InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The love beyond time ❯ Kohaku ( Chapter 9 )

Kohaku's life
Kikyou was resting under a tree. The night was calm. From time to time one of her Soul Stealers, came back with a soul, that was dropped into her body. The miko's eyes opened when she felt something.
“Something heads this way. Such a strong youki…” she thought as she stood.
Her bow and arrows were close so she took them and one arrow was ready for the youkai.
Kikyou heard an evil laughter, then Naraku appeared before her.
“Naraku” she said and narrowed her eyes.
“I should've known it was you”
“Kikyou. You're time in this world has come to an end” he said with a smile.
“Eh? Are you planning to kill me again?”
“Hahaha! This time it'll be forever” he answered.
One tentacle burst from his body towards her, but disappeared as soon as Kikyou's arrow hit it. Another one attacked….then another one…
The miko made them disappear one by one then she had no more arrows to shoot.
“What? No more arrows?” she thought giving Naraku a cold look.
The hanyou got out of his baboon cloth and approached her. His black, long hair was fluttering in the wind. His eyes narrowed as he got closer to her face. One of his tentacles wrapped around her.
The miko was taken by surprise and she no longer could move. Her bow fell from her hand. Naraku's face came closer.
“Ready to give up” he asked.
“Never, you bastard” she answered coldly.
“I thought so” he spoke as his lips softly touched hers.
Kikyou's eyes were wide open. She was shocked that she couldn't think straight.
“No way…what is he doing?” she thought.
The tentacle started to loosen its grasp only to pierce her chest. Souls burst out from her body.
“Ugh?”
“This is you're end as a miko…” said Naraku and smiled.

“What the hell?” said Inuyasha looking at the sky.
His black hair covered his eyes as he looked down. It was the night with the new moon and as always he hated being so weak. It was good from one point of view he will have his full strength when they'll meet Naraku.
“Still this feeling…something wrong happened. I just can't put my finger on it” he thought.
“Are you all right?” asked Kagome as she sat next to him under the tree.
“Yeah…”
“You look worried”
“I have this strange feeling. Damn it if I was a hanyou right now I know that I could tell what is it. But since I'm just a human I have no idea what is it.”
He stood and hit the tree with his fist. Kagome watched him then lowered her eyes.
“Are you sure you don't know what's wrong?” she asked.
“What do you…I hope you're no saying that I think about Kikyou?”
“Kikyou is something wrong with you?” he thought now.
“Well aren't you? If you were a hanyou you'd probably feel her near and run to her again”
His mouth opened in surprise. He wanted to deny, but he had this strange feeling that he would do it. He said nothing.
“See? I knew it” she whispered and walked away.
“Kagome wait…” he grasped her hand.
“Don't leave”
“Why not?”
“You remember the day I said I loved you?”
They both blushed and avoided to watch into eachother's eyes.
“Yes” she answered watching her shoe.
“It was also a promise that I would never leave your side”
She now looked into his eyes.
“Believe in me, will you?”
She nodded and they sat under the tree again.
“Do you think your feeling has something to do with Naraku?” she asked after a while.
“I don't know. Something is wrong and the end is close.”
They both lowered their heads. Each was concerned about someone else. Kagome was sad for Sango, because she knew that the last shard, was the one that kept Kohaku alive. Inuyasha was thinking if Kikyou was safe.
“Kikyou…be safe until I kill Naraku” was his final thought before he hugged Kagome.
She smiled and watched his black eyes.
“I kind of…ummm…like your human form” she smiled.
“Hmm? Do you like it better than the hanyou form?” he watched her suspicious.
“I like both of them, but when you're human, you're less arrogant and more calm.”
“Am I?”
“Yes” she smiled.
“But I like both of you” the girl said pulling on one of his bangs.
“I sure miss those ears, though” she ended and they both laughed.
He held her tighter and they fell asleep as Inuyasha promised himself to protect her with his life.

Kagura was standing in front of Naraku. Kohaku was somewhere in front of her, looking down.
“What the hell is going on?” Kagura thought angry.
“Kohaku” Naraku spoke.
“It is time. You served me well.”
“Eh?” Kohaku's eyes opened wider and watched the hanyou.
Naraku raised one hand and making a calling move, the shard from the boy's back burst out.
“Huh?” Kagura watched shocked.
The little boy's body fell lifeless on the ground.
“Ane-ue…” was his final thought.
The shard was now in Naraku's hand. He held the jewel in the other and he added the final piece. The Shikon no Tama was hole again.
“Temee…” thought the wind sorcerer.
The hanyou absorbed the jewel and his form began to change. His hair became white and his ears got pointy (like Sesshomaru's), his eyes became red.
“I can feel it” he yelled.
“The power of the jewel”
Kagura thought it was better to leave. She must inform the others that Naraku was stronger now.
She took several steps back and got through the bamboo door.
Naraku's body rearranged itself and all was quiet now. He smiled as his eyes turned bright green. His white hair covered his face as he smiled in contentment. A silhouette was standing in the shadow and seemed to smile with him.
“Inuyasha…prepare yourself. You're end is near.” He laughed.
