“Hey red, what’s up?” Mr. Kojima questioned, in a rather good mood for the ordinarily grumpy man.
“The sky,” Kaito replied, rather irritated and actually more irritated because the usually grumpy guy was happy when he was feeling so miserable.
“Don’t be a smart ass kid, now come sit on papa’s lap and tell me what hurts,” Mr. Kojima said patting his lap, further getting under the teen’s skin.
“How can I not be a smart ass when you’re just teasing me on purpose. And no, I’m not sitting on your lap, you sound like a lecher and a child molester. I don’t think your boyfriend would appreciate that, now would he?” Kaito retorted.
“Way to take me seriously, asshole,”
“Last time I checked, teachers don’t talk to their students like that,”
“Last time I checked, Ren Kojima wasn’t some kind of counselor. So either get to talking or get your ass out of here, I’m wasting perfectly good Akira-fantasizing time,” Kojima said, practically telling the boy to leave this instant.
But Kaito optioned in on staying, and instead sat across from the gruff teacher’s desk.
“So, even though this is probably going to sting emotionally… and trust me I know it will, tell me about your ex and your relationship together,” Mr. Kojima began, acting like a therapist.
“Well, me and Haruki first met in, well, your homeroom. He kept complimenting me and stuff, saying all this nice stuff to me I didn’t really think was true. I have horrible self esteem, what can I say? So anyways he must’ve noticed that, because he always kept getting on me for not accepting his compliments…”
Mr. Kojima was trying to look more interested than he actually was, and also fighting the urge to tell the red-head to hurry his story along. This wasn’t therapy, it was Kojima’s lunchtime, which wasn’t really all that long considerably.
“Look, you looking like that isn’t helping. I’m a fucking wreck and you look so disinterested… I don’t even know why Hachirou wanted me to talk to you in the first place, quite frankly. I liked Haruki, he was my first boyfriend and we had the most awesome dates together and… I don’t even know how to describe our relationship in words. But when it came to me and him being intimate, it became different, I wasn’t as excited over it as you would expect someone to be,”
“It was your first time?”
“… No, not exactly,”
Mr. Kojima just frowned before slumping back on his desk and motioning for Kaito to continue.
“Either way, we did it. Afterwards, he found out that during a phone call with one of my old friends, Masaru, you might know him, he found out that I said that Hachirou was my number one and I was always going to love him first and foremost. Then we broke up.”
“Man that sounds like a real mess and you really do need to sort these feelings out, or you’ll end up in relationship after relationship and none of them will work out,” Kojima explained. “In fact, let me tell you a little about my experience with something similar, as long as you swear by your very life not to let this get out to anyone, lest I lose my job. Understand?”
“Yes sir,” Kaito replied, now looking intently into the eyes of his teacher, whom he was actually starting to discover was a real person, believe it or not. Not a grumpy, heartless bastard, but a real person.
“Okay… well when I started teaching here, about three years ago before I even met Akira, I kind of developed a mad crush on someone. Yes, even grown men develop crushes, even though it sounds weird. It was Mr. Sakata. Me and him started out as drinking buddies and just all-around good friends, you know he was trying to look out for the ‘newbie’ like me at first. One night we were at my apartment and me and him were having a few beers, just talking and hanging out, before he started coming on to me. I figured he probably was too drunk and really didn’t know what he was doing, but the point was I was still sober but despite that me and him still did some things that night. I only gave into him because I thought it’d make him like me. Eventually, we continued to do those things even when he was sober, and anyway I saw it I was fucking happy because I was getting love and attention from the person I loved, and I mean really loved. Or so I thought.”
“What happened after that?” Kaito inquired, becoming ingulfed in the story.
“Well this actually continued until some months ago, so you can imagine I was living a long time in denial. I thought he really loved me and that me and him we’re really in some kind of twisted relationship and he only stayed with his wife as a front. But eventually his wife got pregnant and they decided they wanted to start a family, and that was the perfect time to call it quits with me. He figured that we shouldn’t go on with all this running around any longer. And after me investing nearly three years in a so-called ‘relationship’, which was really more like friends-with-benefits, he still had his wife and I was alone right where I started. I really don’t blame him, and me and him are personally pretty cool although we really don’t spend time outside school together, we figured it’s just too easy to sink back into old habits. I guess the moral of this story is, sex doesn’t always equal love, and you can’t use sex to make someone love you either. That is the very reason why they tell kids to wait… or at least that’s the reason I’d tell my kids over pregnancy and STD’s and what not.”
Kojima looked over at his audience and noticed that he had begun to cry, despite himself. The teacher almost started to ask what was wrong, but glad he stopped himself. Something from his story obviously struck the kid emotionally, and despite the fact it was hard to watch him like this, he figured it would help to get to the source of the problem.
“I think I did the same thing, like a dumb ass, for practically like my whole life,” Kaito sobbed. “Me and Hachirou were practically born together, so it was natural despite our differences we were best friends. But somewhere along the line I knew I began to like him more than I should’ve. I mean we were freaking kissing by the time we were eight, so-called ‘exploring each other’s bodies’ by like ten or eleven, and-” he paused, before finally being able to get the last part out, “Well we had sex at thirteen, and he was my fucking first too. You think I would’ve realized something was up when he only wanted to ‘practice’ with me, since he’d never had sex before either but he wanted to impress his crush. But despite all that, I only agreed because of the very same reason- I wanted Hachirou to fucking fall in love with me! But the truth is, he doesn’t. I could tell he really loved Shouta, excusing their relationship’s untimely demise which was… undoubtedly my fault,” he confessed.
“Wait… how was their break-up your fault?” Kojima wondered.
“Well I really wanted to break them up ever since they started dating to tell you the truth. I saw my opportunity while Hachirou was away for the funeral, so I decided to call up an old friend of my sister’s who had a crush on Shouta, I got them to meet up for dinner. And somehow Shouta ended up having sex with-”
Before Kaito could finish, however, the classroom door was suddenly thrown open, as a blur of Hachirou flew into the room before knocking Kaito out of his chair, throwing him hard onto the floor. “What kind of best friend are you?!” the blond yelled, tears undoubtedly falling from his enraged face.
“What are you talking about?!” Kaito screamed, feeling very defenseless as he was trapped underneath his very angry (and very strong) friend.
Kojima was in shock, before he figured that Hachirou must’ve been by the door the entire time listening in.
“You fucking broke us up! You broke me and Shouta up, all because you were a jealous bastard! A true best friend wouldn’t do some shit like that!” Hachirou shouted in his fury. “I felt bad when I just heard you say how much you really loved me all along, I felt like I had unknowingly used you after all these years… but to break me and my first true love up is just the most dirty and disgusting thing I’ve ever seen you do!” Before he could hold himself back, his hand connected with the left side of Kaito’s face with a smack. Hachirou was angry enough that he clearly wanted to punch the boy, but he felt he was doing his best by holding back enough where he only smacked him.
“Your relationship was fucked up anyways! One, you were already cheating on him, and two, I didn’t make Shouta sleep with Nobu he just did!”
“The thing is you wanted this to happen! That’s almost like me saying I’m glad Haruki broke up with you, because honestly I don’t see how he even liked you, not this you. The old Kaito I could see him liking but this Kaito is a selfish bastard that’ll do anything to get what he wants and steps all over everyone just to get his way! But look at him now, he’s all alone and no one likes him anymore. His family’s given up on him because he’s treated them like nobodies all these years, his boyfriend broke up with him, and quite frankly his former best friend wants nothing to do with him anymore,” Hachirou concluded, before pushing Kaito away from him as he got up from the floor. He was halfway towards the door before he stopped and looked at him again, “Your mom must be very disappointed with the way you’ve changed.”
“Leave my mom out of this!” Kaito wailed, remaining virtually motionless as he sat on the floor, barely able to move.
“Hachirou, don’t you think you’ve said enough?” Mr. Kojima finally spoke, looking at the two emotional wrecks before him.
The older boy didn’t speak, he just stood in that same spot, giving his teacher a nasty look. Said teacher decided to ignore it, before instructing Hachirou to sit in one empty chair in front of his desk. “Apparently Kaito’s not the only one who needs to get some things off his chest, so you’re both going to sit here and listen to each other’s stories and you’re going to be calm and non-violent about it,” he ordered as he helped Kaito off the floor and gestered him towards another chair. Finally Kojima took his place in his rolling chair and took the floor. “Now, Kaito is going to speak first and Hachirou is not going to speak unless spoken to, understood?”
The two boys reluctantly nodded, before Kaito began to talk. “I agree with everything you said, Hachirou. And I know I just can’t justify breaking you two up because I loved you and I was jealous of Shouta for having you. But can’t we first of all agree that despite me wanting it to happen and initiating it, you two were most likely break up anyways due to circumstances?”
“I can agree with that,” Hachirou sighed.
“Second, can’t you somewhat emphathize with me for doing so, despite the fact I shouldn’t have?”
“I can understand why you did it,”
“Third, I really don’t want our life-long friendship to end over something like this, I really don’t. I was stupid and out of my mind and… and… I just want to work it out,” Kaito apologized.
“I want to too,” Hachirou confessed. “And I’m sorry I brought your mom into this, that was wrong.”
“I forgive you,”
“And mainly I just want you to remember that I only like you as a friend, but regardless when I asked you to ‘practice’ with me our first time, I had no clue you really had feelings for me or I wouldn’t have asked. Looking back now, I should’ve known better not to ask something like that of you at all, whether you liked me or not. Despite all that, everything that we’d done before the sex and everything… well at that age you really were the only person I ‘liked’ like that. It was kind of like puppy love almost, but by like twelve I outgrew it and I realized I didn’t really love you but we were already so into the experimenting I couldn’t bear to stop and like I said I should’ve known better… I was just using you,”
“Hachirou, we were kids, I don’t blame you not knowing any better over me not having the guts to just confess my feelings to you in the first place,”
“Well I just want you to know that sincerely, out of all the people I’ve known in the world, you and Shichirou are the two I felt never deserved to feel any pain, emotional or physically, and I especially never wanted to cause you both… I just know that you’re going to find that person out there for you one day who loves you unconditionally and I’m going to be there for you through everything. And besides, I think I already know who that person is, although I think you were just too blind to see it before,”
“Well I must be, because I have no clue who you’re talking about,”
Kojima looked at the two and smiled, because the truth was finally out in the open and he had helped get it out there. Hopefully their problems were pretty much resolved, because by now the teacher was worn out, stressed, hungry, and still had two more classes to teach. Thus, since the lunch period was due to be over in a couple minutes, he sent the two friends on their way.
Meanwhile, during that very lunch period that those three had missed, Shouta and Ryuunosuke were sitting together on the stairs, the basketball player actually welcoming this quiet time away from the other athletes for once. Sure, he knew they would laugh if they knew he was spending lunch with the quiet kid as opposed to them, and they’d probably get a hoot out of knowing that Ryuu actually liked having quiet lunches with Shouta from time to time, because the boy was just so relaxing to be around.
“I can’t wait until it gets warmer, then we’ll be able to eat outside for a change. I can’t stand all this cold march weather,” Shouta spoke, looking up at Ryuu.
“Right,” the green-haired boy agreed. “When it get’s cold the only thing I really have to look forward to is basketball season, but besides that it’s boring to be stuck inside all the time.”
“Well, have you been out to eat lately? I like to do that during the winter, maybe sometime you and I could go out together?” Shouta suggested.
Ryuu was confused, he wasn’t quite sure if this was Shouta’s way of asking him out on a date, or if it was just a legitimate suggestion. Well, none of his other friends had suggested they all go out to eat together, but his friends weren’t really the going-out-to-eat types either, unless going to get pizza counted. Since Shouta was now looking at him inquisitively, he figured he’d better just ask. “Are you suggesting me and you just hang out, or are you suggesting it as a date?”
“Well… if it’s alright with you… I was suggesting it as a date,” Shouta admitted, his cheeks reddening.
Ryuu wanted to just tell him yes right on the spot, looking at that cute face of his. He wouldn’t mind staring at it from across the table at some restaurant… or waking up to it every morning for the rest of his life. Wait… what the hell was he thinking about? Marriage?
He tried to break out of his thoughts, noticing that those pretty jet black eyes were once on him again, signaling he was taking way too long to answer. “Shouta, you know about me and my issues with dating don’t you?”
“Yes,” he replied, with a hint of disappointment in his voice.
“… I don’t want to tell you no,” Ryuu tried to reassure him.
“But the question is are you going to tell me yes or no?” Shouta explained, now making his slightly pouty face. He wasn’t doing it on purpose, but either way Ryuu was just a sucker for that face of his!
“Well I really should say no… but I just don’t wanna turn such a cute face down,” Ryuu confessed, before leaning in for the kiss he’d been wanting to do for a long time now.
Shouta was slightly shocked at first when the senior’s lips met his, but he quickly relaxed realizing he’d told him yes! The elusive Ryuunosuke who’s never agreed to go on a date with anyone said yes, and kissed him!
“So, my face saved me from a no?” Shouta questioned when their lips finally parted.
“Yep, pretty much,” Ryuu replied, teasing him.
“Not my personality or anything, just my face?”
“Well, your personality is just extra. It was really just your face though. But the fact you’re a pretty good kisser doesn’t hurt either. You have good kissing lips, I could kiss them all day long,”
“Now I’ve never gotten that as a compliment before,” Shouta laughed.
“You have good qualities, I could compliment them all day long,”
The two went into another fit of laughter, while Shouta was thinking he was very glad he listened to Furiko and would just have tell her the good news as soon as he got home.
Hachirou felt strangely lighter as he walked from school. Not in a physical way, but an emotional way. He felt as though all these noxious thoughts he had kept up in his mind had just been released from his mind, and now feels a thousand pounds lighter. He was happy too, because he felt like after the fight he and Kaito were better friends than before, strangely. Plus, he was going to get to finally see Mako after a long day of school.
He approached the school building he often walked past everyday, the school Shouta used to go to, and headed inside. He tried to find the conference room that Mako instructed him to go to in this unfamiliar building, and after a few minutes he finally found the room, conference room B.
As his hand turned the knob, he felt a strange wave of nervousness rush over him. What if his friends didn’t like him?
Upon seeing him, Mako made his way over to Hachirou and squeezed him lovingly. Not lovingly enough to be considered any more than friendly, however, which disappointed Hachirou slightly but he decided not to let it show.
“Everybody, this is my new friend Hachirou Kurogane, from Susumu!” Mako announced, and everyone turned to look at the newcomer.
“Mako, he’s so cute!” exclaimed one boy with spiked, bright platinum blond hair, sprinkled with various shades of brown.
‘He’s mine!’ Mako clearly mouthed, while Hachirou wasn’t paying attention of course.
“Hey nice to meet you, my name’s Takako by the way. And that is Ayaka right over there, my girlfriend,” a girl with black hair cut similar to Mako’s introduced herself, before pointing to a girl with long brown hair.
“But also you should meet Rikuto our club president,” Mako insisted, quickly dragging Hachirou away from the girls.
The club president looked rather like a club president should. He had short black hair, wore glasses, and was donning a sweater vest, typical “nerd” wear as Hachirou would call it. The only thing that threw him off was the fact that Rikuto had a fairly muscular build, like he works out from time to time. “Hey I’m Hachirou, like Mako already said of course,” he spoke, holding out his hand.
The president took it, responding, “I’m Rikuto, and I should formally welcome you to our G.L.E.E. Club.”
“Glee Club? As in singing?” Hachirou wondered.
“Nope. G.L.E.E. stands for Gays and Lesbians Embracing Existence! We’re happy to be who we are, so we’re the G.L.E.E. Club! Makes sense, huh?” Mako exclaimed.
“That’s a pretty nifty name, how’d you come up with it Rikuto?” Hachirou questioned.
“Actually Mako came up with it. Mako pretty much came up with the whole club in the first place. I’m only the president because he claims he doesn’t like to speak in front of people. Although half the time someone’s always interrupting me…” he hinted, looking towards Mako.
“You know, me and Rikuto met in a rather interesting way, just like me and you did Hachirou,” Mako began, changing the subject. “One day at random, when we were in the eighth grade, he just came up to me and said that he envies how ‘out there’ I am with my sexuality.”
“And that was before he started wearing skirts and tight clothes and grew his hair out,” Rikuto pointed out.
“That’s how I got the idea to start this club, so people wouldn’t feel afraid to be ‘out there’… or at the very least I just didn’t want people to be ashamed of their sexuality,” Mako continued on. “And I wanted to share this with you because you’re not afraid to be the athlete and the gay guy at the same time, and you don’t see that too often.”
“That’s awesome, I’m glad you invited me, actually,” Hachirou thanked him, grinning.
“Okay we’re going to have to get the meeting started,” Rikuto announced, clapping his hands together.
Once everyone all sat around the square table, Hachirou noticed the club was rather small, and in total only consisted of about seven people. But, their message was a good one, none the less.
“First issue, the students of the yearbook need our club pictures soon. Anyone have an idea for-”
“We should wear bright colors, lots of bright colors!” Mako broke out.
“Bright… colors…” Rikuto repeated, writing on the whiteboard. “Anything-”
“Hachirou should be in the picture!”
“…Mako, Hachirou can’t be in the picture. He doesn’t go to our school, remember?” Rikuto reminded him.
“That is just super unfair!” he pouted, from his spot sitting in Hachirou’s lap.
“Mako…” Rikuto sighed, looking at the boy he almost saw as his wayward little brother. “I’ll see what I can do, okay?”
“Thanks!” the smaller teen squeaked, smiling at Hachirou.
When the meeting was adjourned, Hachirou actually found himself talking to Takako, despite the fact he couldn’t stand most women. She was a real cool down-to-earth girl and he actually wouldn’t mind being friends with someone like her. He wondered if it was because she happened to be a boyish kind of girl, and a rather goth looking one at that. But still, he liked her, and he thought it was weird how Mako was friends with someone who was his absolute opposite. Even their names were opposite.
Takako, while talking to Hachirou, happened to notice the eager way Mako kept looking at Hachirou while he was talking to Rikuto. “Hachirou, I think Mako is ready to leave… with you.”
“Oh yeah, I guess so huh? It’s after five so we should get going anyways…” Hachirou chuckled, before looking at Mako and Mako returning the look.
Takako sighed, “Look, despite how cute it is to see you two act so awkward around each other, I think someone should say something. Probably you.”
“What is there to say?”
“Mako obviously likes you. He’s been clinging to you ever since you got here, and now that you’re not near him he keeps glancing at you. He likes you. And I think you like him, you were letting him sit in your lap for goodness sake. Now let’s exchange numbers, I wanna know how it all pans out,” Takako ordered, grinning.
Hachirou was surprised at how observant, and bossy, the girl was. But she was right, and he had no clue why he was having so much trouble making the first move. Maybe because making a move and putting on the moves were two different things entirely.
“If you say so,” the blond replied, stuffing his hands in his pockets and strolling casually over to where Rikuto and Mako were standing.
“Hey Rikuto, I had a nice time here and everything, and I’ll probably come back next week if that’s okay?” Hachirou questioned.
“Sure we don’t mind if you come, there are plenty of seats available for you if you decide to show up again. I’m sure Mako would be enthralled,” Rikuto laughed, glancing at the light haired teen.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Riku, me and Hachirou are about to go,” Mako announced, taking Hachirou by the arm and leading him out the room, then out the school.
They headed to the back, where the student parking lot was, and hopped in Mako’s car. Hachirou had been thinking that most likely Mako was just going to drop him off at home, but instead they bypassed his house, heading somewhere else.
“Where are we going?” Hachirou asked.
“The park,” Mako simply replied. He’d started to confess how he thought it’d be romantic to sit at the park together at sunset, but he decided to keep that to himself.
After he parked, Mako and Hachirou silently walked through the park, past the near-deserted playground area, until the older boy lead them to a secluded area where they proceeded to sit under a tree.
“Isn’t it nice here?” Mako questioned, glancing at Hachirou beside him. It was slightly chilly that night, but still considerably warm for mid-March. It wasn’t warm enough, however, where Mako wasn’t slightly regretting wearing a uniform skirt that day instead of pants (don’t ask).
“Yeah… It is,” Hachirou agreed absent-mindedly, thinking that this would be the perfect time to confess how he felt about the older boy. It wasn’t easy, however, forming the right words. What made things worse, was that Mako’s uniform skirt was ever so slightly hiked up in the back from how he was sitting, hiked up slightly enough where he could see his underwear, which was red, he noted.
This got Hachirou’s mind way off track, first thinking how he’d never imagined he’d see up a guy’s skirt. Second, he wondered if he wore men’s underwear, or women’s, because he knew there were men that would do as much. He wanted to find out for himself… but he had mentally promised himself that Mako wasn’t just going to be another quick fuck, he was going to take his time with this one.
“You know Hachirou I… I’m really glad you came today,” Mako said, trailing off from what he was originally going to say before he freaked out. “I like getting to go places and spend time with you, if I could I’d do it practically all the time…”
“Mako…” Hachirou sighed, leaning closer to the boy, who was sitting on his right side. The blond couldn’t get any words out anymore, so he decided to just let his actions do the talking and just kiss him. It was a simple kiss, quick, yet deep enough to convey the point. But after their lips parted, Mako caressed Hachirou’s face before pulling him in for a longer, more intense kiss than the first, almost as Mako was silently reciprocating Hachirou’s feelings.
It was unknown how much time had passed as the two were making out against the tree, Mako’s body now on top of Hachirou’s as their kisses quickly intensified. Unfortunately, it took everything Hachirou had to push Mako off of him, not wanting to go too far, for he feared he could because the friction of their bodies was making him get slightly aroused.
Mako rolled onto the grass with a thud, the fall causing his skirt to fly up enough where Hachirou could tell he was wearing women’s underwear, and rather pretty-looking underwear at that. In embarrassment, he quickly smoothed it down before questioning,” Why’d you push me down like that?”
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to make sure I didn’t get too carried away, with you all on top of me like that,”
“I’m… confused now,”
“What I mean is, I might be notorious for sleeping with a lot of people, but the thing is I don’t want you to become just one-of-those-people, I want to keep you with me longer than that,” Hachirou confessed, every word that left his mouth continued to feel lame however, and it made him worried that Mako wasn’t impressed.
Although after a brief moment, Mako smiled and hugged the blond. “I get it… thank you,” he whispered into his ear.
Hachirou felt like an idiot, for some strange reason. He hadn’t come off as smooth as he’d hoped, but regardless, he was an idiot that had the perfect boyfriend.

Love School Part 2: The Break-Up
Chapter Six: The Basketball Player, The Billionaire, and the Bug Part III
Kaito, much against his better judgment, went to Kojima’s during lunch. It didn’t matter about eating, he didn’t feel like eating anyways. It just that he really didn’t want to talk to much of anyone, especially Kojima. But Hachirou insisted it was for the best, so he would, even if he only ended up sitting there staring at the man for thirty minutes.Chapter Six: The Basketball Player, The Billionaire, and the Bug Part III
“Hey red, what’s up?” Mr. Kojima questioned, in a rather good mood for the ordinarily grumpy man.
