chapter 7- the truth comes out

Naruto blinked, unable to comprehend the meaning that the aged picture held, "What do you mean Tsunade-baba?"
Tsunade groaned a little, leaning back against her chair and rubbing her temples, trying to ward off the coming headache. Jiraiya, standing beside her, was also curious, having recognized the picture of his long gone student, who'd run away after the death of Yondaime.
"Yeah Tsunade, what is this all about?" He questioned.
Standing up slowly, as if the intensity of the situation was weighing down on her, and causing her to betray her young facade, Tsunade walked over to Naruto, who had now decided that he did not like the way things were going.
All around him, the people he cherished pondered the question, and found no answers. Only faintly did Kakashi recognize the woman, and thus was able to peace together the puzzle. Sakura, who already knew, sat quietly, watching the carpet, somber and silently. Iruka, sitting near Naruto, was in agreement with Naruto, fearing that the situation may be dire. Sasuke, on the other hand, could care less, and sat as such, a scowl on hisf ace, arms crossed. It was beyond him why he was needed for something that did not have anything, not even the faintest bit, to do with him.
"Naruto..." Tsunade plucked the picture from Naruto's hand and looked at it once more, eyes flashing to sadness as she trailed off.
"Naruto..." she tried again, "This woman was brought to me during the Kyuubi's attack, seventeen, very beautiful, and in labour..." She glanced at Kakashi, who only held her gaze for a split second before returning it to his book. Tsunade still remembered that day, how scarred the woman had been, and how her eyes shone with happiness as she held her child, whom she had already decided would be a handsome young man.
Naruto, confused already, looked at Sakura, as if she could offer an answer, then back at Tsunade, having gotten no answer from the kunoichi, who hadn't even bothered to look up at him, "I don't understand."
"This woman's name is Aza, and obviously, the man in the picture is Yondaime."
"Yeah, yeah, I know that." Naruto interrupted, nodding.
"As I was saying... Did you know that Yondaime had a child?"
Iruka glanced at the picture in Tsunade's hand, then at Naruto, and questioned, "Hokage-sama, the Yondaime had a child?"
"Yes Iruka, but... That child was born on the very day that the Kyuubi attacked."
At this, Iruka joined the group that knew of Naruto's heritage, and felt that a heritage linking to the Yondaime himself was only beffiting of Naruto.
Naruto pointed to the picture, "So that woman is Yondaime's wife?"
"No Naruto, she's not. They were never wed, although they intended to. When they found out she was pregnant, the Yondaime sent her to live with some one he trusted very much," Tsunade's amber eyes drifted over to Jiraiya before continuing, "some one that we all know."
"Who Tsunade-baba, who?"
Jiraiya spoke up from where he stood next to the window, "Aza was sent to me, she was a student of mine, just as the Yondaime was... She was, in a way, like my daughter."Naruto shook his head, "I still don't see how this ties to me."
Sasuke, having kept quiet for so long, suddenly scoffed. "Idiot."
"What'd you call me, teme?"
Sasuke rolled his eyes, "Isn't it obvious already why we're here?"
Sakura glanced up at Naruto, then looked over to Sasuke, knowing he would continue. All at once, Sasuke had become the center of attention, and all at once, the reason for gathering in the Hokage's office was known.
"She's your mother dobe, and Yondaime is your father."
Silence reigned in the room, and for once, even Naruto was without words, glancing back slowly at the picture...
