understand." Inu-yasha told her, but she still looked as frightened as before.

" I don't know. How can I believe you? You were as ruthless as your brother. A total killing machine, void of any real feelings." Kagome said, " I can't trust you that's just how it is Inu-yasha. No one can for this world to live in peace, you must die. Of course I'll give you a fighting chance." Kagome to him as they were teleported to the grassy area in which the bone eaters well was located.

" Kagome what are you doing?" Inu-yasha asked, realizing that the situation could get really ugly, very quickly.

" Getting rid of the trash I should've instead of falling in love with him, the first time."

Just as I thought this isn't Kagome, Kikyou is behind this. Knowing that Kagome cared for me put her more at risk. It made her an easier target to plant the false vision and turn her against me. Well Kikyou you won't be victorious this time. Inu-yasha thought as Kagome tried to break the spell that was placed upon her. I can't do this to him. He doesn't deserve to die. He didn't do anything to her. No matter what I can't let her lock into my Miko powers. Kagome thought to her self. Too late Kagome I already have, he's dead and it will be your entire fault. Kikyou's voice sounded in her head.

" Well Inu-yasha this is the end. I'll see you in hell." Kagome yelled as she raised her arrow. A swishing sound was heard as Kagome released her fire-enchanted arrow.

The arrow missed its target by a couple inches, thanks to Kagome's sudden control. Fool. It would be wise not to interfere with my plans again. Kikyou spat in Kagome's head. Looking up at Inu-yasha she mouthed I'm sorry before being taken over again.

" Kagome I know you're in there and I know you can here me. You need to find a way to separate your body and Kikyou's soul from you." Inu-Yasha growled

" Spare your plan Inu-yasha. I shall not be killed so easily. Not lake last time. To separate our souls, is to like separating an atom. Everything around us will be dissolved. I cannot be killed. It is you who shall die." Kagome yelled as she lunged for Inu-yasha. Oh no you don't. I may not have control over my body right now, but you don't have control over my thoughts witch. Take this bitch. Not dead, nor not of the living. Spirits of the interregnum, I call. Restore to the corporal vessel that which separates us from the beast. . Kagome thought to Kikyou. A brilliant flash of light erupted from Kagome and both her and Inu-yasha were thrown a few feet from each other.

" Bitch, now you shall pay. Both of you shall go to hell with me." The translucent Kikyou spat out at Kagome and Inu-yasha.

Kagome bit back a scream, as her arm was wrenched from her socket as she impacted with the ground along side Inu-yasha. Curling into the fetal position, Kagome rocked there in waves of pain, tears coursing down her cheeks. Sensing her discomfort, Inu-yasha crawled over to Kagome, ignoring the searing pain across his chest, where a purifying arrow had struck him. Reaching Kagome, he turned her over and pulled her into his lap as she whimpered slightly at the movement.

" Please talk to me Kagome. I can't help you if I don't know what's wrong." Inu-yasha whispered into her ear softly.

" M-My shoulder." She replied through the pain " I think it's dislocated." Inu-yasha moved his hand along her shoulder, looking for any sign of a joint popped out of socket. As he reached her shoulder he could feel it and felt around it to feel how bad it was out.

" You're a lucky girl. You took most of that fall on your knees and side. It's not out that far and will be easy to pop back in. I will warn you though it's going to hurt like hell." Inu-yasha told her as he thrust her shoulder back into place. A high-pitched scream was heard, all through the clearing, followed by muffled sobs.

" Shh, It's okay." Inu-yasha said cradling Kagome against him like a small child. Then looking up at Kikyou as she spoke to him.

" You really love her don't you? You'd do anything for her even if it meant giving up your own life. I'm not the heartless killer you think I am Inu-yasha. I respect the bonds of true love. I know that, a true bond cannot be tracked with a 100 bloodhounds and cannot be broken with a 100 curses. If you really love her, then you will cherish her forever. A word of advise for you Inu-yasha, keep her close during the new moons, you won't be the only one hunted now." Kikyou said as she walked off through the trees. Looking back down at the girl in his arms, he realized what Kikyou had meant. Fatigue finally caught up with the silver haired hanyou, and he sunk to the ground in a state of semi-consciousness.

"Inu-yasha!" Kagome screamed crawling over to her fallen mate.

" Kagome, you must pull the arrow out. If it purifies me anymore, I'll won't exist." Inu-yasha said slowly, fighting a losing battle with they darkness. " Please Kagome, please…" Inu-yasha trailed off, falling into the tides of the waiting darkness.

" Inu-chan, please hold on." Kagome called to her hanyou as she pulled the enchanted arrow from his chest, it crumbling to ashes when it made contact with the wind.
