Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ The Final Chance ❯ Chapter Thirteen: Morning Discoveries ( Chapter 14 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Disclaimer: Oi, it took me a bit longer to write this chapter… possibly because I've recently become addicted to the Labyrinth fandom *sweatdrop* Man, do I get obsessed over things easily or what? But honest to god, I haven't watched the movie in, like, three or more years, and then suddenly Tokyo pop comes out with what seems to be a continuation of it and my curiosity gets to me, “I wonder if there's any good Labyrinth fan fiction out there?” Of course I went looking, and I've been reading through a ton this week.
I swear, any story or movie or whatever that has a really good pairing, or really good POSSIBLE pairing, like Jareth and Sarah from Labyrinth, I GET HOOKED. Which is why I finally re-watched the movie this morning (cursing the stupid commercials that came with it, as it was taped off YTV when I like, ten or something, I don't even remember anymore), and I fell in love with it and it's characters. Even though I'd love to write a story of my own for it, all the ideas I can think of have probably been done and, as such, I'll simply work on this more and start the two new fantasy ideas I have.
Wow, that was a long author note! XD Anyways, my last comment will be this:
If you've never watched, or heard of, the movie Labyrinth staring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, WATCH IT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. It's an older film, but it's one of the best fantasy stories out there.
Enough from me. Enjoy the chapter!
Chapter Thirteen: Morning Discoveries
The next morning was surprisingly clear, the storm having moved on sometime during the night and left the sun to shine bright. The golden streams of light filtered through the navy blue blinds of Ryleigh's bedroom window, the two having been so caught up the night before to remember to close them. Facing the window, Ryleigh's nose scrunched up when the light fell across her closed eye lids, uniquely coloured eyes blinking open sleepily. Snuggling back into the warm body that held her, Ryleigh felt Zade's arms tighten around her waist and sighed happily, content to stay there in his embrace.
Being held so lovingly gave Ryleigh a sense of happiness and content that she'd never known before. She felt so safe when she was with Zade, and just being near him seemed to calm her worries. Before him, no one had ever held her so tightly. Nathaniel was like her brother, but he'd never hugged her any tighter than a true brother would. Her parents had never even hugged her, let alone held her and comforted her during a thunderstorm. Zade was different; from the first time she'd met him, Ryleigh had felt a connection to the red head. He'd worried about her when she was sad and confused, and had held her and comforted her during the thunderstorm on Christmas break.
Zade had been there for her from the first time they'd set eyes on each other, Ryleigh realized with a start. She couldn't even really remember now why she'd hated him so much that first day of class, and decided that she had just been overly cautious. Ryleigh had never had a boyfriend before Zade, strange as that may have seemed to a number of people. She'd always refuse the dates she was asked on, never able to see the boys who asked as anything more then friends, if that. But Zade… Zade had stolen her heart the moment he'd looked at her with those deep, honey eyes, feeling as though he could see right into her soul. Her heart felt as though it would burst from happiness every time he kissed or held her, and now that they were dating she could freely show him that happiness.
Swallowing, Ryleigh suddenly felt the need to be closer to him. Not closer as in emotionally, but as in physically. These new feelings surprised and scared her, but that fear soon drifted away as she opened her eyes and looked up to gaze at Zade's peaceful face, the red head still sleeping, a smile plastered across his lips. Even though she and her mother weren't exactly fond of each other, Jenna had still found the time to give Ryleigh `the talk' when she turned thirteen.
“Only have sex and be intimate with the man you plan on spending the rest of your life with,” she remembered her mother's words clearly, the elder woman smirking simply before continuing, “Or, at least use a ton of protection.”
Shaking her head, Ryleigh smiled wistfully. Though she didn't know exactly what the depth of Zade's emotions for her were, the blonde was sure of hers. She wasn't completely sure of when, or even how she'd managed to fall in love with the red head, but she had fallen. Hard. Ryleigh knew that she'd never be able to feel this for any other man, and the thought that, perhaps, Zade was the one she would spend the rest of her life with sent her heart into a joyous frenzy. Blinking back to reality, Ryleigh acted upon impulse and leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss on the center of his chest.
Zade murmured in his sleep, shifting, but not waking up. Encouraged, the blonde continued to press kisses against her boyfriend's chest, not noticing when Zade's eyes opened blurrily to gaze down at her.
At first, Zade thought he was still asleep. In reality, Ryleigh would never be so bold… would she? The red head held back a groan as she suddenly grew bolder, leaving her lips against his skin for a few seconds longer before continuing the process. Realizing that he was, indeed, awake, and that Ryleigh really was kissing his chest in a very seductive manner, Zade knew he had to stop her when he felt himself stirring below the belt. He didn't want to end up messing up the best thing that had ever happened to him.
“Trying to seduce me in my sleep, are you?” Ryleigh jumped at the huskily voiced question, looking up at her boyfriend innocently.
“Um… good morning?” she batted her eyes sheepishly, drawing a deep chuckle from Zade that sent shivers up and down her spine.
“Good morning to you too, ma cherie,” leaning down and pressing his lips briefly to Ryleigh's, Zade pulled back and smirked at the blondes sudden dazed expression, her fingers drifting up to touch her lips.
“I didn't know you spoke French…” she murmured vaguely, eyes coming back into focus.
“I know a few languages,” he admitted, “French, Italian, Spanish, and a bit of German because my Dad made me take it in high school.”
“Wow, I only know English and French,” Zade shrugged, surprising Ryleigh when he suddenly climbed over her to get to the edge of the bed. She froze when she felt something hard brush briefly against her leg as he moved, but brushed it off as her imagination.
Zade turned and leaned down to catch her lips in a chaste kiss before pulling away again, smirking once more as his girlfriend's eyes turned glassy.
“Since I don't have any clean clothes here, I'm gonna head home to change and meet you at class,” the red head turned and quickly made his way out of the room, heading home for a very cold shower and a change of clothes.
Ryleigh blinked before smiling slightly and getting up to get dressed, heading out shortly after to head over to the campus, her mood having been permanently lifted for the day.
Not expecting Zade to be at the class yet, Ryleigh yelped when, upon entering the door, an arm hooked around her waist and swung her around, Zade sweeping her into a passionate kiss. Face sufficiently red by the time he pulled away, Ryleigh sent the red head a false glare and huffed when he simply grinned in reply, both ignoring the jealous stares they were getting from the other students. Deveau laughed, reminding both of what they had wanted to ask her.
“Prof, would it be alright if we painted together from now on?” Ryleigh asked simply, Zade coming to stand beside her.
“We'll continue to paint on large canvases if you like, but we paint better when we're both working on the same painting,” he added, the professor simply smiling at the both of them.
“It's fine with me.”
