InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Under the Blood Red Sun ❯ He knows! ( Chapter 11 )
Chapter 11: He knows!
“Child, I am going to tell ye now that the Silver Fang did not kill ye father.” Kaede said as she gathered her various things. Kagome looked at her with a blank expression.
“What do you mean?” Kagome asked sure it was a safe answer.
Kaede sighed and said, “I know ye are the Princess Higurashi. No don’t deny it, but I think Prince InuYasha knows it as well. If he doesn’t tell ye then act like he really doesn’t know. I’m sure the Lord, as he prefers to be called, will not let this information leak out to the public until you plan to tell them. I know who ye are because ye caught the yellow fever a year ago; I was the one who healed ye. Ye wouldn’t know this since ye were in a coma of sorts.”
“Oh, how do you know that the Silver Fang didn’t kill my father? And what about my brother? In my lands it is the oldest that inherits the land.” Kagome looked at her hands.
“I know he didn’t kill them because I know who he is. I’m sure Lord Sesshomaru didn’t instruct him to kill your father. You see only Sesshomaru instructs the Silver Fang. I know I called him by his name.” Kaede said seeing the shocked look on Kagome’s face. “Ye see if anybody wants the Silver Fang to assassinate somebody then they have to go through Lord Sesshomaru. It is him that allows the Silver Fang to kill somebody. As for your brother and your mother they both escaped through a secret passage in the castle and are now somewhere in hiding.” Kaede told her walking to the door. “Now stay in bed and don’t get out for another day. I’ll let Sango now about your condition. She’ll come and cook for ye. Bye.” she left the room and after a while heard Kaede leave the building.
Kagome opened her hands and looked at the round pink sphere that faintly glowed. She looked at the object that had somehow come from her body. ‘Is this the Jewel that caused so much heartbreak, terror and greed? Will it actually cause a war?’ she thought to herself. ‘Mother and Sota are missing, but it’s a good missing right? Father’s dead. I’m 16 a marriageable age, was supposed to marry Lord Naraku who took over the throne that rightfully belongs to me. I wonder if InuYasha truly knows my secret? Not the secret of my heritage but darker and deeper.’ Kagome stared at the jewel not hearing the low whistle as somebody walked into her house.
“What happened here? It seems like a certain hanyou was extremely pissed.” A male voice said carrying into her room and slicing through her thoughts.
“Oh, I got attacked by some sort of bug demon and InuYasha ran me back here and he sorta kicked the door in.” Kagome called to Miroku.
“You got injured? What where you doing in demon forest then?” Miroku asked as he came into her room. The soldier was in a dark purple tunic and his pants were black. He was wearing a light armor. Black shoulder pads, breastplate, gauntlets, shin guards and he held a black helmet in his hands. A ring of purple was painted on the center of his breastplate that had smaller rings attached to it. His dark purple cape fell along his back but hung a bare half an inch from the ground. His black hair was in a horsetail and his brown eyes flashed mischievously.
“You’re a Calvary man?” Kagome asked recognizing the light armor.
He looked startled then nodded. “Yeah, though I’m a General of the 2nd mounted force. See, my helmet has one of those ridiculous plumes InuYasha is always making fun of.” he held up his helmet for her to see and sure enough black and purple feathers stuck out the top of it. “Sango said her other Neko demon went missing, Zurni I guess didn’t come home last night.” Kagome looked at him like he was crazy. “It’s almost dawn. Kirara usually goes out around now. So have you seen a huge cat about this big, solid black with red eyes?” he held his hand up to his waist.
“No, but I’ve met Kirara.” Kagome said as she shifted her weight on the bed.
“Really she attacked you. Cause the only reason she does that is because she wants to play.” Miroku chuckled as he sat on the only chair in the room. “Hey what’s that?” Miroku asked pointing to the jewel in Kagome’s hands.
“This? Oh I found it when I wandering the city.” Kagome hastily said. The man looked like he accepted it and nodded.
“Well I better keep looking for Zurni. Who knows what that cat’s been up too. Anyway if you see a black kitten with red eyes that’s him too.” Miroku stood and bowed. “It was such a pleasure meeting a lovely lady such as yourself. May I ask you a personal question?” Kagome froze when he said it and gulped.
“What?” she managed to ask.
“Would you bear my child?” he asked getting on his knees in front of her. Kagome looked at him and flinched when the soldier fell forward and revealed a very mad looking Sango.
“I’m sorry for the pervert’s antics. I see he has to spend another day in a cell.” Sango said grabbing his body by the arm. She dragged him out of the room and Sango returned. “Okay see, he has this wandering hand. So if he gropes you just slap him or kick him. That usually works then again if InuYasha sees it Miroku might end up at the bottom of the Amere River.” Sango said as she sat on the bed.
“Oh why does he do that?” Kagome asked as she grabbed her side. The pain was returning.
“He is…I don’t really know. Are you okay? Kaede said something about you getting hurt. Oh yeah before I forget InuYasha had some dresses specially made for you, I’ll bring them by later.” Sango said. A soft mew came from under the bed and a solid black kitten came out, stretching. “Oh there you are Zurni. Then again I did tell you to hide from Miroku so he would search for you and leave me alone.” Sango picked the cat up and put it on her lap.
“He’s cute.” Kagome said as she moved closer to Sango so she could pet Zurni.
“He’s my second fire neko. He’s just about the same as Kirara except the color of his fire is blue and green. Somebody found him on the side of the Traders Highway. He was injured. Luckily the person who found him knew about a weapons expert that had a fire neko already and knew how to raise them. So he took the kitten to Sesshomaru. Miroku has never let me live it down that this little beast loves to follow him around. In fact I think it’s because he was the first person Zurni saw when Miroku brought him to me 3 years ago.” Sango said handing the kitten to Kagome. “I had this giant boomerang and I was out in the training ring with it when he asked if I knew where the weapons expert was. He told me somebody with silver hair and dog-ears pointed towards the ring. I said yes I know and I asked what do what me for. He looked at me and asked if I was the weapons expert and I told him yes. He then jumped the fence and asked to bear my child. He was out for a couple of minutes when I realized a black kitten was huddling in his cloak.”
“Really so that’s how you two met. I bet he was surprised to find out you were the weapons expert and you’re a girl.” Kagome said as she petted the kitten’s silky fur.
“Yeah later he challenged me to a spar with staffs. I took it easy on him and nearly lost. But don’t tell him that, he thinks I went hard on him.” Sango laughed.
“He likes you don’t he? In his own way.” Kagome asked cradling Zurni in her arms.
“Yeah, I think I do to.” Sango admitted. “But if he doesn’t stop groping me he’ll end up in a ditch somewhere.”
“Funny, he thinks you’re serious too. I mean the look on his face was pure terror.” Kagome said as the kitten jumped to the floor.
“It’s okay Zurni you can go home and sleep.” Sango said as the kitten looked at her. The cat ran out of the room. “He does that. He waits tell you tell him to do something.”
“Hmm.” Kagome replied.
***InuYasha***
InuYasha sat on a large tree ranch that overhung a clear and secluded pond. He sat there thinking, his eyes closed and appearing to the world asleep. But the hanyou was very much awake. ‘I screwed up. For the first time in two years I screwed up. I killed the wrong person. What in the hell was she doing in town anyway? I know for a fact that that kingdom’s nobility hardly ever leave the castle’s comfort. I know this because my father took me on a diplomatic trip when I was 8, three years before he and my mother where ambushed by renegade demons. Or so our soldiers thought. Sesshomaru believes they were assassinated and right after father getting wounded again.’ InuYasha thought back to the day he was eight and the first time he ever left the Kingdom.
***Flashback***
“Father, are we there yet?” 8-year-old InuYasha asked from his pony.
His father looked down at him from his gray charger and chuckled, “Not yet son. When you see the stone gates that keep thieves out then we are there,” his father said as he turned around to check the progress of the troops that had followed them. InuYasha pouted as Sesshomaru’s white charger came into view ahead of them. “Hail Sesshomaru, will they open the gates for us?” his father asked as Sesshomaru brought the horse to a stop besides his gray one.
“Yes, in fact around this bend in the trail, the gates are being opened as we speak.” Sesshomaru said happily. InuYasha watched the trail intently waiting for the huge stone gates to appear. Excited InuYasha was bouncing up and down on his pony’s back.
“Ease up InuYasha, you’re going to hurt Kaben,” his father sternly said looking down at him, but smiling. InuYasha grinned and shouted as the gates came into view.
**An Hour later**
“Why do I have to play with her?” InuYasha asked hissing the word her as he pointed at a young girl.
“Because, unlike you she has nobody to play with,” his father said.
“But she’s a girl!” InuYasha protested as his father left the room.
“Hi.” the girl said brightly. “Want to go riding?” she asked him.
“Sure.” InuYasha said a plan forming in his mind.
***E.O.F.***
“Yes that’s right, we went racing and she knocked me off my pony when I stuck my tongue at her.” InuYasha mumbled. He held his fang up to his face, a gift from his father the day before he died.
***Flashback***
“InuYasha, here this fang is mine and will protect you against the demon blood raging in your body. When your mad or protecting somebody it will transform into a great and powerful sword,” his father said as he handed a necklace to InuYasha. On it a fang glistened as is twisted. “Protect it, and remember I will never leave you.”
“Thank you father.” InuYasha said as he grabbed the fang.
***E.O.F***
“this is a symbol of my job, my father and my kingdom.” InuYasha said to himself as the fang twisted in his hand.
“So this is where you’ve been hiding, what the hell? What happened to your hair?” Miroku asked as he wondered into InuYasha’s spot.
“Oh, Rin thought my mouth needed cleaning so she braided my hair with flowers in it. Told me not to take it out unless some other girl takes it out without asking.” he growled as he jumped out of the tree and landed with a soft thump beside Miroku.
“So what were you thinking about?” Miroku asked as he grinned.
“About the fact that I killed the wrong person.” InuYasha said spacing out.
“”You what!” Miroku shouted.
“Yes, Kagome she’s the heir. Here listen to what Sesshomaru told me to do with her.” InuYasha said looking at Miroku. “He told me to act like I didn’t know, that I should get to know her since her parents are probably dead. He wants me to become friends with her so when she reclaims the throne, our land will be her allies.”
“That’s a good idea.” Miroku said grinning. “So she’s royalty, eh?”
“Don’t get any ideas, monk!” InuYasha threatened him.
“What ideas?” Miroku asked innocently. InuYasha growled at him.
