“Die demon,”
As these words were whispered, a small black object fell from the sky at a rapid speed. The object sailed straight for the foxes, and as the object got closer, it was revealed to be a small black kunai. The kunai struck like lightning. In the middle of the clearing, silent and horrified gasps could be heard. Sasuke looked down at Nala in horror. Sticking out from the babies belly was a kunai, surrounded by the child's blood as it slowly gushed out from the deep wound, the kunai easily able to penetrate the thin skin of the underdeveloped infant. The entire clearing was silent. The silence was only broken by the pain-filled cries of the newborn child.
Chapter 19
On with the story
The baby's cries sent shivers up the spines of its family. Nala's family looked at her in disbelief before they all snapped out of there daze and sprung to action. In a split second Sasuke quickly grabbed the handle of the kunai, pulling it out, and flinging it across the clearing. He then put both hands over the hole in Nala's stomach and attempted to heal her with a green light that came from his hands. At the same time every fox jumped over to Sasuke, surrounding him with their tails before disappearing in a plume of flames. Every fox left the clearing, except for one. In the middle of the clearing Naruto stood motionlessly, still staring at the spot where his baby was just attacked.
A little ways away, the people around the clearing were still in shock, none knowing who through the kunai, but of-course that didn't matter to Naruto. Tsunade looked at Naruto in worry, already knowing what Naruto was thinking.
“Naruto please stay calm, we will find the person that did this and bring them to justice.” She said in a panic. As she said this, she could see a small clear substance drop to the earth from Naruto's face. His entire body was shaking. He then looked over to Tsunade slowly, tears streaming from his eyes. Tsunade and everyone else who could see Naruto's face suddenly froze. Naruto's eyes were a mix of great sorrow, and anger. His eyes were blood red, his gaze was like none they had ever seen, a gaze of an angry demon, but more important, the gaze of an angry father. Then Naruto began to speak in an alarmingly calm and low voice, as if possessed.
“Justice, what do you know of justice? What do any of you damn humans know of justice.” He then looked down at the ground, blocking his face from there view, still whispering lowly. “I'll kill you…I'll kill you…I'LL KILL YOU ALL!!!” He screamed before suddenly erupting with an enormous amount of chakra. Dark red chakra swirled around him as he through his head back and screamed out in pain. Suddenly the entire clearing exploded in a wave of blue fire. The explosion killed everyone in the clearing who wasn't an especially high level shinobi. The explosion created a blue and red mushroom cloud that could be seen and felt by everyone in Konoha miles away.
Traveling quickly through the forest towards Konoha was Tsunade, Jiraiya, and a few other ninja who had barely escaped, including Hinata and Sakura. They all had burnt marks across there bodies. Behind them they could feel that huge, unimaginable energy following them, trees falling down in it wake. Tsunade looked back in fear before quickly performing hand signs and shooting a red ball of energy into the air.
Back in Konoha a ninja on the village walls say the flare before running to a spot on the wall and pressing a button. Instantly, sirens began to go off through the entire village. The entire village automatically knew what that sound meant and suddenly the streets were filled with people running towards the hokage monument where the safe houses were. The shinobi in the village quickly led everyone to safety as other shinobi began gathering on top of Konoha's wall. As shinobi began to gather, they could see Tsunade and the few others traveling quickly towards the village. But they could also see something a few miles behind them, or more accurately they could feel it. They couldn't see what it was, but they could see a huge amount of red chakra bursting through the trees and heading for them. As the fleeing shinobi arrived the gates were opening for them.
They entered the village and were met with confused faces of the village shinobi. Suddenly a silver head stepped forward, his red eye out and ready.
“Hokage-sama what has happened what is that?”
“Have you gotten the villagers to safety?” Tsunade asked, ignoring the man's question.
“Yes they are safe; they are being led to the safe houses as we speak. Tsunade, what has happened?” He asked, feeling the energy moving closer. Tsunade gave the shinobi a look that few had seem, a look of fear. She then looked at the wall surrounding the village.
“Get away from the wall.” She said to everyone. The shinobi didn't waist anytime, they all instantly took to the roofs and made their way quickly away from the wall, and just as they fell back, the wall exploded, blowing away and disintegrating many hundreds of meters of concrete, and also destroying a few building near the wall. Every shinobi looked at the explosion in awe. Dust gathered around the explosion center with blue fire still burning. As the dust cleared they could see that a large section of the wall was completely gone, soon after a figure stepped through the fire and dust, a dark figure stepping through, red chakra thrashing wildly around the figure, springing out and attacking any structure in range. Behind it nine fox tails thrashed about wildly, only the silhouette of the figure could be seen through the deep, dark, red chakra surrounding it. As he stood there the once bright sky began to darken. The dark clouds began to gather and block any sunlight from the village. Then slowly the cloud began to turn blood red, saturating the village in red.
Suddenly without warning, the figure blew a huge plume of blue fire at the shinobi. The fire burned through many shinobi with ease before exploding, disintegrating many dozens of shinobi in one stroke. Again only the most powerful shinobi survived. The blast destroyed many building for several miles. The shinobi looked on in horror at the destroyed section of their village.
The figure looked on at the ruins emotionlessly before a pillar of earth rose from the ground, lifting Naruto a hundred feet into the air. To his side nine more pillars began to rise. On top of those pillars, there were many plumes of blue fire, and out stepped Midnight, Kenshi, Yin, Yang, Naki and four more foxes with seven tails. They were all surrounded by wild red chakra, their tails thrashing about.
A little ways away, there were two huge puffs of smoke. Out of the smoke emerged two huge figures, a toad and a giant slug. On top of the frog stood Jiraiya, and on top of the slug stood Tsunade. The giant toad looked at the opponents before him before taking a puff of his giant pipe and reaching for his sword. He then looked up to Jiraiya.
“Jiraiya, what have you done?” The toad asked with a hint of worry in his voice. Jiraiya stared at the demons in front of him in worry, not answering the toad's question. As the summons emerged, one last pillar rose from the earth. This one rose in front of all of the others. There was a plume of smoke and out stepped at ten foot tall fox. As it emerged, the toad suddenly gave a visibly flinch, its huge size making the flinch obvious. This fox was none other than Kyuubi.
Any other time Kyuubi would have been amused by the toad's fear but not now. Her face was contorted in rage and hate, but she didn't move, she wasn't here to fight, only to watch. Tsunade looked at Kyuubi before looking over to Naruto, hoping to stop the fight before it started.
“Naruto please don't do this, this fight, will take countless innocent lives, I didn't realize it before but I know that you have a kind heart. Don't let the innocent suffer because of the mistakes of the few.” She pleaded.
But her words fell on deaf ears. But she was given a short response from Kyuubi. “No human is innocent.” She growled. Naruto suddenly jumped from his pillar and landed on a building. As he did he pounded his hand onto the ground and there was a small eruption of red chakra and out of that red chakra stepped nine feral, ten foot tall foxes. They each had eight tails thrashing about wildly. Three of them were black, another three were dark red, two were grey, and one was white, the leader. They were the hell pack. They were born and lived in hell there entire lives. They only knew chaos. They were the official declaration of war, nearly uncontrollable even by the summoned, and extremely powerful. Once these foxes were summoned there was no going back. They would kill, rape, and everything until the war was compete or they were killed. As the foxes took in their surrounding they suddenly sprang foreword, sending waves of red chakra and blue fire and all directions, destroying everything.
As the hell pack charged forward, Yin and Yang suddenly sprang forward, flying straight for Jiraiya and Tsunade. Yin flew towards Tsunade, a small red ball swirling in her hand. She landed on a building on threw the ball at Tsunade and her slug. The slug suddenly exploded bursting into thousands of tiny slugs effectively dodging the blast. The ball exploded behind them, destroying dozens of shinobi and buildings. Yin looked at the slugs before jumping high into the air and holding up her hand. Instantly lightning gathered in her hand before many thousands of lightening bolts struck at the slugs, but before the bolts could connect with the many slugs, they disappeared in a poof of smoke, abandoning Tsunade. Yin then began to fall quickly towards Tsunade. She fell quickly, slamming into Tsunade and driving both of them into the ground.
At the same time, Yang attacked Jiraiya and his toad. He blew a huge plume of blue flames towards the toads who hopped high into the air. It then created a hand seal and spat two large water pellets at Yang. Yang landed on a building before quickly performing hand seals, spinning around, planting his feet, and thrusting both of his palms towards the toad, instantly a giant thorn erupting from the earth, plunging through the two pellets of water and struck the toad at lightning speed. Right before the thorn struck the toad looked up at Jiraiya.
“Good luck Jiraiya.” It said before disappearing in a poof smoke. As it disappeared, Jiraiya began falling towards the ground, but suddenly Yang appeared in front of him and delivered a mountain crushing palm strike to the chest, slamming him down to the ground. He then fell from the sky, following Jiraiya to continue the fight.
With the rest of the shinobi in the village, they were busy fighting against Kenshi, Naki, and the other four foxes. Or more accurately, they were busy being massacred. Even though the foxes were vastly outnumbered, they tore through the shinobi with unmerciful rage. Dozens of shinobi fell as they were pushed back. Unknown to the shinobi, they were being herded, herded back to the hokage monument.
Behind the fighting, hell pack were doing clean up. They ran from house to house finding any stragglers and either capturing them with their tails or simply killing them. They took anyone who they found even remotely attractive and took them as their sex slaves. Age and gender didn't matter to the hell foxes. After they cleaned out buildings and houses, they would burn it the ground and move on to the next. In just a few minutes over half the village was engulfed in flame.
Naruto and Kyuubi stood on top of their pillars watching over the whole seen. Naruto still felt nothing for the humans, watched as one of the hell foxes raped a man, and watched as Naki plunged his claw through a female shinobi's heart. He watched with indifference on the outside. But deep down inside, something was tugging at his heart as he watched the destruction. Kyuubi looked over to Naruto in thought, watching his reaction to the massacre. She was used to this, but she wasn't sure if Naruto was. But Naruto made no attempts to stop the destruction, he knew what had to be done, at least for now.
A little ways away, a figure flew through the air, crashing into some rubble, dust flying up as it did. The figure slowly climbed out of the rubble, blood gushing out of its body. This figure was Jiraiya, and he was losing his fight against Yang. He had been able to keep up with Yang for the first few minutes, but as he fought on, he found himself growing more tired and weaker, as if fighting with Yang was draining his chakra. As he stood up Yang suddenly appeared to his side, sending a powerful kick towards his head. Jiraiya, now too slow to dodge, raised his arms to successfully block the kick. But as the kick connected with his arm, he felt a few bone cracks. He gritted his teeth in pain before Yang blew a plume of fire directly at him. When the fire died down, Jiraiya was gone. Yang let out a small growl before disappearing, going to help Kenshi take down the rest of the village shinobi.
A little ways away, Jiraiya was running on top of the few remaining building heading towards the hokage monument to help out. As he ran he caught sight of another figure a little ways in front of him and he sped up to meet it. The figure was Tsunade, running towards the hokage monument as well. She looked to be in very bad shape, blood streaming down her body, and both her arms hung limp at her side with gashes all across her body. Slowly her wounds were healing thanks to the seal on her fore head, but she was still in bad shape. Jiraiya stared at her for a second before looking out in front, a very serious and worried expression on his face. Tsunade didn't bother looking back at him.
“Tsunade…we…”
“I know…” She interrupted, already knowing what he was about to say. They couldn't win.
In just an hour the village had been almost completely destroyed except for the small section by the hokage monument which the hell pack were currently taking care of. They each ran through the village with at least six people wrapped in there tails, some even had more. They were very efficient, and it didn't take them long to clear the village of every person and structure. By now the village shinobi had been backed into a small section under the hokage monument, Jiraiya and Tsunade included. Above them were the safe houses built into the mountain. The there were only a hand full of shinobi left. They stood surrounded by Naki, the siblings the other four demons. Each of them had barely a scratch on them. If they did sustain any damage it was healed by now. As the shinobi stood surrounded, the few building left in the village nearby suddenly exploded in a flurry of blue fire and red chakra. As the fire rose the hell pack suddenly jumped from the flames, standing next to the rest of the foxes. Each of them held people of every age and gender in their tails, either unconscious or screaming for help.
As the flames burned behind them, Naruto suddenly stepped from the flames, walking slowly towards the shinobi. He walked through the line the foxes has created and out in front of them to face the shinobi. He looked at them emotionlessly, his chakras now calm, and his tails swaying gently back in forth. Wordlessly he looked up at the many building holding the Konoha citizens. He then looked to the shinobi.
“Bring down your citizens.” He said blankly. But no one made a move. They just stared at him in defiance. But Naruto held no sign of anger. “You have five minutes to get everyone down here, after that the hell pack will have their way with anyone still remaining in the safe house.” He again said in an emotionless tone. As he said this a little girl trapped in one of the fox's tails began to cry. All attention was drawn to the girl. As she cried the hell fox holding let out a agitated growl before suddenly slamming her down to the ground, smashing head on the ground and successfully knocking her out. The captured humans who were still awake suddenly silenced them self. Naruto then looked back at the shinobi.
“You have four minutes.” As he said this Tsunade gave a hand signal and a few shinobi suddenly race up to the safe houses and soon people were quickly running out of the safe houses. Among them, Iruka was helping to lead the citizens out. Never able to rise past the rank of chunin, he stayed with the citizens of Konoha rather than fight. The people crowded behind the remaining shinobi, each one of them fearing for their life. After four minutes the last of the people ran down with the others. But Iruka made his way to the front to speak to Tsunade.
“Tsunade, there a still people in their, people who are too afraid to come out, mostly children.” Iruka said in worry. Tsunade then look to him in surprise.
“You drag them out kicking and screaming if you have too.” She screamed. But it was too late. Suddenly all nine hell foxes jumped up to the safe houses. The children would be dragged out kicking and screaming, but not by the shinobi. Up in the safe houses screaming could be heard and random plumes of fire escaped the windows of the houses. After a few seconds the hell pack jumped out of the windows carrying crying children, screaming teens, and sulking adults. They landed on the ground with what seemed like satisfied smile across their muzzle. Tsunade looked at the foxes before looking back at Naruto, she was about to try to reason with Naruto but with one look at his face, she knew it to be futile. She then looked down with gritted teeth, not knowing what to do. As shinobi and citizens looked at the captured citizens in fear, Iruka suddenly stepped away from the group and walked up to Naruto. Kakashi grabbed his arm but he pulled away and walked out in front of Naruto.
Iruka looked up at Naruto with sad and angry eyes, tears threatening to fall from his face. As he stood there, Iruka did something that surprised everyone, even himself. He slapped Naruto across the face. Naruto recoiled from the slap with wide eyes. He then slowly looked back at the now crying Iruka.
“How could you Naruto, how could you.” Iruka said through ragged breath. He then suddenly reached for a kunai. Every fox ready themselves to strike but Naruto made a small gesture that stopped them all in there tracks. Iruka pulled out a kunai and plunged it towards Naruto's chest. The kunai collided with his chest but as it connected it broke in half. Iruka didn't stop though, he began hacking at Naruto's chest over and with the broke kunai, tears continuously streaming down his face. As he watched Iruka, Naruto's emotionless suddenly dropped and he looked down at Iruka with sad eyes, as Iruka came down with another useless strike Naruto suddenly grabbed Iruka's wrist with one of his tails, wrapping his arms around Iruka's back, and pulling him into a soft hug. As he did this Iruka released the Kunai and began to cry into Naruto's chest.
Everyone looked at the scene in confusion but dared not say a word. Naruto held Iruka softly and began to speak.
“I have to do this Iruka. You may not understand but I have to do this.” Naruto said sadly. Iruka gave no reaction but continued to cry into Naruto's chest. Naruto then looked at the shinobi and citizens.
“You all have two choices. You can either die, or become one of us. There was a third option. You could live but you would live under our rule. I have realized that I could never do that. I can never enslave anyone so these are your choices, join us or die.” As he said this, the ground began to rumble slightly and huge circular bush began to rise. It had a single entrance, a large doorway. Inside the door way was just empty space where the people would be transported to the village for the transformation. Suddenly there were to plumes of flame by the doorway and two female foxes stepped through. They were both wearing white kimonos and had a welcoming smile on there face. As the villagers looked at the scene, they began to respond.
“Those aren't choices, we will never join you demons.” One person cried out which was followed by cheers of approval, as he said this Kenshi suddenly stepped foreword next to his father. He then raised his hand, and a small red ball gathered in his palm.
“Then you choose death, I will give you ten seconds to say goodbye to your loved ones and pray to who ever you worship.” As he said this, the crowd went silent. Suddenly a woman stepped through the crowd with two small children at her feet. They clung to her dress. She looked to Kenshi with a scare expression. Kenshi stared at her before stepping aside. She then slowly began to make her way to the giant bush. The two foxes gave her and her children a smile before motioning towards the entrance. She slowly made her way in and suddenly disappeared.
As the villagers watched her, more people began to move forward. The shinobi did nothing to stop them. Iruka looked pulled away from Naruto and watched the crowd. He then walked into crowd that had yet to move and began to convince the other citizens to go with the rest. Iruka was one of the most trusted and loved person by the citizens and he was able to convince the people to go. After a few minutes only the shinobi were left, Iruka than walked up to Naruto and looked over to the hell pack.
“Release the children.” Iruka said sternly. Naruto stared at Iruka for a second before emitting deep growls. In response the hell pack began to growl, and Naruto growled back. Iruka could tell they were arguing. After a few moments, the foxes suddenly released the small children they captured. The girl that was knocked out before was woken up and ran towards Iruka. Only the children were released, the teenagers and adults were still captured. Iruka now held a dozen crying children in his arms. He then looked at the foxes. “And the teenagers,” He said again. Naruto just shook his head slowly, knowing he wouldn't be able to convince the foxes to release the teens; the teens were the fox's favorites. Iruka stared at Naruto, before focusing on the children.
“Come on, it's ok.” He said while slowly leading the children into the bush. Naruto watched them disappear with a small smile before focusing his attention on the shinobi. He looked at them sternly.
“You still refuse to become one of us.” He was answered by silence. They all stared at him with black and defiant faces. He looked at them with conflict in his eyes. He thought that Kenshi's that would get them all to convert, but he was wrong. He then slowly raised his hand at them, and gathered energy in his palm. They all prepared to die.
Naruto stared at them, trying to convince himself to deal the final blow. This moment, the decision he made right now would decide the fate of every human in world. Once he killed them then he would start the war against the entire human race, killing all to ensure the safety of his family. All he had to do was strike. But Naruto didn't strike he just stood there, looking at the shinobi with fear in his eyes. As he stood there Kenshi and the rest of the foxes looked to him.
“Father this must be done. If we are to protect are family, we have to destroy the humans. There can be no peace with them.” Kenshi pleaded. But Naruto still didn't, he just stood there for a moment, before lowering his hand.
“I can't,” He said sadly, knowing what this decision would mean. Like countless demons before him, he had chosen to spare the humans, and soon the humans would destroy him. But he couldn't kill them. He still held feeling for the humans. Even though he had always been treated so badly by the humans, his heart wouldn't allow him to destroy an entire species. So an order to preserve the human race, he would sacrifice his own race, his own family.
Kenshi looked at Naruto in anger before staring down at the ground. He would never go against his father's wishes. He knew what was going to happen now. He stared at the ground in defeat before slowly walking out in front of Naruto, and facing the shinobi.
“You humans have no idea how lucky you are. You do not deserve my father's love. You are such evil creatures and yet you have stolen the love of my father from me, and our family. I see now that your trickery knows no bounds, but still, I congratulateyou. Though I know you all will never appreciate the love you have been gives, I will do nothing to stop you from destroying us, I love my father and I will never go against him. You are so lucky.” He said with a sad smile. As he finished talking, he looked into the red sky with his eyes closes before raising his claw and plunging it into his own. His actions were followed by many gasps of shock.
Naruto looked at Kenshi in Horror.
“What are you doing?” Naruto asked in a panic. Kenshi simply looked back at Naruto, blood spilling from his muzzle as he dug his claws deeper, intending to rip out his own heart.
“I will not go against, but I cannot, I will not be around to see our family destroyed, goodbye father.” As he said this, Yin and Yang suddenly plunged there claws into there chest as well. Soon, Naki and Midnight did the same as well, followed by the four other foxes.
Naruto looked at the scene around him in horror, his body shaking from the sight. Naruto held his head, shaking his head in conflict. But as he saw another gush of blood from Kenshi's muzzle, he decided what he must do. He suddenly raised his hand at the shinobi, a look of resolution in his eyes.
“I WON'T LET YOU DESTROY MY FAMILY!!!” He screamed. But as he did, Hinata suddenly stepped out in front.
“Wait!!!” She shouted. Suddenly everyone froze, and looked at Hinata. She then looked back at the shinobi.
“Is this how you want to die? Our live is dedicated to protecting, guiding, and helping our citizens. That is our goal above all else. Who are we helping if we are dead? We must live. Those people are scarred and they need someone to guide them. You can throw your lives away if you want, but I know what's really important.” As she said this, she suddenly got down on one knee, and kneeled to Naruto. Tsunade looked down at Hinata before copying her and kneeling. She was followed by everyone else.
As they did this, Kenshi pulled his hand out of his chest, his wound slowly healing. He was followed by every, other demon. Then Kenshi turned to Naruto and looked up at him, the wound healed by left a permanent scar.
“In the days to come, if you ever doubt you actions, one look at this scar will make you remember why you fight. And in the days to come, you will not hesitate, because I know you can see what I see, the world that we will create. A world where you can look down upon it, and smile,” Kenshi spoke with a weak smile. As he ended his speech, there were soft foot steps behind them, and slowly Kyuubi moved towards them in her full demon form. She straddled over to them with a soft smile across her muzzle, her tails swinging gracefully behind her. She walked over to Naruto, and nuzzles her muzzle into his cheek, purring contently.
“I am so proud of you, both of you.” She said while looking to Kenshi. Kenshi then smiled at her happily. “Thank you grandma,” Kyuubi chuckled softly before walking in front of Hinata and the shinobi.
“Stand my child, from now on you knee to no one that is not how we show our respect.” Hinata looked up at her with a nod before standing up. She was followed by the rest of the shinobi. Kyuubi then rubbed Hinata's cheek with one of her tails.
“I promise you will be happy as a part of our family.” As she said this, she suddenly jumped on top of the hokage monument. She then blew a plume of blue fire on the faces of the hokage monument, melting them. She looked down on everyone with a smile.
“Today begins the start of a new era, an era of peace and prosperity, and era of love. This world will no longer be tainted by hate, poisoned by anger. We will work together so that our children, and children's children, may live in a kind world, and grow up with their little hearts filled with love. This was only the beginning, so though we dread the days to come, what we have do today, must be done again to ensure not only our future, but of the world and every living creature. In years to come, we will look back on this day and smile knowing that this was the day that allowed us to live in peace, contentment and happiness. Today we welcome, the era of the fox.” As Kyuubi finished, the mountain began to rumble, and a giant stone statue began to rise from the mountain. It continued to rise a hundred feet above the mountain, and as it stopped, the details of the statue were revealed. It was a statue of Kyuubi in her demon form, but she was looking down on something, below her she cradled a young Naruto in her arms. He was sleeping soundly with his thumb in his mouth while Kyuubi looked down on him lovingly.
As everyone stared at the statue, the red sky began to part, letting the sun shine through. And the sun just happened to shine directly on the baby statue of Naruto, illuminating him, and making him glow. Suddenly every fox threw back their heads and howled into the sky. As they did, Kyuubi looked down on Naruto with a soft smile. Naruto looked back up at her, returning her smile. Naruto then softly whispered something to Kyuubi, knowing she would be able to hear him.
“I love you mother.” He said happily.
“I love you too Naruto…my son.”
