Yori was practically jumping up and down when his name was called. Time to go for it! Going out to the arena, he smiled behind his mask as the others cheered.

"Haden!" The crowd erupted into chants.

"Alright folks, making his triumphant return is Haden! Who's his opponent you ask? None other than our own Ophelia!"

Yori's smile fell as he was quickly tackled by a blur of motion. Looking up from his mask, he stared into familiar golden eyes. "Ophelia?"

Her claws stopped inches from his face. "Yori? But...what are you? You're suppose to be Haden!"

Yori smiled and quickly shoved her off so that he could hug her. "Ophelia!"

The crowd was silent. What was this? Why weren't they fighting?

"Down boy," Ophelia said as she pushed him away."We're suppose to be fighting."

"But I can't fight you!"

Ophelia smirked as she popped her claws out. "Too bad," she snickered as she sliced at his chest.

Alana watched as the scene unfolded. Her body tensed as she watched him hug the girl. She tapped Gil's shoulder. "I want down," she said.

He helped her down. "Leaving so soon? But you might miss the guy you are looking for."

"I already did," she said in a low, sad voice and started out. She didn't get to see him get slashed at as she left the arena and started for home.

That night, Haden was defeated. Not because he couldn't beat Ophelia, but because he wouldn't fight her. He wouldn't fight a friend, especially not one that he liked. He was covered in blood and his ears were torn lightly, but he was smiling as he hugged her. "Ophelia, I've missed you!"

Opehlia just groaned and pushed him back. "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good to see you too."

Yori smiled at her. She was just so pretty! "So, since you're here do you want to go get something to eat? I can pay!"

She smiled at him. Free food? Why not. "Sure thing handsome."

Yori was smiling ear to ear. Getting bandaged up could wait. He had a date with Ophelia!

Alana spent the next week in school. She didn't skip and she didn't ignore her assignment. She even did her home work. Her computer teachers were shocked and so were her class mates. Alana went home, never stopping at the park. She spent her days doing her yard work and tinkering with the robots to see if she could fix them. Of course, she had no idea what she was doing, but before Yori had come around, this was a normal thing for her. And now that he was gone, there was no reason to not do what she had always done.

Yori reached for Ophelia's hand as they walked down the street. As soon as he grabbed it she quickly pulled it away, causing him to pout. "Why can't I hold your hand?"

"Because," she smiled as she caressed his ear, causing him to blush. She was going to say something, but judging by the look on his face, there was no need to. He was already puddy in her very capable hands.
"Ophelia," Midori said coldly as they came to her house. "You're not welcome here."

"Don't be like that, sis! Ophelia's my girlfriend."
Midori's jaw dropped. Her eyes narrowing as she glared at Ophelia. "Is she now?"

"Yep!"

"Yori, why don't you go inside and get some food ready for Ophelia and me?"

Yori knew that tone. He sighed and went inside. As soon as he was inside Midori went to mother mode. Her claws lowered as she pointed at Ophelia. "What are you doing with him?"

Ophelia just laughed. "Nothing. I'm only in town for a week or so before I move on. Your little brother is still enamored with me, so I'm just reaping the benefits of that."

Midori growled. "So you're just using him? You're going to break his heart again when you leave!"

Ophelia shrugged. "So?"

The expression 'cat fight' didn't even begin to describe what happened next as the two females suddenly found themselves tearing each other apart. Yori quickly moved in between them as soon as he heard the fight start. Being in between the two fierce felines, didn't end well for him, as he got badly clawed in the process.
"Stop it," he said, trying to hold them back. His eyes started to turn yellow.... Grabbing both of their wrists he twisted and threw them both to the ground. "I said stop it!" His fangs lowered as he growled at them.

The two females stopped and stared at him. Fear covered their faces for a few brief moments before Midori finally found the courage to speak.

"It's okay Yori," Midori said soothingly. Standing up, she smoothed out her clothes and began to gently rub Yori's head. "It's okay...."

Alana looked over at the park. It had been a week since she had seen Yori. Did he think of her? Glancing over at the spot in the sun where she and Yori use to sit she sighed. No, he didn't think of her and she wouldn't think of him. It was forbidden. Doing this, feeling this, all of it was forbidden.

"Alana!"

Alana turned around and looked at one of her classmates running to her. He was handsome but he was the kind of person she didn't care much for. Then again...what kind of person did she care for? He ran up to her and smiled.

"God! You are hard to find after school," he said. "Look, I'm just going to come out and say it. Will you go to dinner with me?" Alana rolled her eyes. "I know you don't go out and you don't socialize but you've been coming to school and doing your work so I thought maybe you were changing a bit."

Alana turned back around and started walking. The boy sighed. "What's your name again?" Alana asked as she walked, not bothering to turn and face him.

He smiled and walked after her. "Vince."

"Ophelia, go home," Midori ordered once they got Yori back inside. "Before I let him go feral just to watch him tear you apart."

Ophelia rolled her eyes. "Fine. I'll leave." She turned to Yori. "Bye cutie," she winked.

Midori grabbed her arm and pulled her back. "Listen to me," she hissed. "You stay away from him. He's got someone else that he likes. Someone that actually cares about him. You're not going to screw this over!"

Ophelia stopped and actually started laughing. "Who could care about that idiot?"

Midori thought for a moment. Ophelia had called her bluff. "A girl by the name of Alana," she said.

"I know the Eldarians here. There is no Alana that's a...." She stopped. "A human name!" Her eyes got wide with glee. "Oh this is just fantastic! I'm going to have fun with this."

"It's not what you think," Midori said quickly, but already the damage was done. Ophelia was off, and she couldn't stop her.

Alana let Vince push her against a wall in her house while his hands lifted her body up, making her legs come up to his sides. His lips trailed kisses over her neck but she was bored. Why wasn't she enjoying this? Wasn't sex suppose to be enjoyable? Alana pushed on his bare chest and he moved back, letting her legs touch the ground again. She pulled up the strap on her bra that had fallen and fixed her skirt while he stood in front of her only in his jeans.

"Why are we stopping?" Vince asked while panting. He was worked up and she was denying him.

"Because I'm bored," she started bluntly. She threw his shirt at him. "Leave," she said and started upstairs.

It was night time. Yori knew what he was doing was dangerous, but his sister had told him to go. He didn't have much of a choice. Apparently Ophelia was doing to do something bad, and he couldn't be there for it. His eyes seemed to shine in the darkness as he saw someone come out of Alana's house. Why was he half naked? Shaking his head, he waited for the person to leave before going to Alana's door. He was nervous. Why was he nervous?

He knocked on the door and then hide to the side so no one would see him.

Alana came down the stairs, still not wearing her shirt. "If you left something..." she started but stopped when she opened the door and saw Yori. "Fish boy?" She looked behind him then to the sides. If anyone saw him they would be in trouble. "Come," she said ushering him in quickly. She closed the door and turned to him. "This is forbidden. Why are you here?"

It was obvious that he was nervous by the way that he played with his tail in his hands. "Ophelia is going to do something bad," he said slowly, reciting what his sister had told him to say. That notion quickly fell out when he realized that she wasn't wearing a shirt. Staring at her bra, he looked back down at his tail. "Sis wanted me to lay low for a while, but we don't really have anywhere else to go. So...I was wondering...if I could stay in your pool house for just a day or two. I promise it'll be like I wasn't even there."

He still couldn't believe that Ophelia was actually going to do something, but his sister had never lied to him before.

Alana grabbed his hand and pulled him upstairs. He was bleeding. Something had cut him. "Who is Ophelia?" she asked as she sat him on her bed. She went to her bathroom and grabbed her first aid kit and started to clean up his wound. "And why would she send you here?"

"Ophelia is...was...my girlfriend. I think." He sighed. He'd been a fool again. Just because Ophelia was pretty and was nice to him didn't mean anything. His ears lowered as she began to bandage up his wounds. "Well...it was more like she was using me to get stuff." Shaking his head, he forced a smile. "Sis didn't really know where to send me. She just said that I didn't need to be there. So I suggested that I come here. After all, it's been a while since we got to be together; and I enjoy being with you."

Alana sighed. "Your sister was right. You are too trusting. And rather stupid to risk everything to come here." She stood. She unzipped her skirt and let it fall to the ground. Grabbing a silk, short house coat, she put it on and closed it with a tie. She put the first aid kit up and turned to him. "You need to stay here, in the main house. I can't risk you being in the pool house and someone peeking over my fence only to see you." She sat next to him. "You are so foolish. I don't understand why you have come here." She grabbed his ear and started rubbing it. "But you are here now so what is done is done."

He started purring as she rubbed his ear. He wanted to pull away, to save himself some pride, but it felt good. Finally he had to pull away or she was going to put him to sleep. "I don't want to cause you trouble. I can go somewhere else if you want. I'm pretty resourceful. I'm certain I can find somewhere else to stay for a few days."

"No. You have already come this far," she said and stood again. She walked to the other side of the room and opened a pair of doors, swinging them wide. It was another room connected to hers. "You can sleep there. Help yourself to anything you need and want. Stay away from windows and please," she said coming to him, moving her face close to his, "do not go outside."

Yori nodded, his cheeks blushing slightly. "I'm not dumb," he said sticking out his tongue at her. "I won't let anyone see me. Being stealthy is just one of my many talents." Hopping off of her bed, he looked at the room and then to her. "Thank you," he said. For once the goofy grin from his face was gone. "If there's anything I can do.... I mean, if anything's wrong with the house I'll fix it for you. Free of charge." He smiled, his eyes drifting over her body once more even as he looked at the ground. Ophelia was beautiful, but there was something about Alana which made his ears perk up and his heart beat race.

Alana walked over to him. This was forbidden...everything about it was...but... She reached over and hugged him. "Don't worry, Yori..." for once calling him by his name, "I'm not going to use you and you can stay here as long as you like. Just...be careful."

Yori was surprised. Humans and Eldarian...they didn't hug.... He wasn't certain what to do, but he returned the hug. He was staying there, the least he could do was hug her back. His cheeks were red as he they pulled away. "Goodnight, Alana," he said. His tail wrapped around her leg, and he quickly pulled it back with a small laugh. "I'm um...I'd better go to bed so you can get some sleep."

Alana watched him walk to the bed in the other room. She left the doors open and got in her bed. How could it have come to this? How did it come to having an Eldarian in her home, under her roof? She rolled in her bed, facing the wall. They could both be killed for this. His would be quick and she would suffer to remind the humans of how great treason was. And it was treason...very much so.
