Unseen Lover, Hearts Betrayal
By Mija
Disclaimer~Don't own Inu and Company, and just realized my mistake in chapter one where Kagome's mother claims to be the Late Princess Izoyi's Half sister, well it was supposed to be Step Sister since they share no blood, wouldn't want Inu getting it on with his cousin, lol. So Kagomes Mom is step sister to Izoyi who is no longer living. Hope that's cleared. Anyhow still havent found my beta so bare with the mistakes k? I know theres a lot of them but I am trying and the spell checker on this things does catch SOME so it helps right? Huggles and smiles Mija….J
Chapter 3~Introductions!!
~~~A week had passed and it was time for Kagome to leave. Kagome sat in her place in the great hall with her sisters, mother and father, awaiting the arrival of the Demon Lord's vassal. Kagome did her best to remain calm and not show the fear and nervousness that she was filling. She was plain out scared. She was about to leave the home she had always known, the people she loved, a place she felt protected and cherished. She had spent her last week at the palace with all the people she loved to see and talk with, which included lots of the servants, some of the few friends she had made and of course lots of time with her dad. Not surprisingly her mother had avoided her most of that time and her older sister had teased her, so she hadn't spent much time with them alone. Now it would soon be time to leave, and she was terrified. She suddenly thought that she should of spent some time with her mother and sisters, cause at the moment she felt like running into her mothers arms and crying. Not that her mother had ever been that loving during her childhood. Something she could not really understand. And being the youngest of them all she had been picked on and teased all her life by her sisters, but even that she would gladly go through all over again if she did not have to leave.
~~~Soon the court was in an uproar as the courtiers announced the arrival of the Lords entourage. They had known that the Lord himself would not be present to pick up his bride. But his vassals and guards would be coming to take her to him at the Western Palace. It still rankled Lord Himato that he would not meet the man or demon who was to be his beloved daughters husband. He had wanted to see what he was like, have the opportunity to gage his personality and attitude, in hopes of figuring out what sort of person or being he was and if he would be good to his Kagome. But he had been warned that the Lord himself would not come, not because he didn't want to but it had been a part of the treaty. Until the union between the two houses was complete in both human and demon ways, none of her family were allowed to see him or his sister. It was more for Kanna's protection than anyone elses. She was too young and vunerable, and until Inuyasha was certain that the human lords family posed no threat to his little sister then he was content to follow the treaties guidelines. But he had sent his most trusted guards and his personal friend. A human monk named Miroku. As well as his vassal Jaken. Altough Inu still debated wether that was a good idea or not. Jaken was not something his bride to be should see first, he was an ugly toad demon who had the most annoying voice, and he tended to think himself superior to humans and hanyous, although he did not show disrespect to his lord or young lady, for fear of his life.
~~~Kagome's hands shook as she watched the huge palace doors open to allow the Great Lords emissaries. The first thing she saw were her own fathers guards and vassals as they escorted the guests. The next thing she saw made all of them gasp and almost had Kagome fainting. It was a small green demon with a beak like mouth, with a staff in his hands that had two ugly looking heads on top of it. His eyes were huge and he looked upon them with an air of superiority. But he was dressing in fine robes, Kagome wondered how anyone could make such fine robes for such a little and ugly looking thing. Seeing the demon did not help ease any of her fears, in fact they helped to aide them. If this was just a vassal, she feared what her husband to be would look like. She was starting to think that the small detail her father had told her about being able to come back home, was a good thing after all.
~~~The next person to walk in was a human monk, which surprised them all, but helped ease Kagome a little, very little, but it was something. What would a demon lord be doing with a human monk? Demons were not known to believe in the same religion as humans. Was he there just for her? The monk walked up to the platform that they all sat at and bowed his respects.
"My Lord, greetings, may their be many blessings upon you and your family." came the greeting from the monk as he bowed towards Lord Himato.
"Greetings and welcome monk." came Himato's own greetings as he nodded his head in acceptance of his presence in his court.
"My lord I am Miroku, an emissary of Lord Inuyasha, The Demon Lord of the Western Lands, I am here to help ease your worries about the union between your daughter and my Lord, being a monk and able to fulfill all the rites and ceremonies of a traditional and honest human wedding between the two houses, as well as answer any questions you may have on the treaty and living conditions of your daughter, since I have been fully taught all the finer details of the treaty and I know the ways of demons as well." stated the monk, who Kagome thought was rather handsome and young. He had black hair, cut short and pulled into a small dragon tail at the nape, he had violet colored eyes and a genuinely wide smile. He wore the traditional robes of a holy monk of deep purple and black. He wore an odd glove like covering over his right hand, that was wrapped in prayer beads and in the other hand held a golden staff with rings that jingled. Both of his ears were pierced and had golden hoops in them. All in all he was quite pleasing to the eye and she could hear Kikyo and Kagura whispering and tittering about him as well. Kagome was not surprised. The two often liked to flirt and gossip about all handsome young men. From the look on the monks face as he glanced secretively at them, he was no stranger to flirtation and a pretty face.
"Monk am I to be assured that when my daughter is taken from here that a human ceremony of marriage that is binding by human law will be performed? I will not have my daughter be some concubine to anyone." came Lord Himato's voice.
"I assure you my lord, that I personally will see to the ceremony myself and I am an honest monk who works for Buddha. I would never lead another into a situation that might damn her soul." came the monks response.
"How will I know if you are telling me the truth? After all she will have no family there to see that things are done right, that she will be properly wed and taken care of." asked the human lord.
"Have you heard of the monk called Musatchi?" asked Miroku.
"I have, he was the personal servant and monk to the royal family of my predoccesor, he was said to be a man of great faith and honorable to the core, he performed the wedding ceremony that united the last demon lord to our great late and beloved Lady Izoyi, it is said that when she left this palace, Musatchi followed her as well to be her spiritual guide as well as guardian." replied Himato.
"Then you might be pleased to know that Musatchi was my grandfather and he taught both me and my father the way of the Buddha." Miroku replied with a sincere smile.
"You are Musatchi's ancestor?" the lord asked with surprise.
"I am my Lord."
"I have faith that Musatchi would raise his grandson well, for this I am grateful, and would consider it a great favor if you would watch over my daughter as well as Musatchi watched over Lady Izoyi."
"I would be honored and promise in the name of Buddha that no harm shall come to your daughter, I will protect her with my life as well as make myself available to her if she needs a confidant or religious advisor." came the monks vow and all present saw no insincerity in his eyes or voice.
"Thank you monk…this helps ease some of my worries…come, we shall go to my private quarters and discuss the details of the treaty before you depart with my precious daughter." Himato lightly ordered.
"Of course, but can I ask which one of you most beautiful daughters is my Lords intended?" the monk asked. Himato turned to Kagome and nodded his head in an order for her to introduce herself.
"I am Himato Kagome, youngest of my fathers daughters and your lords intended." stated Kagome.
Miroku watched as the young beauty stood and introduced herself. She was beautiful. And young. He had been sure of the elder daughters would be Inuyasha's intended but he had been wrong. Not that he was complaining. This girl had something about her, he could tell. He felt a precense about her. She would be perfect for his temperamental friend.
"Greetings My Lady, it is a great honor to meet you." Miroku replied as he stood and kissed her hand before following Himato into his private study along with Jaken, who would also be witness to all said and done so that no demon could counter Inuyasha's claim to keeping the treaty.
