Previously in chapter 7...
They were silent for a couple of minutes until Kagome broke the silence, “ So Taisho, have you ever had a girlfriend?” “ Why should I ask him that!? That’s personal issues!”
“ I only had one.”
“ What?” Kagome asked. “ I only ever had one girlfriend. We were about to get married. Her name was Keiko.”
“ Wait, ‘was’, is she…” Kagome trailed off.
Taisho looked to the ground, “ Yeah, two months ago. She went peacefully in her sleep, or so her parents say.”
Kagome looked somber, “ I so sorry.”
“ Yeah.” Taisho sighed. ‘ I knew I should have asked him that…’ Kagome thought. “ You don’t have to be sad,” Taisho said, “ She was very ill for a month and it made me feel hurt inside to think that she slowly suffering and dying and I couldn’t protect her from the illness. So when she died, it felt that I was the one responsible for her death, and then….”
“ What happened?’ Kagome asked, some sadness in her voice. Taisho stopped walking and looked up at the sky, “ She appeared. After her burial, I was the only one there and she appeared and she told me that I shouldn’t mourn her death and that I should be glad that she wasn’t suffering anymore, then I kissed her goodbye and she disappeared.” He kept walking. Kagome followed.
“ So how about you? Have you ever had a boyfriend?” Kagome looked at him, “ No not really.”
“ Aw, come on! Quit lying! Someone as beautiful as you should have one. Taisho retorted. “Crap! Did I just call her beautiful?”
Kagome turned red, “ He called me beautiful…”
“ Ummm…… What I mean is….” Taisho stammered, “ Your pretty, you should have one.”
“ Well, I never had one.” Kagome retorted. Taisho nodded.
They reached a fork in the trail. “ Well, you should get to your village from here right?” Taisho said.
“ Yeah.” Kagome said. “ Hey Taisho, do you mind that if I come to visit for awhile next time, you know, as friends?” “ Yeah, that would be great.” Taisho smirked. “ Great!” Kagome said running off to one of the trails, “ See ya later Taisho!” Kagome yelled running backwards, waving and turned forward still running.
“ Yeah see ya!” Taisho exclaimed and he turned back and started walking back to his village.

Chapter 8:
Suspicions, meeting Kagome’s husband- to- be, and Kikyou’s surprise

Kazu and Kagome galloped through the trail, making the stop where Kagome hid her royal clothes. They continued to make there way through the busy streets unseen. She made it to the palace walls when she saw Anaya. “ Hey Anaya!” Kagome yelled out. Anaya, whose arms were filled with bags from the market, turned around startled and yelled, “ Hey Kagome where were you?”
Kagome rode up to her, jumped off Kazu, and handed her the reins. “ No time to explain, must be inside the wall before I get caught, take him to the stables, thank you!” Kagome ran to the gate breathless. “ Ummm…. Okay.” Anaya quietly said confused. Kazu snorted and reached a sleeve of her old dress. “ Hey don’t eat that!” She reached for an apple, “ Eat this!” the horse ate off her palm and she giggled. “ Come on let’s go.”
Kagome raced through the gates, which were ironically not guarded, and she sighed. “ Home free….” Kagome thought relived.
“ Kagome, where have you been!?”
That voice rang through Kagome’s ears. All she could think was, “ Oh, shit….” She turned around and saw her mother standing under a willow tree. She was dressed in her fancy lavender kimono.
“ Mother, Heh…heh.., I didn’t see you there.” Kagome tried to sound relaxed but her mother gave her a “ Do I look stupid to you” look. “ Guess that didn’t work…” Kagome thought.
“ Kagome, I didn’t buy that. Where have you been? You were gone all day and you didn’t inform anyone where you were.”
Kagome sighed, “ I was at the western lands all day with my friends. It got too dark for me to travel back here so I slept over, satisfied?”
Her mother sighed, “ Alright, that sounds like a believable story. Just don’t do that again.” Kagome beamed, “ Thanks, mother!” She ran off to the palace and her mother just shook her head, “ That child sometimes.”
Moments later, Kagome made it to her room, were she was sitting on the window sill looking outside.
“ Kagome?”
“ Yeah come in.” Kagome replied.
Anaya walked in and closed the door behind her. “ Hey Anaya.” Kagome greeted.
“ As much as I want to chat with you, I can’t. Your father wants you to go to his study.”
“ Why?” she questioned.
Anaya scoffed, “ I don’t know. I just follow orders.”
Kagome groaned, “ What does he want this time?” She jumped off the sill and walked to the hallway. “ Here we go again…” she sighed as she made it to the huge doors. She opened the door and said, “ You called?”
“ Yes, there is someone here to see you.” Kenta walked to a door and opened it. A young man walked out. He had midnight black hair that was tied into a ponytail, light blue eyes, and tan skin. He wore what any prince would wear but the insignia on his sleeve caught Kagome off guard. “ That’s….”
“ Kagome, this is Kouga, your future husband.” Kenta announced. Kouga walked to Kagome and held her soft hands into his hard, callused hands. “ Hello Kagome, I can’t wait to we get married.” He slyly said.
“ Unlike your past wives, I’m not easy to fool. I don’t know what kind of sick plan you intend to follow after the wedding but let me get this clear, don’t you ever lay a hand on me.”
“ Kagome! Show respect for your visitors! I‘m terribly sorry for that little outburst Kouga ”
“ Not a problem Kenta.” Kouga reassured. ‘ This one is a lot more stubborn the other bitches I killed before. Its going to be a challenge…. I like it.’
Kenta and Kouga started talking about political issues moments later. Kagome just sat there, pretending that she was listening by giving occasional nods of agreements or acting to be shocked when surprising news was revealed. In reality, her mind was in deep thought.
“ I’m not going to embrace death that easily like your past wives Kouga! I’m more stronger than that. I will find a way.”
Out of no where, Kagome thought about Taisho. “ What? Why am I thinking of him? Taisho is my friend, I shouldn’t think about him in a romantic way, but still….. I wonder what he’s doing right now? I would give anything to be with him right now ( sigh)….”
After what seemed an hour, which was actually half an hour, they all excused themselves to leave. “ Hold on Kagome!” Kouga exclaimed.
Kagome turned around, “ As much as I want to stay and chat, I can’t.”
“ Nonsense! Kagome stay here and chat with Kouga. After all , you are getting married in five weeks.” Kenta explained and left the room. Kouga waited and he grabbed both of Kagome’s wrist in a painful grip.
“ WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT!?” Kagome hissed. “ I don’t know who you thnk you are, but you are going to follow every wish and whim after we get married.”
“ I am not clueless like you previous wives. I will not let myself get raped and killed by the likes of you. I will destroy you.” Kagome threatened with a look of hate and disgust.
“ You will or you will meet the exact same death like the rest of them. Do you understand bitch?” Kouga hissed.
Kagome managed to escape his painful grip, knees him, punched him in the face and gut hard enough to send him flying to the nearby wall.
“ I WILL NOT BE UNDERESTIMATED BY YOU! I’M NOT EASY TO GIVE IN TO YOU!” she angrily declared. Kagome ran out of the room fast.
Kouga slowly got up and wiped the blood oozing from the corner of his mouth. “ You will be my most enjoyable wife yet Kagome…. Too bad your going to die “ accidentally” Kouga chuckled manically.
Kagome ran through the hallways and made it outside in search of Kikyou. “ She has to know what happened…” Kagome was going to call her name until she saw something near the lake. She hid behind a bush near enough to listen.
“ What are you doing?” Kagome saw Anaya standing with a basket in her hands.
“ Shh…. I’m spying on Kikyou.” Kagome whispered. Anaya placed her basket on the grass and tiptoed next to Kagome.
“ Who she talking to?” Anaya whispered. Kagome peered above the bush and gasped, “ Kikyou and Sesshomaru?”
“ What?” Anaya looked ahead.
Kikyou and Sesshomaru were chatting. “ Kikyou, there is a reason for why I am here.” Sesshomaru explained.
“ Yes, what is it?” She asked.
Sesshomaru sighed, “ Do you believe in love at first sight?”
Kikyou blushed, “ I-uh- kinda…”
“ I never did, until I met you.”
“ What are you trying to say?”
“ I- damn it, I love you Kikyou!” Sesshomaru exclaimed. Kikyou widened her eyes. Among the bushes, the news was jaw- dropping to Kagome and Anaya.
“ You- you love me?” Kikyou stammered. “ I love you too! Tell him! Tell him!….” her inner begin cheered. She started to shed tears of happiness, “ I love you too!” Kikyou cheered. Back at the bushes, Anaya was happy and Kagome made gagging noises. “ Well Kikyou was always overdramatic….” she thought.
Out of the blue, Sesshomaru gently kissed on the lips. Stunned at first, Kikyou kissed him back and wrapped her arms around him and he did the same.
“ Aww…. How cute!” Kagome’s voice exclaimed. Surprised, Kikyou and Sesshomaru fell over and slashed into the water. Anaya popped out of the bush. “ Yeah, a nice scene ruined…. High five Kagome!” Anaya exclaimed.
Kikyou sat up, drenched in water, and yelled, “ Kagome! What the hell was that for?!”
“ Sorry I needed to talk to you, but I see that your lips were to busy!” Kagome teased. Kikyou blushed. “ You don’t need to explain, I’ll just tell you later. Have fun lovebirds.” Kagome giggled and her and Anaya walked away. Sesshomaru and Kikyou simply shrugged and continued kissing passionately in the setting sun.
