Vampire detective Shido looked over his shoulder as he scanned the park area around him. He was breathing hard, bleeding from various wounds and feeling weak with fatigue. If he didn't find that Breed more innocent people were going to die. Damn it! The blasted thing was just playing with him; luring him out and away from the surroundings he was familiar with. Both the vampire and the Breed inflicted wounds upon each other, but Shido had gotten the worst. He only hoped that Riho and Yaiyo would show up to help because as things looked now, he wasn't going to be able to defeat it on his own. This Breed was clever.
Shido released a sharp cry as the Breed grabbed the vampire by his long violet hair and pulled intent on ripping his hair out by the roots as Shido pulled back trying to free himself. It was no use; the damned thing had too firm a grip on his hair. Shido quickly made a decision: live or die at this moment. Swiftly he freed himself by slicing off his ponytail. Locks of violet slowly fell in the motion, and Shido started forward before quickly collecting himself and braced for another attack.
A noise behind him made Shido whirl around only to receive another wound, this one in his shoulder. Shido cried out as the Breed withdrew its weapon from his shoulder. Shido clutched his wound, hissing at the thing. The Breed snickered before disappearing behind some bushes. Shido growled and ran after it. It led him through a park and up a tall office building. Landing on the rooftop, Shido looked around.
"You look like you've been through a most unpleasant experience, Shido," came an all too familiar voice from behind. Shido turned to see Cain standing on the other side of the rooftop with that damned smile of his. The older vampire lord opened his eyes. They narrowed when he noticed Shido's now shorter and uneven butchered hair. It had been one of Cain's favorite features of Shido. "Still fighting to save humanity, Shido?"
"Brilliant observation, Sherlock," Shido replied, feeling too tried to put up his former lover's strange sense of humor.
"Shido, you look tried from your battle. Come with me and rest for a while," Cain said, offering out his hand towards him.
Shido gave him a weak smile and said, "I'm almost tempted, Cain but I need to stop this Breed. You may not care, but this ones been murdering people for no probable cause. It simply enjoys to kill."
"I only kill to feed, Shido. I do not kill for pleasure; you should know that," Cain retorted, choosing not to be truly offended with Shido's accusations on his character.
A low combination of a hissing and growling made Shido turn around. There was the Breed, hunching down for another strike determined to finish off the violet haired vampire.
"I normally don't offer my services, but why not allow me to kill it. You're in no position to do the job," Cain said, forming his whip.
Shido chuckled and looked over his shoulder at Cain. "Why Cain, you almost sounded concern for me back there. Sorry, but this is personal between us. One of the humans this thing murdered was a friend of mine."
Turning back to the Breed, Shido bit his finger and form his favorite weapon. With a battle cry from each side, Shido and the Breed charged at each other. The Breed raised its talons as Shido raised his sword. There was a sickening sound before Shido and the Breed wobbled away from each other. Shido stood up as best he could as he turned around. The Breed fell to its knees before melting into a puddle of gross mush then nothing but whispers of air. Shido dropped his sword, feeling completely drained.
"Finally… It's over…" he said.
"That was most dramatic. Now, shall we go, Shido?" Cain said, offering his hand again.
Shido didn't even hear him. The world was spinning and he felt so tired. A nice long day's sleep would be nice.
"Shido?" Cain asked, raising an eyebrow as he watched Shido wobble backwards and forward. Cain gave him a fond smile. "You've exhausted yourself. Come to me, Shido and I shall see to your needs."
Shido tossed his head and wobbled backwards.
"Shido?"
"Mmm. Feel strange…" Shido murmured as he backed up and bumped the back of his knees into the roof's edge. He suddenly went over the edge.
"SHIDO!" Cain ran over to grab his hand but he was too late. Shido feel downwards to the streets belong like a brick of cement. "SHIDO!!"
