InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Under the Blood Red Sun ❯ Legend tells ( Chapter 9 )
Inuyashasbiggestfan let me explain, Kagome was a princess who lived a sheltered life. She didn’t know she was a miko or about the jewel. So therefore about her being a miko will be found out later. And the jewel I plan on making it a thing of legends.
Chapter 9: Legend tells
InuYasha sped through the forest searching for the cause of the scream, “Zurni, where are you? First it’s Kirara that’s protecting the forest now you’re missing.” the long folds of his cloak whipped in the wind as he paused to sniff out the direction Kagome had gone. His eyes narrowed as he realized it was her that screamed. “She gets into more problems than the water in the river.” InuYasha threw the cloak off; it would do no good because of the torn hood.
“The Jewel, give me the jewel now!” a hard voice came from the large tree in the center of the clearing. Then the tree moved and InuYasha saw it was the monstrous centipede known as Mistress Centipede. ‘What does she mean jewel? I know for a fact that girl has no jewel.’ InuYasha thought as he looked around for the beast’s head. A flash of pale flesh caught his attention and InuYasha growled. He rushed the creature his claws held in front. The monster seemed more interested in the girl. Growling InuYasha leapt at the demon and scratched it with his claws. “You!” the centipede hissed as it whipped its head around to face him.
“Yes me! Now drop the girl, before I get really mad!” InuYasha yelled at her as he flexed his claws.
“Mine! I shall eat her to get the Jewel!” Mistress Centipede said as she dove her head down towards Kagome.
“No!” InuYasha yelled as the Yokai bit down on Kagome’s side. She lifted the semiconscious girl above her and tossed her up, causing her side to bleed heavily. InuYasha ran to grab the girl before she fell. Holding the girl close to him InuYasha felt his claws becoming soaked with blood. The moon previously hidden by clouds resurfaced and it’s pale light shown off a round sphere.
“You can keep the girl, I’ll just have the jewel.” the demon bent down and picked the jewel up with her over long tongue. Swallowing it the creature began to change and become more lethal.
“No, for hurting somebody under my care, I will kill you!” InuYasha shouted as he set Kagome on the ground. Cracking his neck and flexing his claws InuYasha looked at the centipede with amusement. “You want the jewel, then you’ll have to fight me to keep it! You’ll never leave the forest alive!” InuYasha rushed the creature that easily avoided his rush. The centipede went around him and headed straight for Kagome. InuYasha quickly changed direction as the centipede lifted the now screaming girl above it. InuYasha paused as a pink glow formed around the girl’s body. Shocked or burned, InuYasha thought from the smell of burning flesh the centipede dropped the girl. InuYasha quickly rushed the monster and sliced it to pieces with his claws. Panting heavily InuYasha looked at Kagome and asked, “You’re a miko?” the girl looked at him and to her hands and shrugged. Her eyes widened as she pointed behind him. “What?” he asked before something heavy slammed into his back. The monster was alive, but how? InuYasha sliced it with his claws and watched as it reformed. “Damn!” he shouted as he rushed it again.
“Girl did the jewel and wave of power come from you?” an ancient seeming voice asked as a group of horsemen came into the clearing. Leading them InuYasha saw out of the corner of his eye was Mistress Kaede, head of the Miko shrine.
“Yes I guess so.” Kagome told her holding her side.
“InuYasha when you kill it again allow me to look for this object of power.” Kaede said as she dismounted from her horse. InuYasha sliced the bug again and watched as the head miko searched the remains for the jewel.
“Why is the flesh glowing right here?” Kagome asked pointing to a segment of bug by her.
“That child is the jewel, quickly grab it before she can reform.” Kaede said straightening from her spot. Kagome gave her a look of pure disgust as she grabbed the jewel from the bug’s slimy insides.
“Eww, I am never going to touch a bug again.” Kagome said as she wiped the jewel on her cloak.
“Kagome, have you ever heard of the legend of the Jewel?” InuYasha asked.
“What legend?” Kagome asked as she doubled over from the pain in her side. “Oh.” she said before she passed out.
“InuYasha pick her up and take her to her hut. Yes I know where the hut is and why you decided to stick her in it.” Kaede said to him, “I want two of you to quickly go to my hut and grab my bag of supplies.” two horsemen left. InuYasha picked up Kagome and took her to the hut using his demonic speed. He reached the hut and kicked the door open cursing when it fell off its hinges. He lays the body of the girl on the bed and sits down at the edge.
“Oh, my head hurts.” Kagome asked as she sat up.
“Lay down and I’ll tell you the legend of the jewel.” InuYasha told her as she lay back down.
“10,000 years ago a powerful Miko was attacked by a demon, a demon that wanted her to be his mate. She had refused him and in doing so sealed her fate. For it was destiny that she was to mate this demon of power. She had fought the demon using her pure strength and he his evil power. Both weakened the other and caused serious injury. For five days they fought, and on the fifth day Midoriko, that was the Miko’s name, sacrificed her life and created the jewel, fusing her intended soul to her own and causing a jewel to form. The jewel had hovered in the air over the soulless bodies of the reversed lovers and briefly glowed before disappearing to oblivion.” InuYasha said watching the girls face. She seemed unusually pale, from blood loss maybe. He continued. “5,000 years ago a water demon was found half dead in the Uasi River in the Northern Kingdom. A monk found her and healed her back to life. As time went on the mortal monk fell in love with her. The monk knowing that he would die before she would love him, searched for the legendary jewel. For the year he was gone the water demon steadily got sicker and sicker. By the time the monk came back with no jewel the water demon was nearly dead. The monk ashamed of his love comforted her as a friend never fully realizing she loved him. The day of the blue moon, the water demon asked him to fuse his soul to hers so they could live together in one heart. The monk making true of her wish fused his soul and hers to his very core not knowing he was the holder of the jewel. The died and their bodies were burned and once again the jewel left this world, but before the monk died he uttered a prophecy. He said with his gasping breath, ‘Western shall collide head long with Eastern and northern shall witness the decline of the south unless one born of hate, distrust and half kills the one he was not intend ended the women’s life who was not finds the child of life, love and deep understanding then shall the world cease it’s existence and the prince shall never reign over the king, the king who will cause the war by killing the rightful leader.” InuYasha finished he knew how the girl felt by the look on her face. He uttered the last part to himself, “Under the blood red sun shall the scorn of a princesses fate be punished upon one of a noble cur.”
“Ye do know that the prophecy was only half told to ye.” Kaede said as she walked into the room carrying a brown bag of sickening sweet herbs. “Ye father didn’t tell of the full story for fear of Sesshomaru’s scorn.”
“What?” InuYasha asked her.
“I shall tell ye later after I fix her up.” Kaede said as she shooed InuYasha out of the room. InuYasha leaned against the wall listening to her talk. “Dear child, InuYasha’s father did not tell all or how he was involved. Ye see InuYasha’s father came across a maiden who had great power but could not use it for something prevented it. An evil man named Naraku had cursed her to a life of pain and misery. InuYasha’s father, freed her with the Shikon no Tama or as we know it the jewel of the four souls. InuYasha doesn’t know his father died to free her from his eternal enemy and her mortal one. For the lord Naraku had summoned a mighty foe that killed the already mortally wounded King. InuYasha I know ye are listening. Ye can come in now that I have finished with the wrapping.” InuYasha growled and walked in.
“How did you know something even I did not?” InuYasha asked.
“Because you and your brother’s destiny are at hand. And the war of the kingdom is at hand. Two of noble blood, two of the spirit and two of demonic essence shall command destiny.” Kaede said as she stood. “You, Kagome, Miroku, Sango, and Kirara and another shall command the judgment of our world. So then must you set out and discover the last link to form and shape the last barrier against the new king of the Eastern lands, Lord Naraku. the previous king and his heir were brutally murdered by an asssiasn known as the Silver Fang, or so the rumors say.”
“No.” Kagome cried softly. InuYasha looked at her as she sobbed.
