Chapter 5: Pass or Fail
Still Rayne's POV
I ran towards Sakura's scream. If it was any other normal day, I wouldn't really care but I need her for my plan and I can't have her being out cold or something... after all, she's my teammate too. As I turn the corner I saw a pink blob on the floor and ran into the clearing where she was lying unconscious...I think. I kneeled next to her and saw she was facing toward the right. When I looked I saw a fading near death Sasuke. I sigh and rolled my eyes.
"Geez... Kakashi-sensei must be having a really easy battle, huh?" I thought to myself. Although it might be easier to just leave her here and look for someone else or fight by yourself, I woke her up. First I tried shaking her but that didn't work so next I yelled, "Sasuke's getting married!" Sakura bolted straight up.
"Sakura... you're really pathetic." I said with an annoyed expression.
"Sasuke-kun! He's hurt! He's"
"An illusion," I said sighing gout of boredom. "Look, we're wasting time so hear me out, k? Kakashi-sensei is really strong and I can't take him out by myself and I know you can't either so let's work together to get the bells." I explain fast not to waste anymore time.
"No way!" She yelled in my face. I covered her mouth with my hand and scan the area nervously for Kakashi.
"Ssshh, you want Kakashi to find us?!"
"I refuse to work with you1" Sakura said in a harsh whisper.
"Why not?!" I ask also in a harsh whisper.
"I don't want to work with you! You'll only get a bell for yourself! The only way I'll graduate if Sasuke graduates with me!"
"Her obsession is not healthy for...anyone..." I though, then replied, "Sasuke might not even get a bell! If we work together and it makes you feel better, I'll fight Kakashi and you'll get the two bells for us."
"If Sasuke doesn't get a bell then I won't either! Love will prevail!" And with that, Sakura stood up, rushed past me and started calling for Sasuke. I watched her disappeared from my vision as I stood up, the wind picking up a breeze.
"My teammates are a bunch of bakkas that has wwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy to much pride and arrogance..." I muttered to myself.
"Well... as much as I really don't want to, cockatoo boy is my only option. At least he's the top of the class like me so we should make a good team...if he works with me."
"Raito Rayne, top female of the ninja academy and one of the last two survivor of the Kouseki clan. I wonder why you didn't charge out at me when I was done with Naruto earlier. Kakashi said from above, hanging upside down from a tree branch.
I shrugged. "So, now you want to fight me, huh?" I ask as I went into a fighting position. My left foot stretched out in front of my right foot and my left arms also went outstretch and downward toward my feet. A light smirk appeared from under Kakashi's mask.
"Are you ready?" He asked jumping down and taking out his book again.
"No." I stated, catching him off guard and returning to a standing stance.
"Wha? Why not?" He asked confused. I put my right hand on my hip where one of my chakrams are while my left hand was under my chin like I was thinking.
"As much as I would like to fight you right now and kick your ass, I have another person to attend to first." I said then smirk and threw a kunai I had hidden under my chackram that I grabbed. while he dodged it easily I ran at top speed toward where I feel Sasuke's Chakra. I walked-er jumped along the trees for any sign of blue. I sigh, so far I had no success in find anyone. I kept walking until I saw an unnatural pink blob in the middle of the clearing. I found that it was Sakura on the ground, unconscious again.
"Dear god, what happened now Sakura?" I muttered to myself while squatting down next to the girl and noticed that there was a trace of shock on her face. Not really sure what to do, I glanced to my right and there, head above the ground was... Sasuke! My face was in a mix between confusion and humor. Amused, I crawled over to the 'head' and tapped it.
"Is it real?" I asked out loud.
"Of course I'm Real!" The head shouted.
"That's Sasuke alright..." I thought to myself but instead asked, "What happened to you?" He didn't reply but turned his head away slightly. I mentally sigh at his silence then started digging around his neck.
"Listen, you know that Kakashi-sensei is really strong and we can't beat him by ourselves. We're both the top rookie in out class, we can work together and get the bells." I said. Now I grabbed his wrist and pulled him out.
"Well, what about it?"
"No." Sasuke said after glancing at me.
"Why not?! You know we can't beat him on our own!" I yelled in frustration
"Last time I touched a bell..."
"So what?" I ask my hands on my hip. Sasuke said nothing and just walked over to Sakura. Squatting down next to her he looked at her for a moment as if deciding if he really wanted to wake her. He apparently went past his better judgment and shook her.
"Sasuke!" Sakura cried when she opened her eyes. She leeched herself onto Sasuke and hugged him tightly with no intention of ever letting go.
"Get...off" Sasuke muttered trying to get air and pulling the pink kunoichi off him. I started to snicker.
"Serves him right..."
"Oh Sasuke are you alright?" Sakura asked him worriedly.
"Hn." Sasuke said getting up and dusting himself.
3rd POV
Rayne started to walk away, ignoring the two into another clearing.
"Oi lovebirds, do that somewhere else."

"We are NOT lovebirds!" Sasuke shouted, saying the word lovebird like it was poison. Sakura's face turned into a depress face but then wondered where Rayne was going. As she was about a meter away, she quickly dodge to the right. Kakashi-sensei was leaning on the tree.
"My turn, huh?" Rayne said taking a stance. She winced before bringing her hand to her cheek to wipe off blood. Rayne then wiped out two little shurikens and threw it at Kakashi while running. Kakashi deflected the shurikens and blocked the kick aimed at his head. Rayne then tried with punch his stomach with her left hand, which Kakashi blocked too. Rayne's right hand then tried to reach for the bell while her left foot tried to kick his shoulders. Kakashi's eyes widen and pushed her down right when she touched the bell. Rayne went crashing on the ground. She rolled over and stood up shakily while clutching her stomach. She spit out some blood and glared at Kakashi.
"Why did you just had to kick me in the stomach?" She asked coughing up more. Kakashi sheepily rubb the back of his head.
"Sorry, forgot."
"Pft. Yeah right..." Rayne said getting back into her stance. "I'm going to get one this time." Just as she started to run, the timer rang. Rayne, Sasuke and Sakura groan while Kakashi hid a smile behind his mask.
Sasuke sat infront of the pole on the far left while Sakura sat infront of the one on the far right. Naruto was tied to the post in the middle.
"What did he do this time?" Rayne thought from the top of the right pole inbetween Sasuke and Naruto. Kakashi stood infront of the group.
"I've decided that none of you will be sent back to the academy." Sakura and Naruto cheered while Sasuke and Rayne sat quietly but cheering inside.
"No, I think you should quit being ninjas all together." Kakashi continued. Sasuke's face hardened while Rayne's turned into a scowl. Sakura and Naruto immediately fell silent.
"You four don't know what it means to be a ninja. You're just snobby little kids who think they're playing a game. You don't deserve to be ninjas." Kakashi finished. Sasuke did NOT like being called a brat. He took a kunai out of his pouch and ran at Kakashi. Kakashi though, was to quick and grab Sasuke and sat on top of him with a kunai pointed at his neck. Sakura screamed while Rayne jumped down next to Naruto.
"Sakura, Rayne, kill Naruto now or Sasuke dies!" Kakashi ordered. Sakura gasp and Rayne hesitated to grab a kunai. Naruto looked from Sasuke to Sakura then to Rayne, not sure if they would actually do it. Kakashi removed the kunai from Sasuke's neck and placed it back in his weapon pouch.
"That's what happens in a mission. Someone is taken hostage and you have a life and death situation, someone will die," Kakashi's voice turned harsh as he looked at us, "Why do you think you four were put in squads?"
"How should we know!? We didn't decide it!" Naruto yelled from his post.

"Think about it, the four of you on a team," Kakashi said getting harsher. Everyone was quiet.
"Teamwork!" Kakashi said with a harsh sigh. Everyone's eyes widened.
"Sakura, you were only concerned for Sasuke even when Naruto and Rayne were right infront of you," Kakashi said his voice now really harsh. Sakura looked down.
"Naruto, you did everything yourself. You even decided to try and cheat even when your teammates needed help or were going to help you. Sasuke," Kakashi said pushing his face into the dirt, "You thought that everyone was so below you they would slow you down. You even thought that about Rayne even though she graduated top of the class like you and helped you. Rayne, you were the only one that figured out the answer to the test. You knew you had no chance of beating me alone so you sought help. However, you were discriminative. You were going to use a teammate just as a distraction because you thought they would not be powerful enough and you thought the other one stood a chance so they were good enough to fight beside you," Kakashi finished. Rayne lowered your gaze.

Kakashi got off of Sasuke. Sasuke stood up and walked back to your group, avoiding gaze. Kakashi walked over to a rock, "Names of heroes in the village are carved in this rock. Some of my closet friends are in here."

"Oh I've just decided, I want my name to be carved in there!"

"These are...special ninja," Kakashi informed.

"What kind of ninja!?" Naruto asked excited.

"They're K.I.A," Rayne answered quietly. She knew they rock, a lot of her clan's names were carved in it.

"K.I.A? That sound really cool!"

"It means killed in action, "Sakura told Naruto quietly.

Naruto grew silent. Kakashi sighed. "I will give you guys one more try. You will get 15 minutes to eat then you will try and get bells once again, but Naruto doesn't get to eat. If I catch anyone trying to feed him you will all fail automatically."

Kakashi handed you boxes of food and left without another word.

Deciding not to jump back onto the pole after collecting your lunch, Rayne sat between Naruto and Sakura.
As Rayne, Sasuke and Sakura started eating their rice, they heard Naruto's stomach growl.

Sakura, Sasuke and you looked up at him.

"I'm ok! I can take this! No problem!" Naruto insisted, acting tough but everyone could tell the pain of hunger in his face.

Rayne looked down at your half eaten food. Sighing she lifted her box up to him. "Here."

She widened her eyes and looked past Naruto. Sasuke had done the same action as you at the same time. Sasuke looked just as stunned, but he quickly recovered.

"B-but, Ray-nee-chan..."Naruto started.

"Just eat it," Rayne said pushing your food towards him.

"But Rayne, Sasuke, Kakashi-sensei said not to feed Naruto!" Sakura objected.

"If he doesn't eat he'll be weak and we'll fail anyway," Sasuke protested. "Besides, I don't sense his chakra nearby,"

"But, there's a problem, "Naruto twitched his tied up hands.

Rayne's eye twitched.

"Hurry up," Sasuke said, shifting his gaze.

"Pinkie, you do it. Contribute something." Rayne said and gave the food to Sakura. She then stuffed food into Naruto's mouth.

The sky became dark and you heard thunder and saw lightning. A strong wind rushed past them. Rayne took out her chakram while Sasuke put his guard up as he kneeled on the ground. Sakura sat on her knees using her arms to protect her face where as Naruto was stunned with fear.

Kakashi appeared, his voice booming and angry. "You guys broke the rules!"

"B-b-b-b-but you said..."Naruto stuttered.

"Well!?" Kakashi's voice boomed.

"We're a team, "Sasuke stated calmly.

"Yeah, we work together!" Rayne added.

"The four of us are one!" Sakura put in.

"Yeah, what they said! Believe it!" Naruto yelled.

"The four of you are one? That's your excuse!?" The skies seemed to darken further.

The rest of them looked ready to fight. The skies lightened and a smile appeared on Kakashi's face. "You guys...pass."

Everyone stopped to process what just happened. "We...past?" Sakura asked timidly.

"Yes, you are the first team. The other groups did what I told them and they all failed. In the ninja world, those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum. Team seven starts their first mission tomorrow!" Kakashi said giving a thumbs up, "Let's go."

Rayne, Sakura, and Sasuke stood up, following Kakashi with grins set upon your faces. Well, except for Sasuke, he was smirking.

"I knew it was gonna be like this!!" Naruto yelled, still tied to his post.

Sasuke smirk while Sakura didn't do anything to help and continued walking. Rayne laughed and ran back, untied Naruto and they both went on their way. Little did any of them know, they were not alone.
