Chapter Seven: I Love You

Tomo carefully placed the rest of the tests in his briefcase. He'd have to go home and finish checking them. A knock on the classroom door brought him to the present. He nodded as the principal walked in.

"How long shall you be absent?" the principal asked.

Tomo shrugged. "No more then a few days, I assume."

"Take the rest of this week, then. You will be coming back, correct?"

Tomo nodded and then looked at the principal curiously. "What makes you think I won't?" he asked

The principal sighed, "I heard you took the title as Lord of the Mountains. I didn't think a Lord would wish to teach at such a petty school."

"One day, I shall have an heir. He'll come to this school and be taught by these teachers," Tomo spoke softly. "My time here has given me the chance to decide whether I really should let him come here. Besides, I didn't start teaching because I thought the school was petty. I enjoy teaching. It gives me something to do."

The principal nodded and smiled in understanding. "Many demons start teaching for the same reason. Gives us a chance to do something other than fight... So, this human girl you are going to trial for... is she going to be attending this school as well?"

Tomo nodded. "I want the best for Asakura. I will accept only the best for her. I know she is human, but..."

"She is your mate?" the principal finished, inquiring.

The spider shook his head. "If spiders took mates, then yes, she would be my mate. As it stands, no, she is not my mate. I hope her time in this school will provide her with a suitable mate..."

"Why do you wish her to mate with a demon? Why not her own kind?"

"She all ready knows of us. I don't think a human mate would be enough for her anymore. Even if he were, he wouldn't be able to protect her," he said, honestly.

"What of the demonslayers? They are human. Perhaps there is one there who would take her as his mate?" the principal tried.

Tomo tilted his head and lifted a single eyebrow. "Why are you so anxious for her to mate a human?"

"Why are you so anxious for her to mate a demon?" the principal shot back. "I don't know you that well, my lord. But, something tells me there's more to it then her finding a demon mate. I apologize if it seems like I am prying. I'm just giving you other options."

The spider demon watched as the principal of the school turned and walked out.

A few moments later, Tomo met his friends in the parking lot. He sighed as he approached them.

"Are you nervous?" Rin asked, placing a hand on Tomo's shoulder.

The spider shook his head. "I just want to get this over with."

"Why didn't Asakura come with you to school today?" Edward asked. He had really hoped to see the teenager.

This was what had puzzled Tomo. He didn't understand what was wrong with her, but Asakura was upset about something. At breakfast, she hadn't said a word to him. When he had mentioned going to school, she said nothing. Since Tomo was a Lord now, he did not fear for her life. No one would be stupid enough to break into a Lord's house.

Tomo shrugged. "I don't know, honestly."

Rin thought of this and then posed a question, "Does she know why you aren't taking her as a mate?"

"Of course she does," Tomo scoffed. "I do not lead the girl with any false pretenses. She knows there could never be anything between us other then what we already have."

"That might be what has her upset," she said. "Human hearts work differently then demon ones. We get attached quite easily and are hard to break away. Tell her what you will, Tomo, but I fear she has already given you her heart. Anything you do has the ability to break it. It will take her a long time to accept that you could never be hers, but she will always be yours."

The spider demon did not like this concept and thought on it all the way home. He opened the door to smell the aroma of chicken. Putting his coat on the coat rack, he made his way to the kitchen. "What are you doing?" he asked, as he watched Asakura take a pot off the stove and pour the contents into another pot.

"Cooking," she commented, not looking at him. "I was hoping to have this done before you got home, but, oh well. At least you'll be able to taste it first."

She laddled some of the stuff out of the pot and showed it to him, indicating that he taste it. He walked up to her and opened his mouth. She poured the hot stuff into his mouth. It was delicious.

He chewed through the chicken, vegatables, and rice as he tasted the chicken broth. He nodded his approval as he swallowed it. "You are a wonderful cook," he complimented as he slipped his arms around her waist and kissed her.

She put the spoon back into the pot before wrapping her arms around his neck and returning his kiss. As his hands glided up and down her back, he noticed something. He pulled away and looked at her. "What are you wearing under this robe?"

She smiled mischievously. "The same thing I wore yesterday under this robe."

He returned her smile before he began trailing kisses down her neck. As he kissed her neck, she kissed his. She got to the curve of his neck, right where the neck met the shoulder, and did something he did not expect. She bit down as hard as she could.

Surprised, and a bit in pain, the spider demon jumped back and pushed her away. He clamped a hand to his neck. "What was that for?!" he demanded, pulling his hand away to check for blood. Thankfully, she didn't make him bleed, but it still hurt.

She looked hopelessly at the spot she had bit. How had Rin done it? Asakura knew that Rin had bit Shippo in order to claim him, but how? If demon skin was really that tough, how had Kagome and Rin break through? Then, she came to a realization. "You have to scratch yourself," she told him.

"What?! What are you talking about? Why did you just bite me?" he demanded. He grabbed her by the shoulders and forced her to look him in the eyes.

Another realization hit her as she screamed at him, "I know why spiders can't claim! Because they don't know how! If you wanted to, you could claim anyone you wanted. You just choose not to!"

"Is that what you just tried to do? Claim me?" he asked. He pushed her away. "You're right. I choose not to claim anyone. Why? Because I'm not like you. We could never have children."

"Yes, we could!" she argued, stamping her foot. "The only half spider demon to ever have existed was Naraku. But, demons and half demons are both born differently. A half demon is born the same way the mother's kind is born. If the mother is a demon, then the child is born as her species. But, if the mother is human, then the child is born the same as a human child would be."

He looked at her curiously and tilted his head. "How do you know this?" he asked her. Was it true? Was it really possible for him and her to have children?

"I talked to the Lady of the Western Lands today. I called her and asked her to come over because I wanted to know more about Naraku. As well as the art of claiming and bearing half demon children. You'd be amazed by how much Lady Kagome knows. She is a priestess, after all," she informed.

He stood there, stock still.

"Oh, and Tomo, one more thing," she said. She looked him directly in his eyes as she screamed, "I LOVE YOU! Do you hear that?! I love you! I want to make sure you know full and well how I feel about you before we go into that courtroom tomorrow. I love you and I want a life with you. There is no one else for me, Tomo. There will never be anyone else."

His eyes narrowed and he grabbed her arm. As he walked out of the house, he grabbed his and her coats with his other hand and gave her coat to her. He led her to the nearby park. "Put your coat on," he ordered her.

Not understanding what was going on, she did as she was told. Once her coat was on, he dragged her further through the park until he had found a lone teenage girl. The girl was sitting under a tree reading some book.

Hearing them approach, the girl looked up. "Oh, hi," she said. She looked at the couple and then up at the sky. "It's a beautiful day, isn't it?"

Asakura nodded her agreement, though she felt something was wrong. Something was amiss.

Tomo threw the girl a charming smile. "My girlfriend and I were walking through this park and we spotted you here. My girlfriend hates to see people alone and unprotected in such an open place like this, so she suggested we come and ask you to join us."

Asakura looked at Tomo. Why did he just lie like that? And what about that smile?

The girl laughed, "Are you sure you two don't wish to be alone yourselves? Besides, I really don't feel like walking right now."

Tomo took a seat next to the girl and smiled at her. "Then we shall join you. If you don't mind?"

The girl looked up at Asakura and then back down to Tomo. She told them it would be alright, but Asakura hadn't made a move. "My dear? Join us," Tomo told Asakura.

"To..."

He grabbed her arm and pulled her down before she could say his name. She didn't understand anything that was going on. Why had he brought her here and what did he want with this girl? Certainly he wasn't attracted to her?

Tomo and the girl continued to talk as Asakura watched. She said nothing, just watched him. If she didn't know better, she could've sworn he had used some of the same lines on her when they had first met.

"It's getting late," Asakura spoke up, the first time she had really said anything.

Tomo looked up at the darkening sky. "You're right, my dear. I think it's about time for us to return home," he claimed. He looked at the girl he had been talking to and took her hand. "It has been a pleasure," he whispered, barely kissing the back of her hand.

The girl blushed, "Thank..."

She never finished her sentence. Tomo glanced up at her with red eyes. He revealed to long, pointed fangs. Before she could scream, he grabbed the back of her neck and bit her under her chin.

"Tomo!" Asakura shouted in alarm. She stood up as she watched the spider demon. Before her eyes, two pairs of arms sprouted from his sides. His hair flew in all directions and he threw the girl away from him.

"She's paralized," he growled in a voice Asakura did not recognize.

"Tomo," she whispered, her eyes widened with terror. It was the first time she had ever seen anyone murdered. She knew what Tomo was going to do next. That didn't mean she was willing to witness it.

He turned on her. He wasn't in his true form. If anything, he was half transformed. It wouldn't take him much more to transform into his true self, but he knew she wasn't ready for that. His red eyes glared as he snarled, "Is this what you want, Asakura? Would you hunt for me? Pick and choose my victims? Are you willing to live your life with a murderer?"

So, that's why he had done it. She knew he also needed to feed, but she hadn't realized he had done this to turn her away. He was trying to show her why she shouldn't love him. She spoke carefully, annunciating each word, "Your attempts are in vain, my lord. If you wish me to find your victims, I shall. When you love someone, you love them completely. In all their forms. It matters not to me that you are a demon. I love you, Lord of the Mountain."

"Why?"

She offered him a soft smile and shrugged. "Why does the bird love the sky? Or the fish love the water? Yes, the sky is large, the ocean is large. And they have done some terrible things. But, the bird and the fish love them nonetheless. They are a part of the sky and ocean. It matters not what the sky and the ocean have done. And it never will. The bird will continue to fly and the fish will continue to swim."

Tomo calmed down. He walked up to her and touched her face with a single finger. He stayed in the form he was in, a mix between his true form and his humanoid form. He gazed into her dark eyes, then looked down at his own form. Due to his extra limbs, his shirt was ripped at the sides. "This was not how I planned to show myself to you."

Asakura searched for his eyes again. When she found them, she smiled. Then, she took a step back and looked at him. His fangs were too long and he wasn't able to close his mouth properly. Red, glowing eyes peered at her. His face was framed by his mane of black hair. One pair of arms came out from his shoulders, another pair from inbetween his ribs, and the third pair from midwaist. She smiled mischievously, "You know, those might actually be more fun in the bed... Sort of... add to the pleasure."

The look on Tomo's face was priceless. "I can always make my extra arms appear without need for my fangs, though my eyes glow red anytime I reveal any part of my true self."

He took her into his arms and hugged her close. Then, he smiled at her. Fangs and all. She laughed, "You look kinda funny with those fangs. They're too big for your mouth."

That's when he remembered the girl lying on the ground. "I have to eat my meal before I go back to my humanoid form. I'll meet you back home."

She shook her head. "I want to stay. I want to see."

The spider demon nodded, then turned to the dead girl. He picked her up and bit into her neck, drinking her fluid. Asakura watched the scene with mixed emotions. She accepted that the man she loved had to do this, but she decided she would never watch it anymore. It was too... disturbing.

After he finished, he stood up and carried the girl in his bottom two arms. "We have to get rid of the body," he informed Asakura.

The girl nodded and followed him. They walked deep into the trees of the forest that bordered the park. They came to a boulder and Tomo put the girl down. He looked at Asakura. "Don't follow me in here. It'll be too much for you," he said as he pushed the boulder away, revealing an opening. He lifted the girl again and carried her into the cave.

Asakura didn't know what was in there, but the smell was deplorable. She assumed that was where he deposited all the bodies of his victims. She was surprised the police hadn't found this place yet. He was right. She didn't want to go in there.

He came back moments later and replaced the boulder. Closing his eyes, he returned to his humanoid form and took her by the hand. "You were right, Asakura," he whispered. He pulled her closer to him and slid his hands around her waist. "I know nothing about the act of claiming. I never bothered to learn for I knew I could never go through with it. I always believed I would spend my life alone. I had resigned myself to that idea and had learned to accept it. Even if I could claim, I didn't think anyone would want someone like me."

She slid her hands up his chest and onto his shoulders. "I am not anyone. I am Higashi Asakura. And I want you. My question is, do you want me?"

His lips parted in a smile and he bent down to kiss her. He broke the kiss and pressed his forehead to hers, letting their noses touch. Their eyes met and he whispered, "I have wanted you for some time now, my love. Of all the people I have known, demons and humans alike, you are the only one to have ever made me feel the way I do."

"Then take me. Make me yours," she whispered against his lips.

"I don't know how," he reminded her, kissing her lips.

She pulled away and took his hand. "Follow me," she told him and led him back to the house.

The moment Tomo closed the door behind him, she took him into her arms and began to kiss him. They undressed each other and made their way to the bedroom. She giggled as she hopped onto the bed and sat on her knees. She still kissed him as she pressed her naked body against hers.

He began trailing his kisses down her neck and he felt her lean her head back. She moaned as he licked at the base of her neck. His hardness pressed between her legs, begging for entry.

She parted her legs and wrapped them around his waist. He waisted no time as he dived into her. He laid her on the bed as he began thrusting into her. His kissed the curve of her neck.

She moaned. "Tomo," she whispered breathlessly, "now is the time. You have to cut yourself on the left side of your neck. Where your shoulder meets you neck." She stopped talking for a moment to give out a ragged moan as he began thrusting deeper into her. "This... this will let me bite into you. Then... right at... the moment of our climaxes, we must bite each other in that spot and drink each others' blood."

He groaned his understanding. That was it? To bite one another and then drink their blood? He had always thought there was more to it then that. Some spell or incantation perhaps. His lifted his left and and willed a claw. With this claw, he bit deep into his skin where she had indicated. He felt her warm tongue glide over the spot and gasped in disbelief. For whatever reason, it felt different this time. Often she had licked him there, but now... it was ecstacy.

He dipped his head to her neck and licked her at the curve of her neck. She tasted delicious. He continued to drive into her. He wanted her more now than he had ever wanted someone.

He could feel her climax and knew his own was about to happen. Instinctively, he started to suckle on the area he was about to bite into. He checked his youkai to ensure that he wouldn't incidently fill her with his venom. When they reached their climaxes, he bit deeply into her and felt her teeth as she did the same to him. He could feel her begin to suck on him and he began sucking her blood. His body trembled in the ecstacy of it. She was beautiful to him.

As their climaxes wore off, they stopped sucking and pulled away from one another. He collapsed next to her and looked into her eyes. She smiled. "Your mouth is covered with blood," she joked.

"So is yours," he responded, kissing her. He tasted his own blood on her lips. His mind reeled. So, this was what it meant to claim someone. To make them your own.

She was his now.

She was his now.... She... was.... his..... He broke the kiss and gave her a curious look. She was his now. He had a mate... He had someone who would be there with him... For eternity. So suddenly, he wasn't alone anymore.

A sense of peace came over him and for the first time in his life, tear drops fell from his eyes. It was Asakura's turn to be confused. She had never known him to be emotional. "Tomo? What's wrong?" she asked, brushing back a lock of his hair.

He smiled and shook his head. "Nothing, my love," he whispered. He sat up and looked down at her. "I can't believe we just did that."

She followed him into a sitting position and smiled. "Are you surprised?"

"I think I'm in shock..." he admitted. He looked down at his hands. "All my life I have been alone, believing that I could never live like other demons or the humans. Then, you come into my life and prove me wrong. Not only do you show me that I really do need someone, but you show me that I can actually have someone. Someone can belong to me. And love me for who I am.... You don't know how much that means to me."

Asakura's smile faltered as she looked down at her own hands. "I believe I do," she whispered. "I never admitted it before, but all my life I have been alone as well. Sure I've had parents and even a brother, but... most of my life was spent in my room reading books or watching TV. My father is never home and all my mother does all day long is bitch about my father. My brother has his own set of friends and keeps to his room. At school, I always kept to myself, making friends with the teachers and school staff. It wasn't that I didn't get along with the other kids, it was that I didn't want to be around them. I felt I could never connect to anyone.

"When I met you, I knew I had found someone special. I was terrified when I found out you were a demon. A spider demon at that. I never really liked spiders, but I started reading up on them. Learning about them. And then you told me we could never have children. I was devastated. To think, I could never bear the child of the man I love. I had to know if it was true, so I called Lady Kagome and asked her to come over. I told her it was important. Because it was. For the first time in my life, I felt truly alone and I did not like it. Surely there had to be someone who could help me.

"And she did. She had found a glitch in your explanations... All that time, you had been talking about spider demons," she said, looking up at him. "But, I'm not a spider demon. I'm a human. A human's system is different than a spider's. So, Lady Kagome and I went through some books she had borrowed from her husband. It took us hours, but we finally found out the truth behind hanyous.

"I knew in that moment, that we could be together. It's going to be a difficult road, but we can take it," she said. She looked back up at him and found he had been staring at her. "I'm ready for this, Tomo. You are the man I love and I am willing to walk that road with you."

"I..." Tomo faltered. He kissed her tenderly on the lips and then whispered, "I love you, Asakura. You're right. Together, we can walk this road. Together, anything is possible."

He kissed her again. They made love until the break of day.
