Separated souls
“ HOW COULD I TURN AWAY FROM THE ONE I LOVE?
HOW COULD I WHEN I KNOW WHAT MY HEART'S MADE OF?
COULD IT BE, THAT YOUR SOUL LIVES INSIDE OF ME
HOW COULD I EVER SAY GOODBYE.”
Marc Anthony-How could I
“The first person she saw after…” memories of him rescuing her from that youkai plant, invaded Inuyasha's mind.
“It was me” he claimed, bending his knees and sat with his fists on the ground, his hair covered his eyes. Jinenji nodded and entered the hut. He came back after few minutes with something in his hand.
“Here” he said handing Inuyasha the cure. The boy took the herbs, but was still watching the ground.
“Give her these, only, after seven days, from the moment she has been stung. Not sooner or later, if you fail her memories of you will never be recovered” said the hanyou with big blue eyes.
“Got it” was all that the boy answered, before fading away.
“Do you think he'll remember?” the hanyou asked his mother.
“He will, but the week he'll have to wait, will be the difficult part” the old woman ended.

DAY 1
Inuyasha entered the village where he left the others, when a small kitsune jumped on his shoulder.
“You're back.”
“Of course I'm back you idiot” answered the hanyou, poking Shippou and leaving him behind.
“What's wrong with him” the kitsune asked, rubbing his head. “He looked distant, like his mind was far away.”
He shook his head considering that it's not worth the trouble to concern about him and got back to showing to some kids his fox tricks.
“Oi” Inuyasha yelled when he reached the house, where the others remained. An angry Sango got out with her Hyraikotsu. Miroku followed her.
“Why are you back?”
“I left only to get some herbs from Jinenji” the boy spoke.
“It's too late for that. We already gave her Myoga's special herbs, for blood lose”
“Not for that, these herbs are for the poison's side effects”
“So you found out what kind of side effects the poison has?” the priest intervened.
“Yes…” he stopped when he saw Kagome getting out of the room. She was still very pale, but at least she could walk and had a weak smile upon her face. He's heart flinched with hope. “Maybe Jinenji was wrong, Kagome is a strong person, she won't be affected by that stupid poison”
His hopes were crushed down when he heard the question she asked the demon slyer.
“Sango who is he?”
The woman and the hoshi were so surprised by that question that they almost dropped dead.
“You mean….you don't remember Inuyasha?”
“Inu…what?” asked the girl, with a bit of curiosity.
“She doesn't remember me” the hanyou hollered. “That's the side effect” he ended with a sigh.
“But why you?” asked Miroku.
“Because I was the first person she saw after she was stung by that damn flower. These are the cure” he continued after throwing Sango the medicine “We have to give her those only after a week, if not her memories will be lost for ever.
Kagome watched her friends and that weird dog boy talking. “Why they have that concerned look upon their faces? I'm OK, aren't I? I wonder What that boy wants and who am I suppose to remember.” She shook her head and walked closer to that strange boy. Kagome watched Inuyasha with doubt, one of her fingers were close to her lips, sign that she was wondering.
“What is it wench?” the hanyou asked, but more gentle than usual.
“Am I supposed to remember you?”
“Maybe you don't” was all he said before he jumped away into the tallest tree around.
“Strange boy” she said to herself and turned back to her friends.
The sun was soon down and was replaced by a beautiful full moon. A weak breeze was all that made, the otherwise still nature, tremble. It was quiet and from time to time some laughter burst from the room were the group was. Inuyasha watched it for a second, then returned to contemplate the clear sky above him.
“What now?” he thought ” how will I make through these seven days? Damn wench I thought she was stronger than this, although I don't think that even I could resist that poison.” He sighed and closed his eyes remembering the attack, Kagome naked…he opened his eyes blushing and looked around, not that someone could see him from the ground. He closed them again and the words of Jinenji, that her memories of him might be lost forever, made his heart ache. He sighed again, he never expected this to happen, how was even possible for that youkai to erase her memories?” All these thoughts came to an end when he heard a voice at the base of the tree.
“Hey, dog boy!” Kagome called looking up at the branch he was standing on.
He jumped down and with his eyes narrowed he came closer to her face.
“My name is Inuyasha” he hissed.
“Inu…um? Will you take me up there?” she said with a wide smile showing the branch that he stood on.
“Why?”
“Cause, you see I've never been in such a tall tree, the view must be incredible” the girl said with a dreamy face.
“What do you mean you've never been to a….”
“Oh that's right” he thought “the only times she was in the trees were with me and since she doesn't remember me…” Without a second thought he took her by her waist and jumped back on the branch.
“Wow” she exclaimed looking around “I wondered why you stood here all day, but now I can see why”
“Keh” he snorted “ That was not, by far, the reason I stood here all day long” he thought. He just couldn't bear see her watching him like a stranger and calling him dog boy all the time. His soul was crying for hers, but he couldn't find it.
She sat down close to him still watching the sky. They were both quiet, but each one from different reasons: Kagome had no idea what to say to this strange boy and Inuyasha wasn't in the mood for a conversation, not with this Kagome at least.
“It's weird how much trust I have in you” she finally broke the silence.
He smiled, but she couldn't see it, cause she wasn't watching him. It's unbelievable that even as a stranger, she still trusted him. A strange feeling of contentment filled his heart. He wanted to say that she was the only living thing that he ever trusted, but he figured that it had no importance to her now.
“What was…umm…our relationship? I mean were we friends, good friends…or…you know?” a hint of blush appeared on her checks while she watched him.
He wanted to say that they were more than friends, but why was that? “They didn't even kiss, most of the times they argued and then he ran to Kikyou and she…” he saw in his mind that kiss again, his Kagome in the arms of that Hojo-thing. The jealousy stared clutching around his heart.
“So?”
“Huh?” he asked puzzled, still remembering that damn kiss.
“So what were we after all?”
“We were…umm…good friends I think” he answered.
“How come you just think?”
“Well…we used to fight a lot.”
“Why?”
He sighed exasperated. All those question were driving him crazy.
“Different reasons” he ended.
She got quiet again and Inuyasha was glad that she was done with the questioning.
“Gomen” she spoke with certain sadness.
“What for baka?”
“For forgetting about you” she said frowning because he called her baka.
“Keh” he snorted “Don't worry about it wench, I'm not too disturbed by this situation.
“You think they are alright?” asked Sango watching the tree were the couple was standing.
“Yeah they'll be fine. Now that Kagome doesn't remember all the things that Inuyasha done to her, they won't argue anymore.”
Miroku stopped and they both stared at eachother.
“Considering their characters they'll probably end up fighting for different reasons again.”
“Hai, hai” the demon slyer ended and they both sighed and shook their head.

DAY 2
They argued for a while, but eventually they all agreed that it's best for them to return to Kaede's village. So here they were walking towards it. “And from all the persons in the world they had to meet with Sesshomaru” the hanyou said to himself. The demon and his companions approached. Rin was standing on Aun, while Janken was walking behind his master.
Kagome's eyes started to sparkle and her heart was beating faster. She swallowed hard, then burst from the group right in Sesshomaru's arms. They all remained with their mouths wide open. The girl started rubbing her head against the demon's chest saying how much she missed him. Inuyasha clutched his teeth and growled.
“What's wrong with your miko?” his older brother asked pushing back the excited girl.
“She lost her memory and take your arms off her, you bastard” the hanyou hissed.
“How come she remembered me?”
“She remembers everything except me”
“I see. A plant youkai. I guess you failed to protect her again” said Sesshomaru annoyed by the miko, that kept trying to hug him.
“It's not your damn business” Inuyasha answered furious. He jumped and it only took a second to take Kagome away from his brother.
“Let me go, let me go” the girl yelled.
“Stand still you wench or he'll snap you neck”
“He wouldn't he loves me and I love him”
“Naaanii?” her friends asked along with the hanyou.
“Janken let's go” the demon called his companion.
“Hai, Sesshomaru-sama” said Janken still recovering from the shock. He thought for one second that his master was going to rip that girl to pieces.
“Goodbye” yelled Rin happy, waving as they faded in the opposite direction.
“Hey, dog boy, why did you do that for?” said Kagome jumping down from his arms with an angry face.
“Do what?” the puzzled hanyou asked.
“Why did you took me away from my love”
A tear of embarasment appeared on the heads of all her friends.
“Your what?”
“You heard me”
“Stupid wench, if you would have jumped one more time in his arms he would have killed you without a second thought”
“Wha…he wouldn't. But I lo…”
The smell of her tears filled his nostrils.
“Why the hell are you crying for now?”
“You are so mean. No wonder I forgot about you. I hate you”
“Keh. Fine. See if I care” he said sarcastic and walked away. “Let's go guys”
Shippou jumped on Kagome's shoulder and whispered.
“I don't like to say this, but he's right. Sesshomaru would have killed you.”
“But how come” she cried “ I thought he loved me”
Miroku shook his head. He could laugh if the situation wasn't so depressing from Inuyasha's point of view.
“Hoshi-sama, what do you think happened?”
“I think that maybe all the love that Kagome-sama had once for Inuyasha, moved to a different person. Considering that she doesn't remember him, his older brother became the target.”
“But why him?”
“Maybe she finds them resembling. I don't know”
“Just when I thought things couldn't get worse” Sango sighed and followed Inuyasha.
Miroku nodded and followed her, while Kagome was still whispering something to the small kitsune on her shoulder. In Inuyasha's head the words “I hate you” rolled over and over again. She told him twice these words and each one hurt more than the other did. First time it was when Kagome revived Kikyou, but she said she doesn't remember saying it and now she said it again. “But I guess this doesn't count considering that she doesn't have a clue who am I. But it still hurts damn wench” he yelled for himself. “Was I so easy to forget because she didn't cared about me? Nah, it couldn't be….could it?” the hanyou thought as he turned around and watched the girl's face. She was looking down a little sad. He figured that, that was because he took her away from Sesshomaru. “Whatta hell was that all about? From all the runts in the world she had to pick the biggest and the most dangerous. But still why him?” he shook his head. He was tired of all these questions and above all he was hungry.
NOTE” I'm really sorry about my spelling and grammar, but English it's not my first language. I keep a dictionary close all the time and use a program for spelling and grammar , but I guess it's not enough. Gomen. I'll be much careful from no on, but I can't promise miracles. About the characters…I tried to keep them as intact as I could, but writing an original story means to change a bit their behavior, they need to grow, just like the story itself. Arigato and keep reviewing.
