I know it's been really long, but school has been insane. We barely had time to study for our exams, but today was the last one... FINALLY. I think passed them... at least I hope so.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or make money from this.
“We need to test it.” The doctor informed Eho, who was looking at the test tube like it was the love of her life. Slowly she turned away from her new love and looked at me with a creepy smile.
“She'll do!”
My eyes widened as Eho approached me and I started to wiggle again. Now I wished today had been a day I had been allowed to walk around, but of course I was strapped down on that surgery table again. “I'll prepare the injection.” The doctor said holding her hand open for the test tube. A little against her will Eho gave up her love before turning back towards me with a big smile.
“Only a little longer.”
“Great!” I answered sarcastic while following the doctor with my eyes. Again she was standing before her lab and I relaxed my neck. The ceiling looked so tempting. I wished that the moment I turned my eyes from it, I would see Gaara's room and this all end up being a bad nightmare. Of course it didn't work I was still tied up on that stupid surgery table. Then my thoughts got interrupted by a sudden explosion and my eyes torn themselves quickly from the ceiling towards the door.
“So they finally made a move.” Eho muttered next to me while clenching her hands into fists. She turned to the doctor. “Continue!” And gone was she.
`They're here!' I was cheering in my mind but got interrupted by a small chuckle.
“Don't think they'll be standing here anytime soon. You're little buddies have been trying to break through our defenses for weeks.” Okay, that was a real dumper. She knew just what to say to ruin my new found hope. “Let's continue, shall we.” She smiled ignoring the fighting sounds that were penetrating the walls.
“Maybe they were just testing Hakujo.” I had quickly put his multiple disappearing together with the defenses she was talking about. I also suspected Dreadlock if he was still alive that is. The doctor hesitated only for a second, but it did made my hope grow.
“Well… whatever… they're too late!” Again my hope died as she raised the newly filled needle. I closed my eyelids and started to wiggle again, trying to make it impossible for her stab me. For a minute I thought it had worked when she laid it down again, but then she started to restrain my head. Now my wiggling wasn't working anymore and I felt horrified while the needle came closer and closer.
“No…stop!” I pleaded and tried to seal my eyes closed. She hadn't stabbed me yet but already it was like my body was burning. When the cold metal touched my skin the fire suddenly exploded inside me.
“W-what?!” The doctor squeaked and my eyes flew open.
`It… hurts!' was the only thing I could think about as my vision was starting to turn red. I looked at the only other person present for help but she was staring horror-struck at me. In the back of my mind I found it ironic but the pain didn't let me think that through. I couldn't sit still anymore and to my surprise the littlest movement made my restrains snap. Slumping down next to the surgery table I tried to control my thoughts as they were getting weirder and weirder. It was like there was another person inside me and she wanted to kill. I looked over to the doctor again and the beast inside was roaring for her blood. `She deserves it. She's planning on killing me!' My rational side was slipping deeper away as I crawled towards my prey. The fire inside grew with every step I took and only flared up even more when the doctor looked at her only escape. She was making herself ready to run for her life as I was making myself ready to take hers. The moment she moved I jumped but only scratched her as she lost her balance. I roared angry at her and looked her right in the eye. She was scared, scared to dead and I loved it.
Again I jumped and this time got my prey. I slashed her arm open, bit her, threw her through the lab like she was a ragdoll and I wasn't done yet. I could smell her blood and I wanted more. The fire grew again and I got ready for the final leap but got interrupted by the door that suddenly burst open. Angry I watched three persons run inside and stop dead in their tracks when they saw me. The female got my attention as she was saying something that was directed to me but then my prey moved. I moved the fire towards the doctor and pierced her abdomen. With her stuck, my attention turned back to the other three who had just entered my prey list. The first one to move was a male who sent paintings at me, but my fire scattered the ink all over the room without the slightest effort.
Then fire attacked fire, my fire got the upper hand of course, but overestimating yourself is never good and I learned my lesson the hard way when lighting shot through the fire and through my shoulder. Hissing in pain I tried to pull it out but only hurt my hand as a result. Growling the fire increased again and I felt victorious when the female shrieked. Using the fire I distracted my captor, but every move made the rob move in my shoulder and had me hiss in pain, but I ignored it for the greater picture. My attacker jumped up again to avoid my fire and then I threw my first prey at him. He hadn't seen that one coming. Shocked he flew through the room while the rob dissolved and I was free again. Enjoying my small win I looked at the remaining two and again the female was yelling something. Taunting I took a step towards them and like expected the male got into action again. He copied himself and moved his pawns so that he was surrounding me. Multiple paintings attacked me but again I dissolved them without any problem, but immediately the next group was coming towards me. One group dissolved and the next one was already on its way. It was getting annoying. Sneering I twirled around, making my fire long enough to hit the multiplied male and end this routine once and for all. One puffed away, two, three? My eyes widened.
`The real one?' My question got answered by a small earthquake underneath me. Not getting the time to confirm what was happening I was already flying through the air. Closing my eyes I prepared myself for the impact that was sure to come, but instead I felt myself rise a little before being laid down on the ground with my hands bounded.
`Sand?' Something in my mind wanted to come to the surface, but I ignored it and glared at the man who had just entered the battlefield. I tried to move but the sand restrains tightened, making my anger increase. Again something inside me yelled and I understood it wanted me to stop, but no way was I giving myself over just because my hands got caught. I forced the fire towards my hands and opened the shackles slowly. Then I felt a little spark on my left and quickly brought the fire towards it. The lighting guy could avoid it, but his attack had failed. I glared at him before turning back to the sandman.
`STOP' that thing inside me kept yelling. I shook my head trying to get rid of it but it kept coming with a vengeance. In my confusion this time I didn't sense the lighting guy and could only stare shocked at him when he pressed something on my forehead. When he landed gracefully he was already done with his hand signals and that voice in my head suddenly screamed. `STOP! GAARA! DON'T HURT GAARA!' My eyes widened as realization came to me and slowly the fire retreated inside of me.
“Shizuka!” The Kazekage was in front of me in a second and caught me as I fell forwards.
“Gaara…” I mumbled and finally recognized the others. “I'm sorry…” I apologized looking from one to another.
“Don't be, don't worry, everything's going to be fine.” Sakura reassured me with a smile while her hands started to heal my painful body.
-
I could feel my body going up and down with the movements of the one carrying me. I moaned still feeling sore as I hugged my carrier closer. I could recognize that smell everywhere.
“Are you in pain?” Gaara asked quietly while stopping and I could just imagine him looking at Sakura demanding her to do a check up. As on cue I felt her healing chakra scan my body.
“A little.” I finally took the time to answer and slowly opened my eyes. “What happened?”
“…What do you remember?” The redhead asked instead which made me think as he started to walk again.
`I remembered the lab, that damn surgery table, Eho, the doctor and…' “Fire…” And then the memories of the fight came to the surface and I grimaced. “I'm sorry…”I apologized again and my eyes searched for Sasuke who had endured to most damage, but I didn't see him. “Where's Sasuke?”
“I'm here.” The Uchiha made his presence know from behind me as he caught up to us. I could clearly see a fresh scare on his cheek and felt even guiltier.
“Don't!” My daddy ordered me reading my face. “I should have known.” He shook his head disappointed with himself.
“How?” Sakura interrupted suspicious. She was starting to put things together and knew there was something between the two of us she was missing. I caught her glancing over at Gaara to see if he knew.
“It's… a long story.” Sasuke mumbled and dropped the subject like that. But of course Sakura wasn't going to let it go like that. She looked from the raven to me and back. I decided to just ignore her.
“Where are the others?” I asked remembering they had left with more people on this mission than where present.
“Kankuro was sent back to Suna to help Temari with replacing me.” Gaara answered also ignoring the looks the pink konoha-nin was giving us.
“Temari's taking a break from her wedding preparations?” I asked a little surprise and saw the redhead smirk.
“She's been ordering Shikamaru around to do that.” I smiled at that and closed my eyes again resting my head against his shoulder. “Kakashi, Honoo, Kaeda and Matsuri are transporting the prisoners.” He continued as I started to doze off again. I was almost asleep when we suddenly stopped. Confused I opened my eyes to ask if we were taking a break, but the words died in my lips when I saw unknown nins blocking our path. The three Konoha-nins moved around the Kazekage and me as the leader of the nins walked closer.
“I didn't believe it when they told me, but here you are. The Kazekage of Suna in the middle of our little country.”
`Nins from Earth.' I realized as I took in their symbol.
“Could we escort you to our capital?” The leader ordered. It may have been a question but no room for debating was in his voice. I squeezed Gaara closer realizing that his being here is causing a lot of trouble. Because of me Suna was now identified as the culprit behind the infiltration, just the thing that Gaara had been trying to avoid. Sai looked over to the Kazekage who nodded at him. The former ROOT-nin plastered a smile on his face.
“Please lead the way.”
