Chapter 4: Survival Exercise... we are so dead

 

"Otou-san?" She said in shock. Her dad was the strongest in her clan... if this... guy can beat him then she has no chance against him. Rayne ran in the streets trying to look for anyone alive, but all she ran into was the guy from before.

"Well, well, Rayne... now's it's time..." Rayne looked up at him, afraid and covered her eyes and when she didn't feel anything, she opened her eyes slowly to reveal that the man was holding his head in pain. Rayne stood up quietly, not wanting him to notice that she moved, and ran in a random direction.

"Rayne!" She heard from a head of her. She looked up to see her uncle and aunt waving for her to go to them and she went. When she got there though, they gave Rayne a little bundle and were killed along right after, in front of Rayne. She gasp and when their bodies fell, the man from before was there. Only this time, his yellow eye stood out from the bloody background, red sky and awfully pale face of his. Rayne put her brother down behind the boxes before he can see what she did. There were a moment of silence, but they can hear the cries in the background where the other village shinobis are fighting the nine-tail fox.

"Now now Rayne... just come with me and you and your brother won't be killed." The man said and started reaching for her. he grabbed her neck and she started screaming trying to take his hand off then she-

"RAYNE-CHAN!" Rayne woke up bumping her head on something hard. She groan rubbing her head in pain.

"Wh...wha?" She asked still in a daze. She glanced of to her side just to see a fallen Naruto on the floor. "Naruto? What are you doing here at this time? It's only... already 5 AM!" Rayne said getting up quickly and rushing to the bathroom. When she came out she saw got dress and saw Naruto in the kitchen, waiting.

"So, what are you doing in my house?"

"I heard you screaming Ray-nee-chan..." Naruto said looking at her confused. "Why were you screaming?" Rayne became pale and turned around to get her ninja gear and came back.

"I've just been having dreams... that's all..." She said and started to leave with Naruto following.

"What kind of dreams?" Naruto asked

"None of your business kind of dreams. Come on, we're gonna be late" Rayne said speed walking with Naruto running trying to catch up and still trying to figure out what Rayne's dream was about. When they got there, they saw Sasuke and Sakura already there and waiting. Sakura looked at the two curiously.

"Are you two going out?" She asked. Naruto and Rayne froze and Sasuke stiffen.

"No!" Naruto shouted. "Why would I want to go out with Ray-nee-chan?! That's just... just WRONG!!! No!!" Naruto said running around.

"We live on the same block pinkie." Rayne said to Sakura with a grunt. "We're NOT going out." she then looked around and noticed that Kakashi wasn't there yet. "Where's sensei?"

"Not here." Sasuke answered. She nodded and sat under the tree, thinking about her dream then soon dozed off into slumber. Soon she woke up from hearing something or someone sitting down next to her. She looked to her left and saw Sasuke. She nodded to him and turn to see her other teammates. Sakura was trying to stay awake while Naruto was on the ground sleeping. She felt someone's gaze on her and turns her head to see Sasuke. She smirk and said in a teasing manner, "What is it cockatoo? Like what you see?" Sasuke grunted and replied,

"No." And turned away from her. Rayne raised her eye brow at the behavior but shrugged it off.

Sasuke's POV

I sat down next to Rayne and started thinking about when I started to feel this way. It was... different, weird and I haven't felt this way before. Everytime we argue I feel like a... fool. Something I hated to feel like but she makes me feel that way. I don't like it at all. But at the same time, she's different from other girls. She doesn't swoon over me but she argues with me instead and treats me like a... I guess normal person. I guess I was staring at her because the next thing I knew she said to me in a teasing way,

"What is it cockatoo? Like what you see?" She asked. I grunted and replied with a short 'no' and turned away from her, hiding a my face when it turned a little pink. I don't want her to see me like this.

3rd. POV

All of a sudden, smoke blew and Kakashi puffed out of nowhere.

"Hi" Kakashi said with a smile under his mask.

"YOU'RE LATE!" Both Naruto and Sakura yelled. Rayne stood up and pointed to her watch.

"You're FOUR hours LATE!" She said, emphasizing the words four and late.

"Yes well a black cat crossed my path so I had to take another one, "Kakashi said, shrugging and thinking nothing of it.

"LIAR!!" Naruto and Sakura both screamed.

Rayne sigh and waved her hand in front of her face," Next time I expect a better excuse but for now can we just get on with whatever it is we're suppose to be doing?" A smile appeared underneath Kakashi's mask as he held up two bells,

"Very well then. Your mission is to get these two bells from me." Kakashi tied the bells to his waist. He took out a timer and placed in on top of one of four large poles, "This timer is timed for noon. You have to get one of these bells before then or you get tied to one of those poles and watch as I eat my lunch. If you do get a bell then you get to eat lunch." Rayne heard the growling of stomachs come from your team.

{So that's why he told us not to eat breakfast...} Sakura realized with a groan.

Rayne crossed her arms, knowing she'll be okay because she doesn't usually eat breakfast.

"But wait a second, there are only two bells, and there are four of us, "Sakura pointed out.

"Wow she can do math all by herself!" Rayne thought.

"Correct, that just means that two of you will pass and two of you will fail. Or, all of you will fail, depends on how well you do, "Kakashi said, "Now,when I say so, come at me with everything you've got."

"But isn't that dangerous, sensei?" Sakura asked out of worry.

Naruto laughed. "Yeah, especially since you couldn't even dodge a chalk eraser!"

"Don't mind him, those who speak out are usually the weakest," Kakashi spoke.

Naruto scowled, anger pulsing through him.

"Now when I say start-"

Kakashi was cut off by Naruto charging at him with a kunai. Though in a millisecond Kakashi was behind Naruto and had his arm bent and kunai pointed at his neck.

"Holy crap he's fast! I didn't even see him move!" Rayne thought to herself. She clenched her fist and smirk to herself. "Huh, I never back down from a challenge and I won't lose!"

"Don't be so hasty. I didn't say 'start' yet, "Kakashi said, releasing Naruto. Naruto stumbled back to Sasuke, Sakura, and Rayne.

"But, you came at me with the full intent of killing me. I think I'm beginning to like you guys," Kakashi said a smile appearing behind his mask.

Sakura and Naruto grinned as Rayne and Sasuke smirked.

"Now.....start!" Kakashi said and all four of them jumped away to hide. Sasuke hid in a tree kneeling on a branch. Sakura chose to hide under a bush. Rayne were sitting on a tree bench on the opposite side of the clearing than Sasuke.

Rayne's POV
As I situated yourself, Naruto came running into the clearing facing Kakashi,

"I want to face you right here right now! Fair and square!"

I hung my head and sweatdropped.

"Naruto, are you that much of a bakka?"

"You know, compared to the others, you're a little bit weird," Kakashi said.

"Grrr, the only weird thing here is your haircut!" Naruto yelled charging at Kakashi.

Kakashi reached to his pouch and stuck his hand inside, "Your first lesson, taijutsu."

"But taijutsu is hand to hand combat. So why is he.....?"

Then Kakashi pulled out a book and flipped it to the middle. Bold words on the front read 'Make-Out Paradise'.

"I can't believe it, our sensei's a pervert!" I sweatdropped.

Naruto halted. "Why are you reading that book!?"

"Why do most people read books? To see what happens of course. Besides, it make no difference, you can't touch me anyway," Kakashi said not looking up from his book.

Naruto looked outrage and with a shout, he charged at Kakashi once more. He swung a kick but Kakashi ducked. Naruto punched but Kakashi blocked it with his hand, all the while still not looking up from his book.

Before your eyes, Kakashi suddenly appeared behind Naruto. "Don't let your opponents get behind you."

Kakashi formed a handseal.

"That's the seal of the tiger!" I thought to myself in alarm

Sasuke's eyes widened. "He's not just messing with Naruto...He might kill him!!!"

"Naruto! Get out of there! He's going to kill you!!" Sakura's voice rang through the clearing.

Naruto turned his head to look but it was too late.

"1000 years of pain!" Kakashi shouted. With a jab of Kakashi's hand Naruto went flying and hit the water going underneath.

"Wow, he jabbed his fingers up Naruto's ass.." Rayne thought slapping her face and hung her head, sweatdropping multiple times.

A gleam of metal came from the lake and two shuriken came whizzing at Kakashi. Kakashi stood reading his book and caught the shuriken. The shurikens' spin slowed down as they slid down Kakashi's fingers.

I stopped watching for a second and pressed my back against the tree trunk and let my right leg hang slightly off the branch.

"Kakashi-sensei is really good. I know I'm good but...I won't be able to do this by myself. If I sneak down to Naruto then we can both team up on Kakashi-sensei and we both can get a bell..." I grinned at your genius plan. I jumped out of the tree and silently landed in a squatting position. Moving as quietly as possible, I weaved in and out of the trees trying to relocated Naruto and Kakashi.

I heard a cracking noise behind me. Still walking I look behind me but saw nothing. When I looked forward I found yourself face to face with Naruto, literally not even an inch away. He was bobbing up and down on a rope hanging from a tree.

"Stuck in a tree Naruto?" I asked with a smirk.

Naruto gave me a sour look.

"Okay okay, if you don't want my help..."I started to walk away.

"No wait! I need help getting down! DON'T LEAVE ME HERE RAY-NEE-CHAN!!!!!!!!"

Sighing I turned back around. Taking a kunai out I started to walk over to Naruto.

"Look Naruto, watching your fight with Kakashi-sensei I think-" I cut Naruto down, but just as I was about to finish Naruto was strung up again.

"Narutoooooooo," I moaned softly. I cut him down again, "So anyway I think that we should team up, ya know, surprise Kakashi-sensei. I'm sure that we can get..."I looked up to see a gust of wind rush past you. My eye twitched.

"Okay, that didn't go over so well. Well, I could always team up with Sakura. If anything, she can take care of Kakashi and I can steal a bell or two from him... or maybe the other way around if Sakura's too weak."

Then I heard a scream.

"Sakura!"

I ran towards the source of the scream.
