InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Heart's Struggle ❯ Surprises ( Chapter 6 )
Chapter 6:
Kagome looked up at the guy she ran into and gasped slightly. Is that really Inu-yasha? He died, what am I thinking? Get a grip Kagome, your hanyou is dead and is not coming back. Kagome thought, to herself harshly as she pushed herself up off of the ground.
" I am sorry, it's been a weird day for me." Kagome told the Inu-yasha look alike as she helped him collect his scattered papers.
" It's quite alright miss… Kikyou is that you?" The look alike asked Kagome. " Kikyou, its' me. I thought you moved back to Kanto." Inu-yasha said as he moved closer to Kagome, as disbelief crossed her features. She kills him and yet she is all he can think about. I can't win even in death he cares about her more than me. Do the fates really hate me that much? Kagome thought to herself sadly as Inu-yasha waited for her reply. " Well Kikyou, what's going on?" Inu-yasha asked, his temper finally snapping.
" For your information, my name is Kagome, not KIKYOU. Ka-Go-Me, say it with me baka Ka-Go-Me." Kagome snapped back at Inu-yasha.
" Sure, You look like her" Inu-yasha said his eyes scanning her body, as he traced back up her eyes, where he took a quick whiff of her sent. " And you smell like her, yet you say that you are not. That is where I find this situation funny." Inu-yasha said as he started to circle Kagome. Great this is exactly how he acted when we first met, except he can't Iron Reaver Soul Stealer me this time. Who would make it so that Inu-yasha would only remember Kikyou? Unless the person who did this is Kikyou herself. I need to have a long talk with her. Kagome thought as she spoke to Inu-yasha again
" Look Inu-yasha I don't have time for this. I'll see you later." Kagome said as she pushed past Inu-yasha and continued the journey to her Shrine.
" Don't walk away from me Bitch." Inu-yasha shouted too Kagome's retreating figure. Turning back at Inu-yasha Kagome looked him straight in the eye and replied in her most determined voice.
" I'm not your Bitch, at least I'm not anymore!" She said, and turned back around and walked off, leaving a very confusing Inu-yasha standing in the stair way to her shrine.
When Kagome got back into the Feudal Era, She wasted no time in running back to the village. Once she reached the hut, that Miroku and Sango shared, she quieted and listened to the voice that emitted from the hut.
" Are you sure?" The first voice asked, which Kagome recognized as Sango's. She continued to be quiet and listen to the conversation that was going on.
" Are ye certain, that this thing in front of us in not a illusion Miroku?" The second voice asked, which Kagome recognized as Keadea's.
" Hey you old hag, I'm standing ri…" Kagome's heart jumped a little when she heard the third voice and cut the person speaking off in mid sentence when she burst through the Door. She stopped and stared into blood red eyes. The whole room went silent, as Kagome continued to stare at Inu-yasha. Now the fact that Kagome was staring at a translucent, full demon Inu-yasha, registered in her mind, and Kagome flipped.
" W-what, how did this happen?" Kagome managed to stutter, as all rational thoughts started to leave her head. Noticing that she was starting to hyperventilate, Inu-yasha reached out a hand, expecting it to go through her, but gasped when his hand made contact with her shoulder.
"Kagome sit down please, before you faint?" The translucent Inu-Yasha asked, as Kagome slowly sunk to the ground.
" I don't understand I just saw you." Kagome said gaining weird looks from her friends. " I was walking home and I ran into something, or should I say someone." Kagome said looking straight at Inu-yasha. " But he was a human, and not translucent."
" Oh so you're saying that there is another me walking around in your world Kagome. Get a grip." Inu-yasha snapped, sending Kagome close to tears. "Kagome I wasn't thinking. I'm sorry." Inu-yasha said as she reached for her and pulled her into his embrace. Kagome melted into his embrace and cried silently as he stroked her hair. Soon Kagome drifted off to sleep in his arms and he shifted her, so he could lean against the wall for support. Closing his eyes, Inu-yasha thought about what had happened in the past week. His thoughts where interrupted by Keade.
" Inu-yasha may I ask ye a question?"
" Sure hag, what's on your mind?" Inu-yasha replied as he looked at her with his piercing red eyes.
"If ye are a spirit as ye said, then how are ye able to hold onto Lady Kagome like you are doing so?" Keade asked while Inu-yasha moved his gaze, from her to his translucent hand. How am I able to? I'm a spirit, one of the dead. I shouldn't be able to touch anything living, unless our love, allows me to not pass through her. Inu-yasha thought, as he returned his gaze back to Keade
" Look all I have right now is more questions than answers." Inu-yasha said, turning to Sango he continued " Sango can she stay here the night? I don't want her wondering when I can't protect her." Inu-yasha asked the exterminator, who nodded in return. Inu-yasha placed Kagome on the futon he was sitting on and then got up and headed for the door. Sango stopped Him.
" Inu-yasha where are you going?"
" My time is almost up, I can't stay here much longer. Sango do me a favor please. When she wakes up asker her about what happened today again. I don't understand it." HE told the exterminator, and he walked out. The exterminator looked as he continued walking away, slowly fading away.
" Take care on the other side Inu-yasha." Sango whispered to the fading figure.
When Kagome awoke the next morning, she scanned the hut looking for Inu-yasha. As soon as Sango heard her moments, she rushed to her friend's side.
" Sango was last night real? Was he really here?" Kagome asked sadly
" Yes Kagome everything that happened last night was real. Inu-yasha instructed me last night, before he left to ask you about what happened yesterday." Sango told the girl
" I skipped class. Yes I know, it's wired isn't it. Anyway, I was walking home and ran into this guy who looked exactly like Inu-yasha. I was sure it was him, but the only thing that confused me is that he called me Kikyou. He acted as if he had never seen me before. It was like when I first met him. I don't ever want to go through that meeting again." Kagome said unaware that the spirit Inu-yasha had walked in.
" So you're saying that you ran into me, while you where skipping school." Kagome jumped at first, but then nodded, when she realized that it was only Inu-yasha. " And that I only remembered Kikyou. Could this be from Kikyou, as a part of her revenge on me?" Inu-yasha asked. Sango nodded, but Kagome did nothing. Suddenly she stood up and walked to the door.
" And where do you think you're going Kagome?" Inu-yasha asked as she turned and looked at him.
" To have a long talk with Kikyou." Kagome said as she turned and headed out of the door.
"What? Why?" Inu-yasha said in disbelief as he raced out of the hut and grabbed Kagome's shoulder. "Are you insane? Are you trying to kill yourself?" Inu-yasha yelled at Kagome trying to get some sense into her.
" Inu-yasha please let me go. If you really do love me, you'll let me go." Kagome said pulling him in for a kiss. Responding like they use to, Kagome broke away from him, in need of air. "Trust me. If any violence occurs, it will be her fault, not mine." Kagome said as she turned from Inu-yasha and headed out of the hut.
Once Kagome had left the hut and was out of hearing range, Inu-Yasha turned to the young Kitsune cub beside him.
" Shippou, I need you to do me a huge favor. I need you to go to Kagome's time and bring back my human form."
" But Inu-yasha, how am I going to do that? I don't look like anyone you would recognize." Shippou protested
" Yes, but what's why you will shape shift into Kikyou's form. You already pulled that one on me before, why should now be any different?" Inu-Yasha told the kitsune cub.
" Inu-yasha you know I can't shape shift well." Shippou complained as he continued protesting.
" Shippou! Kikyou is a dangerous foe, which Kagome will never understand completely. I can't protect her like this." Inu-yasha said gesturing to his translucent body. " Shippou, I can't lose her. I need you to bring me back, the Tetsusaiga and my body." Inu-yasha said to Shippou, before he broke into a run and headed to the well. Please let him reach me before Kikyou does something that she might regret doing. Especially if I have to kill her for it. Inu-yasha thought sadly.

Kagome walked through the forest searching for the bitch that called herself Kikyou. Stopping by a small stream, to take a break, Kagome leaned over and began to use her hands as a cup and drink the water, when a feeling of pure evil washed over her. Looking up from her drink, Kagome noticed nothing out of the ordinary, and went back to drinking. When she turned back to the water, she came face t face with Kikyou's reflection.

Shippou walked out of the well in Kagome's time and headed to the place Inu-yasha had described for him. This is the last time I ever do a favor for Inu-yasha that requires shape shifting. Shippou thought as he looked down at his new form. As Shippou walked up the stone staircase that lead him to the human Inu-yasha's house, he came up upon a muscular, raven-haired boy. Clearing his throat, Shippou caught the other Inu-yasha's attention. Looking up at the noise, the human Inu-yasha smiled.
" I knew you'd forget about what happened the other week, and come back to me Kikyou." Inu-yasha replied
" Yes Inu-chan, I'm sorry. My grandfather wants to see the Tetsusaiga again, could you bring it over to my house again?" Shippou asked. Inu-yasha nodded his head and went off to go grab it. Coming back shortly, with Tetsusaiga, he offered his arm to Shippou.
" Alright my lady, shall we?" Shippou sighed, and looped arms with Inu-yasha as they walked over to Kagome's shrine.

Kagome stood up and turned around slowly, to face Kikyou.
" Why have you come here, looking for me?" Kikyou asked her reincarnation.
" I want to know what you did to Inu-yasha. Why are there two? Why you killed him!!" Kagome shouted at Kikyou, waiting for her response.
" He belonged to me, with me, instead he chose you. It was you who killed him. If he had've stayed with me this wouldn't have happened." Kikyou said in answer to Kagome's previous questions.
" You bitch. You where dead. He was free game. Now you will tell elm why there are two, or you won't have enough parts left, to function in the afterlife." Kagome threatened Kikyou.

Along the way over to Kagome's shrine, thought of ways he could get the other Inu-yasha through the well and into the Feudal era, but they all seemed stupid and unbelievable. Shippou just prayed that the spirit would be waiting on the other side. Arriving at the Higurashi shrine, Shippou pulled the human Inu-yasha to the well.
" Kikyou why are we going to your well house?" Inu-yasha asked
" Oh you know Grandpa. Go on and walk down the stair I'll meet you down there." Shippou said as he gave the Inu-yasha a little push to get him moving. Please let this work. Shippou thought, as she tripped the human Inu-yasha and pushed him into the well. When they reached The feudal Era, Shippou still in Kikyou costume started to climb out, followed by the other Inu-yasha who was rather confused. When they reached the top, they came face to face with the Spirit Inu-yasha.
" Who are you? Why do you look so much like me?" the human Inu-yasha asked, staring at the Full demon Inu-yasha who just smirked. " And why are you translucent?" the spirit just rolled his eyes and looked at his human form.
" I'm what you should have been, instead of what you are. It's time for me to go home. I've been stuck on this plane to long. Shippou you have the sword." The full demon asked?
" Yes Inu-yasha I have it, but you can't hold it remember?" Shippou stated
" Shippou hold out the sword." The spirit order the cub, as he turned to the human counterpart. " You hold the sword." Slowly the other Inu-yasha gripped the sword and it started to glow a bright white light. Suddenly the shards around the spirit's neck, started to glow a pink light and their light mixed with the swords and grew brighter. The light then stopped and Shippou was left in a daze. Blinking, Shippou looked around and noticed that the spirit was gone and the other Inu-yasha was glowing faint pinkish color. Slowly Inu-yasha opened his eyes and for the first time in weeks was able to see colors again.
" Inu-yasha?" Shippou asked quietly, not wanting to piss the demon off. Inu-yasha opened his eyes and looked at Shippou, an evil glint in his eyes, he addressed Shippou playfully.
" Hey squirt, are you going to keep staring at me all day, cause it's starting to piss me off."
" Inu-yasha!" Inu-yasha smiled as the kitsune cub flung himself at him. " I thought it didn't work." Shippou said as he smiled happily.
" It worked Shippou. My human side was confused enough, that it was easy to regain control of." Inu-yasha told Shippou.
" Oh, so that's all the other Inu-yasha was, your human side. That makes sense now, thought I still want to know why it happened." Shippou said to himself, completely forgetting Inu-yasha.
" All I want to do right now, is See Kagome. Where si she, Shippou?" Inu-yasha asked hoping the answer he knew was different from the answer Shippou was going to give him.
" She's with… Kikyou." Shippou said, fearing for his mom's life.
" Shit! Why do I always have to save that girl?" Inu-yasha said as he raced through the tree branches.
