Chapter 10 - Streams of Sunlight

Yay! Chapter 10! I'm gunna try to make this chapter good to celebrate for getting into the double-digit chapters! Haha! I know that a bunch of you would like Inuyasha and Kagome to make up and get along again, so I'll see what I can do... Awww...So sorry for the huge delay in updates. I have been really busy with school and everything, and I do have a hectic social life to deal with... Hopefully I'll be able to get the next chapter out quicker! I'll aim to have it done by next week. Alrite, I'm done my mindless babbling. Here is the next chapter!

Definitely some major fluff in this chapter and maybe, dare I say it, some slight citrus (if you don't like that kinda thing, don't read. You have been warned)??No not the big lemon yet... you'll all have to be patient. Don't worry, it'll come!

Kagome walked through the dense forest, feeling her way blindly as she stumbled along. It was late at night and the moon was hidden by the clouds so that no light penetrated onto the earth. If the unreasonable darkness wasn't enough, a cold, damp mist hung in the air, making it even more impossible to see the way through the clutter of trees. Practically marching, she made her way through Inuyasha no Mori, heading no where in particular, but determined that she was on the right path. She seemed to walk for hours but continued her strong pace in the direction that her heart was leading her. The night was silent with the exception of the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of wolf, or growl of something unknown. Kagome knew she should be scared, but somehow she felt safe; protected and loved by something or someone that she faintly knew but couldn't quite remember. She felt oddly calm, at peace with the world and every creature in it. Even the bad, Kagome knew that it could not harm her as long as she stayed the way she was that moment; protected, safe, and loved. As she realized this, the mist began to thin and the clouds began to disperse. The howling of the wolves, the growling, and the hooting of the nightly predators seemed to fade, as if she was moving further and further away from her.

Continuing her trek, she began to notice her surroundings becoming steadily lighter. Kagome looked expectantly up into the night sky, but it was still littered with clouds and showed no signs of daybreak. Turning her head back to the forest surrounding her, Kagome realized that the light was coming from the forest itself. The trees ahead of her seemed to be emitting a faint glow, and her eyes widened as she tried to take in all the light to find the actual source. Curiously, she turned around to look behind her. What she saw chilled her to the bone. The forest behind her was almost pitch black, and the eerie damp fog was swirling and floating between the tree trunks. Kagome swore that the instant she looked back, she began to faintly hear the terrifying sounds of growling and howling once again, but as soon as she saw the immense darkness, the fear it invoked in her caused her to abruptly turn back around towards the light. She began quickening her pace, but even as she did so, she felt that it was quite unnecessary. As soon as she had looked back at the lighted forest ahead, her heart soared and she felt totally safe and at peace once more. She continued to carefully tread over the forest ground, noticing the light grow stronger and stronger. It filled her with excitement and joy, as if she knew that something great and rewarding would be at the source of where the like was coming from. With a burst of energy, she began to run and with an enormous bright flash she emerged into a clearing. Kagome quickly covered her eyes with her arm, a brilliant smile playing across her lips. When she pulled back her arm and squinted ahead, her eyes rested on Goshinboku; practically humming with an amazingly pure force. There, pinned to the ancient tree, was a very familiar hanyou.

"Inuyasha?" Kagome's voice sounded out; the words racing through the purity and vibrating in the still air. Inuyasha's eyes slowly fluttered open and rested upon the young miko standing before him.

"Kagome... You've come to me." Kagome nodded her head and walked over to him, resting her hand on the strong arrow that pierced Inuyasha's chest.

"I'm so happy that you're here with me, Inuyasha. I don't know what I'd do without you. Were you the one who made me calm? The reason I feel so protected, safe, and loved?" Kagome asked, her eyes lighting up with hope and excitement. Inuyasha only nodded his head once and smiled. Kagome leaned forward, closed her eyes, and brushed her lips lightly against his giving him a quick chaste kiss.

"Don't ever leave me. I need you." She whispered against his mouth and leaned up against him while pulling the arrow from his chest. As the arrow began to dissolve, she opened her eyes and looked up to her hanyou. Inuyasha's expression was blank and emotionless, and as Kagome began to back up, he began to fade away with the arrow.

`No..' Kagome thought; completely horrified. As Inuyasha disappeared, she stared wide-eyed and scared. The warm feeling that had enveloped her body was fading, and fear and dismal began to creep back into her heart once again. The light and purity of the clearing and God Tree was being overcome by the darkness and shadow that descended from the sky and forest. Kagome shook in terror as she was surrounded and overwhelmed by darkness and despair. She could no longer see where she was, the only light was coming from the fog that swirled and rose up around her. Kagome began running blindly as the growls and howls inched closer and closer.

"Inuyasha!" She screamed, hoping against hope that he would come and save her; protect her from all danger and fear; make her feel loved and comforted. Suddenly something grabbed her out of the darkness and held her tightly.

"No! Inuyasha help me!" Kagome screamed as she began thrashing about, desperate to get away from the creature that was trying to capture her.

`Kagome..' Inuyasha's voice rang out through her mind as a tear fell from her tightly clenched eyes.

"Inuyasha please!?" Kagome screamed as loud as she could as she continued to struggle against whatever was holding her.

`Kagome. Kagome!' Inuyasha's voice rang out again, louder this time. The creature began to shake her, and still she could hear Inuyasha's soft comforting voice calling out her name.

"INUYASHA!"

And suddenly everything was bright once again. Inuyasha's face was inches from hers and a look of deep concern and worry was etched into his features. He was holding her shoulders lightly as she looked up at him, only now aware that she was lying on the ground. Morning sunlight was streaming through the branches of the surrounding trees and her companions, Miroku, Sango, and Shippo, all stood nearby with expressions of shock and worry on their faces.

"Kagome, are you okay?" Inuyasha asked the young girl lying below him. Kagome's lip began to tremble as she felt the traces of tears form in her eyes. It was at that very moment that Kagome realized that she could no longer be angry with Inuyasha. That she truly cared too much about him to push him out of her life. That with Inuyasha by her side, she was complete; protected, cared for, happy, calm, at peace with everyone and everything. It was at that very moment that Kagome realized that she had fallen for Inuyasha. Fallen in love.

"Oh Inuyasha!" She whimpered as she flung herself into the hanyou's chest. Inuyasha embraced her lightly and tucked her head under his chin, gently stroking her hair.

"I'm so sorry, Inuyasha. Please don't leave me ever again. I need you with me." Kagome said, clutching the back of Inuyasha's haori. The hanyou lifted the girl into his arms, nodded once to the others, and leapt off through the trees away from their camp.

"I never left you, Kagome. I've always been right here with you, right by your side." Inuyasha whispered into Kagome's ear as he flew through the air, the morning breeze and sunlight playing across his smiling face.

"Ahh... my fair Kikyou, thank you for coming on such short notice..." Naraku stated, trying to act nicely towards the miko who had captured Onigumo's bitter shriveled heart.

"Naraku, do not attempt to sweet-talk me. Just answer me this; why is it you have called for me?" Kikyou bit back.

"You never had been very easy to sway, Kikyou. Fine, I shall explain." Naraku said giving the girl a small smile.

"I wish a favor of you... I know that you have pitted Inuyasha and your reincarnation, Kagome, against each other-"

"So it worked..." Kikyou cut in, ignoring Naraku and becoming lost in her own thoughts.

"Yes, their trust for each other has most definitely been rattled and they are both uneasy about their feelings towards each other. The seeds of doubt have been planted, and all they need now is a little help from us for them to sprout and grow rapidly into hatred, grief, and despair. At that time, the hanyou's heart and soul of which you so deeply desire will be free for the taking. And of course, you would be right there to claim him..."

"What exactly did you have in mind?" Kikyou questioned. Naraku's lips turned upwards into an evil grin.

"Betrayal... Sound familiar, my dear priestess?"

"You intend to deceive them like you deceived both Inuyasha and I? To pit them against each other, have them despise one another's very being? Naraku... how can you expect me to allow you to do this yet again?" Kikyou wondered, a hint of amusement in her cold voice.

"You will not only allow me to do it. You will help me. You believe Inuyasha to be rightfully yours, do you not? What better way to win him back than by doing the same thing that made you lose him over 50 years ago?" Naraku replied.

Kikyou took a minute to think everything over. Inuyasha was hers, and he promised to be with her always; forever love her. It was for the best if her reincarnate was out of the way so that he wouldn't be torn between the two. Inuyasha's heart would be hers and would always remain in her possession. They're souls could finally be together and remain that way forever in the depths of hell.

"I agree, Naraku. What is it you wish me to do?" Kikyou had made up her mind.

"Inuyasha? Where are we going..?" Kagome asked, wrapping her arms around him tightly as he leaped once again though the morning mist. Inuyasha didn't reply. They continued on for a short while until they came across a small meadow. Inuyasha's pace slowed and he began walking towards the middle of the clearing, Kagome still in his arms held bridal style. Kagome's grip on Inuyasha lessened somewhat and she brought her face away from his shoulder so that she could glance around.

Long green grass covered the ground littered with yellow and white flowers. The meadow was circular; thick forest surrounded the area and shielded the couple from the outside world. The air smelled so fresh and clean in the early hours of the morning, and a slightly floral scent was wafting through the clearing. In the middle of the meadow was a tall magnolia tree that provided a small amount of shade from the sun's rays. It was simple yet beautiful, Kagome thought.

Inuyasha made his way to the center of the meadow and plopped down on the ground underneath the tree, leaning back and resting his head on the cool trunk. Kagome sat in his lap, his arms still wrapped around her protectively. The hanyou let out a loud sigh and closed his eyes.

"Inuyasha!? What exactly are we doing here?" Kagome asked, quite annoyed that Inuyasha had just picked her up and run off to the middle of nowhere without uttering a single word. Again, Inuyasha remained quiet but grinned widely at her.

"Inuyasha! Talk to me! Cat got your tongue?" Kagome practically yelled at the hanyou, gripping a chunk of his silver hair and jerking his head slightly. At Kagome's words, Inuyasha's face took on a look of disgust and utter bewilderment.

"What the fuck? A cat having my tongue!? Do you see a cat anywhere, Kagome? And I'm a fucking dog demon, so no cat would ever get my tongue!" Inuyasha replied aggressively.

"Whoa! Settle down. It's just a figure of speech. I didn't mean it literally... But hey! At least you talked to me! So what's this all about, Inuyasha?"

Inuyasha appeared to be deep in thought for a moment, going over in his head about Kagome's damn cat remark. When the hanyou couldn't quite figure it out, he simply dismissed the thought, closed his eyes, and began to smile once again.

"Oh Gods... not the silent act again..." Kagome muttered seeing the look on Inuyasha's face once again. The hanyou's smile only grew with the girls comment. Kagome was completely confused now. Inuyasha cracked an eye open as Kagome began to shift in his lap, inching away from him slightly.

"Sit down and relax bitch!" Inuyasha said playfully as he grabbed Kagome's wrist and pulled her back against him, smiling when she began to blush. The two sat there just enjoying the moment; Kagome leaning back onto Inuyasha's strong warm chest as Inuyasha sat against the tree and wrapped his arms around the miko sitting in his lap. It was beautiful. Both of them were completely at ease with each other; at peace and content as they both sat against one another.

`This is wonderful... I feel so happy here in Inuyasha's arms. But what exactly is going on? He must have lost his mind or something to take me here alone to this gorgeous meadow. And he's being almost... affectionate. Oh well, just enjoy it.' Kagome thought, still bewildered at the whole situation.

"Kagome?" Inuyasha said after a short while, his voice lazy and gentle.

"Hn?" Kagome muttered quietly, her eyes closed and expression worry-free and peaceful.

"Thank you." Inuyasha replied, a hint of embarrassment in his voice. Kagome leaned away from the hanyou just enough so that she could partially turn her body to look at him. His golden orbs were full of sincerity, worry, and a hint of pain. Kagome matched him with a questioning look.

"For what, Inuyasha?" Kagome curiously asked.

"For forgiving me for all the stupid, idiotic things I do. For staying with me. For caring about me. For everything. For just being Kagome." Inuyasha said, blushing slightly and darting his eyes away from the miko sitting in his lap. Kagome's lip began to quiver and her eyes sparkled with unshed tears.

`What the hell? She's crying!?!?!' Inuyasha thought in amazement as he turned back to her.

"Kagome? What-" Inuyasha was quickly silenced as Kagome crashed down on his lips for a searing kiss. The kiss was hard, desperate, gentle, loving, and extremely sexy all at the same time. They're mouths moved against each other before Inuyasha's tongue began to prod Kagome's lips for entrance to her sweet mouth. Willingly, the girl granted him access and soon they're tongues were in an all out battle for dominance. A shudder ran down the hanyou's spine as Kagome ran her tongue lightly across Inuyasha's fangs before nibbling on his bottom lip. Inuyasha let out a soft growl as he plunged his tongue deep into her mouth, explore and tasting every last corner and then sucking gently on her tongue. Kagome let out a soft moan that was soon followed by a gasp as Inuyasha grabbed her and pulled her down to lie on the ground beneath him. He held her there, pinning her with his hips as he devoured her mouth, hands beginning to wander the girl's body. Kagome reached up and linked her arms around Inuyasha's neck, bringing him harder down onto her mouth and body. She could feel her heart beating so fast as she broke away. Inuyasha began to trail kisses from her mouth to her ear before softly sucking on the lobe.

`His ears...' Kagome thought as she let out a soft moan caused by the feel of Inuyasha's mouth now sucking, kissing, and biting her neck. She shakily reached up a hand and grasped one fuzzy tip of the hanyou's ears. He gasped at the strong amount of pleasure Kagome was causing him by simply rubbing his ears. His thoughts were scattered and his brain an uncomprehending mess; he didn't even realize that Kagome had rolled him over and was now straddling his waist. She brought her mouth down for another long, pleasurable kiss before trailing her mouth down his neck and sucking gently. She began to move down to his chest before stopping at the edge of his clothing, whining slightly as she tugged desperately at the red material. Inuyasha let out a grunt and he raised himself slightly off the ground, only then realizing that he had now somehow ended up on the bottom, and stripping himself of all upper clothing. Kagome let out a sigh showing her approval before bringing her lips back to his, running her fingers across his muscular, toned arms and then down his amazingly sculpted chest.

`Wait... she's the one dominating. Not for long...' Inuyasha thought as he smiled against Kagome's mouth, quickly rolling over so that the girl was once again pinned beneath his body. Kagome's surprised gasp was muffled by Inuyasha's tongue darting deep into her mouth. Inuyasha slowly ran his hands down the miko's sides to her thighs before beginning to come back up, this time underneath her shirt. He rubbed his hands across Kagome's smooth stomach before going up higher to play with her breasts. However, he pulled away slightly and stared accusingly at Kagome, letting out a low growl.

"What?" Kagome asked innocently.

"What the fuck is this thing covering your.. your.. covering you!?" Inuyasha practically yelled, his voice dripping in annoyance and slight embarrassment.

"You mean my bra?"

"If that's what this frilly thing is, than yeah!" Inuyasha answered irritably, rolling his eyes slightly. Kagome giggled and blushed slightly.

"There's a hook at the back-" But the rest of her sentence was cut off however by Inuyasha's mouth crashing down onto her own. His hands quickly began their movements once more as he effortlessly raised her off the ground and reached behind her to unhook the clasp of her bra. Mumbling darkly, he scratched at it and fiddled with it until it popped open. When it did, a devilish grin appeared on his face as he quickly yanked Kagome's shirt up and over her head. Kagome let out a yelp as her shirt was tugged off and thrown to the side to rest with Inuyasha's clothing in the soft green grass. Inuyasha stared down at her, the bra still cover most of her chest but no longer restraining her breasts. Inuyasha was too caught up in the moment to second guess his actions as he slowly reached down to pull the silk black bra away. Kagome closed her eyes and blushed every shade of red as she felt Inuyasha slowly remove the last bit of clothing that would hide her from Inuyasha's gorgeous amber eyes.

"Kagome, look at me." Inuyasha demanded once he had removed her bra. Kagome slowly opened one eye to stare at the hanyou. His cheeks were slightly stained pink, but other than that, he looked completely ecstatic.

"You're beautiful." He whispered before placing a soft, simple kiss to her lips. All uncertainty and fear was washed away as Inuyasha massaged her mouth with his tongue. He grasped one of Kagome's breasts and began to massage it as well; clenching lightly and molding it with his clawed hand. He then shuffled down her body, kissing her soft skin as he went, until he was propped up on his elbows above the young girl's chest. He watched Kagome's face as he lazily traced one of her nipples with his claw; watching how she struggled against the moan that tried to escape her lips and fought to keep her eyes open. When she arched up against him, he brought his mouth down to taste the centre of one of her breasts. He suckled and kissed the sensitive nub before enveloping it in his hot mouth and rolling the tip with his tongue, then lightly tugging at it with his teeth. A hand came up to perform the same attention to her other mound before switching and performing the same action. Kagome was amazed at how good this all felt as she attempted to stifle another moan but failed miserably. Her hands began to wander as she reached lower and lower on the hanyou above her. She traced her nails along his flawless skin before coming to the material of his pants. Feeling brave, she continued to reach down and lightly cupped his hardened manhood. Inuyasha let out a yelp at the sudden pleasurable contact and his face dashed up to stare quizzically at Kagome. Kagome's blush deepened as she gazed shyly back at the hanyou.

"Ahhh... Kagome. Two can play at that game..." Inuyasha managed to moan out as he trailed his hands up and down her thighs before slowly climbing up her skirt.

`Thank God she wears these insanely short clothes...' Inuyasha thought, letting out an approving moan as his hand neared the juncture between her legs. Before he even reached it he could feel the strong amount heat she was emitting. Her panties were already soaked through when he brushed his hand against them before using one of his claws and quickly slicing though the thin material. Kagome gasped when she felt Inuyasha's rough hands rub against places that no other man had ever touched her. He slowly parted her folds before tracing a finger across the outside of her opening. Kagome whined at the pure torture the hanyou was causing her, gazing pleadingly at him while he returned her with a cocky grin. The girl squirmed beneath him, silently begging him to somehow release the throbbing desire and want coursing though her body. Soon the hanyou's instincts overpowered him. Just how long could he keep the goddess beneath him waiting? Not any longer. He quickly inserted a finger into her dripping wet passage as she let out a loud moan. The intense scent of Kagome's arousal was making Inuyasha's head swim and he could hardly concentrate as he slowly moved his finger in and out of her.

"In.. Inuya... yasha.... what are you doing to me?" Kagome managed to stutter, amazed at the feelings Inuyasha was invoking, her voice oddly high-pitched and raspy. Inuyasha let out another small moan as his erection throbbed painfully.

"Yeah!? What the FUCK are you doing to her, asshole!?" A loud arrogant voice broke though the pants and moans of the miko and hanyou lying in the meadow in the shade of a magnolia, while streams of sunlight heated the ground encircling them.
