Um, Hi again! I really need reviews and I'm trying not to whine, but I NEED reviews because then I can decide whether or not to continue the story. Anyway, enjoy!

 

Chapter 2: Bonds tighten

 

Hiashi blocked a quick kick to the side only to have a palm of chakra slammed into his chest. As he fell to floor he murmured, “You've gotten much better, Kaoru.”

 

Hatake Kaoru then ran to her adoptive father and helped him up. Her pupiless golden eyes held a look of concern as she asked, “Are you hurt Hiashi-sama?”

 

Hiashi smiled and ruffles his 5-year-old adoptive daughter's hair. At first he had been uncomfortable around the girl, but now, he grew used to her attitude.

 

She was kind and gentle, but when needed, could be ferocious. She was also very considerate and was helping his failing heir of a daughter, Hinata, with the gentle fist and playing with his lonely nephew, Neji.

 

Ever since she had developed the Byakugan at age two, she had become a master at the gentle fist. She learned things quickly and Hiashi found himself wishing that she were the heir.

 

“Hiashi, Kaoru, Dinner is ready!” yelled Hasume. Kaoru smile her warm smile and led Hiashi inside by the hand.

 

12-year-old Itachi was currently VERY frustrated. He had been trying to find Hikaru and Sasuke in the forest for an hour and still hadn't found her! “Alright guys, you win!” yelled Itachi as he lay down on the grass.

 

5-year-old Hikaru then jumped down from a tree and retorted, “You're not very good at hide and seek, are you Itachi?” Itachi growled and Hikaru just rolled her eyes.

 

Hikaru was the only one who could insult Itachi and get away with it. She was cocky and sarcastic, probably from the influence of Mikoto.

Sasuke then came out from behind a bush and smirked while replying, “You know she's right aniki!” Itachi glared at him and poked his forehead, which enrages a 5-year-old Sasuke.

 

Hikaru then lay back, using Itachi's stomach as a pillow, and asked, “Hey Itachi? Will you teach me that cool fireball jutsu that you did this morning?” Itachi smirked and shook his head.

 

As Hikaru pouted while Sasuke laughed, Itachi's mind drifted to last night. Last night, he had asked his father and his mother if he could give Hikaru an Uchiha necklace.

 

An Uchiha necklace was basically a black chocker with an Uchiha fan pendent, but it was more symbolic. It was like an engagement ring, once given, the two were supposed to marry when older.

 

Itachi wouldn't say it out loud, but he had fallen in love with Hikaru, cocky, sarcastic, smartass Hikaru. Of course his mother had agreed, his mother loved Hikaru, while his father had exploded.

 

His father hated Hikaru just because she was a vessel for a Shinigami. Itachi also knew for a fact that Sasuke also had a crush on Hikaru, a big one. Great, his rival for Hikaru had to be his 5-year-old brother!

 

Itachi sighed and glanced at Hikaru and Sasuke, who had fallen asleep. Itachi smiled and picked them up and took them home.

 

Kakashi was finally home, after 5 weeks! He had then quit being an ANBU and had gone back to being a Jonin. He had had enough “excitement” and was tired of being away from his daughters for such long periods of time.

 

Kakashi smiled as she remembered how Hikaru and Kaoru had both fallen into a stream when they had been three and on a picnic.

 

The stream had been shallow so they were okay, but it was the look of pure joy on both children that he had remembered. They had shrieked with laughter and had splash everything, including himself.

 

Kakashi sighed, his daughters were so very innocent and cute, but the villagers continued their glares and hated comments.

 

He remembered the time Kaoru had come crying when the village kids had called her demon and Shinigami. Hikaru had also come home, but she had tried to restrain her tears and had eventually fallen asleep crying.

 

Both his daughters still had nightmares and most of the time had woken up screaming. He hated feeling helpless as he comforted them and watched them twitch and mumble in their sleep.

 

Kaoru may have looked like him, but she was exactly like her mother in spirit. Hikaru was no doubt Obito's daughter. They acted exactly the same and sometimes, he saw Obito and not Hikaru.

 

Of course what worried him was that whenever he mentioned her father, Hikaru's face disappeared of emotion and everything became awkward.

 

Hikaru did know that Iwa ninja had killed her father, but surely she wouldn't try t do something stupid like getting revenge, right?
