Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Loveless Suna ❯ Chapter 12 ( Chapter 12 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Sorry for the wait, but here's next chapter.
But first I need to explain what effect the small message had.
Nobody dares to say or write Gaara's birth name if you're addressing him. Not even his enemies. Except Shizuka, so when Gaara receives an anomies letter with his name on, his first thought would be Shizuka. And he's has fallen madly in love with her (not that he's ready to admit it) and will follow every lead he gets to have her back.
I know it's maybe far fetched, but work with me here.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
The wedding day came closer and closer with each day. I twirled around examining myself in my wedding dress in front of a mirror, only to stop after 360 degrees. It was a beautiful dress and I didn't even want to know how much it had cost.
“You look beautiful.” I heard a maid compliment me and I gave her friendly smile. The last days they had been very busy with making the dress fit like a second skin while I was started to worry more and more about Gaara.
`Did he get it?' I wondered. `Even if he didn't get it, he will notice the connection between this marriage and the attack when Danjuro informs him.' I put myself at rest, but nevertheless started to wonder if in the end I wouldn't become Mv. Shori…
`Alright, I don't even know my future last name.' I thought with a sigh. `No, Shizuka you can't think this way. Gaara will come and save you!' I barked at myself, but the gnawing feeling inside didn't disappear.
“Gorgeous!” I heard someone say with a sigh and just now noticed Shori's reflection in the mirror. I looked at him like it was the first time I've seen his face until I remembered something.
“You can't see me!” I yelled all of a sudden and sprinted behind a maid to hide. I saw my husband-to-be blink at me while I held the maid firmly as shield.
“It brings bad luck if the groom sees the bride in her dress before the wedding.” I said with a pout and he started to laugh.
“Where did you get that from?” He asked between laughs and I looked with a hurt expression back at him.
“That's a tradition from home.” I mumbled releasing the maid.
“Oh, I'm sorry then, I shouldn't have laughed. Hmm. Are there more of these traditions?” He recovered himself and I started to think.
`If this is going to end in my only marriage then I should make the best off it. NO, Gaara will save you!' I yelled the last part, but nevertheless started to proclaim another tradition.
“Well, normally I should have something new, something old, something borrowed and something blue.” I said in such a childish voice that Shori couldn't help but smile.
“Alright, something new you already have, so now only still something old, borrowed and blue.” I saw him think for a moment. “Oh, I know.” He said all of a sudden and rushed out of the room. I looked questionable at the maid, who I had held prisoner a little while ago, but she only shrugged. Ten minutes later Shori returned running with something in his hand. Curiously I looked at him and he showed two old, blue earrings.
“These were my mother's, but I think that she'll have no problems with lending them to you.” He explained and I felt myself honored.
“They're beautiful.” I confessed, accepting them and keeping them before my ear watching there impact in the mirror. `He really does his best to make me happy.' I thought guilty. `I almost wished I was really in love with him.' Sighing I gave the earrings to the maid and offered Shori a smile in gratitude, which quickly disappeared again.
“Didn't I tell you that you can't see me in my dress before the wedding?!” I exclaimed pushing him out of the room.

In a good mood I walked back to my room. Humming I opened my door and my eyes almost fell out of my head. On my bed was sitting a weasel in a purple-red outfit with one eye covered. After a couple of minutes looking like an imbecile at the weasel, his patience was clearly getting thinner with the moment and hmphed while giving me a note.
`Shizuka, if you're reading this, then we found you at last. Gaara's going to be glad, he lost it when he learned that you had been kidnapped. When he got that note with his name on he immediately thought of you. You are the only one who dares to call him that, not even his enemies dare that. I hope you're alright and please write something back. xxx Temari'
“Temari…” I said full disbelieve and finally recognized the weasel. “But I don't have something to write back with.” I mumbled turning over the paper, but the blonde had clearly considered this because the weasel was pushing a pencil in my hand.
`Temari, I'm captured by a man, called Shori, somewhere in Suna. Shori intend to marry me to take revenge on Gaara, but I believe he has fallen in love with me, so don't worry he treats me very well. But like you already know the Matshuo clan is going to attack Konoha again and this on the wedding day. Danjuro Matshuo a so called friend of Shori will betray the marriage to Gaara to keep him away from Konoha. Therefore how much I want to be saved if you have to choose, please choose Konoha over me.'
The last I wrote with pain in the heart, but Konoha was more important. Still I hoped that Gaara wouldn't listen to me and get me out of here. I returned the note to the weasel, which quickly crawled back out the window.
I followed and saw him disappearing in a couple of shrubs without being noticed. `Never know that weasels had such a good sense of smell.' After the weasel was gone, I lay relieved down on my bed and a minute later darkness had captured me.
-
“Shizuka.” I heard a voice obtain me from my dream state. With difficultly I raised my eye members and saw Shori's face become clear.
“What wrong?” I mumbled sleepy.
“My sister is here. I know she a day to soon, but that's just the way she is.” He informed me while I was sitting up.
“Oh.” I answered not entirely understanding the sentence yet.
“So are you coming down?” The blackhead asked quietly and I nodded.
“Wait, what's tomorrow?” I stopped him stunned and Shori looked confused back at me.
“Tomorrow is the rehearsal of the wedding, because we'll be married in three days.” He said and I was directly entirely awake.
“In three days? How come? I thought we were only getting married in a couple of weeks!” I exclaimed.
“Yes, normally, but Danjuro asked if we could advance it.” He explained.
“What? Why do you always do what that guy asks?!” I yelled and saw Shori face darken.
“He has helped me, so it's only natural that I return the favor.”
`What!' I screamed once more in my head, but kept quiet. I knew very well that when Shori became this way he didn't listen to reason.
“I'll come.” I gave in and followed him trough the door. `Now Gaara can never save me before Konoha is attacked.' I thought with a frightened heart. `He will have to choose and I have told him to choose Konoha.' I was obtained from my thoughts when I heard a door open and watched Shori holding the living room door open for me.
-
I walked passed him and saw a woman with black hair standing turned towards a window. When she turned herself around to us, I also noticed that she had the same eyes as her brother, but they held another emotion I couldn't tell.
“Shizuka-chan, how nice to finally meet you. I'm Keiko, Shori's big sister.” She said with a sweet voice. I returned her greeting with a pleasant smile. “Come sit down, dear.” She made a friendly gesture to the seats while seating herself on the biggest one. “Now tell me, how did you wrap my little brother around you're finger so quickly.” She asked when Shori and I had accompanied her. I noticed that Shori sat rather close to me, like he wanted to protect me.
“Euh, well. I was just being myself.” I said honestly while in my head my answer was an entirely different story. `How should I know? I've no idea how the hell he fell for me.'
“Oh, and how did you two meet?” She continued asking the usual questions.
“He kidnapped me.” I answered before knowing it and saw Shori from my eye angles stiffen.
“Oh, haha, you've got a funny one here, little brother.” Keiko laughed while the little brother relaxed and again I saw a flash of that unknown emotion in Keiko's eyes. “I still remember how I met Engo. He was so romantic.” She sighed completely smitten in her own world. “He literally swept me off my feet.” She continued and shot back in the real world all of a sudden. “Did Shori also do that? Was he romantic?” She asked sarcastic like she already knew the answer.
“Euh…” I felt a warning feeling in me rise and noticed Shori stiffen again. `This woman is a wolf in sheep's clothes. And she seemed to like it a lot to belittle her brother.' I decided she needed to be taught a lesson and grabbed Shori's hand.
“Oh yes, he was so romantic. At first he overwhelmed me so that I didn't even know what was happening. Afterwards he brought here and declared his love for me. More romantic wasn't possible.” I said dreamingly and saw Keiko's face tighten. She clearly wasn't used to someone claiming something else when she had already decided truth.
“Oh, I didn't know that you had a romanticist in you, Shori.” She answered with a forced smile. I had the urge to roll my eyes, but restrained myself. But I couldn't keep looking at her and turned me attention to the window. To my surprise I saw sand dripping through a crack in the glass.
`Gaara!' I thought with a beat of my heart. Shori must have read my body language, because I heard him say `sand' all of a sudden.
“What sand? We're in a desert of course there's sand.” Keiko said as if he had just said the most stupid thing ever, but Shori wasn't listening to here anymore. He quickly pulled me of the seat and rushed to the door, but before we could reach it, it opened showing a very pissed Gaara.
“Gaara!” I exclaimed this time and felt Shori's grip tighten around my arm.
“Kazekage-sama!” I heard Keiko screech stunned behind us. Shori drew me behind him like he wanted to protect me, but still kept his hold on me.
“You have something that's mine!” Gaara said cold and Keiko made a surprised sound.
“Shori, what did you stole from the Kazekage!” She exclaimed angrily.
“No, you can't have her!” Shori yelled insanely and to my surprise he pulled a kunai out of nowhere. Just like a dance he twisted me in his arms and held the kunai against my neck. “If I can't have her, nobody can have her.” He threatened the Kazekage.
`What! Where did he get that kunai from? He isn't a ninja!' I yelled in my head. I was death-frightened, because Shori's voice had sounded serious. Gaara's sand twirled further in the room and clearly the blackhead's threat only pissed him more off.
“Shori, what are you doing!” Keiko screamed frightened and started to walk up to us.
“Shori…” I tried to reach my attacker, but he was too far gone in his own world. I saw Gaara's eyes slid to older woman present.
“Shori, dispose of that at once! You don't want to upset the Kazekage!” His sister ordered while trying to seize the kunai with her hand. Shori was clearly surprised with this movement and attacked her.
This was where Gaara had been waiting for and his sand quickly shot between me and my capturer. Once freed, I rushed to the redhead and flew in his arms. Gaara's arms tightened possessively around me and pushed me entirely against him.
“Shizuka.” I heard him mumble relieved and a smile formed itself on my lips. When I turned my head to the scene behind me I saw Shori looking furious at me, caught in sand. While next to him Keiko was laying on the ground with a large cut on her cheek, where blood was poured out. She looked shocked at her brother, mumbling his name over and over again.
