It's Easter vacation so I had time to finish this chapter. It's a little longer than normal.
Thanks for reviewing.
Camp-crystal-lake: Thanks I hope this one is also to your liking.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or make money from this.
Hopefully I looked up when someone entered the room, but it wasn't Gaara as I had hoped. “Sorry, it's just me.” Sakura apologized seeing my disappointed face.
“How much longer is it going to take?” I asked even when I knew she didn't have an answer.
“It's almost noon so they'll take a break soon.” She promised me but it didn't elevate my mood. We had been here in the capital of the earth country for two days already. And during those two days Gaara had done nothing than meet with the Tsuchikage. I knew he was doing everything in his power to settle down the situation, making sure that it doesn't lead to a war. I sighed and made a decision. I threw the sheets of me and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. “And what do you think you're doing?” The pink nin got into her doctor mode.
“I've been bedridden for two days. I'm going for a walk.” I made my decision known and saw her frown. “What?”
“The Kazekage had clearly stated that you can't leave this room.”
“He won't mind it if you accompany me.” I answered with a smile and she raised her eyebrow meaningful. “Okay, he'll still mind, but he really can't expect me to lie here all day. Let's find Sasuke and Sai.” I decided on my own. Sakura shook her head knowing the Kazekage wouldn't be happy with me but she also knew he would forgive me immediately when I was save in his arms again.
“They're probably in the garden… since that's the only place where allowed outside.” She muttered the end, but I still heard it. We were confined to the Tsuchikage's tower, if we set one foot outside we would be considered spies, the Tsuchikage had announced `friendly' when we just arrived.
“So, Sai?” I started as we left the room Gaara and I were staying in.
“What about him?” Sakura answered irritated.
“Did something happen?” She rolled her eyes.
“Yesterday, he gave me the inside scoop of latex green jumpsuits.”
“What?” I asked confused.
“He's been saying that if I want Lee back I should show some interest in the things he likes.” I gave her a look full disbelieve.
“He still thinks you like Lee?” She looks a little suspicious at me.
“Why does it seem that you know everything already?” I smiled apologizing and scratched the back of my head.
“Well, it's kind of obvious you like Sai.” In less than a second Sakura looked as red as a tomato.
“What are you talking about?”
“Oh come on, don't deny it!” I yelled. She gave me a last denying look before giving up.
“Fine, I like him, not that anything is ever going to happen between us.”
“Don't say that.” She gave me a sad look.
“He just needs a little push in the right direction.” I assured her as we entered the garden. It still surprised me how beautiful it actually was. We found the two ravens not far from each other. Sai was drawing the beauty before him as Sasuke was lying in the grass not far away from him. “Sasuke, Sai!” I speeded up and sat down next to daddy. The Uchiha straightened himself and nodded to Sakura as Sai smiled at me. Then he turned towards me, looking me up and down.
“You look better.” Sakura shook her head knowing where this was leading too and walked over to her crush.
“Well, yeah, when you don't visit me, I'm going to look better.” I accused him. It wasn't that he hadn't visit me at all, but he always accompanied somebody else and disappeared immediately afterwards. We haven't had a moment alone and I had so much to ask him. Nobody wanted to tell just what had happened to me a couple of days ago. I had my suspicions of course. `The cursed seal or Kyuubi.' I've checked my whole body but there wasn't a seal anywhere and when I retreated inside myself I've found nothing but my own thoughts, not a trace of Kyuubi.
“I've visit.” Sasuke defended himself.
“When someone dragged you with them.” The black orbs looked apologizing at me. He sighed and leaned towards me.
“its dangerous being near me. If someone here figures out you have my chakra the whole thing can happen again.” My eyes widened surprised. “Not to forget they must have felt the strong chakra you emitted when you…” Now I turned my face to him.
“What did I do? What was it…?” He silenced me by laying his finger on my lips.
“This isn't something we should talk about in an enemy's country.” He straightened himself again and got up.
“But, wait!” He turned back to me and I pointed to my shoulder before pointing to my stomach. Sasuke looked confused at me but then he got it and sighed. He stepped towards me again and laid his hand on my stomach. `Kyuubi!' I thought and looked surprised as he kept coming closer. His other hand sneaked around my waist and he pulled me closer.
“We have company.” He whispered in my ear as he caressed my hair locks from my neck. “The chakra seems to be present in every cell of your body.” He continued refusing to say the demon's name and I could feel his lips move against my skin. My heart was accelerating insanely as I stood frozen in place. This was something I never expected from Sasuke and I didn't know how to react. “When I pinch you, push me away and slap me.” He whispered and the hand in my back moved to my butt. When he pinch my butt cheek I finally found the strength in my muscles again and kneed him in the crotch as reflex. The hand on my stomach had just been able to catch my knee but he did shrink a little. “I'm glad you're capable of protecting yourself.” He muttered with a high voice before walking backwards shaking a little.
“Good girl! That'll teach you, Sasuke!” Sakura ran towards me and threw her arm around my shoulders. “The Kazekage is going to kill us!” She hissed angry at me.
“But Sasuke…” I didn't want her to think the wrong thing but she ignored me and pulled me with her. “Sakura…” I tried again but she signed that I had to keep my mouth shut. She practically pushed me in my room and I forgot everything as I saw Gaara standing before me. I immediately ran into his arms which he had already opened for me. With him wrapped around me I felt so safe.
“That was some display.” He said and I looked up thinking he was talking to me, but his eyes were directed to Sakura.
“I'm sorry, I shouldn't have let her leave.” Confused I hoped my mouth.
“What Sasuke did wasn't Sakura's fault!” Now the ocean-green eyes looked confused at me.
“The Uchiha did quick thinking, I have no problem with that, but you shouldn't have been there!” He made clear and I let an `oh' pass my lips.
“Sorry, I forced her.” I apologized. “But you're okay with what Sasuke did?” Now I was confused.
“The Tsuchikage and I were just walking by when you yelled him to wait. It sparked the Tsuchikage's interest. The Uchiha noticed it and reacted.” My eyes widened surprised.
“So now the Tsuchikage thinks there's something between Sasuke and me?”
“Yes, and he won't look closer.” Gaara nodded while pulling me closer just as the raven had done before. My hair got pushed backwards again and lips were on my neck before I even comprehended the situation.
“I'm… going!” Sakura giggled and skipped out of the room.
“But I so wanted to crush him.” Gaara mumbled against my skin and I couldn't help but smile. That was what I wanted to hear. He attached his lips to mine and I melted into him. Much too soon did he release me again. “The Tsuchikage invited us to lunch.”
“Me as well?” I asked surprised. The Tsuchikage hadn't shown any interest in me since we arrived here.
“You're little display earlier made him interested.” The redhead groaned displeased.
“We better get ready then.” I gave him a last kiss and turned around to the bathroom. “Are you coming?” I asked when I noticed he wasn't following. With a grimace he started moving towards me.
-
“Finally I get to meet the wonderful Shizuka-chan.” The Tsuchikage took my hand in his and planted a kiss on the back.
“Nice to meet you, Tsuchikage-sama.” I answered politely while forcing a smile.
“Sit down.” He invited us while moving around the table. “I hope you're doing well, Shizuka-chan.” He continued talking to me.
“Yes, all better.” I kept smiling while Gaara held my chair. Only when he got a questioning look from our host, he sat down himself and shoved his chair closer to mine so he could lay his arm around me on the chair. I couldn't help but glance oddly at him. He was acting weird.
“I'm glad to hear that. I guessed so from what I saw earlier.” My cheeks turned red as I glanced at the table. “I must say you do attract the most powerful men, don't you?” I looked up again while my eyes widened.
“N-not really.” I stuttered embarrassed. What was this guy thinking of me?
“You better be careful, Kazekage-sama, someone might steal her away from you.” He was laughing but his eyes held a hint of something I couldn't identify. Gaara's arm tightened around me and I was starting to get why he was acting weird. He was being possessive.
`Why are those two acting like I'm some object?' I pouted but decided to humor my redhead and leaned against him. I got a small smile which the Tsuchikage missed because of a ninja who was suddenly standing next to him. I noticed the mask the nin was carrying and guessed he was an ANBU.
“It seems my oldest daughter is just back from her mission. Do you mind if she joins us?” Surprised I looked at Gaara.
`I didn't know there was a daughter.' Were my eyes saying and the blue-green eyes sent back that he didn't want me to know. I frowned at his response and watched how a woman wearing a kimono entered the room. I immediately got aware of how beautiful she was and couldn't help but notice she looked like me. She was like a gorgeous version of… me. She walked over with a big smile on her face, gave her father a kiss on the cheek and bowed politely at Gaara and me.
“It's good to see you again, Kazekage-sama.” Her smile got more radiating when my redhead greeted her back.
“You look well, Shizi-san. Let me introduce you to Shizuka-chan.” I felt victorious when her smile finally faltered a little.
“Nice to meet you.” I said quickly beating her to the punch and slightly bowed my head. She forced her smile back on and sat down on the other side of Gaara.
“I was surprised to hear you're here. How long are you staying?” Shizi directed her full attention at the Kazekage while slowly twirling a lock of hair around her finger.
“Only as long as necessary.” He answered glancing at her father while his hand started to play with the hair on my neck.
“And why are you here?” She continued trying hard to ignore my present.
“He came to hand over a prisoner.” The Tsuchikage answered for the Kazekage. With widening eyes I turned my head to look at Gaara, who nodded after a small pause. Was that it? Was that what they had been debating for days? The Tsuchikage wanted Eho. Why? I tried to get my head around it the entire lunch but just didn't get it. My redhead didn't like that I wasn't mentally present a lot. Unlike Shizi, she took every change she had to talk to the Kazekage which I didn't like but I couldn't make a scene so kept thinking about Eho as distraction.
-
When we finally reached our room Gaara dropped on the bed, closed his eyes with his arms open as an invitation. I accepted it and crawled next to him. He didn't seem to be in the mood to talk, but I wanted some answers. “Why does he want Eho?” I asked first.
“He wants her to pay for her father crimes.”
“That isn't so bad.”
“Except we won't see her again.”
“What do you mean?” I raised my upper body and supported myself in my elbow to be able to see his face.
“She'll be imprisoned here for years and knowing her she'll find a way not to come back to Suna.” He still hadn't opened his eyes.
“Would she have a chance of getting out earlier?”
“Probably, it are her father's crimes not hers.”
“And they wouldn't tell us.” I continued and my redhead nodded once. Now I understood why they had been debating about this for so long. Gaara would never let Eho go free, she had to pay for her crimes. Not to forget that she would probably try to overrun the Kazekage again. Now it was time for the second subject.
“So, how do you know Shizi-san?” I tried to ask casual. Finally Gaara opened his eyes, he had seem too been waiting for this question.
“We dated.” My eyes widened shocked this wasn't what I expected.
“W-what?!” He kept looking at me, reading my reaction. “What… happened?” I composed myself but I was certain my feelings were showing on my face. I straightened myself and sat down on my knees to keep myself better in check.
“I cheated and she caught me eventually.” He closed his eyes again, having seen what he wanted.
“Eventually?! Just how many times did you cheat on her?” One eye opened again and a smirk formed on his face.
“You really want to know?” I pouted not wanting to give an answer. The smirk turned into a real smile and he pulled me back down on his chest. “That's all in the past.” With his arms tightly around me he kissed my hair.
“You're the…” I looked up when he stopped in the middle of his sentence.
“I'm the?” I asked but he just smiled and shook his head. “Gaara!” I demanded him to say it. I had a pretty good idea what he had almost said. “You're still thinking about that stupid challenge we made?” I muttered and the smile turned back into a smirk.
“The prize is just so…” I hit his chest playfully before laying my head down on it again.
“Well, at least you're not planning on `punishing' me anymore.” I said after a small pause.
“Sorry about that, I was...”
“Insane!” I continued for him.
“Yeah…” Came out really quietly while he hugged me closer and kiss the top of my head again.
Stephke23: Kyuubi's chakra is present in Shizuka, but like with Sora it was hidden. And in comes the ex, I've been thinking about inserting the one Gaara would end up with if Shizuka wasn't there. R&R
