InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Under the Blood Red Sun ❯ Father InuYasha ( Chapter 2 )
Chapter 2: Father InuYasha
“Okay listen closely I will give all my money and my kingdom if you will switch places with me.” Princess Kagome told her newest lady-in-waiting.
“Why would someone as high as you wish to change places with a lowly vassal as I?” her mirror image asked.
“Because Kikyo, I am tired of being a princess at my lord’s beck and call. My father made an arrange marriage for me to Lord Naraku. And I want to marry somebody of my own will.” Kagome said as she dug through her wardrobe.
“The Lord Naraku?” Kikyo asked her eyes wide.
“Yes him. All he wants is my body not my mind. If he wanted an easily controlled princess he could have gone elsewhere.” Kagome said as she pulled a dress from the wardrobe.
“I think he is very handsome.” Kikyo said in a calm voice.
“Here put this on. I want to leave tonight.” Kagome threw the elegant dress at her servant. “Take those clothes off so I can wear them. I just allowed all the servants to leave. I didn’t want to fire them, but Lord Naraku wanted me to have no servants, so getting to know my old ones will be no problem. My father told me to act more like a princess than a prince so if you act different than I do it’s okay.” Kikyo had taken off her old rags and handed them to her princess. “Thank you.” Kagome said as she put the rags on. Kikyo had put the dress fully on when a rather abrupt knock came at the door.
“Yes?” Kikyo asked while Kagome climbed out of her window.
“Your lord father wishes to see you.” the servant told her through the locked door.
“I shall come.” Kikyo said smiling, let that foolish princess be a pauper I will rule this kingdom, she thought to herself as she opened the door. Standing in front of her was not a servant but a man in a long silver cloak, his hood hiding his features. His arm flashed out and covered her mouth. Pulling a silver dagger from his cloak he slit her throat.
***Deep within the City, earlier that day***
“Miroku what’s the Inn’s name again?” an old man asked in a youthful voice.
“Blue Miko. It should be around here somewhere.” a young man dressed in farmers garb answered him from the back of the produce wagon.
“Okay, remember we are here to sell our goods at the Farmer’s Market later today. Sango, Miroku I want you two to be at the booth. I will go through with the job,” the aging man said as he turned his amber eyes towards the said people.
“InuYasha the Inn is right ahead of you.” Sango said clad in a faded dress.
“Okay the plan, first we check in under our assumed identities then we explore the city for the quickest route out in case of trouble.” InuYasha said looking ahead. His silver hair was dulled with ashes and his skin was covered in layers of dust, making his smooth skin seem older and wrinkled filled.
“You expect trouble?” Miroku asked the hanyou as he helped Sango off the wagon.
“Always expect trouble.” Sango said as she quickly stood away from the monk turned soldier.
“I am not familiar with the castle here so I have to expect trouble. If there is any then I want you two to stay while I run off.” InuYasha said rubbing his watering eyes, “Damn ash.” he muttered as the three farmers in disguise strode into the shabby Inn. InuYasha stooped over and hobbled alongside Miroku who had his arm wrapped around Sango’s waist.
“Hello sir, my father, my wife and myself would like to request a room.” Miroku said smiling at the man at the desk. The man was short and balding. His white hair wasn’t neatly combed or his clothes clean, in fact he looked like an escaped prisoner. The man looked over them with his beady black eyes and his gaze seemed to linger on Sango the longest.
“We only have 1 room open, you three would have to share a bed. I could get one of the bar maids to bring up an extra blanket. Here is the key and you are expected to pay the day you leave,” the man said in a raspy voice as he handed an oily key to Miroku who grimaced as he took it. “Shippo! Come show our guests their room.” around the corner of the desk a young fox demon came and tugged Sango dress.
“Follow me please,” he asked trembling with fear from the proprietor. InuYasha looked from the kit to the man and saw a look of exteme hatred radiating from the old man. InuYasha sniffed and smelt fear from both the kit and the man, he also smelt an under lying scent of blood.
“Okay.” Sango said as she followed the kit. Miroku looked at InuYasha’s blank face and pulled lightly on his arm.
“Come father you must be tired.” Miroku said as InuYasha leaned on Miroku’s arm.
“Thank you sir for the room.” InuYasha added in a raspy voice. Reaching the stairs InuYasha confronted the kit and threw his charade out the window. “Alright kit spill it, did he beat you or something?”
Shippo looked at InuYasha with sad green eyes and nodded. “My parents both died in a freak thunderstorm, they worked for Master Kishi. After they died he took me in so I could have a life, he told me then. Now he treats me like a slave. Demons are not wanted in this land. Why would you care, filthy hanyou.” he spat.
“Look here kit, I may have your ticket to freedom!” InuYasha growled at him. Miroku tapped him on the shoulder. “What!”
“You might want to lower the growls a bit, we want to lay low, remember.” Miroku said as he looked at Sango.
“Okay Shippo, that’s your name right, well I need some help for my dear father in law, if I talk to your master down there, I would like you to help use unload our cart at the market later today, okay? After that we’ll smuggle you out of the city and take you to the Western Lands okay?” Sango said crouching, so she could look directly at the kit. Shippo nodded then winced as if the motion hurt.
“He beats you doesn’t he.” Miroku asked with a warning glance at InuYasha. The kit nodded again.
“okay go back downstairs and act like nothing happened.” Sango said as Miroku opened the door to the room. InuYasha sneezed as a musty odor came from the room.
“Shit! What died in here?” InuYasha growled as he walked into the room.
The fox quickly walked back the way he came and Miroku shut the door when all were in the room.
“Miroku, you and Sango scout the area. I will do my job.” InuYasha said as he pulled the farmers clothes off to reveal the silver cloak of his office. Fingering a silver dagger he stuck it in his belt beneath the cloak and took a bottle of some liquid out. Dumping it on his hands he smeared it all over his clothes. The liquid was to mask his scent, in case they used demon trackers. Flipping the hood on InuYasha opened the window and leapt out onto the next roof.
“Do you think he’ll kill her?” Sango asked Miroku as they headed for the door to the room.
“No doubt Sango dear.” Miroku said as he looped his arm around her waist. She blushed as the stepped into the dank hallway.
