“Whoa, easy Sango. I missed you too!” Shippou stepped back for a breather.
Miroku stood and smiled. “Shippou, it’s been awhile. You’ve really grown haven’t you.”
“I would say so.” Shippou puffed out his chest. The snapping of a twig brought his attention else where. He turned to see Sachiko walking up with a timid expression. “Ah, they caught up. This is Sachiko.”
Miroku and Sango bowed politely. “Nice to meet you.”
Shippou smiled brighter. “And I believe you know, Kagome.”
Sango and Miroku gasped as they looked at the horizon coming from the direction of the setting sun. There she was the red and white miko that they been searching for.
“Kagome...” Sango whispered.
Kagome swallowed hard. “Sango. My...sister.”
“Kagome-chan,” Sango whispered. “I never gave up hope. I knew you would find your way home to us.” Kagome buried her face into the slayer’s shoulder and cried.
“Sango-chan?” Kagome wept. “I remember you, but it’s hard. I still can’t remember everything.”
Sango pulled from the embrace. She didn’t ask questions she only smoothed back her sister’s hair and smiled. “Come on inside, we can catch up.”
Miroku and Shippou stood at the entrance. Miroku scratched his hand. “Shippou? She doesn’t remember us?” He was hurt that Kagome didn’t even acknowledge him.
Then to his surprise Kagome turned and smiled. She leapt into his arms and hugged him tightly. “Of course I remember my lecherous brother!” Kagome let go and followed Sango to the huts.
Shippou smiled. “It comes to her sometimes. She just didn’t recognize you at first. She’s been through a lot.”
“But where’s Inuyasha. I would have assumed that he would be still be with you.” Miroku looked past the kitsune and hoped he might catch a glimpse of the hanyou.
“Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru are acting like idiots somewhere.” Shippou scoffed. “Come on it’s a long story and I’m starving.” Shippou took hold of Sachiko’s arm and walked past the puzzled ex-monk and his son.
“Come on, Akio.” Miroku smiled and picked up the boy. “I have a feeling this is going to be a long night.”
“Naraku?” Kiyoshi said in a small voice. “What will you do with the jewel?”
Naraku smiled. “I will use it to grant my wishes, I will regain my empire.”
Just then a fog appeared in front of them and a woman with long red hair and piercing purple eyes bowed before them. She wore a tight leather uniform and carried a kusari fundo on her hip. It didn’t take long for Naraku to gain enough strength and create a incarnation with the help of Kiyoshi’s shikigami creating powers.
“Nakori? What are you doing here?” Naraku demanded. “You are suppose to be with the inu brothers.”
Nakori frowned. “Yes I know my lord. But the brother’s have seen through my illusion and are now heading in this direction.”
Naraku snarled and clenched his fist closed. “Do they believe Kagome to be dead?”
Nakori shook her head. “They do not my lord. They are searching for her now.”
Naraku looked over to Kiyoshi. “Give them a distraction, Kiyoshi.”
Kiyoshi nodded and held her hands up and the jewel in her hands glowed brightly. A dark cloud formed and hundreds of demons emerged and headed in the direction of the inu youkai brothers.
Then Kagome spoke of Sesshoumaru. Sango and Miroku listened in shocked silence. Kagome spoke highly of the taiyoukai and it seemed that she even loved him.
“Kagome-chan, do you love Sesshoumaru?” Sango just came out and asked.
Kagome gasped, “I-I do love him. But a miko isn’t meant for those feelings.” She smiled sadly. “I have a duty and my feelings for Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha aren’t the most important things right now.”
“Inuyasha?” Sango said surprised. “So you have seen him?”
“Yes, he saved me. When I was saving Sesshoumaru and Daiki.” Kagome smiled. “I knew him, somehow I remembered him. But only a little.” Kagome paused and frowned. “He gave me the Shikon no Tama.”
Miroku was next to speak. “But I thought the jewel was dormant?”
“I am connected to the jewel somehow. But it was active when I came into possession of it.” Kagome furrowed her brow. “But I let my emotions defeat me. The jewel is gone now.”
“What happened to it?” Miroku asked.
“Ichiro, he looked so...” Kagome trailed off and looked away. “Ichiro had so much hatred in his eyes. He never looked at me that way before. It’s because I left, even after he wanted to love and protect me. I still left because I felt like something was missing in my life, something that would make me complete. But this search for my past has torn me even more.”
Sango sighed. “Kagome-chan.” She said softly.
Kagome looked at Sango with tears in her eyes. “Sango-chan? Where do I belong?”
Sango gave Daiki to Shippou and took Himawari from Kagome’s arms and handed the baby to Miroku. She took Kagome hand and led her out of the house. They walked in silence for a moment until they reached a cave overlooking the slayer’s village.
“Kagome-chan? Do you know this place?” Sango asked softly.
Kagome peered into the darkness of the cave and sighed. “No, where are we?”
Sango looked into the cave. “This is the place where the sacred jewel was created. This is where Midoriko died.”
Kagome gasped and took a step forward. “Kagome-chan, a few months ago the cave had been glowing and it’s whispers your name.” Sango explained.
Kagome didn’t hear her, she didn’t hear or see anything but the blackness of the cave. She took a slow step into the cave and felt like she was pushing against an invisible source. Sango called out to her and tried to follow but the barrier knocked her back. Sango squinted into the darkness but the red and white miko completely disappeared.
“Kagome-chan? KAGOME-CHAN!!” Sango screamed into the darkness.
220;Kagome, open your eyes.”
“Don’t be afraid little miko.”
“Kagome...”
The voices were similar but different. They were the voices of two women, and one of them Kagome recognized. “K-Kikyou? Where are you? I can’t see.”
“Open your eyes Kagome and there will be light.” Kikyou’s haunting voice said.
Kagome opened her eyes and just as Kikyou said it was bright inside the cave. Light reflected the crystal walls and made a beautiful prism of colors. Kagome was shocked by the purity she felt in the seemingly dark place.
“Oh, she is very lovely Kikyou.” Another sweet voice said in the shadows.
“Kikyou? Who...what’s happening?” Kagome had so questions. Her body felt warm and there was a tug at her heart. Slowly a small ball of light rose out of her chest and took the form of a woman. Kagome studied the beautiful woman. She had long raven hair and wore armor from years ago. She looked a lot like Kikyou and herself. But she also had a look all her own. It became clear that it was two different woman sharing the same manifested body.
“Kagome.” The apparition spoke in unison with the two voices it shared. “Soon you will find your path.”
“My path?” Kagome questioned. “What is my path?”
“You carry the soul of the immortal miko.” The ghostly woman continued. “Your sadness is just a fleeting thing. You will bring this world together. And you will be rewarded.”
“I don’t care about the rewards, I just want Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru to be happy. I want to help purify the jewel. I want my family and friends to know that I’m alright.” Kagome fell to her knees. “I want...” Kagome looked up. “I want to stop wanting.”
The apparition smiled. “Little miko, you are fit for love. And you will have it. You are giving up before you have even begun. Your path is a long one, but when you reach your destination it will be worth it.”
“What about the jewel, how can I destroy it?”
“Nothing that pure can be destroyed. When the time comes, you will know what to do.” The woman turned and kneeled, she picked up a bow and arrow and handed it to Kagome. “Shoot your arrow Kagome. And the you will see through the darkness.”
Kagome didn’t know what to make of the woman’s cryptic words. “What about Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru. Tell me what to do.”
“Ah, well that’s easy. Love them as they love you.” The woman smiled.
Kagome frowned. “Kikyou! Are you telling me to choose both of them?”
The woman smiled. “Well, we are the same soul. And we are different. As the strong, warrior Midoriko, you find yourself drawn to Sesshoumaru. As the lonely, and kind Kikyou your closer to Inuyasha. And as Kagome. Well lets just say the names you will find yourself called will not be kind.”
Kagome blushed. “We are the same immortal soul?”
“You represent the three faces of the soul. Courage, Loyalty, and Love.” The woman smiled. “And only you can bring out all three.”
“Why me?”
The woman laughed. “Three times the charm!”
Kagome scoffed. “Yeah that’s real insightful.”
“Kagome, do as your heart tells you, we have biased opinions. Only you can do what’s right.” The said with a soft voice. “Kagome you will be blessed, in a way that we were not.”
Kagome sighed. “What about Ichiro. What happened to him?”
The woman looked sad. “Sacrifices are necessary in the large scheme of things.”
Kagome frowned. “Sacrifices are never necessary.”
The woman smiled. “You really are the best of us all.”
Then the woman faded from Kagome’s sight. “Wait! Answer my question! What happened to Ichiro?!”
“Sacrifices.” The voice completely faded.
“Naraku.” The voice was weak but Naraku could hear it perfectly inside his head. Another nuisance, just like Onigumo. They were both within him.
“Naraku. We are the three parts of the same heart. You will never win.” The voices stopped when Naraku snarled and clutched his eyes shut.
“I will be victorious and when the purist thing on this earth dies, I will have full control of the jewel and the power to rid myself of these human feelings.”
Onigumo’s voice sighed. “You cannot kill Kikyou.”
Ichiro’s voice was slightly stronger. “You cannot kill Kagome.”
Naraku snarled again when thoughts of Midoriko came to mind. He fought by her side inside the jewel, granted he was only using her to stay powerful, but he couldn’t ignore her fiery spirit.
“I cannot kill, Midoriko.” He whispered.
Naraku shook his thoughts and the voices away. “I can do whatever I please.” And he would.
“What the fuck was that all about!” Inuyasha crossed his arms in frustration. “They just came at us out of nowhere.”
Sesshoumaru had his back turned. “It has something to do with that woman. Who ever sent her to us, sent those demons. It’s a scent I do not recognize, but at the same time it is familiar to me.”
Inuyasha took a sniff at the air and paused, his eyes wide. “That guy from the village, Kagome’s village. He was in love with her.”
“Kagome has another suitor?” Sesshoumaru asked with a annoyed twitch in his brow.
“Some human in her village, but it’s different. Before he just smelled like any another human. But now...” Inuyasha trailed off in thought.
Sesshoumaru turned around. “He is like Naraku.”
“What!” Inyasha choked.
“Or, he is Naraku.”
“Sayuri?” Akira of the pig youkai clan smiled. “I hope this will prove exciting. I must admit I was getting a little stir crazy just sitting and basking in peace. Osamu of the human village slapped the taiyoukai’s back playfully.
“Sorry we couldn’t go to war sooner, Akira-dono! I guess the quiet was just to addictive!” Osamu laughed heartily.
Takumi, who wore the armor of the pig youkai clan smiled. “Well I look forward to it, and to see Kagome-sama again.”
“Hear! Hear!” Akira boomed. “Onward to Kagome!!”
Sayuri smiled when the roars of the army chanted in unison.
“ONWARD! TO KAGOME-SAMA!!”
“Kagome-chan!” Sango was still calling to her. Then she appeared. Kagome walked out of the cave with a bow and arrow. She ran and wrapped her arms around her best friend and sister.
“Sango-chan.” Kagome whispered. “I remember, I remember everything...”
Thanks to all who reviewed!!!
Yeah, Yeah I know this wasn’t the best chapter. And it just makes the whole Kagome choosing thing harder. But hey! No reviews, no choices. I won’t base my story solely on reviews. But it would be nice to have a few more. Thank you for reading and thanks for the reviews I did get. And at least I gave Kagome back her memories and Naraku has a little heart. ~ “Kagome...” The silver haired inu sighed. He ran a clawed hand under her haori. She trembled with anticipation. With agonizing slow moments her slid the clothing from her creamy shoulders. He leaned back and admired his work. He gave her a charming smile and took the miko’s breath away.
“Please.” She whispered softly. “I want this.” She leaned in and kissed his lips softly, leaving a trail of fire wherever her lips touched. He growled softly with pleasure. Here she was with him, and he couldn’t be happier.

Sango and Miroku stood in shocked silence. Five years. It’s been five years since they saw the woman who had crawled her way into they’re hearts and set up camp. Kagome shifted her son on her back and took another step closer. Sango reached out and pulled Kagome into a tight embrace. Tears slid down both of the women’s cheeks.“Kagome-chan,” Sango whispered. “I never gave up hope. I knew you would find your way home to us.” Kagome buried her face into the slayer’s shoulder and cried.

Ichiro’s stolen body floated towards the south. She would be there and he wanted his revenge, he wanted to see her suffer. He would have fun, he strength was full now. The revived miko, Kiyoshi was besides him. She was quiet most of the time, concentrating on the corrupted jewel. The evil hanyou knew that Kiyoshi could never purify the jewel. Kiyoshi would be valuable in destroying Kagome. The hanyou smirked.“Naraku?” Kiyoshi said in a small voice.
Sesshoumaru was growing tired of waiting for his brother to catch up. He was taiyoukai and could be with Kagome in an instant, he didn’t have to jump from tree to tree with a foul mouth hanyou. But with their unspoken understanding about who gets Kagome, he couldn’t be dishonorable and leave him. Inuyasha for his part was trying to figure out how this all happened this way. He and Kagome were supposed to be mated by now and probably have a child. But it seemed that fate had other ideas. He was tired and his legs burned from two straight days of running but he needed to see her again. He needed to hold her and pour all the love he should have gave her five years ago into her, and never let go.******
Kagome held Sango and Miroku’s daughter, Himawari gently and smiled. Sango watched her sister and tears threatened to surface again. Kagome told her the story of the dragon, and only taking the name Kagome because it was the last thing she heard before passing out. She told Sango of Ichiro and Natsumi and learning to refine her miko powers. She told them of Sayuri and her shikigami, and her adventures after leaving the village and the enemies and allies she made along the way. Then Kagome spoke of Daiki and the promises she made. Sango smiled at the little hanyou that was asleep in her arms. Kagome was happy that Daiki took to Sango so well. Then Kagome spoke of Sesshoumaru. Sango and Miroku listened in shocked silence. Kagome spoke highly of the taiyoukai and it seemed that she even loved him.
“Kagome-chan, do you love Sesshoumaru?” Sango just came out and asked.

Naraku sat and pondered his predicament. Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru would easily defeat the hordes of demons that headed their way. And soon they would be back on the miko’s tail. He couldn’t let that happen. Kagome was the key to destroying everything he fought for. Killing her would be difficult, and with the inu brothers interfering, well that just made his job harder.“Naraku.” The voice was weak but Naraku could hear it perfectly inside his head. Memories. Of the past. Of the future. They passed by so quickly, not just any observer would be able to tell where one started and the other ended. But she knew. She knew every face.
