Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Loveless Suna ❯ Chapter 48
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Sorry for the late update, but I'm so busy with school and we'll just my life. I even had exams and today got my last results, I passed them all. Which was a miracle since we didn't had a lot of time to study.
Thanks for reviewing:
Sol aka blackleaff: Yeah, I know what you mean and I'm really glad to hear that, it was the point for my readers to picture themselves as Shizuka. Hope next chapter is also to your liking. Ps. You're English isn't bad ;P.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or make money from this.
The back of my head was the first thing that made me aware of the fact that I was awake and still alive. It also reminded me of what had happened and all my senses, except my eyes, were on full alert in a second. I felt a cold surface underneath me and my right hand hung over the edge, giving me the impression that the surface wasn't big, just enough to contain one person. A passage of wind announced someone had walked towards me and cold hands raised my shirt before touching my stomach. I shrunk a little back and the hand retreated.
“You're awake.” It was a statement not a question. I decided to play dumb a little longer, but the woman, it had been a woman's voice, didn't buy it. “Hakujo-san, could you wake up our `guest'.” I definitely didn't like the way she said guest, but before I could dig deeper for the real meaning my arm was being twisted and I screamed. Opening my eyes at last I glared at Hakujo and to my surprise I recognized the ANBU. He wasn't wearing his mask anymore, instead it hung loosely around his neck but he still was wearing his uniform. Ignoring me completely he strapped my arm against the table. I hadn't even noticed I was strapped down, I felt completely numb, except for my arm.
“Shizuka-sama.” Another voice, but this one I recognized.
“Eho.” I stated. `Has she found out?' I questioned. “What do you want with me?”
“Who would have guessed…” The woman finally came into view, “that there would be a little Uchiha running around right before my eyes.” My eyes widened.
`She knows! How?!' She smirked reading my question in my eyes.
“The Katon…” Now my eyes narrowed.
`That shouldn't be a give away.'
“I couldn't understand why a prick like that Sasuke guy would teach you his family jutsu. First I thought maybe you had wiggled you're way into his life like you did with the Kazekage, but…”
`Who does she think I am? A whore?' I glared at her as she seemed to be reflecting on what she had just said.
“You're close…,but not romantically.” Now I raised my eyebrows in surprise. “I'm an observing woman, unlike the Kazekage.” She tried to show off her superiority to Gaara. “But that made me even more curious, you got close to the one man whose an expert in keeping everyone at bay.” I decided to glare at her again. “Then I found it, your chakra, you have Uchiha chakra.” She looked triumphantly at me. “One of your ancestors must have been an Uchiha and the chakra has resurfaces in you. Sadly enough you miss the sharingan-gene.” She really found it sad and I didn't know if that was a good thing or not. “But don't worry, I'll make you complete.”
“Don't bother.” I answered sarcastically, but she ignored me. Now another woman appeared on my other side.
“She's conscious enough, we can start with the procedure.”
“What!” I yelled looking from the woman, who seemed to be a doctor, to Eho.
“We'll continue with our procedure.” She smiled while patting on my stomach.
“What?! What did you do?!” I yelled scared, trying to wiggle a little. I noted that I was feeling less numb, but it wasn't enough to put up a real fight.
“Don't worry, you'll be back out in no time.” The doctor was filling a needle.
“Then why the hell wake me up in the first place?” I yelled hysterical. They would still do it, but hey, then at least I didn't know.
“What were about to do is delicate and too much anestheticum would make it hard to see the reaction.” The doctor explained while brushing with her fingers over my abdomen. I freaked out when I felt them slid over what seemed stitches.
“What did you do to me?!” Eho rolled her eyes, but finally started with explaining.
“Well, we took some of your ovules…”
“What?!” I screamed now.
“And we've been trying to insert the sharingan-gene in them.” My eyes were know the size of the moon.
“I succeeded.” The doctor continued not letting her partner walk away with her accomplishment. “Now I'm going to insert the gene in all of your ovules.”
“You're insane… What's good about a foetus with the gene. You would have to wait years for you're little ninja to grow up.” Now Eho started laughing like a lunatic.
“That's the best you can come up with?” I looked carefully from her back to the doctor.
“The DNA in an ovule isn't complete…” The medic looked me in the eye for a moment to make sure I followed. “We put the sharingan-gene in it and inject the part we need in the acceptor's eyes.” I frowned.
`Like that would work.' She smirked, she could tell what I was thinking.
“We inactivate the right allele and replace it with the allele of the sharingan.”
`Is that even possible?' I questioned “But that still doesn't guarantee that the allele will be dominant.” I retorted remembering what I had learned in biology.
“That's were you come in. In someone with Uchiha chakra the allele will become dominant. “ Involuntary I remembered what Gaara had told me: `…having Uchiha chakra gives you an advantage.' There was only one thing I didn't understand and I'll admit that I was too curious not to put all the pieces together.
“Why do you need my ovules, couldn't you just insert the gene?”
“An ovule doesn't have a blood group and gets more accepted when it comes to the immunity.” Suddenly I felt a prick and I had to bite my tongue not the scream. She wasn't being considerate of me at all. It hurt even more when she injected the liquid, it felt like the pressure was ripping me apart. I didn't even noticed the needle getting pulled out and it took a little while for me to feel the chakra she was pouring inside me. As she got deeper the pain of the pressure was dying but a small fire seemed to arise.
“What's wrong?” Eho pulled my attention.
“My chakra has trouble penetrating… it's like something is keeping me out.” The doctor frowned and stopped her attempt. She shook her arms loose before raising her hands over my stomach again. I could feel she was pouring everything she had in me and the fire was raging fiercely. I couldn't hold still anymore, I lost the little strength I had build with struggling. It seemed to take hours but finally she stopped. “That… should do it.” She panted while holding my leg to support herself.
“Should it be hurting this much?” Eho asked with worry in her voice as she saw the next set of tears roll over my cheeks. My hands were bolded and I had almost broken the skin of my under lip to keep in my screams.
“No…” The doctor couldn't explain what was happening to me. I pressed my eyes close trying to concentrate on anything except the fire that was tearing me up inside. After a while I noted the pain was fading, then I realized it wasn't the pain but my conscious that was fading to a place where the fire couldn't reach me. A last time I opened my eyes and saw the doctor standing over me with another needle.

Again I woke up on the surgery table and through my eyelashes I saw the doctor had taken blood from me. She walked out of my view to research it and I closed my eyes again. I don't know how long it took since I sort of fell asleep again still under the influents of the anestheticum, but suddenly the doctor was celebrating. Eho joined her just as suddenly and I opened my eyes again. My mind was still in a drowsy state as I tried to take in what was happening around me.
“How long will it take to isolate the right part?” Eho asked. The doctor needed a couple of hours minimum and quickly continued her work. As the sedative was losing it's effect my mind was starting to catch up.
`They've done it!' I realized and looked shocked at the ceiling. `My kids are going to have the sharingan! Wait…' My realization continued, `there'll never be kids, they're going to use my ovules to create… some… sharingan army.' Now I was starting to panic. With such an army Eho could probably run over Suna. `This could lead to Gaara's end!' My eyes closed again praying that wouldn't happen. `But I'll probably wouldn't be around to see that. They'll kill me the moment they don't need me anymore.' With a scared look I opened my eyes again.
The hours turned into days and I was certain I should have been dead already but thanked Kami more than once I wasn't. Hakujo had been gone for a couple of days, making that most of the time I was alone with the doctor. At first, when I noticed her work was going to take longer than expected, I tried to get her to talk but she ignored me until I was so irritating she threatened to anaesthetize me again. I knew she wanted me to be awake because I was a precious lab rat and she probably didn't want to lose more sedatives on me, they were expensive. Sighing I walked around stiffly. I did got her so far to let me stretch my legs… with ninja wires, courtesy of Hakujo, around my right ankle.
`If Hakujo get delayed…' I was planning, `the wires dissolve…' I looked around to the only door in the room. `If I run I should be able to make it.' I braced myself, not knowing when the wires were going to break or when Hakujo would come back. Luck wasn't on my side. Hakujo was back before the wires had even lost a little bit of their strength. Without a care he picked me up and strapped me on the surgery table again. Days passed and every day Hakujo left for a couple of hours. I was curious about where he went to and just what he was doing, but I wasn't going to ask. Sometimes Eho showed up but she left almost immediately when she found out the doctor hadn't succeeded yet. But I knew, I could see it in her reactions, she was getting closer each day and my life was running out of time. Then that day came, the day I had been dreading, she did it, she succeeded and now the only thing I could do was stare blankly at the ceiling.
“We need to test it.” The doctor informed Eho, who was looking at the test tube like it was the love of her life. Slowly she turned away from her new love and looked at me with a creepy smile.
“She'll do!”

Maybe interesting: Hakujo means heartless.
