The kiss

“COULD IT BE?
THAT YOUR SOUL LIVES INSIDE OF ME?”

Kagome had her breakfast in silence. Her mother kept the others to ask her something. She knew that something was wrong, but she also knew that if her daughter needed her help, she'd ask for it.

The girl finished her food and left without any words. She came back few moments later with her backpack. She took the food that her mother prepared for her and thanked her for it. She noticed few packs with ramen and wondered who eats those, but she had other things more important on her mind.

“Goodbye mama, Souta, jiichan” she waved and got inside the shrine and jumped through he well back in time.

“Kagomee” the small kitsune jumped into her arms, making her smile.

“Shippou-chan. How did you knew I was coming?”

“Inuyasha told me” he said and started looking inside her backpack for his favorite candies.

“Oh…” was all she could say.

They both walked back to the village and the rest of the group happily received the girl. But still something was wrong, a tension was in the air and Kagome could feel it.

“What's going on? Is this because I can't remember?” she asked herself.

The rest of the day went by pretty slow, from the girl's point of view.

“Where is he?” she thought.

The others asked themselves the same question. Inuyasha hasn't showed himself all day, he didn't even came to eat and they all knew he loved the ramen. They avoided asking Kagome anything, they already knew what was wrong, but they thought it was best to stay out of it.

Kagome suddenly got out of the hut without any words, leaving the others with meaningful faces.

“It was about time” Sango was the only one who talked as the others nodded.

The young miko walked through the forest and had the feeling that it was familiar, but still had no idea why. She looked everywhere, until she saw his silver hair shining in the light of the full moon. Her heart flinched.

“Go away, wench” he said when she came at the base of the tree.

“We need to talk”

“About what?”

“About…about what I should've remembered.”

“Keh. There's nothing to talk about. Go away” he yelled.

“Please” she said with her voice trembling.

His heart melted. He knew that he would make her cry if he didn't came down. Inuyasha jumped down just to take her back up with him. She was a little surprised by the move, but recovered quickly. He let her down on her feet and sat down where he stood earlier.

“Are you alright?”

“Keh, why the hell wouldn't I be?” he snorted.

She watched him with narrowed eyes.

“Maybe if you would be nicer I would remember you” she said angry.

His eyes opened wider and he swallowed hard. He knew that she was right, he knew that the way he treated her might be the reason she doesn't remember, but he was too stupid to do anything about it.

“I don't care if you get you memories back or not. All I care is to get back the jewel and kill Naraku”

“Is that so?” she asked suspiciously.

“Yes”

“So I mean nothing to you right?”

“Right”

“I can't believe I was even worried about you. I have no idea who the hell are you and I still worry more about you that you do about me. I should thank that youkai plant or whatever it was that speared me from all the pain that I bet you put me trough” she hollered.

He stood on his feet so sudden that she thought he might lose his balance. He didn't, he narrowed his eyes and came closer. Inuyasha grabbed her by her shoulders and whispered.

“Don't you know how much you hurt me by saying all these things” he said and his lips touched hers.

Kagome remained with her eyes opened, shocked. He wrapped his arms around her, bringing her even closer. The girl accepted the kiss and closed her eyes.

The memories flooded her mind. Images of when she found him pinned on the tree, their fights, him running to Kikyou, the times he was worried for her…all this invaded her soul. She felt her heartache, happiness combined with sadness hit her like a strong wind, rummaging her entire being.

Tears flowed from hey eyes. Inuyasha stopped and watched her.

“I'm sorry” he mumbled “I know I shouldn't have…”

“Inu…Yasha” she whispered.

The sweet surprise spread into his body, making his heart flinch.

“Ka-gome. You remember?”

She nodded still crying. Instead of any other words he just put his lips over hers again. He kissed her numerous times, shortly, just touching her lips. The gentleness of the gesture made Kagome's soul fly up high.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and brought him closer. The hanyou growled holding her tighter. They looked like none of them wanted to ever let go. They were hanging on, like the need of eachother was like the need for air.

One tear rolled down on Inuyasha's cheek, but Kagome couldn't see it. He was never happier in his life, his being was never complete until he met her. Until he met this wonderful girl, that made him trust again, that brought happiness back into his life. He could die right now, knowing that somehow his soul would be buried in her heart.

Their lips stopped touching, because they needed air. Inuyasha watched her face and saw that she was sad. Her eyes looked down, so he put a finger under her chin and lifted it.

“What's wrong?”

“I…know everything now. Why I didn't want to remember I mean.”

“Why?”

“Because of the pain that I felt when I lost my memory. You ran to Kikyou again” she said crying. “I didn't wanted to know all this, I don't want to feel this pain anymore, these doubts are tearing my soul apart”

“Ka-gome” he whispered. He felt like he wanted to kill himself for how stupid he could be. He told her that hurting her was the last thing he would do, but he was doing that more often than he realized.

“Tell me what do you want me to do. Just say the words and I'll do it. Just don't cry. You make my heart break when I see you like this. Please” he said.

“Tell me that I don't have to doubt anymore. Tell me that I don't have to be afraid that you'll leave me alone one day and run to her. Tell me…”

“I love you”

She stopped shocked when she heard the words. Kagome watched him, trying to find out if he lied. His eyes were telling her that he was honest, he entire soul was speaking to her.

Kagome threw herself in his arms and whispered:

“Thank goodness. I…I was so afraid that…oh…I love you so much!” she spoke, with her face buried in his haori.

Inuyasha smiled hearing her. He was complete again. The other half was back, she was now in his arms telling him that she loved him. The hanyou knew in that moment there was nothing in this world that could come between them and together they could overcome any obstacle.

“Is there something wrong, Sesshomaru-sama?” Janken asked watching his Master.

The youkai was looking at the sky with a frown. He looked almost concerned.

“Something is coming, the final battle is close”

The words sent a shiver down Janken's spine. He knew he ment Naraku. He turned his face and watched Rin sleeping peacefully. That little girl, how can she be so calm. He looked back again at Sesshomaru then walked sit down near the fire.

Janken fell asleep wondering who will it end as Sesshomaru remained watching the sky.

“I will finally take you down, Naraku” he thought and almost smiled.
