Chapter 5: LostProphets
§¤`~*§¤~

"Tonight is the 'big night' eh little brother?" Sesshomaru stirred the spaghetti in the pot. Inuyasha chose to ignore his comment.

"Red or black?" he held up two different shirts. "Hurry up I am kind of cold." his strong muscular chest was revealed, it was still slightly wet from the shower and his hair dripped water on the carpet.

"Black, but I would suggest that you dry off better before you put it on." Sesshomaru commented.

"I know that." Inuyasha walked back into his room only to return a few seconds later.

"Black or Blue?" his choice in pants now.

"Black. Would you like me to dress you too?" Sesshomaru asked mockingly.

"Keh." was his only response.

More time elapsed, Sesshomaru heard the blow dryer turn on and off and Inuyasha emerged fully dressed, except for his shoes - which were never on within the house.

"Fuck. My shoes are white. They will clash." Inuyasha said.

"I don't think she is going to be looking at your shoes. You look very handsome young brother."

"Thanks." Inuyasha did look attractive. The completely black outfit contrasted perfectly with his silver hair and bright amber eye's; making them shine even more. "It's only five thirty? I told her I would pick her up at six fifteen." he exhaled loudly.

"Are you going to eat something?"

"I can't, I am too nervous."

"You have no reason to be."

"What if she doesn't like me?" Inuyasha truly sounded like he had never been on a 'date' with Kagome before.

"Brother. She mated with you didn't she? Just because it has been five hundred years and she doesn't remember you, doesn't mean that she still wont see in you what she saw in you before. Did that help?"

"Yeah Sess. Thanks. I just, I want her to remember, but if she doesn't that is cool too, I just want to be with her."

"You are hopeless. Good luck."

"Hai. Thanks." Inuyasha slipped on his white Nikes and stepped into the elevator. "Bye." he said as the door closed. "Here goes nothing."

"Here goes nothing." Kagome looked at her reflection in the mirror before deciding it was as good as it was going to get. She picked up her discarded outfit - one of the many she had put on before deciding to wear her current outfit. - She had originally planned on wearing a black miniskirt with zippers and pockets galore, with a tight- practically see through- white tank top, but decided against that.

She hung up the outfit and walked downstairs to sit in the living room. "Oh Kagome, you look gorgeous."

"Thanks mom. I am wicked nervous." Kagome sat on the couch with her legs crossed and stared at the clock. "How did Inuyasha convince you to let me go?"

"Oh Inuyasha and I are good friends. I see no problem with him taking you to a concert." her mother seemed to shrug off the fact that she had 'never met' Inuyasha until the other day.

"Well I don't know how he did it, but thank you so much." she stood up and hugged her mother.

"Oh nonsense. You have a good time." no sooner had the words left her mouth then the doorbell rang.

*Should I have brought flowers? No, its a concert, not a date. . . But it is a date. . . crap. *

"Hey Inuyasha" Kagome said cheerfully from the doorway, he hadn't even realized the door had been open.

"Hey Kagome. You look really great." He gazed over her. She was wearing navy blue jeans, very tight with a bit of a flare. A lilac tank-top that allowed it self to be slightly revealed when her purplish blue sweater started falling off her shoulders.

"Thanks. So do you. I love the black outfit, it brings out your eye's." he blushed slightly and offered her his arm, which she accepted.

"Bye Mrs. Higarashi." he called to the woman standing in the hallway.

"You two kids have fun." she walked up to the door and closed it slowly watching the two get into Inuyasha's car.

"This isn't your car is it?" Kagome asked.

"No, it's Sesshomaru's. I didn't feel comfortable bringing mine and letting it sit in a parking garage all night." he opened the passenger's side door and waited for Kagome to get in before closing it and running to the other side. "Ready to have fun?" *Ready to have fun? What kind of a nerd are you?* he mentally slapped himself.

"Hai." she didn't seem to think he was a nerd and smiled happily as they drove to the State Theater.

"I am going to go get a drink." Kagome yelled over the band

"What?" Inuyasha smiled but- since he had a concealing spell on- couldn't hear a thing she was saying. Kagome lifted her hand to her mouth and flicked her wrist up to demonstrate drinking. Inuyasha nodded.

"I'll be right back!" Kagome turned away from Inuyasha and began walking out of the mosh pit.

"Hey, uh two bottled waters. Evian is fine."

"Three dollars." she paid the man and took the water's from him.

"Thanks." she turned around and jumped back in surprise. "Jesus Christ."

"Sorry my son's not in right now." Inuyasha smiled down at Kagome.

"Here, bought you a water. You didn't have to leave, I can handle buying water."

"Are you kidding? In this town even I wouldn't want to be alone." Inuyasha placed a hand gently on her back as they walked back toward the crowd.

"I want to sit here for a sec. I'll be right in." Kagome said. She never realized how closterphobic she was.

"I'll stay with you." Inuyasha scratched his ear as he spoke, "The noise is kind of getting to me." He laughed and let his hand drop back down to his side.

"This is so much fun." Kagome took a long gulp from her bottle, drinking almost the whole bottle.

"Thirsty?" Kagome looked at the almost empty bottle.

"Guess so." she finished the last of the water and threw the bottle into the recycling bin. "Ready?"

"Hai." Inuyasha led Kagome back into the stifling room. The smell of cigarettes and pot filled the room - even though both were prohibited.

"Well lookey here. You are a fine. How would you like to feel some power between those sexy legs?" an older man - roughly late forties - rubbed up against Kagome.

"Excuse me? I don't think so." Kagome responded. Her actions seemed to intrigue the man, he proceeded to continue grinding against her, making thrusting movements into her side. "Leave me alone jerk." she elbowed him in the groin and he stumbled back grabbing his hurt sensitives.

"Okay, okay I am sorry." the guy stalked off. Inuyasha had watched the whole thing, but it happened in a manner of seconds and he couldn't even react before Kagome had handled everything.

"Wow. Nice going Kag." he instinctively hugged her from where he was standing. Her back was to him and her arms lifted to allow him to hold her.

*~I'll miss you too. But I have a geography test. . . I love you. . . I love you. . . I love you. . . ~* Her eye's snapped open, she was still in Inuyasha arms. Everyone was clapping loudly for an encore. She felt her breath speed up, her heart throbbing painfully in her chest.

"You okay Kag?" Inuyasha asked, noticing the change in breathing.

"Mm hmm." she replied. The words repeated over in her mind. "Is that your voice?" she asked out loud.

"Is what, what?" Inuyasha asked.

"Nothing." she smiled happily and turned around, Inuyasha released her reluctantly. "Maybe we should go. They are on their fifth encore and we don't want to get held up in traffic."

"Good point." he followed Kagome back through the crowd and outside into the crisp air.

"This crisp air feels good after being in that stuffy building doesn't it?"

"Hai, it does." she seemed distracted and Inuyasha seemed to notice.

"Hey, I am sorry. I didn't mean to freak you out."

"What?" she turned around to look at him.

"By holding you. I didn't mean to freak you out." he turned his head away from her gaze.

"Oh. You didn't." she continued walking.

The ride home was silent and long. Kagome sat in her own thoughts about the bizarre voice she heard and Inuyasha's thought's filled with reasons Kagome could be so distracted.

"Good night Inuyasha. I had a really great time. Maybe we could hang out again soon." she smiled at him and turned to walk into her house.

"Kagome," she turned back around waiting for him to say more. "Some time. I have something very important to tell you. I was going to tell you tonight, but, it's too soon. I am sorry, I should go."

"Inuyasha? What do you want to tell me?"

"About the marks on your neck. They wont go away. Not as long as you are alive. I can explain those, and your headache's. But not tonight. Call me tomorrow."

Inuyasha didn't wait for a response. He got into the beige Honda civic and drove off. Kagome stood on the front steps a few minutes longer before deciding to go inside. It was well passed two in the morning and she needed to sleep on this. *How could he know so much, about me? Why do I feel like I know just as much about him? But I don't. . . *

Woo hoo. . . I enjoy this story. . . I was thinking of way's to spruce it up a bit. . . I wonder how though. . . well. . . carpe diem - wait. . . wrong expression - ce la vie?- Eh, to heck with it! ^-^
