Chapter 3
~~The Help isn't Helping~~
Hana walked by tree after tree and sighed.
`Why am I here? I could be home, doing something else, helping someone else that wasn't so damn hard to find!' She thought angrily as she almost tripped over a root.
Her youkai chided her. `You're the one who wanted to go. You thought that being with InuYasha would enable you to see Sesshoumaru as well. Who knows? He could be lurking around here right now…InuYasha, I mean.'
Hana's ears twitched this way and that, picking up sounds of the forest around her. Her sharp nose immediately picked up the familiar scent. `There you are you horny bastard!' She thought as she stopped next to an old, tall oak tree. InuYasha's scent was all over the tree. He had been gone for at least ten minutes. She hopped up to the branch where his scent was the strongest and looked around. There were claw markings on the sides, which meant that InuYasha was having a hard time keeping his hands off Kagome. His scent once again filled her nose, and this time, it was fresh; he was coming back. Hana jumped down from the tree and partially hid herself in the tall undergrowth. Just as she expected, InuYasha stepped into view, his head down and a despondent youki swallowing him. `Man,' She thought as she shook her head slightly so as not to disturb the leaves. `Either he said something he shouldn't have and now Kagome won't talk to him anymore, or he did something embarrassing and now he's humiliated beyond repair and never wants to talk to Kagome again. Either way, I still get to rub his nose in it.' Hana grinned at that. That was certainly going to be fun. Just as he was about to jump back up into his lonely little tree, she shifted enough to make the leaves rustle. InuYasha raised his head and sniffed. His eyes widened a little then narrowed to small slits. A small smile plastered on her face, she stepped out from behind the bush.
“Hello,” She said. “My name is Hana, and I'm here to help you.”
He merely stood there in bewilderment. “Huh? Help…help for what?”
“Uh, hello! It's spring, which is Mating Season! It's the most beautiful time of year…for those who are ready, anyway. Speaking of which, I am so ready. Have you, by any chance, seen Sesshoumaru recently?”
A look of horror spread across InuYasha's face. “I'd really rather not know of that bastard brother of mine's life…to which I'm surprised he has one. Anyway, why do you…” His voice faded away. “You're sick.” He said in an obviously sickened voice.
Hana just smiled. “Now, about your problem…” She began.
“I don't have a fucking problem!” InuYasha interrupted.
“Well, actually, you do have a `fucking' problem, if you catch my drift.”
“Oi!”
Hana walked over to InuYasha and grabbed one of the front locks of his hair. “Listen buddy, I came all the way from the freaking east, and whether you like it or not, I'm gonna help you, so get over it!”
He tried to push her hand away, but that only served to cause more pain.
She decided to try the first step: jealousy. “You know InuYasha, it is Mating Season, and I think you know what that means. It means demons from all over are looking to claim mates. I am also perfectly sure that Kagome is a good choice for many demons: a miko who can see jewel shards, hmm, priceless, don't you think? I think you'd better get her before, say, a certain wolf demon shows up and tries to take her away like last time.”
While she was saying this, InuYasha was trying to tug away from her and claw his way up the tree, but when he heard her say those last few words, he froze. As calm as he could he said, “Well, I think I'll be right back. I, uh, have to go to the bathroom. Yeah, I have to go the bathroom.” Breaking away from her grasp, he ran away in frenzied state. Hana chuckled to herself and patted herself on the back. “Oh Hana, you are such a genius, and I am not afraid to say that.” She said as her grin widened. She quietly and leisurely followed InuYasha's trail. She had some time before she would have to step in. `I guess for now I'll just have to sit back and enjoy the show.' She thought as she jumped up into a tree close to where InuYasha had gone. She settled back in the branch and watched the story unfold.

Kagome felt horrible. She had cramps, she felt bloated, and worst of all, her butt felt like it was about to fall off. The cramps weren't so bad, but they were definitely something Kagome could do without. `Ugh,” She thought. `I think I'll go home tomorrow. I just hope InuYasha doesn't get all worked up or want to come with me.' She flopped onto her back, careful not to disturb Shippou. Her fingers fluttered to her lips.
“You're perfect…” He muttered. Kagome's brow furrowed at the voiced thought. “InuYasha, what are you talking about?” She asked, puzzled.
Her question was answered when InuYasha's lips dropped down onto hers.
He pushed the bag out of the way and pulled her into an embrace. His lips gently caressed hers; he did not try to deepen the kiss. He finally broke away from her. Kagome's eyes were still closed as she lowered her head and whispered, “Why did you stop?”
“Because,” InuYasha stated, “I wouldn't be able to stop myself if I continued.”
This caused her to raise her head and open her eyes. “InuYasha…”
She had enjoyed that moment, surely, and she cherished it to her heart. She never wanted to forget that wonderful kiss. His lips were so smooth, she couldn't help but wonder if he had gone and dug through her backpack and found her chapstick. Certainly, he couldn't have because he said himself that he hated that stuff with a passion.
`InuYasha…Where are you?'
As if hearing her words, InuYasha came bounding out of the forest, and cautiously edged over to where she lay. She heard him sigh; it was a mixture of relief and sorrow. Kagome cracked one eye open ever so slightly to see him. He was sitting on his haunches, his back to her.
`It's almost as if...he's protecting me from something.' She thought as she watched his ears going every way possible. Kagome opened her eyes all the way and took a quick look around. Her gaze settled on the trees and she saw something that startled her: a pair of glowing, round golden eyes. She gasped and sat up to grab InuYasha.
“InuYasha!” She whispered harshly. “InuYasha, there's someone in the trees watching us.”
InuYasha was immediately on his feet and walking cautiously towards the trees. Kagome could see that the eyes were gone; it left, or it closed its eyes. The next thing she heard was a loud crack, a female voice yelling “Oh, you did not just do what I think you did.” and then what sounded like punches were being thrown. Worried, Kagome scrambled to her feet, grabbed her bow and arrows, and dashed into the forest. Her eyes widened at the sight of two silver-haired hanyous on the ground, punching and smacking each other. Something welled up inside her. Before she could stop herself, she burst out with laughter that infinitely spilled over. The scuffling instantly stopped, and the two hanyous stared incredulously at her. Kagome doubled over and rested against a tree for support. Tears were starting to fall from her eyes from so much laughter and her face was flushed. After a few minutes of all-out guffaws, Kagome managed to control herself. When she looked up, InuYasha and the other hanyou were standing in front of her. The other hanyou, a female, looked unbelievably just like InuYasha.
“InuYasha,” She said slowly. “I never knew you had a sister. How come you never told me?”
The female hanyou barked out a terse laugh. “InuYasha…my brother?” She turned her head to face InuYasha. “Do you think we could possibly be related and not kill each other?”
InuYasha looked skeptical. “No, I don't think we could be related without killing each other. You see my relationship with Sesshoumaru…if you want to call it a relationship, anyway.”
The hanyou smiled and half-hugged him. “See, that's why we get along so well…bastard.”
InuYasha clicked his tongue. “Right back at you…bitch.”
Kagome stared and shook her head. “So then, who is she?” She asked, her tone clipped.
The female hanyou took the liberty of introducing herself. “Hello, my name is Hana, and I have come to…visit…InuYasha…” Hana sniffed the air. “Oh my; InuYasha, it seems as if my visit is going to be longer than I thought.”
Kagome raised an eyebrow. “Why's that?” She asked.
Hana stopped short, and her eyes widened as she thought of an excuse. “Um…because….We have….so much to catch up on!” A wide smile spread across her face. “Your friends must be really heavy sleepers to have slept through this.”
“Nah,” InuYasha piped up. “They're most likely awake. They're probably trying to listen in like they always do.”
Kagome picked up her bow and arrows that she dropped when she was having her laughing fit. “Well, I'm going to go back to sleep.”
“Good idea.” Hana said. She turned to face InuYasha. “I suggest you do the same; something tells me you're going to need to be all rested up for tomorrow.” With a smile, she turned away and walked deeper into the forest.
“Hana, wait!” He called. “What do I need to rest up for?”
Hana stopped and turned her head to the side. With a mischievous grin, she said, “You'll see, InuYasha. You'll see.”
