Chapter 10: Promise

“What do you mean no? It isn’t like you were related to the King.” InuYasha said as he leaned against the doorframe. Kaede looked at the girl as if she knew the answer. InuYasha shook his head. ‘No way she would know the answer.’ he thought to himself.

“Actually InuYasha I did know him quite well.” Kagome softly said.

“Really.” InuYasha asked amused.

“I was a…servant in his house hold.” Kagome said. Her scent betrayed her answer.

“Kaede I have to speak to my brother Sesshomaru.” InuYasha told Kaede. Kagome looked at him and then narrowed her eyes.

“You’re a prince?” she accused.

“Yea and what of it?” InuYasha said as he left the room. InuYasha ran across the ground musing over the speech he had overheard. Racing up the main steps to the front door InuYasha barely heard the shouts and curses. InuYasha stopped however when he can to his brother’s study he sniffed and sighed in relief when his brother’s scent was strong. He banged on the door and a shrimpy toad opened the door, an annoyed expression on his face.

“Lord Sesshomaru wishes to see no visitors,” Jaken said then looked InuYasha in the face, “Oh its you.” he sneered.

“Let him in Jaken.” Sesshomaru’s cold voice commanded. The toad bowed and retreated from the doorway.

“The heir, do have her portrait?” InuYasha quickly asked as he leaned on the desk his brother sat at,

“Yes. But why?” Sesshomaru asked him.

“Because I think I made a mistake. Um what’s with your hair?” InuYasha asked noticing his brother’s new hairstyle.

“Rin decided to make me promise to do anything for her. I agreed and now my hairs curly. What do mean a mistake? InuYasha I was informed the mission was successful. You never fail. Only once did you but you went back.” Sesshomaru said with no emotion.

“She braided the great and powerful lords hair? Ha I wish I were there. I think I killed the wrong person. I might have been right but I want to check.” InuYasha admitted.

“Hmm.” Sesshomaru said as he reached into his desk and pulled out a painting the size of InuYasha’s hand.

“Shit!” InuYasha growled as he looked at the picture.

“Sesshy you let him speak like that around me?” Rin’s voice came from behind InuYasha.

“InuYasha apologize.” Sesshomaru ordered.

“Sorry, but I love what you did with Fluff’s hair.” InuYasha said staring at the portrait.

“InuYasha.” Sesshomaru growled.

“InuYasha promise that you’ll never use bad words or insults around a lady or you have to do what ever I say.” Rin said.

“I promise.” InuYasha said absent-mindedly. “Shit” he said again as he crushed the girl’s painted face in his hand.

“Come here Yash.” Rin commanded. “I want to braid your hair.” InuYasha glared at her and was about to protest.

“You promised InuYasha. Don’t make me throw you in the dungeon with Jakotsu it seems he tried to steal again.” InuYasha looked at the crushed portrait in his hand and nodded.

“I didn’t kill her. I didn’t kill the Eastern King. I killed the wrong person!” InuYasha growled. “She’s here in Miroku’s old hut!” Sesshomaru and Rin looked at him with blank expressions.
