….this is a bit from the last chapter since I had to cut it short for Halloween. It's going to be a bit short. Review shout outs are at the end. I'm not doing the sneak peeks to the next chapter anymore since marie and the naruto characters had a disagreement on who should narrate. They had an all out fight…no one won.

 

Shoga growled and stated strangling muko and shaking him.

“You friggin' idiot! I told you not to touch her! Shoji told you not to touch her! And what do you do?! You nearly kill her! Why the heck did you do that! We're in the dog house now!”

Rin shrugged her shoulders. “Well, what do we do now? Shoji-sama is going to have a fit if he finds out that we hurt his precious girl.”

Youko held up one finger and smiled. “You mean `IF' he find out.”

Renji hits Youko on the head. “Not now, Youko.”

Ryuu “Wait. I think Youko is on to something. We don't have to tell shoji-sama right away that muko accidentally hit marie with the scorpion. We'll have to say that while fighting she got in the way.”

Renji spoke up and asked in an unbelievable tone. “Do you really think that will work?”

Rin “Yeah, bro. you know that shoji has that evil physic crap. You can't keep secrets from him.”

Ryuu “well it's not like he was expecting her anytime soon anyway. We'll wait a little longer until we can make our move.”

Shoji lets go of muko and crossed his arms. “It really ticks me off. Why does shoji-sama get marie. Has he met her in a past?”

Youko smiles and points to the computer screen. “I guess we'll find out in this flashback. It's going to be marie's point of view now and our time is up.”

Rin, muko, and Shoga glue themselves on the computer screen.

“What?! Our turn is over?! You never let us have our turn! It's all about the heroes!”

(Age 9)

I don't think I ever felt this bad since I drank that awful antidote that old lady from the land of waves gave me. That stuff was putrid…where am I now…?

 

Marie's face was flushed red. She was breathing slightly and shallowly. She had a wash cloth over her face and the covers brought to her chin and she was sleeping soundly.

Shoji quietly approached her bed and removed the wash cloth. Marie opened her eyes slightly. “S-shoji?”

When I opened my eyes, the person who really cared about me was there.

Shoji placed his forehead against marie's forehead. Marie blushes bright red.

“Don't. You'll catch my cold.”

Shoji chuckled. “Heh. I'll be all right. You still have a high fever.”

Shoji pulled back and stroke her face.

“I'm sorry for waking you, sleep a little bit more.”

Marie shook her head. “I'm worried that if I fall asleep, you'll disappear again, shoji. You did it so many times before shoji…every time my papa yelled and every time shino came over to visit.”

“If you won't sleep, I'll leave.” He stood up.

Marie sat up and grabbed his arm with her shaking hands.

“No! I'll sleep! Please stay with me…”

We never get to play together a lot. You're the only friend I have in this horrible place.

Shoji crouched at the side of her bed. “Then close your eyes and don't make me worry. When I heard that you collapsed with a high fever I got scared for a moment.”

Marie laid down and closed her eyes slightly. “Really?”

“Really” he assured.

Even though you say so, when I open my eyes I know you'll be gone. You're always leaving me...it's like you're never really here…an imagination of mine.

“Shoji…I don't want you to leave so I'll hold your hand.” She said softly and held his small hand and went to sleep. Shoji smiled sadly.

Once she was sleeping long enough he slipped his small hand from hers and left. On the way out he ran into shino who was visiting with the other kids that come to the Takemina clan's mansion to play.

“She's sick right now and sleeping. Don't wake her up.” Shoji told him before disappearing down the dark hallway. Little shino didn't say anything and went to her door and peeked inside. He could see that she was asleep so he didn't disturb her. Instead he closed the door and sat in front of it silently.

Moments later marie woke up inside of her room. She looked at her hand and around her to see that shoji is gone. She climbed out of bed and went to the door. She opened it slowing and found shino still sitting there.

Shino turned to face her, trying to hide the worry on his face.

“What are you doing here?”

Shino turned to face her but then turned away and said silently before leaving.

“Nothing.”

Marie watched as he walked away and outside where she could hear the other children playing. She knelled down where shino was sitting. “The floor is warm…”

 

Again…I guess a person I really cared about was there, shoji and shino.

Why am I having such a random dream from the past…like the last one when I first met shoji…why is all of this happening?

Marie could feel something being place on her forehead and something cover her up.

“So how is she, sakura?!” naruto yelled again.

“Well…her arm is okay, but she won't have to use her leg for a while since that poison from the scorpion took its tool on her leg. It's not permanent or anything, it'll recover in time. She has a few cuts and bruises and she'll be in pain for awhile.”

Kiba scoffs. “If I know her as well as I think I do and if she has the same stubbornness as naruto, then I wouldn't worry. She'll be up in no time.”

Marie sat up and growled. “You know I'm sitting right here. Do you have to be so loud?”

Naruto “How can you expect us to be so quiet? What you did was awesome!”

Sakura smiled and nodded. “You seriously pulled a naruto back there.”

Marie shrugged her shoulders. “Hey. It was an act of good wasn't it?” then she remembered something. Shino! She passed out. “Hey. How's shino?”

Kiba pointed to the back of the room. There he was all alone in the back. He excused himself from the room so no one could see his red face.

Kiba snickers at shino's behavior. “You wouldn't believe how worried he was. He kept mumbling about something.”

Naruto commented “Yeah. It was kind of weird.”

Marie thought about it for a while and shrugged it off. She looks around the room and saw some unfamiliar faces in the room. “Who are all these people?”

Sakura smiles. “That's right. Neji told us that you kind don't know the outside world.”

Marie glares at neji. “Did you have to say it like that?”

Naruto waves his arms. “Let me introduce my team! That's our sensei Kakashi Hatake.”

Kakashi puts down his book and gives a small wave. “The cute girl next to you is Sakura Haruno; she's the one who healed you.” Sakura smiles at her.

Neji steps up. “My teammates are: Tenten, rock lee, and our sensei Might Guy.”

Tenten smiles and waves while Rock lee and Might Guy gave her a thumbs up and said, “Let the power of youth explode!” Everyone groans in annoyance.

Kurenai steps up. “You already know who we are but who wants to feel left out? I'm Kurenai-sensei of squad 8. There's hinata, kiba and akamaru, and shino.”

New voices entered the room. Ino comes in with flowers. “Hello! Don't forget the Ino-Shika-Cho!” Ino hands Marie the bouquet of flowers. “I'm Ino; we haven't met yet, but let's make one thing clear. Sasuke is mine.” Sakura pushes ino out the way.

“Back off, Ino-Pig!! Sasuke is mine!”

Everyone ignored them. Shikamaru rubs his neck. “This is such a drag to say but, hey, I'm Shikamaru. Heard about what you did out there and I have to say I'm impressed.”

Choji stood next to shikmaru. “Hey, I'm Choji. That's our sensei Asuma.”

Marie smiles at everyone. “Hello. It's nice to meet everybody. I'm…”

Tenten cuts her off. “You're Marie Takemina, we know. Hinata, kiba, naruto, neji, and shino told us all about you. Everyday was something new.”

Marie blushes in embarrassment. “I'm not that great. I'll admit that I have a big ego.”
Kiba and naruto points at her and said in unison. “Ain't that the truth?!”

Marie turns red with anger. “I admitted it, didn't I?”

Everyone in the room laughed at the couple.

This is so nice…I meet a lot of new people and probably made some new friends.

 

(Outside the hospital, Lady Tsunade, Mr. and Mrs. Aburame, Mr. and Mrs. Takemina)

 

“We've had enough of this. Marie has been disobedient and look at what has happened to her! She hasn't been doing her duties as an heiress to our clan! I can't stand it anymore!”

Mrs. Takemina calmly says to them. “Do you ever hear yourselves when you talk? She doesn't want the life that you laid out for her. She already decided to follow her own ninja path. She doesn't want to get married and have children! It's too early for you to decide something like that for her.” Mr. Aburame holds a hand in front of her.

Mr. Takemina shouts, “That girl doesn't have a shred of guilt! Why should she be allowed to have such freedom?! Because of her, everyone in our clan thinks its okay to break certain traditions! It's her fault that everything is falling apart!”

Mr. Aburame cuts him off. “It's your fault you know…I remember the old marie when she was young. She was a very sweet child who was carefree like the other children that she played with. Now she would stop hearing things she didn't want to hear. From what we're all seeing now…she's changing. She rising above the Takemina clan and starting to grow into a fine female ninja.”

Tsunade smirks. “That's right. No one in the Takemina clan is a ninja. Marie just might be the first. Maybe it's time that you two grow up too. You're so eager to blame and order your own daughter to be something that she's not…no matter what you say or what you do…she's not going to listen anymore. Sure she'll cry but she has friends now who will be there for her.”

Mrs. Takemina smiles to see the hokage on their side. “We'll be more than happy to have marie live with us. We don't care if the Takemina clan is against this.”

Mr. Aburame made his final statement. “You, who cannot have a heart of a parent, would never understand.”

Mrs. Takemina shook her fists in rage. “Fine. If that's how you all want it, let me say a few things to her before we settle anything.”

Everyone gave a silent tense nod before walking into the main lobby. They see marie chatting happily with everyone who came to visit her. She had naruto and kiba carry the gifts that everyone brought for her as punishment for teasing her. She signed out and got ready to leave. But stopped when she saw her parents and shino's parents with the hokage and they did not look too happy.

“Mom. Dad. Lady Tsunade…” Marie said nervously.

Naruto asked rudely. “What's going on? Why are they here?”

Sakura hissed and hits naruto in the head. “Quiet, naruto!”

Marie sighed and said sadly. “Uh…I know what you guys are going say so I'm going to go home and wait for what punishment you're going to give me.”

Mrs. Takemina said coldly, “It's fine. You don't have to come home anymore. You can go somewhere else…where our clan won't see your disgraceful face anymore. Because we can't love you anymore. I don't know how to love you anymore.”

Those words pierced her heart. To hear your own mother say that to her child…it hurts.

Marie dropped the flowers that she was holding and everyone around her gaped at her mother and father. Naruto said silently that almost no one could hear.

“Do parents always say that to their kids? If we hear that from our parents, what are we suppose to do?! How can you say stuff like that?! She just wants to do what she wants! It's not her fault!! Why don't you support her dreams like a normal parent?!!”

Marie slowly turns to naruto. “N-naruto…”

Kiba looked shocked for a moment then joined in. “Naruto's right! You better take back what you said and apologize!”

Everyone nods in agreement and chipped in their comments as well. Both Takemina scoffed at them and walked away. Marie slumps on the floor. “Thank you everyone but… What am I suppose to do now? They kicked me out…”

Hinata smiled sadly and kneels besides her. “It's okay. I'm sure we can figure something out. I'll help you.”

Marie smiles sadly as hinata help her up. “Thank you…”

Tsunade walks up to them. “You don't have to worry about anything, marie. We already planned everything. The Aburame clan has discussed it and they would be happy to have you staying with them.”

Marie looks at them. “Really? But I don't want to be a burden so I'll stay only for a while and stay at an apartment or something…” she said shyly.

Mrs. Aburame smiles and waved her hand. “Nonsense. You could be the daughter I always wanted. Like tsunade said. Don't worry about a thing. We'll take care of you.”

Everyone gave an encouraging nod. Marie smiles tearfully and looks at the ground. Seeing this, naruto panics thinking she's in pain. Sakura reassures him telling him that she's so happy that she's crying.

 

(Marie's POV)

I waved good-bye to everyone that visited her at the hospital before following the three Aburame's to the Aburame complex. I was a little nervous about going, but I thought it should be okay since they've been so nice to me in the past. But I still can't help but think about the rest of the aburame clan. They said that they accepted me to live with them, but do they really? Did they just take pity on me and they still hate me because I'm a Takemina? I mentally shook my head. I have to think positive! Shino is somewhat of a teammate since I don't have a team of my own…

(Since her clan is so…blah, blah, she was able to enter the chunin exams by herself)

…and I have to remember that kana is there, too. We became good friend's two chapters ago, so it'll be okay. But still! It's me versus a whole clan of Aburame!!

I stood behind shino while they opened the gates to the complex. We walked through the gardens to reach their part of the complex. I looked around and saw some aburame children practicing and playing. Most of them did look like shino.

Brown and black hair, glasses, and high collars and insects. So many insects… I guess I have to adjust. It looks like a jungle here if that's possible.

“Here we are! Home sweet home!” I heard Mrs. Aburame sang happily.

Mr. Aburame smiles at me. “Make yourself at home and comfortable. If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask.”

I nod shyly. Obliviously I'm still not use to the idea of living with shino and the others. Speaking of others…

“SHINO!” I heard a very familiar voice sang at the entrance where we take off our shoes.

I could feel shino tension next to me and let's face it. I was too! It's Kana!

Kana giggles and hugs him tight. “Welcome Home My Shino!!”

Mr. and Mrs. Aburame were smiling happily at them and I was standing there, not exactly sure how to react. After all that was done we settled into the living room and had some tea and snacks.

“What brings you here, kana?” Mr. Aburame asks as he sipped his tea.

“Oh! I heard that marie was going to be staying with us, so I wanted to welcome her here and of course I wanted to see shino too since he's so busy with going on missions.” She said sweetly and squeezed into the little open space between me and shino.

“Welcome to the Aburame complex, marie! You and I are going to have so much fun together! Don't worry if you feel out of place here, I'll help you feel better!” She gave me a death grip hug causing my face to turn blue. “Choking! Not Breathing! Let go!”

Mr. Aburame chuckled at us. “With kana's strength I always wondered why she didn't become a ninja herself. I'm sure she would've given her opponents a hard time.”

Kana lets go of me. I looked at Mr. Aburame in question then back at kana who was hugging shino. “You mean you're not a ninja?”

Kana smiled and shook her head. “Nope. I don't think I could've handled it. I'm happy with the way I am though. If I had to be a ninja and take the chunin exams, I would've had to fight shino and I couldn't bear that, so I refused to be a ninja!”

I took a bite out of the cookies that Mrs. Aburame laid out for us. `What a waste…though I do agree with her, no way would I want to fight against shino…'

I finished my cookie and smiled. “My grandma makes cookies just like these!”

Shino gazed at me after pushing kana off of him. “Your Grandmother?”

I nodded, “Uh-huh. You met her before I think. `With age, comes wisdom' she would say all the time. She was some kind of medic Nin. She had a cure for any illness and she always gave out the right advice. I really do love her. She understood me.”

There was an awkward moment of silence. `Did I bring sown the mood or something?'

Mr. Aburame looked at the clock. “My, look how late it is. You two had a big day, so how about you turn in?” Kana left the room to talk to Mrs. Aburame and shino collected the dishes. I smelled my hair and arm and scrunched my face in disgust.

“Excuse me, could I use your bathroom and shower? I smell like that scorpion.”

“Sure thing. You remember where the bathroom is right?” he asked.

I nodded and went to the bathroom and bathed.

`So far I'm fitting in just fine with almost everyone here. Tomorrow will probably be a big day. I feel really grateful that they're letting me stay here and shino doesn't even like me that much! Hm…' I let my mind wonder off and I sunk deeper into the hot bath.

(Just picturing it makes me want to stop and take a bath.)

I began thinking about the scorpion attack. It was pretty random to have a scorpion like that attack the village and what that bone-head neji said has me thinking too. Maybe that cross-dressing idiot from the land of waves has something to do with it and those other guys too…but why would they be attacking me? I'm no one special…what is it? And the crystal balls that were stolen could they be the ones that stole it?'

I washed and drained the tub. I'm too tired to think anything through right now. I changed pajama's that kana let me borrowed and waited n the hallway. I heard footsteps coming up and saw shino still in his clothes.

“Are you going to stand there all night?” he asked me.

I would've been offended if I really cared, but right now, I just want to sleep like naruto.

“Do I sleep in a guest room or something?” I asked drowsily. My eyes are barely open.

I could feel him taking my hand and guided me down the hall and into a room. He gently sat me on the bed and stood there in front of me. I rubbed my eyes and yawned tiredly.

Taking a hot bath after a long day can do that to you. I fell asleep sitting up.

Sleepiness washed over me and I was completely out of it, so author is changing view.

(Shino's POV!! Never tried that one.)

I gently laid her down onto the bed and pulled the covers over her sleeping form. If she's anything like naruto and kiba, she will not be awaking up for a while. I could faintly hear her light snoring. I smirked at her and I admit that she looks beautiful in the moonlight. I only regret that I didn't protect her better. I slowly crouched down and lightly kissed her cheek and left the room quietly.

(End of shino's view)

 

Shoga glared daggers at shino. “Not good. He's after marie, too.”

Youko looks a Shoga with confusion on her face. “Huh? What are you talking about? He only gave her a good-night kiss. Not that big a deal.”

Renji mumbles. “He wants marie for himself too. How complicated. Shoji-sama loves marie, shino loves marie secretly, and Shoga has a small crush.”

Shoga stands up and glares at him. “Dammit! Don't you even start with me!”

Renji crosses his arms. “Huh. You fool. You're going to get yourself killed on day.”

Youko jumps in before Shoga could do anything. “Alright that's enough! Normally I would let you duke it out, but now is not the time. We need a new plan to get marie to join Shoji- sama's side. Any ideas?”

Silence.

Renji sighs “We better regroup.”

Everyone. I know the first chapter was too much like mulan. I know I typed it. Mulan was on Disney channel one time and my sister and I were looking at naruto mixed with Disney songs and I got a little idea on how to start my story. I won't bring mulan anymore.
