Alana had only gotten so far when she decided that the park was still a nice place to go an relax. It was still in the afternoon after all. She watched what had happened to Yori and she ran after him. The others weren't following and he was too fast for them to keep up anyways, but she could at least try. She followed him to a back way she had never been before. Her pace slowed and she ducked behind a wall. Peeking over, she saw him go into a house and a bunch of girls rush to him. They looked a lot like him which meant that they were probably his sisters. As he went inside she came out and walked over to a near by restaurant.

Grabbing a menu, she ordered a bunch of different things. "Can you have these delivered if I pay for them now?" The man nodded and she pulled him out of the store to show him the house. "Just take all the food there and tell the boy there that Alana is sorry about the other food."

Again he nodded and she gave him a few extra bucks for the trouble. Going back to the wall she watched the man deliver the food. She smiled as she watched the little girls jumping up and down at the smells. Quietly, she started back the way she came.

Yori couldn't understand what happened. One minute he was explaining to his sister how sorry he was that he'd caused trouble, the next someone was delivering food to them. His little sisters were so excited to be getting such food. They really weren't accustomed to it. The young Eldarian's eyes widened when the delivery guy told him the message.

"Who's Alana?"

Yori looked over at his sister and motioned to the trampled box of food. "She was the human girl who treated me to lunch and bought that for us. I guess she must have bought this as well. She's a nice human, sis! Not at all like the others."

His sister smiled as she took some of the food and handed it down to the little girls who jumped up and down and started eating the food. "Most humans aren't that great, Yori. Be careful who trust."

Yori just smiled. "You worry too much, Midori. I can take care of myself. Now eat up before the food gets cold."

Midori sighed. The food smelled so good, so she gave in to her little brother's request. Soon they were all laughing. Full stomachs went a long way toward making people happy.

Alana went to school the next day, but ditched her final class like always. She hated school so much with their stupid computer teachers and dumb deadlines. She felt like she was in an office rather than in school. She sat there for hours on end. Even though school only last until twelve, it was still too long. What would she use half the crap she learned from there anyways?

She threw her bag over the fence and started to climb it. She had five minutes before the security guard came back to the area she was at and as long as she got over the fence, she was free.

The guard whistled as he picked up her book bag and watched her climb the fence. "And just where do you think you're going today?"

"Damn it, Harry! You are suppose to be gone for another five minutes! This is bull shit!" she pouted as she jumped off the fence. "Just let me go this one time."

Harry chuckled and tossed her bag back over the fence. "No can do. The last time I allowed you to leave they threatened to dock my pay. You only have an hour left. Just go to the office and fake being sick like all the normal kids do when they want out of school."

"Harry, I'll give you a hundred bucks to just pretend you never saw me," Alana pleaded. "Come on! I'm going to die here!"

Harry sighed. "Fine. Get out of here. I never saw you," he muttered.

Alana smiled, threw her bag over again, and crawled over the fence. She handed Harry the hundred. "Thanks so much, big guy!" she said before grabbing her bag and running off.

"Don't mention it. Really! Don't mention it!" he called out as she ran. Stuffing the money in his pocket he just shook his head. That was by far the strangest girl he'd met in quite some time.

Alana threw her hands in the air. Even if it was only an extra hour earlier than the rest of the school, it was an hour she loved. She walked up to her normal food stand and talked to Jean. She always stopped to talk to Jean and order some of her food.

"Stop ditch, Alana. You need an education," Jean said and handed Alana some strange food on a stick.

"For what? I have a huge trust fund and if I eventually use it all up, then I don't mind getting a job and working for my food," Alana said while chewing.

"How will you get a job without an education?"

"The Eldarians do it all the time. I can be no different."

"They are born smart, Alana. Their brain just works that way."

"Stop complain, Jean. I'm not your kid so you don't have to worry about me ruining your life," she said and put some money on the table. "Later," she waved and walked away while still eating.

Yori groaned as he lifted the large metal slab onto the buildings side. After fastening it like the boss showed him how, he quickly flipped off of the second story and landed on the ground. He started to get the next piece of metal when he heard a familiar voice on the holoscreen. Poking his head inside the window, he saw his dad talking about equal rights for all races. As more and more aliens started coming to Earth, eventually the federation would find out that the races weren't getting along.

Earth just opened up a new port for the Lemurians, as well as the Argonians. Yori had only seen their kind once or twice, but neither race was particularly friendly. He didn't think it would end well, but what did he care?

Grabbing the next sheet of metal, he hoisted it onto his shoulders and climbed back up to the second story so he could finish work and go relax.

Alana went back to the park and sat in the same spot she sat in the day before. Off to the side she could see some Eldarian kids playing. They stopped when they spent Alana's food. Slowly their eyes turned to her. She stood and walked over to them. At first the backed away as if she was going to strike them. She held out the food on a stick. They hesitated.

"It's ok. You can take it. Go on," she said.

They smiled and took it from her. A few seconds later their mother showed up. "What do you say to the nice human?"

"Thank you lady," they all said together.

Alana smiled. "You're welcome."

Yori was eager to get his pay and get out of there. The human shorted him a few bucks, but he didn't mind. It was nap time! After waving goodbye, he quickly bounded off to the park. He'd told his sister he'd be extra careful to avoid the humans, so he stuck to mainly traveling by roof and alleys. All he needed was for one of the humans to scan his collar. Landing in the grassy park, he took a large breath of air before going over to his spot. The sun was just perfect today!

Stretching, he was soon curled up peacefully on the grass. This was heaven.

Alana roughly pushed Yori over and laid down in the spot he was just in. "I claimed it before you, fish boy."

Yori jumped up rubbing his head. It took him a second to realize what had just happened. "Hey! That's my spot," he growled. "I thought you were gonna quit stalking me!"

"You are stalking me," she said as she stretched out on the grass. "I was here before you, but I gave some kids some food so I had to leave for a second."

Yori crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. "I'm not stalking you!" He stopped as his ears flattened. "You're the one who followed me home last night!" His face softened for a moment as he laid down in the un-sunny spot. She'd given his sister's food. He guessed that she could have his spot for today. "Why is it that you hang out in Eldarian parks anyways?"

Alana rolled over. "Take the spot, fish boy. It's just a silly spot on the grass." She rolled away from him on her side and looked at all the Eldarian children playing. "I have my reasons."

Yori was eager to get his spot back, but instead he hesitated. "Well, whatever your reasons are it seems that you've made some Eldarians very happy." Even as he said this the Eldarian children which she gave food to came running up to her with flowers they'd picked. As soon as they saw Yori they smiled even bigger.

"Yori!!" The children screamed as a few of them tackled him to the ground. The others shyly handed Alana the flowers they'd picked.

"Thanks for the food, it was really yummy!"

Alana sat up. She put the flowers in her hair. "They are very lovely. Thank you," she said.

Yori had two little kids hanging off his arms and one was on his shoulders tugging at his ears. "Hey! Stop that!" he laughed, trying to get the little monsters off of him. Looking over at Alana, he smirked and whispered something to the kid on his head.

All the little kids turned and quickly jumped on Alana, laughing as they did so.

Yori was rolling on the ground laughing as eight tiny tails were waving madly as they hugged onto the rich girl. "See, you made the kids very happy."

"Ah!" Alana said and stood. She wasn't use to kids and she wasn't use to them hanging on her. "Ok...away little demons!" she said and they laughed at her. She looked at Yori for help. "How do I make them stop?"

Yori smiled and quickly hopped to his feet. "Okay guys, I think Alana has had enough." He gently tugged on each of their tails causing them to fall to the ground. "Run along and play or else I'll make you taste my claws." He began to laugh menacingly and the young kittens quickly scampered away while laughing.

Alana dusted herself off. "They are very...active...." she said. She looked over at him. "I wanted to ask you if you have a job. I have some odd and ends that need taking care of at my place and I can't do it alone. I'll pay you really well and I'll even buy your meals," she said.

Yori looked at her. A business proposition? His sister's warning came back to him about humans, but Alana was different. She was nice. "If you have work to do I'll be happy to do it," he said with a smile. "I just finished my last job, and I was going to actually go out and look for another."

Alana nodded. "I have a really big house and it could take some time to get all the work done. But for as long as you work for me, I'll make sure your family has food on their table and you have money in your pocket." She pushed her hair behind her ear. "I've never made a deal with an Eldarian before so if you want me to meet your parents or something first I can do that...how old are you exactly?"

Yori stopped and started counting on his fingers. "Let's see umm...carry the one add the two...." He stopped and nodded. "I should be about eighteen give or take a month or two."

Alana was a little shocked. "I couldn't tell with the way you act. I figured you were younger." She shrugged. "Do I have to meet you family? I'll bring food if it helps."

Yori didn't know if he should take what she'd just said as a compliment or an insult. "No, you don't have to. It's nothing as formal as that. Mainly when humans need jobs done that they can't do or don't want to do they just ask us." He shrugged. "We work. We get paid. That's about it unless you go to one of the larger cities where they have contracts for our help."

Alana nodded. "I don't know much about Eldarians or how things work for you...so I'm not sure how or what I'm suppose to do. Tomorrow's Friday and I don't have school until Tuesday through Thursday. I'm in school until twelve on those days, but anytime after that or on the days I'm not in school will work for me. You can pick your own hours and start whenever you like. Am I suppose to pay you a little in advance?"

Yori looked confused at first but shook his head. "I've never gotten paid until the work is done," he told her. "I can work whenever you need me to. Just show me what you want done and I can do it."

Alana smiled. "Well, I think I'll pay you a bit in advance." She grabbed his tail and played with it a bit. "Follow me, fish boy," she said and lightly tugged on his tail until he was following her. She took him to a sushi place and ordered a bunch of things to go. "You have cute little sisters. It must be nice to have such a large family." The owner gave her four large backs of food. "I'll walk with you until we get on your street so you don't get in trouble again. But think of this as your first payment," she said smiling. "Come on. I'm sure your family will be happy to see you."

Yori blushed lightly as she tugged on his tail to make him follow her. She had no idea just how sensitive those things were. The sushi looked great, and he had to remind himself not to eat it then and there. "Yeah, having a large family is nice," he said as he carried the food. "But most Eldarian's have large families." He couldn't wait for his sisters to meet Alana.

As soon as they got close to home he grabbed her hand and began to pull her toward his house. "Sis!" He said cheerfully. "I have more food."

Midori was wiping her hands on a towel. Setting the two little girls down she turned to see Yori and Alana standing in the doorway. She forced a smile on her face. "You must be Alana. I don't know how to thank you for your generosity."

"I'm working for Alana now," Yori told her as he put the food on the table. Hefting his little sisters up they quickly began to look through the food boxes.

"Ren. Ran. Tell Alana thank you."

The two girls smiled; already their mouths were full of sushi. "Tank you!" they said, their little tails swooshing happily.

Alana looked nervous. She said she would go with him as far as his street...now she was in his house. How in the world did that happen!?!

"I...umm...your welcome," she finally said. The two smaller ones looked like twins. They had little pig tails in their hair with ribbons. Their small ears moved about listening to everything. Alana looked at Yori. "I should go. Enjoy the meal."
