She had felt so empty ever since she had lost her memory… If she had in the first place. How did she know this all wasn't some sort of big, fat, ironically not funny, joke. No, she thought. These feelings are all too real. The feelings of nostalgia washed over her constantly. Feelings of friends, of places, of Inu— She stopped to whisper the name out loud. “Inuyasha…” She certainly wasn't expecting an answer, until she heard a small, “Yes?” A sad looking Inuyasha made his way over and sat next to her.
Neither said anything at first. It wasn't awkward in the least, but she felt as if there was nothing to say. Kagomes' mind nagged her, trying to remember something, anything as she gazed into his soft, golden eyes. Why, she thought, why can't I remember you?

Too Late?
Chapter 5
Inuyasha saw her staring at him. She looked with such fierce determination, searching every feature, anything that might give her some clue. She had to remember him. She just had to.
She was concentrating so hard she didn't realize he was staring back. Suddenly aware of herself, she blushed and looked away. There was nothing in his features that rang a bell. Defeated, she hung her head; with her sight downwards, she suddenly realized Inuyasha was holding her hand. When did that happen?
Inuyasha, seeing her defeated stare gazed off towards the stars. “Kagome, so you really don't remember me…” he whispered, not bothering to look away from the beautiful night sky. Kagome raised her head up a bit, the night breeze tugging back on her hair, and slowly letting it fall. Strangely enough, Inuyashas' hair reacted the same way to the wind. Both staring somewhere off in the distance, their thoughts stuck on each other. Through the sides of her eyes, she could see his doggy ears droop, his eyes lowering themselves to his feet.
The crisp air was fresh, the same moon that had shown on her one day ago still held the same effect on her radiant skin. In one day she had changed so much, and yet she looked the same.
She held her legs loosely again, peering forward, the same way he had seen her yesterday. She turned slowly, sitting on her knees in Inuyashas' direction. “Inuyasha…” she started, her voice slightly pained. “I don't know why I can't, but I want to remember! I want to remember my friends. I want to remember everything I've done since I first came here. But above everything else, I want to remember you again …” she whispered. Inuyashas' eyes widened at the last words of her remark, then he closed them again. “Kagome…” they were silent for a second, staring into each others eyes. Kagome felt like somewhere inside Inuyasha was the key to her memories. The way he talked, the way he smiled when he said her name. She knew Inuyasha must be important to her.
The wind passed quietly before he started. “Kagome, if that's true then think real hard; isn't there anything you can remember?” Inuyasha looked completely tormented by the way she looked at him, so longingly, so lonely.
She closed her eyes. She focused. Hard. Really hard. She began squinting, every ounce of her will searching within the confines of her mind for anything that had happened. Something; A name, a place, a word. Anything. Inuyasha waited patiently, searching her face for any sign of success. Come on Kagome…Suddenly her eyes popped open.
“I….I think I got something.” She stated, looking nowhere in particular. Inuyasha grinned wildly, hoping it was something about him. Something about they're relationship. “Well? Come on Kagome! What is it you remembered?” he remarked, lifting his head with an excited expression. Kagome paused a moment. Why would she remember this? But it was something, and she had to give herself that much credit. “Well it's a word, but it doesn't make too much sense really…” she said shaking her head in protest.
Inuyasha thought. Was it Hanyou? Youkai? A word she had learned here and not in the present day? “Well then, let's hear it! What is this word of yours Kagome?”
Kagome sighed then looked Inuyasha right in the eye. “Inuyasha…” she said in a tone she knew must be used. He looked in terror as he realized which word she had chose to remember. “SIT!”
