"Bastard... Leave me alone. Just... just... get away from me. I.. I hate you." Kagome whispered, not totally aware of what she was saying; too blinded by the awful pain radiating from her heart.

`Do I really hate him? Can I ever truly despise him?'

Kagome looked at Inuyasha's face. The lively sparkle that usually occupied Inuyasha's golden eyes had left. He clutched his chest as if he had just been pierced, and his mouth twitched in pain. Concern began to creep into Kagome's mind, but when she realized this she quickly shoved it away.

`He deserves it. Why would he care what I think, anyways? He only cares for Kikyou.'

"Ka..Kagome, no. Please don't hate me." The young girl only turned away, her long raven hair falling forward to shield her face from the hanyou. A single glistening tear fell from her eye, but Inuyasha couldn't sense it because of all the tears already dried to her face.

"Don't hate me Kagome." Inuyasha whispered as he took a step forward. The miko cringed at the sound of his footsteps, but she did not move away. Inuyasha continued to walk towards her until his feet were directly in front of her. She looked up, and it was then that he saw the sparkling tear on her cheek. Kagome let out a soft sob, and desperately tried to wipe away her tears. She quickly reached up to brush them away, but a hand caught her before she could. Glaring up, she saw Inuyasha.

"Don't hate me." Was all he said before he yanked her up into his arms and pressed a bruising kiss to her lips. At first the young girl struggled, trying to get out of the strong hanyou's embrace, but soon Kagome gave in and just relaxed in Inuyasha's arms. He rubbed his hands up and down Kagome's back in what he hoped was a calming way before touching her cheek and running his fingers through her silky hair. When Inuyasha began to pull away, Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing his mouth back to hers. Inuyasha was so surprised he let out a small gasp, but it was quickly muffled by Kagome's tongue. Utter shock had befallen the hanyou, but he counted his blessings and kissed the young girl back. They finally broke apart, gasping for air.

"How could I ever hate you, Inuyasha?" Kagome muttered, staring into Inuyasha's amber eyes. The sparkle had returned, and she could suddenly sense the strong amount of joy radiating from his aura. Inuyasha flashed her a cocky grin.

"Of course you can't hate me! I'm just so likeable, ne?" Inuyasha said arrogantly. It was something he would regret. He backed away slightly as Kagome fumed.

"You asshole! How can you be so conceited!? Jeez... you leave me alone and don't pay any attention to me while you run off with your lovely Kikyou? Do you just expect me to forgive you!? Oh no! I will most defiantly not! Inuyasha, you're such a jerk!" Kagome yelled and stormed off out of the hut. Inuyasha stared wide-eyed after her, mouth hanging open slightly. Just before she walked out the door she spun around.

"Oh.. I almost forgot. SIT BOY!" She said before marching out into the morning light.

Inuyasha plummeted into the floor, gouging a deep dent in the ground.

"Ouch! Fucking bitch! What'd you do that for!?" The angry hanyou yelled. Kagome's head poked through the door. She looked completely outraged, and had a mild expression of shock from just being called such an awful name. However, the shock soon turned to pure anger as she yelled,

"What did you just call me!? Oh! I think that deserves a few more SITS! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT!" Inuyasha let out a yelp of pain each time she said the word. The hole he was in grew deeper and deeper as he was thrust harder and harder into the ground.

"Aauhh... Kagome..." Inuyasha moaned from his position deep in the earth. Kagome smiled triumphantly before letting out a very Inuyasha-ish "Keh!" and walking out into the early morning sunlight.

**

"No, Inuyasha! Stop being so selfish!"

"Bitch! C'mon..."

"For the last time, DON'T CALL ME A BITCH!"

Inuyasha and Kagome were arguing yet again as the others stared in amazement. It had been almost a week since the fateful night Kikyou had appeared, which Sango, Miroku, and Shippo still didn't know anything about. The group had left the next morning in search of more shards of the shikon no tama. They knew that Inuyasha and Kagome often fought and argued, but this was just ridiculous. For the passed week the two had been arguing nonstop, and Kagome always seemed to be mad at Inuyasha for something or other.

`Something's up. I know it, and I'm going to find out if it's the last thing I do!' Sango thought determinedly.

"I'll call you a bitch if I want to! You can't stop me!" Inuyasha yelled to the young girl, a cocky grin on his face.

"I can't stop you, eh?" Kagome smirked, a grin of her own playing across her lips. Inuyasha gulped, all cockiness turning to fear.

"Sit." Kagome said simply, sending the hanyou face first into the ground. Shippo cheered with joy. This whole fight had started when Inuyasha had tried to steal the kit's ramen, but Kagome had intervened sending the couple into an all out war. Shippo ran over to the motionless hanyou and picked up the ramen that had been previously stolen from him. They're eyes met for a brief second in which Inuyasha scowled and Shippo stuck out his tongue before skipping over to Kagome and resting in her lap. Kagome flashed her adopted son a loving smile before turning away to make some food for herself.

"Wow, am I ever full." Shippo said as he patted his stomach, having just finished gulping down the last of his ramen.

"That was fast." Kagome stated, turning from her own food to look at the kit. He was lying on his back, a satisfying smile on his mouth and his eyes were closed. Inuyasha was still lying on the ground in his small crater, but he was twitching and he had raised his head to stare evilly at Shippo.

"Keh!" Inuyasha said as he rose from the ground, earning him a cold glare from Kagome.

"Stupid bitch." Inuyasha muttered angrily before turning away and quickly leaping into the surrounding trees. He had said it so low that no one could hear it properly, but it had left them all wondering.

"Was it me, or did he just call me what I think he called me?" Kagome asked. Miroku gave her a questioning look before shrugging his shoulders. The others followed suit.

"Er! Why does he have to be so difficult all the time!?" Kagome wondered aloud as she turned back to her own meal and began to stir it again.

"Kagome, we've noticed you two have been fighting a lot lately." Miroku stated. He looked over at Sango and gave her a small smile and a wink.

"Uh, really? What do you mean..." Kagome said quickly, and by the tone of her voice, she was hiding something. The girl had never been any good at lying.

"Kagome-" Sango started but was quickly cut off by the young miko.

"Listen! There is nothing wrong. Everything is fine!" Kagome practically yelled at the others before turning back to her food and shoving it in her mouth, desperate for a reason not to talk anymore. The others got the hint and let out a sigh. Shippo hadn't paid any attention to the conversation going on between his friends; he was dozing off, contently filled with a delicious meal. Kagome blushed slightly but continued to eat and stare at her food, determined not to make eye contact with either Sango or Miroku.

`Who am I kidding? Everything is not fine. I still haven't really forgiven Inuyasha for going off with Kikyou. What am I going to do? How do I make things go back to the way they were before?' Kagome thought, a look of complete confusion crossing her face. The others noticed but remained quiet, not wanting to interrupt the girl from her thoughts. Sighing, Kagome stood up and seemed to fall out of her trance. She looked down at her half eaten meal and then to the forest.

"I'm going bathe in the spring we passed earlier." Kagome informed the others before grabbing her soaps and heading through the trees. The others watched her go before Sango cried out,

"Wait for me, Kagome!" Sango grabbed her things and ran after her friend. She smiled at her and was delighted when Kagome smiled back.

`Now is a great time to find out what's up with her and Inuyasha.' Sango thought before facing ahead and walking with Kagome towards the hot spring.

**

"Ahhh... the water is so nice, don't you think Sango?" Kagome said as she slipped into the hot spring. Sango quickly undid her kimono and stepped into the water, letting out a soft sigh and closing her eyes, enjoying the relaxing feeling of the gentle ripples lapping against her body as she descended into the water. Kagome giggled at the blissful expression on her friends face before grabbing the soap and beginning to lather her body. The two washed in silence, both enjoying the warm water and beautiful scenery.

The spring was set in a small valley surrounded by trees and large rocks and boulders that shielded it from the path that lay just 50 yards away. There were various flowers decorating the shore and emerging from the cracks in the boulders, mostly pink and white. The trees were covered in ivy and stood very tall, sheltering the spring from the wind. The water was hot and a faint steam rose from it and floated through the air, swirling and rising until fading away into the afternoon sunlight. Sango watched Kagome dunk under the water to rinse off her shampoo while she proceeded in rubbing conditioner onto her own chestnut brown hair. When Kagome's head rose back out of the water, Sango decided to pop the question.

"Kagome... is there anything wrong between you and Inuyasha?" She asked, a note of concern in her voice. Kagome turned to her friend with a frown and slight blush on her cheeks.

"I thought I said everything was fine-"

"I know you said that, but I also know that something's up. You two have been arguing constantly, more than normal, and you seem to be mad at him."

"Oh, so you noticed." Kagome said softly and glancing up at Sango. Sango gave her a little nod and a faint smile.

"Sango, it's terrible. One night last week, Kikyou came when I was with Inuyasha. She took him away, and he didn't even think twice about leaving me. She... she asked him if he still loved her, Sango. And... and he said yes." Kagome's bottom lip began to tremble and tears rose in her eyes. Whatever Sango had expected, it wasn't this. She was completely shocked. How could that hanyou be so insensitive?

"Kagome..." She whispered at the same time the young miko jumped into her arms and buried her head into her shoulder. Sango placed a hand on the back of Kagome's head and whispered comforting words to her friend as the girl continued to sob. Eventually Kagome pulled away and wiped her eyes, letting out a small sniffle every once in a while.

"It's okay Kagome... What did you do when you found out?" Sango asked in a gentle voice. Kagome let out a couple sniffs and hic-ups before responding.

"I told him I hated him... but I don't think I really meant it. And then... and then..."

"And then...?" Sango's curiosity got the better of her.

"And then... he kissed me." Kagome whispered before blushing crimson and glancing anywhere but at her friend. Sango's mouth was hanging open; she was gaping at her friend, completely at a loss for words. Finally she managed to stutter,

"Inuyasha.. kissed.. you..?" Kagome nodded before whispering to her friend even quieter,

"He's done it before..." At this Sango nearly fainted. She had seen Inuyasha and Kagome cuddling a few times before, but she had no idea just how intimate their relationship seemed. What on earth was Inuyasha doing going off with Kikyou when he had a relationship with Kagome? It made Sango mad, but she was glad that Inuyasha was trying to mend things with Kagome.

"Well that's a lot to take in..." Sango said, grinning widely at her embarrassed friend. Kagome gave Sango a weak smile and a nod.

"But I still haven't forgiven him. Do you think I should? I mean, I'm still really mad that he went and did that." Kagome asked. Sango thought for a moment before answering.

"No, you have a right to be mad at him. That was very wrong of him to do that to you... Whenever you're ready, Kagome, then you can forgive him and go back to how things were before."

Of course Sango was right. Kagome had every reason to be mad at the stupid, foolish hanyou. Kagome would just have to wait until she was ready to forgive him and move on.

"Thank you, Sango. You're the greatest." Kagome said gently, giving Sango a sincere smile and rising out of the water to dry off. Sango followed and they both dressed in silence before walking back to camp.

**

"Perfect... Kikyou has done well to break the hanyou and miko apart." An evil voice rang out through the darkness of a cold, damp room. The only light was coming from a circular mirror held by a small girl dressed all in white.

Naraku looked back to the mirror to see the shocked expression of the demon exterminator, Sango. Kagome sobbed into the exterminator's shoulder; she had just told her about how Inuyasha had left her for Kikyou. The two seemed to be bathing in a spring, from what Naraku could tell.

Kagome's voice erupted from the slivery mirror. "I told him I hated him...-"

"That's enough Kanna, that's all I needed to see." Naraku chimed as the mirror went blank, cutting off Kagome's sentence. He stood and walked to the window, opening the blinds and allowing light to shine through. Although the castle was shrouded in darkness and cloud, an eerie light still shone in the area and filtered into the room.

"Send for the undead priestess, Kikyou." Naraku dismissed Kanna with a wave of his had while he sat down on against the wall and placed the tips of his fingers together, eyes closed in concentration. These matters of the hanyou and reincarnated miko interested him greatly.

`Doubt is a tedious emotion. I may be able to work with this, and be able to obtain the miko's jewel shards. If only to devise a plan....' Naraku's thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of a certain woman.

"Ah yes, Kikyou."

"Naraku. You called for me." Kikyou stated in a harsh tone. That was when the idea struck him.

`Ah... a wonderful thing, betrayal is. The emotion's of treason.'

A/N: Oh! So sorry for not updating as often as you would like. My life seems to be very busy and time consuming, and when I do get a chance to myself, it is a rare thing that I feel like writing. Most of the time I feel like it when I'm busy and not able to, and when I actually get down to it, I'm not into it and what I write is shit. So, that's why it's taking me so long to get these chapters out.

Well, at least we all know that Kagome and Inuyasha don't hate each other, and their relationship will be running smoothly very shortly, promise! Sorry that Naraku has to come and make up plans to ruin Inuyasha and Kagome.... Oh well! Review please! It makes me happy and really does inspire me to write more! I am so happy with all my reviewers! Thank you so much and keep it up!
