Chapter 2: Crashing to Earth and the Pillow's Been Moved
§¤*~

Kagome continued to walk aimlessly around; doing nothing in particular. She was extremely frightened, and very bored. She didn't mind missing class if she had to, she was passing them all anyway; and she didn't have any practices again for the rest of the week. *Hojo! I have to help him study. Oh no!* She thought as she continued trekking even further into the forest. She was trying to think of how to make it up to him when she heard a voice.

"It will be over soon. . . I will conquer. The lovely priestess will be mine; and I will have the jewel. This plan cannot fail." a dark haired man spoke, an ominous mist surrounding him. Kagome noted that he spoke of the jewel. "Yes, fair Kikyou, you will be mine; and that half-breed will die." the voice spoke maliciously.

*Kikyou. . . and the half-breed, that must be Inuyasha. . . they are going to die. Oh no! I have to warn them* Kagome snuck away, easily she crept off without being noticed.

Kagome ran back through the woods, she searched for Kikyou throughout the village. Finally she spotted Kikyou, near a small hut with a little girl, no older than eight.

"Kikyou. . . I am so glad I found you. . . There is a man. . . in the woods." Kagome struggled to catch her breath.

"Slow down Miss Higarashi; what is the trouble?" Kikyou smiled kindly at Kagome waiting for her to catch her breath and continue.

"Okay, listen, there is a man in the woods who is plotting to kill you and Inuyasha." Explaining the plot as him wanting to kill both of them was easier than explaining to Kikyou that the man in the woods actually had a crush on her.

"Oh that is ridiculous." Kikyou thought however of all the people (and demons) that would love to get their hands on the Shikon no Tama. Then there is Inuyasha, who is a half-breed and not excepted by humans or by demons. The theory didn't sound to ridiculous after all.

"You have to believe me. . . I heard him in the woods." Kagome tried again.

"Miss, I think you need to lay down. Have a nap." Kikyou glanced around at the concerned people and did almost anything to get Kagome to stop this talk of 'imaginary plans'.

"Kikyou." Inuyasha whispered from above; she looked up and shook her head with a stern glance (clearly telling him to go away). "What if she's telling the truth?" he called down anyway.

"I am telling the truth Kikyou. You have to believe me."

"Miss, please you are scaring the villagers." Kikyou responded in a threatening tone.

"Gomen. Good bye then Kikyou." Kagome walked defiantly away. If Kikyou didn't want to believe her fine. . . it wasn't any of her business anyway.

"Oh who am I kidding, of course I can't just walk away." Kagome walked around aimlessly until nightfall. Now she sat at the base of a giant willow tree. "I have to figure out when he is going to attack and how, then I can somehow stop him or something." Kagome talked out loud to herself and allowed her eyes to drift closed.

"Hey, wench!" Kagome's eyes shot open. She focused and saw Inuyasha sitting inches from her.

"Don't call me wench! Baka!" she yelled back.

"You really think that someone is trying to kill us?"

"Yes, I heard him."

"Well, go on then, what did he look like?"

"I am not sure, all I could see was the back of him; he looked like he had been in an accident, he didn't have much hair, but what he did have was black. He spoke in a voice filled with malice. I never got a good look at his face, I didn't dare get to close." she said.

"Well, if he's going to do something, I bet it will be when Kikyou tries to turn me human. I can handle it. Thanks for the tip. Now go home, you obviously don't belong here." Inuyasha stood up and walked away from Kagome.

"Wait." Inuyasha stopped and looked back. "I'm kind of. . . bored and scared and lonely. Will you just talk to me for a while?"

Inuyasha didn't really know what to say to that so he sat down beside Kagome.

"So. . . how old are you? What do you like to do? How long have you been with Kikyou?. . ."

Kagome continued to talk aimlessly about nothing and everything. Inuyasha even allowed himself to open up some, he talked about his human mother and his 'asshole' brother named Sesshomaru. The sun was rising before Kagome new it and they had talked all night.

"Thanks for talking with me. I really appreciate it." Kagome said sweetly.

"Feh." was Inuyasha's only response.

"Anyway, guess you'll want to get back to Kikyou now."

"Actually she doesn't want to see me until tomorrow when I become human. I don't want to be human. I like Kikyou a lot. . . possibly love, but being a mutt is what I am. I don't like being a half-breed but when I'm a human I get all these emotions and it pisses me off. I want to be a full-fledged demon, I want to have power; but Kikyou can't be with me if I'm a demon. This fucking sucks." Inuyasha continued complaining for most of the morning and Kagome let him.

She felt something about him was. . . perfect. She didn't know what it was but there was something in him that made her feel complete. Then she reasoned it was a silly girl thing, and that it was just because he was cute. Then she countered with the fact that his personality was everything she had been looking for. He wasn't afraid to be edgy, and he knew what he wanted; he was sarcastic yet charming. Kagome wanted to get to know him a lot better, she was almost happy she wasn't at home, but rather here. . . with him.

They talked most of the day. Kagome went to the village and brought back food for them to eat. Finally Inuyasha felt as though he had talked enough and looked for an escape route.

"Anyway wench, thanks for the tip about the psycho in the forest. Take care of yourself wench."

"Its KAGOME! Baka!" he smiled and jumped through the trees.

*So he believes me. Good. Mission accomplished. Now I can go home, though for some reason. . . I don't really want to.*
§¤*~ The Day That Inuyasha is to Become Human. . .

Kagome still hadn't found a way home, but she was beginning to like it around here. The villagers were pretty nice, once they got passed her peculiar clothes. There weren't many people her age though that she could talk to but she was learning a lot about the past from the villagers stories.

Kagome hadn't gone back into the well, she had a feeling that was her way home, but she couldn't bring herself to leave until this whole business with Kikyou and Inuyasha was sorted out. She couldn't explain it, but she felt a strong kinship toward Kikyou. . . and she had the weirdest feeling she knew Inuyasha from somewhere. Kikyou took the Shikon no Tama to meet Inuyasha and Kagome followed close behind her.

"Inuyasha?" Kikyou asked as she walked up to him. He turned around and struck her with his Iron Reaver (which was a powerful attack using his claws. Kagome noted the amount of blood Kikyou lost with one hit).

"I never wanted to become human, but I'll take the jewel anyway." Inuyasha grabbed the Shikon no Tama off the ground and ran off with it.

Kikyou lay on the ground for sometime. Kagome ran to help her but her help was rejected.

"Inuyasha. . . " she scowled as she hesitantly stood. Kikyou completely ignored Kagome and grabbed her bow and arrow from the village. Running to find Inuyasha. Inuyasha ran with the jewel and Kikyou aimed to shoot.

"NO! DON'T SHOOT HIM!" Kagome screamed.

"And why not?" Kikyou retorted.

"Because he didn't do it! It was that guy from the woods." Inuyasha seemed to be listening and stopped on a high tree branch to listen to the two argue.

"He betrayed me!"

"No, it wasn't him I tell ya!" Kagome yelled angrily.

"He betrayed me. I bet you are in on it too! Both of you will die!" Kikyou raised her bow again.

"No!" Kagome closed her eyes and prepared to be hit. She heard the sound of the arrow whizzing through the air, and then it hit.

Kagome opened her eyes. It had hit something. . . but it wasn't her.

"Oh Kami. Are you all right?" Kagome kneeled down to the boy crouched on the ground. He had jumped in front of the arrow.

Kikyou was now down on the ground, talking to her younger sister. Inuyasha was pinned to a tree, apparently asleep, or dead. It all happened so fast that it seemed as though Kagome were watching it in fast forward from somewhere more distant then her current place on the ground, cradling the boy in her arms.

"I'll. . . be fine." he coughed up blood before he continued. "I need to get back to Tokyo."

"You know about Tokyo?" she asked puzzled. Everyone around here didn't know about Tokyo or Kyoto or any placed.

"I'm from your time. . . Kagome." the boy turned over and she immediately recognized him as her 'stalker'.

"How do we get out of here?" she asked uneasily.

"The well. . . jump in. You have the power." his eyes began to close slowly.

"Okay." Kagome lifted the boy with great difficulty. He was able to support most of his weight and she was grateful for that. She walked passed the gods tree (the same one that sat on the side of the shrine) and noticed Inuyasha pinned to it. She sighed inwardly and looked around for Kikyou. *They died thinking they betrayed each other. . . when all the time it was that evil man from the woods. . . *

"Don't trouble yourself Kagome. . . " the boy said. Kagome looked at him in confusion.

"They know they didn't betray each other. They figure it out, in a about fifty years." she chose to ignore this peculiar comment and trekked on.

Finally arriving at the well she sat the boy on the edge. He brought his legs over, preparing to fall in.

"Will you please. . . tell me your name?" Kagome asked shyly.

"You wouldn't believe me." he smiled coyly. "Friends call me Inuyasha. . . " he winked and jumped into the well. Kagome stood perplexed for a moment before finally following the boy through the well.

"You are who?!" she asked once she reached the other side of the well.

"Inuyasha. . . " he coughed up blood again. "Could we get to a hospital?"

"Oh hai, of course." he slowly climbed out of the well and Kagome followed.

She ran inside and called 9-1-1. The ambulance arrived five minutes later and they drove to the hospital. She couldn't believe she was back in her own time, it was as easy as jumping through the well. She couldn't save Kikyou or Inuyasha's life though, she blamed herself. *But how could this boy claim he is Inuyasha ?* She wondered.

She rode to the hospital but had to wait in the waiting room while he was being treated. She paced the floor, thinking of everything that had happened in the passed three days. Finally a doctor came out and asked for Kagome.

"Ms. Higarashi?" Kagome looked up to the doctor and nodded. "You may see him now."

Kagome walked into the recovery room he was in, he was hooked up to a heart monitor and had an IV in his arm, but he looked better than when he had the arrow sticking out of his back. Kagome walked to his bedside, slightly hesitantly.

"I know I have a lot of explaining to do. Is there anyway it could wait until I get better?" he asked.

"Hai. Its fine. I can wait for answers."

"Arigato." his eyes drifted closed and he fell asleep.
