Chapter 2:

Backlash

 

Katsuhito Masaki also known to most of the galaxy as Yosho, The Crown Prince of Jurai was nervous. A woman that he had an affair with 20 years ago had just written a very shocking letter with a favor asked.

 

The favor being asked was to let his son, Ranma, which he had never met to stay with them as well as his girlfriend. When Katsuhito had read why this favor was being asked he could understand the reasons behind Nodoka's favor of him.

 

Katsuhito was nervous, extremely so. He had not revealed to anyone what had happened between him and a woman he considered very beautiful and sexy.

 

Katsuhito was very glad about the affair after the first night or so. Nodoka behind all her properness was an extremely passionate woman in bed. His eyes lit up with pleasure as he recalled the things he and the red-haired woman did in bed.

 

The priest also was glad that the letter mentioned Ranma was getting out of Nerima and away from Genma. Nodoka was also getting a divorce from Genma and considering the record the police had on him it would be easy even with the resistance from Nodoka's parents.

 

Now all he had to do was tell Tenchi and the girls of what happened 20 years ago. Katsuhito sighed and looked up to the heavens for answers as he walked down the steps of the shrine.

Tenchi and the girls were having a good time eating some watermelon and enjoying the fresh breeze blowing across the lake. A young looking woman with long red hair in a crab style noticed Tenchi's grandfather first.

 

“Katsuhito did you stop by to join us for some watermelon?” Washu asked.

 

“No I didn't.” The priest answered. “I just came to tell you that we will be having two guests staying with us for awhile.”

 

“But Grandpa, what about the fact that most of the people staying here are not from around here?” Tenchi asked.

 

“These two guests are from Nerima.” Katsuhito replied.

 

“NERIMA!!!” Tenchi shouted.

 

“You know about this Nerima place Tenchi?” Sasami asked with her pink eyes wide.

 

Every girl there knew that Tenchi rarely raised his voice like that. This Nerima place must be something else to get that reaction out of Tenchi. Ayeka, Ryoko, Washu, Mihoshi, and Kiyone were looking at Tenchi with a surprised look on their faces.

 

“I know of it Sasami.” Tenchi answered. “It's called the martial arts capital of Tokyo and the weirdness that I have heard from it would be unbelieveable.”

 

“What kind of things have you heard about it Tenchi?” Washu asked.

 

“People changing shape with water, martial artists that throw out energy attacks, monsters, a crazy principal with a Hawaii fetish that loves to shave people bald at Furinken High in Nerima. The main player in all this craziness is a guy named Ranma Saotome and the things I've heard about him are just too unreal.” Tenchi said. Seeing the questioning looks on everyone's face Tenchi explained further. “He throws out energy attacks, creates tornadoes, has girls that want him in the sack, and several rivals out for his blood. There is even word going around that he killed a god a little while ago in China but it is just a rumor.”

 

The girls wear shocked at what Tenchi was saying.

 

“So these two guests finding out we are not from Earth would not phase them at all.” Tenchi finished.

 

“Some of those crazy stories about Nerima are true.” Katsuhito said and the girls who were just recovering from their shock got shocked again.

 

“Ranma Saotome and the Chinese Amazon Xian Pu or Shampoo for those who can't pronounce her name right are our guests.” Katsuhito said. Ayeka noticed her brother fidget a little.

 

“What is it, brother?” Ayeka asked. “You would not be this nervous if they were just average guests.”

 

Katsuhito took a deep breath and sighed.

 

“You are right Ayeka.” Katsuhito said and took another breath to gather his courage. “Ranma Saotome is my biological son.”

 

“WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

 

“You better explain this grandpa.” Tenchi demanded and Yosho gulped as he saw all the girls nod.

 

“It all happened twenty years ago. It was about six years after the death of your grandmother my wife that this all started.

 

“Nodoka Miyazaki was forced to marry a worthless man by the name of Genma Saotome through an arrange marriage.” The priest started the story. “Nodoka at the time resisted the marriage but in the end married Genma. The reason Nodoka resisted was the fact that she knew of Genma and knew he was foul and repugnant person. He had no good qualities at all. He was dishonorable, cowardly, and he would betray you for 50 yen if he could. Nodoka tried to get out of it since she knew that Genma was basically an ugly and repulsive man but nothing she did worked. During the honeymoon Genma spent most of his time drinking with Soun celebrating he had married a `rich broad from a wealthy family' as he put it. You can imagine Nodoka's reaction to that.

 

“I first met Nodoka when she was crying her heart out because Genma and her family had destroyed her dreams of her marrying a handsome samurai. It was during one of these crying sessions that she was almost mugged and raped in a park when I saved her from the muggers. I saw how depressed Nodoka was and tried to help her.

 

“She told me how all her dreams of the future were ruined by a foul and repulsive man named Genma and how he was spending the honeymoon drinking with Soun celebrating he had a rich broad as a wife. She was desperate for love and that night after I had saved her she seduced me and we made passionate love.

 

“I honestly was against this but seeing how depressed Nodoka was I was afraid if I rejected her she would commit suicide from how bad her life was.

 

“We continued our affair for about two weeks after that night until Genma and Nodoka had to move away because of some unpaid bills Genma had but we still kept in touch with letters. However we didn't mention our affair in the letters in case Genma found those letters.

 

“A few months later after the last time we met Nodoka realized she was pregnant with my child and decided to keep the child. It was a reminder to her of the beautiful time we had together.” Katsuhito paused and everyone could see the tears in his eyes. Tenchi and the girls were stunned by this story and felt sorry for Nodoka. Katsuhito continued. “That child was named Ranma. For the last twenty years Ranma thought he was Genma's son and I know of Ranma thanks to letters Nodoka sent to me. It wasn't that hard to trick Genma into thinking that Ranma was his son. I kept on getting letters and pictures of him till he reached five years of age when Genma kidnapped him plus stole all the money in the house and left a seppuku pledge on the kitchen table for Nodoka to find.

 

“Genma didn't have Nodoka's permission to take Ranma on that accursed training trip. He basically kidnapped Ranma and stole all the money in the house. Nodoka went to the police but Genma had told them not to bother with her complaint since he was the husband of the woman and the child was his so her permission was not needed. Thanks to him Nodoka couldn't use the authorities to find you and put you in her care. Nodoka tried to get a divorce but she stopped realizing Genma would still have Ranma so she did nothing until rumors popped up about Ranma.

 

“In any case Nodoka is telling Genma the truth about Ranma and she is sending him her along with his girlfriend from China.” Yosho took a deep breath. “Tenchi, Ayeka I'm not asking for forgiveness right now but I am asking for understanding. I was feeling a little lonely and so was Nodoka.”

 

“I understand Grandpa.” Tenchi said with a smile. “But you must understand you just dropped a huge bomb on all of us. It will take some time accept this.”

 

Ayeka was torn up inside. She could understand why this had happened but still.

 

“I'm a little angry at what you revealed but I can understand what happened 20 years ago.”

 

All the other girls were shocked and amazed at this revelation of Yosho's.

 

“By the way Kiyone, Mihoshi can I ask a huge favor?” Katsuhito asked.

 

“You want us to keep quiet about Ranma being your son so no reports to headquarters right?” Kiyone asked. Kiyone glanced at her partner Mihoshi who nodded slightly. “Ok Katsuhito we will keep silent about this.”

 

Tsunami had known about Ranma but hearing Yosho's version of events was a little startling. Tsunami realized things were about to get interesting around this house again.

Back in Nerima Ranma and a certain amazon named Shampoo had been missing for the last few days. No one could find them and everyone was resting from the search in the Tendo dojo.

 

They were surprised when Nodoka came in with a videotape and told everyone to follow her if they wanted to know what was going on.

 

Nodoka inserted the videotape and pressed play. Everyone in the room gasped as they recognized Ranma on the screen.

 

“If everyone in Nerima is looking for me and Shampoo and are watching this tape I guess you people did not find me. Now I am going to have my say about my view of things that happened in Nerima and before Dopey and Crybaby start about how dishonorable I am shut up.”

 

Everyone glanced at Genma and Soun and their eyes widened as their mouths shut close.

 

“Thank you.” Ranma spoke up again. “I left Nerima finally realizing that any relationship between Akane and I was doomed to destruction. To tell everyone the truth I had fallen for the sweet girl that offered me friendship and when I killed Saffron and saved her life I was sure I loved her but after Genma and Soun arranged that blown up wedding that Akane blamed me for wrecking my love started to vanish with all the mistrust, accusations, and abuse she heaped on me.

 

“I finally realized that even if we did get married our marriage would be destroyed by our mistrust for each other. Her mistrust in her suspecting I am being perverted with every woman I talked to and mine for her in not listening and slamming me with her mallet. It would also be destroyed by Genma's actions on the training trip when certain people would come to collect what Genma promised them and if they didn't get it they would take everything of value to get justice. That includes the Tendo house and dojo.”

 

Ranma took a deep breath.

 

“Since Kasumi has feelings for Tofu I couldn't switch the engagement to her since I didn't want to wreck her chance for a nice life. However if she doesn't get out of the Tendo house as soon as she can in 50 years I see her as an old maid who got none because she took care of the family when Soun Tendo turned into a useless baby.

 

“I also see that Nabiki would also not have a good life since most companies would not want to hire a girl who had to use less than legal means to get an income so that there would be food on table and a roof over our heads. I see her dieing in a shootout with the police since the only people that would hire her are the Yakuza.

 

“I also see Akane in prison for killing in rage because Soun trained her so poorly in the martial arts and not in the Tendo Anything Goes Style. I see no heir to the Tendo School and that is entirely your fault Soun Tendo. You disgust me since you knew a secret of Ryoga's and refused to tell Akane what it was to make me jealous. You should have told her since what Ryoga did destroyed our chances to getting married. Akane told him her secrets and he used that against me and her to keep us from getting together.

 

“Ukyo you are like a sister to me and I hope you can accept that. I will not be blamed for something that happened when I was too young to know any better. If you want to go after Genma then you have my blessings as well as Mom's. She wouldn't mind since she is getting a divorce from Genma and no matter what happens I will be taking my mom's maiden name. So by all means go after Genma kill him if you want. It would save us the cost of the fees needed for divorce.”

 

Ranma had an evil smirk on his face when he said that. Everyone including Kasumi, Cologne, and Happosai shivered at the sight of it. Only one person did not shiver and it was Nodoka.

 

“If you want Ukyo I would be glad to have you as a sister. I'm just sorry I was too young to know any better to stop Genma.”

 

Ranma smiled.

 

“After the attempted wedding Shampoo and I had a long talk and she listened which explains why she is with me and not anyone else. She learned why I was so hesitant in acting in what was happening between the girls and me. She also had a few things to talk about and it was my turn to listen. After that we got together and we have been secretly dating each other and getting to know one another. We also have been training with each other in the arts. And now that I have said enough it is time for Shampoo to say a few things and for everyone especially Cologne and Mousse to listen.”

 

Ranma stepped off the screen and Shampoo stepped on.

 

“If any of you are wondering how come I am speaking good Japanese it is because Ranma taught me to speak it better. I am also not a bimbo Akane. Just because I don't speak the language well does not mean I am stupid. I just act like it to make people underestimate me.

 

“Now Mousse you have to realize a few things. One: just because I offered friendship to you does not mean I wanted you as a husband. Two: you never listened to what I had to say and Ranma does and I give him the same respect. Three: with how you act and chase away any men I had, as friends really made me hate you. How was I suppose to like you if you were so jealous you wouldn't listen to me?

 

“Mousse I am not yours like a prize to win just as Akane thinks Ranma is. I am a woman a human being and I expect to be treated as one just like Ranma does.

 

“Now Great-grandmother before you start saying 3000 years of Chinese Amazon history beat the Tendos, Ukyo, and the Kunos I have to say it didn't. In case you are asking me what do I mean it's quite simple. Ranma helped me realize that the potions, the magical items, and the fake cures were driving Ranma away. Not to mention the fact I kept thinking he was a typical weak male, which he is not. If Ranma were the typical weak man he would have died at the hands of Saffron. A being even you admitted you could not defeat in combat.

 

“What you may not realize is that since we are so isolated in the mountains of a remote region in China is that the outside world has changed. 20 years maybe 15 years ago we might have been able to enforce the Kisses of Marriage and/or death but nowadays in the world now we would not be able to do so. Who's going think that the laws of a little, isolated village such as ours would be more important than a country's laws like Japan's?

 

“Only the people of that village would believe that. I learned something by studying this world outside of the village. If I was successful I would have been executed for murder and our village might have been destroyed. Especially the history of this world. Do you know what happens to people that do no change with the times?”

 

Shampoo stopped speaking for a moment.

 

“They die out. Great-grandmother I am afraid if we do not change our culture will suffer the same fate. Please think on what I have said Great-grandmother and know I am well where I am now. I love you Great-grandmother.”

 

Ranma stepped on screen again.

 

“This is goodbye until we meet again and I do hope we meet again under better conditions. So goodbye and good luck mom. I love you mom.”

 

The video ended there and Nodoka pressed the stop button on the remote.

 

“How dare that Ranma steal my Shampoo?” Mousse cried out.

 

“It is no wonder Shampoo wants nothing to do with you, young man.” Nodoka commented.

 

“What do you mean by that?”

 

“You heard everything Shampoo said to you but you are ignoring what she said to you. She told you why she does not love and it is no wonder.” Nodoka answered the blind man.

 

Akane had a question.

 

“What did he mean about a secret Ryoga had?” Akane asked. Akane saw her father leaving and stopped him with one word. “Dad?”

 

Akane turned to Kasumi and Nabiki and they shook their heads not knowing what this so called secret of Ryoga's.

 

Cologne spoke up.

 

“I know what it is child.” Cologne said. “Ryoga has a Jusenkyo curse.”

 

“That's impossible. I saw him in the pond one time.” Akane argued.

 

“Do you not remember? That was when the waterproof soap showed up. He used it and that managed to protect him from changing in front of you.” Cologne said.

 

“So what does he change into?” Akane asked everyone here.

 

“Ranma said to tell you he dropped clues about Ryoga and what he turned into.” Nodoka said. “He also said to ask what has not been around when you saw Ryoga? And what has been around when Ryoga vanished?”

 

“The only thing I can think of…” Akane's voice trailed. “It can't be. P-chan?”

 

Nabiki and Kasumi gasped but it fit. Especially since a pig and Ryoga wore the same bandanna. They could never recall a time when Ryoga and P-chan had been around at the same time.

 

“If you think about it it fits.” Nabiki said. “Ranma dropped enough clues that you could drive a bus through.”

 

“You knew father?” Kasumi asked. “You knew?”

 

Soun stayed silent but that was enough to confirm that he did to the three Tendo girls.

 

“Ranma told me that Ryoga changed back into his human form while Soun was in the furo taking a bath twice.” Nodoka informed the group. “Ranma was tricked into promising not to reveal what Ryoga turned into.”

 

“My god. All the times Ranma showed up in my room was not to take advantage of me but to protect me.” Akane thought to what Ranma had said on the tape. “I told that dirty pig my deepest secrets and he did indeed use them against us. And I blamed Ranma for it.”

 

Akane broke down in tears realizing what she did to Ranma who was just trying to protect her from the real pervert. After all that was said and done most realized what they had done and regretted it.

 

Genma was angry at his weak son.

 

“How dare the dishonorable boy do this?” Genma shouted up to the heavens. Genma implored the heavens. “What did I do to deserve such a dishonorable son?”

 

When he said that almost everyone was angry and gave him a beating then threw him in jail so he wouldn't cause any trouble.
