Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Inuyasha! If I did, Kagome and Inuyasha would have been boyfriend and girlfriend since the first episode, you didn’t see that going on do you?

Previously in Chapter 1: “ Wait Kagome,” Akira started, “ I have to tell you something.” “What is it?”

“Do you really want to prove yourself?”

“ Yes mother!” Kagome said eagerly.

“ You truly want to?” Akira asked.

“ Yes more than anything!” Kagome exclaimed.

“ Good because you’re getting married to the prince of the South!” Akira said, hoping that her daughter did not hear the last part.

“ Thank you! I…WHAT!?” Kagome yelled. Birds flew away from the branches of the trees and ran for cover.

“ What do you mean I’m getting married?” Kagome demanded.

“ Well, your father wanted you to get an arranged marriage with prince Kouga. It’s more of an issue that you should take up to your father.” Akira explained.

Kagome ran down the hill and started down the cobblestone path back into the palace.
“ Wait Kagome!” she yelled to her daughter but was no use.

“ Huh, marriage! What’s up your sleeve this time father?” Kagome thought as she continued to near the palace.

Now on to Chapter 2...

Chapter 2:
Why Father?
*************************************************************** ***************

Kagome was racing down the huge, spacious halls of her palace to her father’s study. “ Good morning Princess Kagome.” a palace maid said. Kagome turned around. A girl was standing there. She looked like around Kagome’s age. She had waist length, wavy light brown hair and ocean blue eyes. Her kimono was a beautiful shade of purple and blue and the skirt reached to the top part of her ankle and the sleeves were not wide like Kagome’s. “ Anaya, have you seen my father?” Anaya nodded, “ Yes, Emperor Kenta is in his chamber” “ Thanks!” Kagome ran off. “ Wait! What’s wrong?” Anaya yelled. “ I’ll explain later!” Kagome yelled. “ Oh dear…” Anaya thought.

Panting, Kagome had made it to the enormous golden and emerald colored doors that lead to her father’s chamber. Out of fury, she bursted through the doors. “ FATHER!” Kagome yelled. “What’s going on Kagome?” Emperor Kenta asked. Kagome turned to face her father. The man had midnight black hair and royal blue colored eyes. He wore armor and had a katana hanging by his right hip. He was standing next to the enormous window that flooded the room with sunshine and had a beautiful look of the imperial city and the rolling, lush, wild flower filled green hills. The walls were painted a golden yellow and a forest green.

“ Father, I want some answers. Why am I being arranged to get married?” Kagome asked sternly.

“ Kagome, I--” Kenta tried to explain.

“ Father, you know that I don’t believe in arranged marriage. I always believe that the couple have to be madly in love to bind their destinies together, heck, at least know how they look like!” Kagome explained.

“ Listen, your mother has told me that you felt less important than your elder sister, Kikyou,
So think of this as a way to prove yourself to the country by marrying prince Kouga of the South. Plus, it‘ll fore an alliance.”

Kagome made a disgusted face, “ Father, I do want to prove myself, not in this way! Especially meaning I have to marry Kouga! Father, I have heard that he rapes his wives! Remember what happened to Reika?” Kagome asked.

“ Yes I know the Eastern princess.” Kenta responded. “ That bastard killed my friend and I hate him with all my strength and I will never marry him.” Kagome hissed.

“ Kagome,--”

“ No father!”

“ Listen--”

“ I won’t listen!’

After one minute, Kenta grew tired and angry with her little game. “ Listen hear you impertinent child!” Kenta yelled. Kagome went wide eyed when her father yelled like that. The only time Kagome heard that tone of voice was when her father yelled out commands to the soldiers. “You will marry Kouga. You will not complain and you will form a family with him.. Do I make my self clear.” he declared.

Kagome narrowed her eyes hatefully, “ And what if I don’t.” she hissed. Kenta returned the look of hate, “ You will be sent to the tower and be exiled from the country.” he hissed back.

Kagome stood silent. She knows what happens if you ever get sent to the ominous tower, Himeji. All the countries’ worst traitors and blood- thirsty bandits get sent there for three years as they slowly meet their fate, execution by a guillotine. Exiles get it worse. Before they are sent to be executed, they are thrown into a room where angry dogs start to maul the person. After two grueling hours, they pick up the nearly dead body and send them to the roof the tower. There, it oversees the ominous obsidian black mountains covered in mist along with the dead forest. It’ll be the last thing the person will see. The mere thought was enough to send chills up Kagome’s spine.

“ Your answer?” Kenta asked. Kagome glared at him with hateful eyes, “ Alright. But…” Kagome started, “ If I were to perish by Kouga’s hand after I marry him, with the last vestiges of my strength, I will place a curse on the family that only my reincarnation will have the power to break.” The words dripped out her mouth like a serpent’s venom dripping from its deadly fangs.

“ Is that a threat? ” Kenta asked angrily.

“ Yes it is. Good day.” Kagome said as she walked out of the room, leaving cold and eerie feeling in the air. “ You will marry Kouga wench, one way or another…” Kenta thought.

Kagome walked through the long and enormous halls of the palace, searching for Kikyou. “ A mere threat will never scare father. I need to find Kikyou for advice.” she thought.
