Chapter 5
~~Mixed Feelings~~
In front of Hana stood the man she had been waiting a lifetime to see.~~Mixed Feelings~~
“Sesshoumaru…” She said as she stood up slowly.
Sesshoumaru’s face was blank as usual, but Hana could see the emotion within. She cautiously walked to him until she was an arms length from him. From there, she flung herself at him, wrapping her arms around him as much as she could. His arm hesitantly resided on her hip, and he rested his head on hers. The only sound heard was InuYasha’s jaw dropping to the ground.
A barely there smile appeared on Sesshoumaru’s face. “Do not be jealous because I, Sesshoumaru, can get a girl and you cannot, InuYasha.”
InuYasha’s mouth immediately closed and opened several times. He stood up and walked over to where the two were embracing.
“Good God, hell must’ve frozen over or something.” He said as he stood there, still gawking at them.
A sharp wind hit the back of his head, making him stumble forward. The word “baka” was heard from Hana, who was still buried in Sesshoumaru’s Mokomoko-sama. Only one word came from InuYasha’s youkai.
‘Dumbass…’
He sighed and watched as Hana continued to suffocate herself in the white fur.
‘I wonder how Kagome’s doing...’

Kouga was slowly coming to. That bitch was going to pay, and she was going to pay dearly, especially for showing him up in front of Kagome. He could feel someone’s hands working tenderly on the wounds on his back. He tried to move his arm from his side when an intense pain ripping through him stopped the process.“Ooh, Kouga, don’t move. You’ve got to stay still or I won’t be able to wrap you and you won’t heal properly.” A gentle voice said.
Kouga’s sharp nose breathed in Kagome’s wonderful scent and he sighed in satisfaction. No injury was bad enough to keep him from enjoying her presence. Minutes ticked by, the blissful feeling of her hands against his skin was incredible. He could feel his skin jump every now and then when she brushed by a sensitive part, or something cold was put onto his back. As soon as it had come, the special moment was gone. The mood had been destroyed when he saw InuYasha and the other bitch come breezing out of the forest along with someone he didn’t know. Kouga still didn’t know her name, did he? She tore through him before she mentioned her name. However, that was mostly his fault, wasn’t it? Of course, although he would never admit it, it was his fault. When she had stopped in front of him and Kagome, Kouga fought back the pain as he forced himself to lean on his elbows to look at the female hanyou.
He was shocked to see the look of compassion on her face. “Hey, Kouga, I’m really sorry for what happened earlier. I hope you can forgive me for that.” She said, holding out her hand.
Kouga studied her for a moment. She had seemed sincere, yet he felt like he could not trust her.
‘Oh, screw it all.’ He thought as he firmly took her hand. He pulled back when a blue light erupted from her hand, but she would not let go. He could feel the light traveling through his body, a million sensations being sent to his brain. The pain shooting through his arms and back vanished. As soon as the light faded and the sensations went away, Kouga forcefully pulled his hand back and stood up in his half-naked clad glory. The female hanyou was smiling proudly. Behind him, he heard Kagome gasp.
“Kouga…all the scrapes and cuts on your back…are gone.” She said, staring disbelievingly at his now healed back.
“So, you also have the ability to heal…Nice.” He said, scowling at her. “By the way, I don’t believe I caught your name.”
Her proud smile was still there. “My name is Hana, and I just kicked your ass and healed it too.” InuYasha chuckled from where he was standing, which was right next to the demon Kouga didn’t know.
“So who’s that standing next to dog-shit over there?” He asked, nodding his head past Hana.
She turned to glance at the two demons, one of them scowling darkly at the other.
“This,” she replied. “Is Sesshoumaru…”
Under her breath she added, “He’s my mate.”
Behind her, InuYasha snorted while Sesshoumaru stayed silent. Her smile had turned into a smirk. That’s when Miroku and Sango stepped onto the scene.
“What’s going on InuYasha?” Sango asked as she walked up beside him.
For the first time in his life, InuYasha was speechless. He wasn’t sure how to explain the current situation. It was just too unbelievable to be real. Hana and Sesshoumaru having known each other from long ago, and being in love? Her being able to hurt and heal seemed a tad strange.
“InuYasha?” Miroku said, voicing a quiet concern.
“I…I don’t know. Hana and Sesshoumaru are in love, Hana can kick ass and heal it too, and my head hurts rather badly.” He said, rubbing his throbbing head and sinking down to the ground.
Kouga put his top back on and turned to face Kagome, taking her hands in his and squeezing them.
“Kagome, I’m sorry, but I must take my leave now. I shall return though, and I will take you with me.”
“The hell you will!” InuYasha yelled from his spot on the ground.
“Yes, the hell I will.” Kouga chuckled, malevolence tainting it lightly.
Giving Kagome’s hands one last squeeze, Kouga disappeared in a twister of dirt.

Kagome hefted her backpack over her shoulder and started her climb up the well. Getting back here wasn’t hard at all; in fact, it seemed as if InuYasha wanted her to go. His nervousness was starting to make her wonder just what he was hiding. Sango had also suggested that she go home for a few days. Hana was busy trying to see if she could get Sesshoumaru’s arm to grow back, saying that sex just wasn't any good with only one arm.‘Hopefully,’ she thought as she exited the well house. ‘Hojo won’t bother me this time. He’s nice and all, but he just can’t seem to take the hint I don’t like him. I really should tell him…’
She would have to get to that later, for right now, she had a date with the bathtub.
Later, as Kagome eased into the soothing water, she thought of InuYasha and her non-existent relationship with him. She loved him, and she wondered if he loved her as well. His feelings for Kikyou were evident, and he made it clear by saying that he would go to hell with her if that were what she wished. The pain she had hid so long ago resurfaced; a grimace spread across her face, and she sunk lower in the water. Hot tears stung the back of her eyes but did not fall as she reminisced on the days she wished she had never met InuYasha.
Kagome was going to find InuYasha; he had mysteriously disappeared again. Something told her not to go looking for him, to just leave well enough alone. But she didn’t listen to that voice, and later on she regretted it deeply.
“No, Kikyou, I’ve always loved you, and I’ll never stop loving you.” The familiar voice cut Kagome to the quick. She peeked around the trees to see InuYasha and Kikyou in an embrace. Tears welled up in her eyes as they widened at the sight displayed before her. Kagome slumped against the tree and choked back sobs. Several minutes later, she could hear him calling her name.
“…Kagome?” He said cautiously.
She scrambled to her feet to face him. She could barely lift her eyes to meet his, and when they did, InuYasha cringed. Kagome grabbed her bag and ran for the well. The sound of feet running behind her caused her to run faster. She reached the well, but not before InuYasha got in front of her. She wiped her eyes as she yelled, “InuYasha, get the hell out of my way!”
He immediately moved, knowing fully well, what her anger usually led to. She hopped down the well, and on her way, she yelled ‘sit’, and the sound of his pain calmed her.
Kagome couldn’t stop thinking of the day she actually thought that InuYasha loved her back, but then he just went straight back to Kikyou.
‘I wish that stupid bitch would die, already!’ She thought angrily. She gasped when she realized what she just thought. Did she really feel that way towards Kikyou? Kikyou was there first, so did she not have first dibs on him? Kagome was just going to have to let him go, wasn’t she? That’s exactly what she needed to do, and she was going to do it the day after tomorrow. For, as of right now, she felt horrible. She still had her period – it was only the second day – and she had some homework she needed to catch up on. Kagome soaked a little while longer before getting out.
‘I love you InuYasha, but it’s time to say goodbye…’

Sesshoumaru stared disbelievingly at his newly grown arm. Hana had merely been experimenting, but she had somehow caused his severed arm to grow back. He flexed his fingers and held them up in the sunlight. Hana stood in front of him, her face beaming.“So,” He drawled. “I suspect you will want something in return for this?”
She sat herself down next to him. “Just you’re undying love and affection.”
Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes at her request. He did not wish to comply, yet he could not ignore this strange burning sensation in his soul. He eventually found out that passion was for burning for her.
With his new hand, he reached over and cupped her cheek. Leaning over, he planted a gentle kiss on her soft lips. When he pulled away, Hana was swaying, looking as if she were about to pass out. He shook his head and stood up. The scent on the wind had changed, but only to a point that only he or Hana could notice. Hana’s nose was just as strong as Sesshoumaru’s, and turned to see if she noticed. She was still slightly dazed, but her eyebrows were scrunched together, which usually meant she was deep in thought.
‘Give her time…she’ll figure it out eventually.’ His youkai said.
‘Yes, but if I give her too much time, she might contemplate a plan to jump me later. You of all people should know that. Even I know that.’ He reasoned.
Sesshoumaru felt an argument coming on when Hana interjected.
“Sesshoumaru, do you feel that? It feels as if something bad is going to happen.” She said, now standing.
The once sunny day had turned cloudy, and the wind was picking up each hour. The trees swayed in rhythm, the leaves turning to reveal their white underside. Dark clouds were coming in from the east, and Sesshoumaru knew that the rains were approaching. The monk and demon exterminator were in the woods, looking for firewood. He was relieved they were not there to get in the mix of what was about to happen.
The wind blowing about was now swirling in a circle around them. In the dark shadows of the wind, a figure emerged.
“The bastard…” Sesshoumaru heard Hana mutter.
InuYasha came barreling out of the forest and dropped down into the tornado.
“InuYasha, that’s not an imitation!” Hana whispered above the roar of the wind.
He smirked. “So, showing yourself for real this time, eh Naraku?”

A/N:< br> More revisions! Just....forget EVERYTHING about that 'Kiyoshi' guy. In fact, forget that I ever mentioned him. You do and I'll give you a cookie and another chapter. ^_^
Disclaimer: I’ve noticed I’ve been forgetting to put disclaimers in, so here it is. I don’t own InuYasha, because if I did, I’d be paid a lot, but I wouldn’t really be able to do much with it because I’d be overworked. Rumiko Takahashi is one hell of a woman.
