Chapter 4 A New Found Love

The next morning, Kagome woke up a little later than expected. She was lying on a small pile of hay that she didn’t remember being there the night before. She was also covered by a red robe that she remembered from Inuyasha. ‘So it really wasn’t a dream.’ She smiled at the thought of him. “But I wonder where he went?” She asked as she stretched her arms up as far as she could. Kagome stood and walked to the mouth of the cave. She lifted her hand to shield her eyes as the sun shone bright this wonderful morning. Everything looked so beautiful since the rain had refreshed the entire forest with the water of its life the night before. Birds were out chirping to their hearts content, deer feeding on the freshly watered grass, and the babbling of a spring nearby. Everything was so peaceful. She only wished her savior and protector was there to see this sight with her.

“Hey you’re up.” Kagome jumped at the surprise of hearing company. “I hoped I would be back before you woke up.” Inuyasha told her sounding happy to see her.

“Oh! Sorry. I didn’t mean to disappoint you.” Kagome said bowing her head, sincerely sorry thing didn’t go as he had planned.

“No, it’s fine! I went to get you something for breakfast.” He said as he blushed. He was scared she didn’t want to be around him any more than she already had. He had been rejected so much already in his life, he hoped she really was different. He held out a hand with a few fish he had caught for her.

Kagome was a little surprised he had been so thoughtful. They had just met the night before anyways. Then she really looked at him and realized he was soaking wet from where he had bathed and fished. He was so beautiful in the morning sunlight, his hair glistened with the water droplets in the light and his white shirt he wore under his red robe stuck to his skin slightly to accentuate his muscles. Kagome’s arousal sparked. ‘I hoped that he couldn’t smell it, with him being half dog demon.’

“Thank you! Thank you very much!” She thanked him blushing slightly.

Inuyasha just watched her face as he offered the fish to her. As she stared at him, he did smell her arousal. He wondered what she was aroused about but he knew it had something to do with him. When she thanked him, Inuyasha was pleased with himself. “I’ll just start the fire again so you can cook it before you eat it.” He told her. When the fire lit, Inuyasha put the fish on a stick to cook it.

Inuyasha was still curious about why she was out here and where she was going. “So where are you heading? I figured you have somewhere to be.” He asked trying not to sound nosy as he handed her the now cooked fish. She nibbled it for a bit before she replied.

“Well, I don’t really have anywhere specific to go. I just go from town to town. If I sense a demonic aura around a town, I go there to protect that town.” She said lowering her head to hide her eyes from Inuyasha. ‘So much for him not knowing about you being a miko. Why did you just blurt it out to him? Dumb-ass.’ She thought to herself.

“I already knew you were a miko, Kagome.” Inuyasha told her. Smelling that she was afraid. “You don’t have to be afraid.”

Kagome was shocked that, one, he knew she was a miko, and two, that he knew she was afraid. She looked up into his molten golden eyes as tears began to form. Inuyasha saw this and was confused. ‘What did I do to hurt her feelings?’

“Kagome, are you okay? Did I do something to upset you? Please don’t cry.” Inuyasha hated it when women cried. Especially if it was his fault. Kagome couldn’t speak. She wasn’t crying from hurt but happiness. She didn’t want Inuyasha to get the wrong idea. All Kagome could do was lean forward arms stretched out and hugged the hanyou as tight as she could. She never wanted to let him go.

Inuyasha was confused and extremely happy at this sudden burst of affection. He didn’t care why she hugged him, he just cared that she did. This meant she wasn’t scared of him. He immediately hugged her back. Holding her tight to him but not hard enough to hurt her. He now knew that he was in love with this girl, but he didn’t want to put himself into the danger of being rejected again, so he would hide it from her as best as he could.

She cried into his chest and the embrace lasted for a good half hour or so, until she calmed down. Inuyasha was happy when she stopped crying, but he didn’t want to let her go. “I’m sorry.” Kagome apologized while whipping her eyes.

“It’s okay. Why did you cry if you weren’t hurt?” Inuyasha asked wondering what her answer would be.

“Uhh… Well… I-I felt loved.” She said, blushing so hard she could feel the heat on her face. She tried to hide it from his view.

Inuyasha was shocked. ‘She felt loved from what I said?’ He thought. ‘Does she love me too? No, she couldn’t love a hanyou. No one has and no one will. But what is that in her eyes? I see something in them. It reminds me of a look my mom gave me when she was overwhelmed by love for me. Can it really be true?’ This battle went on for a few minutes.

When Kagome got only stares from Inuyasha, she felt a little hurt and she wanted just to hide. “I’m sorry, I must be going. Sorry to have bothered you.” She said this as she stood up and began to take the robe of the fire rat off to hand it back to him. Inuyasha never wanted to hurt her and he definitely didn’t want her to leave him.

As she began to take off the robe, she felt the cold breeze of morning air. She wanted just to put it back on but she was too hurt to just give in. Inuyasha stopped her from taking the robe off of her sleeve with his strong, clawed hand placed carefully over her small petite one. Kagome blushed. ‘Why is he stopping me?’ She thought. ‘Does he really care for me?’ Her thoughts were cut off when she heard Inuyasha speak.

“Hey.” He whispered. “Please don’t go.”

She looked into his molten golden eyes as her arousal sparked again, for the second time that day. ‘Geeze, I bet he can really smell it now… Crap! Why does he have to be so damn hot?!’ she thought to herself. His eyes melted her with their warm golden color. She gazed into them for a few minutes before she looked away. ‘What is he doing to me? I’ve never felt like this for any one!’ She thought.

When Kagome looked into Inuyasha’s eyes, she chocolate brown eyes took hold of his heart. She could make this half demon do anything she wanted him to do. This woman had Inuyasha wrapped around her little, petite finger.
“Inu-Inuyasha?” Kagome stuttered.

Inuyasha blinked a few times to clear his head. “Yeah? What is it?” He asked.

Kagome just lowered her head. “Oh, nothing…” She lied. How long could she hide her feelings from him? Whenever she heard his voice, or saw his face, her heart flipped in her chest. ‘Why do I feel so strongly for him? We just met, but it feels like we’ve been together for years.’ She thought to herself.

She snapped out of her thoughts when she sensed a very strong powerful demonic aura. It was a very strong demon, and it was approaching fast. She pulled away from Inuyasha’s hand as rushed to her bow and arrows. She walked over to the mouth of the cave and took aim.

Inuyasha was in shock. When she pulled away from him, he felt hurt and nervous. ‘What is she getting her bow for?’ He thought. Then his mind flickered at a thought that she was going to use the arrows on him. He had been betrayed so many times before he wouldn’t be surprised. But he realized she was walking past him. ‘If not me, then who?’ He questioned.

Kagome felt the demon’s aura coming towards them, fast. She stretched the bow string back a little farther preparing to shoot. She was about to fire, when she was stopped by a voice, “Kagome, wait.” Inuyasha told her. “I know who that is. Get behind me.”

Kagome was confused. Why did she have to get behind him? Who was this demon? And how did Inuyasha know them? Her thoughts raced as she lowered her weapon and ran behind Inuyasha, peeking out from behind his broad shoulders. The tall man landed just outside of the cave with a un-amused look in his eyes.

“What are you doing here.” Inuyasha stated more than asked.
