InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Tangled Threads of Destiny ❯ Chapter 3
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Inuyasha! If I did, Kagome and Inuyasha would have been boyfriend and girlfriend since the first episode, you didn’t see that going on do you?
Previously in Chapter 2: “ Listen hear you impertinent child!” Kenta yelled. Kagome went wide eyed when her father yelled like that. The only time Kagome heard that tone of voice was when her father yelled out commands to the soldiers. “You will marry Kouga. You will not complain and you will form a family with him.. Do I make my self clear.” he declared.
Kagome narrowed her eyes hatefully, “ And what if I don’t.” she hissed. Kenta returned the look of hate, “ You will be sent to the tower and be exiled from the country.” he hissed back.
Kagome stood silent. She knows what happens if you ever get sent to the ominous tower, Himeji. All the countries’ worst traitors and blood- thirsty bandits get sent there for three years as they slowly meet their fate, execution by a guillotine. Exiles get it worse. Before they are sent to be executed, they are thrown into a room where angry dogs start to maul the person. After two grueling hours, they pick up the nearly dead body and send them to the roof the tower. There, it oversees the ominous obsidian black mountains covered in mist along with the dead forest. It’ll be the last thing the person will see. The mere thought was enough to send chills up Kagome’s spine.
“ Your answer?” Kenta asked. Kagome glared at him with hateful eyes, “ Alright. But…” Kagome started, “ If I were to perish by Kouga’s hand after I marry him, with the last vestiges of my strength, I will place a curse on the family that only my reincarnation will have the power to break.” The words dripped out her mouth like a serpent’s venom dripping from its deadly fangs.
“ Is that a threat? ” Kenta asked angrily.
“ Yes it is. Good day.” Kagome said as she walked out of the room, leaving cold and eerie feeling in the air. “ You will marry Kouga wench, one way or another…” Kenta thought.
Kagome walked through the long and enormous halls of the palace, searching for Kikyou. “ A mere threat will never scare father. I need to find Kikyou for advice.” she thought.

Chapter 3:
Advice
*************************************************** *****
“ Kikyou?” Kagome asked as she knocked next to the shoji door. “ Come in Kagome!” Kikyou chirped brightly. Kagome opened the shoji door and walked in. Kikyou’s room was a beautiful shade of azure blue and the room was engulfed in illuminating sunlight. The biggest window in the room was open so the warm late summer breeze refreshed the room.
In the middle of the room, Kikyou was kneeling in front of a small pedestal. Her hands were joined together in prayer and she was quietly chanting something. A soft pink glow was in front of her. The Shikon No Tama was there hanging by a chain on a hanger. Kikyou had her extremely, long, beautiful raven hair tied behind her head by a silk white ribbon in a hairstyle so that two locks of hair on each side of her head formed two loops. She had her chocolate brown eyes closed and she wore her comfy, green kimono, which had a rosy pink sash tied around her waist and water lily designs were decorating the kimono.
She opened her eyes and turned around to face Kagome. “ What do you need Kagome? You look disturbed.” Kikyou asked concern. “ How does this sound to you: I am arranged, no forced to marry the murder of my best friend Reika Kouga in five weeks!” Kagome lashed out.
Kikyou made a disgusted face and stood up, “ That bastard Kouga!? The bastard should be better off burning in hell than to be alive hell, let alone rule a country!” Kikyou raged. “ Father told you to marry him? For what?”
“ Apparently to for an alliance and unite the kingdoms, blah, blah, blah.” Kagome rolled her eyes.
“ No, you know what he has done to his past wives in the past! I won’t sit back and watch my little sister get abused and raped by that monster! Come on, let’s go to father!” Kikyou yelled and grabbed Kagome’s wrist tightly and tried to drag her to her father.
“ Ow! Kikyou there’s no need to be rough! Besides, I already told Father that I’m going to marry him, even though I don’t want to.” Kagome said.
“ What! Kagome are you that crazy and reckless?! Your going to get killed!” Kikyou reacted.
“ What other choice do I have!? Being sent to Himeji as an exile!? Really, if I don’t marry him, my days are counted. Besides, I threatened him that if I die while I’m married to Kouga, I will put a curse on the family that my reincarnation has the power to break. ” Kagome yelled.
“ Are you really that capable of that threat?” Kikyou asked stunned. Kagome nodded, “ I always keep my word. I swear I‘ll go through it.”
Kikyou mused and pondered for a very long time until she spoke, “ I’m at a loss for words Kagome. You, facing these circumstances and vowing to keep your threat at all costs if you die… Kagome, I don’t agree with your decision, but I sense that you will come to a crossroad very soon. That crossroad will determine your destined fate. I’ll I can say is be careful Kagome in choosing that path and you have my blessings.”
Kagome smiled, “ Thank you sister.”
“ Your welcome.” Kikyou responded. “ If I were you, I would go ask the advice of my close friends.”
“ Your right.” Kagome said. “ I’m going to tell the others. I’ll leave you your work.” Kagome walked away to the door and Kikyou returned to purifying the jewel.
‘ First, I’m going to ask Anaya. I don’t know how will she react…’ Kagome thought as she walked through the halls of the palace.
Moments later, she arrived at the kitchen were Anaya was sweeping the floor.
“ Anaya!” Kagome exclaimed.
Anaya turned around and cheered, “ Kagome- sama!” Anaya went up to hug Kagome and she hugged back.
“ What happened? Why did you have such urgency to talk to your father?” Anaya said after the embrace.
“ Anaya, you need to sit down.” Kagome advised. Anaya did what she was told. She sat down on a wooden chair and she held the jug of water and a ceramic cup. “ Do you want some water?” Anaya asked generously asked. Kagome replied, “ No thank you.” Kagome replied. “ Alright.” Anaya replied and she poured herself a cup. “ So what’s wrong?” Anaya asked after she took a drink of her water and held her cup in her right hand.” “ Anaya,” Kagome started, “ I don’t know how will you react but, I am forced to marry Kouga, the murder of your older sister.”
“ WHAT!?” Anaya’s cup shattered in her hand and the pieces fell to the ground were it shattered into more little pieces. Her right hand was in a tight fist, crimson red blood oozed from her palm as the pieces of razor-sharp clay pierced her skin and it dripped to the ground, staining the other pieces of clay at the bottom.
“ Anaya your hand!” Kagome exclaimed. She ran to a cupboard and grabbed some cloth. “That doesn’t matter to me.” Anaya growled. Kagome was taken back. Anaya was trembling in pure hate and anger, her eyes had the most horrible look of malice and it was also dropping tears of anger; a side of her friend Kagome never saw. “ Let me see your hand.” Kagome calmly asked. Anaya reluctantly held out her hand. Her right palm was soaked in crimson red blood and pieces of clay were stuck into her hand. She started to clean her hand.
“ So your going to marry that son of a bitch?” Anaya hissed.
“ I have no other option.” Kagome replied.
“ What do you mean you have no other option! What were your options!?” Anaya demanded. She then hissed in pain. “ Anaya stay still.” Kagome warned as she removed a big piece of a clay shard from her palm. “ My options were to either marry him or be sent to Himeji as an exile of the country.” Anaya stayed silent. “ That bastard killed my sister Reika, overthrew my parents, killed them and replaced my parents with someone else to rule my kingdom and now he want’s to target you!?” Anaya yelled. “ Kagome I don’t know what to say but why? Why are you sacrificing yourself?”
Kagome, done wrapping her hand, replied, “ I do what I do. Besides, I vowed to myself that if I die while I’m with Kouga, I will put a curse on the family that only my reincarnation has the power to break.” Anaya thought for some more and said, “ All I could say is good luck and be cautious.”
“ I will.” Kagome smirked. She stood up and walked to the door that lead outside. “ Where are you going?” Anaya asked. “ To the western lands.” She replied sternly.
Kagome walked to the stables and went to a stall. A horse was there. It had the most beautiful shade of brown and blotches of white were splattered on its coat.
“ Hi Kazu!” Kagome smiled. Kazu snorted. “ Let’s go.” Kagome said. She entered the pin and grabbed a burlap sack in the corner and mounted him.
They rode out the palace unseen and into the deep forest.
