InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Unexpected Developements ❯ Chapter 2
Okay I'm gonna be the first to say that this chapter may not make a whole lot of sense right now but in the end it may make perfect sense. Well I don't own any of the Inuyasha characters obviously if I did people would sue me because of how badly I put things together and how long it takes me to do that! Well here you go hopefully you all enjoy regardless of how confusing the first part maybe.

Sometimes one often wonders how does one stay sane during years of confinement, and I could easily answer that. For me I had of course Kaede, but she wasn't always there because of course my wicked stepmother did not always allow Kaede passage to my room; so I had to do something to ease the loneliness I felt in between Kaede's visits.
It was my twelfth birthday nothing special really, because no one celebrated it, hell, I didn't even celebrate it, I wouldn't have even remembered it had it not been for Kaede and her awful friends coming up to tease me. It's sad that I even remember their jeers, but what's one to do when locked up and away from the world? Create an imaginary friend of course!
Shippo was his name. Yes, I said he because at this point in life I wasn't very fond of females it seemed like all the wrongs committed against me, were done by females. It all started with my mother, she died, than my stepmother, she locked me away, and than my beloved half sister, who teased me. But this part of the story wasn't about them it was about Shippo and how he got my through my childhood years. Well here I` am twenty-one and in need of some serious help that I'm sure only Shippo can give. (I know she sounding a little crazy right now but it'll make sense eventually, after all how sane would you be after being lock in the same room for nearly 6 years?)
***
It all started this morning when her father and stepmother had sent for her, telling her that today would be a very important day for her.
She knew something was up because people who don't exist don't have important days, but she smiled (as best as she could) anyway and suffered through the primping, and polishing meant to take away the haggard look of being locked away in the same dark room for several years. When she arrived before her father and stepmother sometime in the late after noon she looked like a new woman. She wore one of Kikyo's gowns that had been fitted just for her and soft slippers, her hair hung loosely about her face and shoulders concealing her expression as she entered her father study.
The Baron and Baroness sat in high backed chair with their chins held high to anyone other than Kagome they would appear regal and noble, but to her they were just ordinary people who had the title but no wealth.
The Baroness was the first to speak her voice was icy as she addressed her stepdaughter. "Sit Kagome, we have much to speak of."
Kagome knew it was a lie the we part, anyway because she would do no speaking, and that she was sure of. Bowing mockingly if not a little awkwardly Kagome took her seat, and nodded at both her father and stepmother.
"Well now that your little display is over shall we get down to business?" The Baroness asked sarcastically.
Kagome made no move to answer because she knew the Lady did want to hear one.
"Kagome darling." The Baroness began as she looked at her husband out of the corner of her eye. "It has been brought to my attention that your mother has left you quite a bit of wealth, and land."
Perking up at this bit of nonsense Kagome remained speechless yet intrigued.
"You knew nothing of this did you?" Her stepmother asked her quietly.
When Kagome shook her head no The Baroness sighed. "It seems that you won't be able to touch it until your twenty-first birthday which passed here recently, but!" The Baroness interjected then laughed when she saw that Kagome was practically on the edge of her seat waiting for the information.
"But what?" She asked.
The Baroness narrowed her eyes. "If you want your money and freedom you must ruin you non-existent reputation so your sister can come back and actually have a life."
Kagome's eyebrows shot up in anger. "I have to ruin my reputation what for? Isn't it enough for you already that I don't exist?"
The Baron had heard enough he stood and walked over to his daughter the only one he felt any true affection for but refused to truly show it. "Don't you want your freedom?"
Kagome looked deep into her father's eyes and saw something there she'd never seen-love. "Yes."
He smiled a bit. "Then do what she's asking of you." He paused. "Please?"
Kagome sighed then looked at her stepmother. "What is it that you'll have me do?"
The Baroness smiled. " I want to give you to the Viscount St. Clair as a gift for what he has lost even though you don't compare."
"And what's giving me away got to do with anything?" Kagome asked just a wee bit confused.
The Baroness stood and walked over to her stepdaughter. "You will be the decoy. You will take his mind off of Kikyo so that way, she can come back home with out being bothered by him. Even though I personally think he would be good for her." She added as an after thought.
Kagome stopped and thought for a minute. "Sounds easy enough, I'll do it and then after that I'll disappear again but under one condition."
"What's that, my child?" The Baron asked in a fatherly tone that Kagome hadn't heard in ages. "I want Kaede."
Before the Baroness could say no her father spoke. "Then you will have her." They shared a brief smile before he spoke again in a whisper. "Go now and get ready I want to have you out of here before sundown that way I will be sure you are away from this place for good."
Kagome stood and left the room but not before she heard the Baroness blow her top with her father.
When the door closed the Baroness screeched. "What are you doing Charles?"
"Making a last attempt at being a father to a girl who needed a dad a long time ago, but I let a bitch stop me from giving her one." He said as he gave her a pointed look.

Kagome took the steps two at a time she was never so glad to make it back to this small dusty room, because she knew it would be the very last time she would ever have to be confined to these walls.
There were very few things she wished to take with her because there was barely anything in this room of any value. Except for Basil, her old stuffed rabbit that her mother had given her years ago and her old baby blanket that was knitted by Kaede. Once she had everything in a small traveling bag that once belonged to her mother she went to seek out Kaede to tell her the good news.

Their journey to the St. Clair townhouse was a rather short too short for Kagome. When the Carriage rolled to a stop Kagome welcomed the feel of Kaede work roughened hands, and the warm pressure her father applied to the back of her spine. She was once again in one of Kikyo dresses her father had many of them altered and fitted to her size and packed away so they could later be sent to the St. Clair townhouse should the Viscount except.
As they all stepped out of the carriage The Baron spoke up. "Do not worry about your money dear I will make she Sara will not be able to touch it, nor will Kikyo."
She turned to her father and smiled. "Thank you." She said politely. "I guess we should go on and move forward with our plan."
"Ah, yes we shall."

"Milord it seems that you have some visitors two are females and the other call's himself Charles Ellis." Myoga informed.
Inuyasha stood up from his desk surprised to see his manservant standing before him. "Umm show Mr. Ellis in and have the others wait in the Parlor, Myoga."
"Yes Milord."
Inuyasha watched as his faithful manservant left the room as quietly as he had entered. "Jeeze, he really needs to stop doing that."
Doing what Milord." Myoga asked with a smiled.
"That!"
Myoga pretend not to notice what his employer was speaking of. "Here is Mr. Ellis."
Inuyasha smiled as his butler hurried off not for getting to close the door tightly behind him.
He stared at Mr. Ellis for a moment aka. The Baron, and saw a rather fidgety man. "Well out with it, what brings you here?"
"It's about my daughter." The Baron blurted.
Inuyasha paused. "Who? Kikyo?"
"No, Kagome." The Baron replied coolly.
Inuyasha rounded his desk and opened a drawer pulling out two cigars tossing one to the Baron. "What about her?"
"I want to give her to you as a gift."
"Well that's funny because I was going to come to you today and ask if I could have her as my wife."
"Wife!"
Inuyasha took cigar and cut the tip then lit it. "Yep, but now that your just giving her to me I don't have to ask because no she belongs to me right?"
"Well I guess she does."
Inuyasha took a drag from his cigar. "What I don't get is why you just giving her to me, what's in it for you."
The Baron sighed. "I get the satisfaction of knowing that my daughter is no longer locked away in a to small space with no one but her self for company."
Inuyasha continued to puff on his cigar, as he appeared to be thinking. "I guess that make sense."
"So will you except my gift, Viscount?" The Baron asked hopefully.
"Imagine I will, sir." He paused. "One of the ladies in my Parlor room must be Kagome so who is the other if you don't mind me asking?"
"It's Kaede Kagome's ladies maid." He lied.
"Oh I guess she might need one of those." Inuyasha laughed. "Well lets be off with you now rest assured I will take good care of your daughter."
Inuyasha ushered the Baron out of his study and out of his home not even letting him stop to say bye to his daughter.
"Well that was easy." He thought. Now for the hard part and that would be wooing and seducing Kagome Ellis hopefully she had a bit of her sister in her that way the job would be much more easier than what it appeared to be now.
With that he turned in the direction of his Parlor wonder what would make the challenge easier little did he know that everything would soon come together in due time.
