The smell of blood, the beating of Zal's wings in time with his heart, all rivet Sean's attention to him. Where as the motionless, soundless figure at his feet grabs his attention no more then a block of wood would.

Zal seeing this, knowing he doesn't have much time before the wound in his back brings him down. He moves to hover over the prone vampire.

Sean follows him waiting for the moment Zal comes close enough to pounce.

Zal watches Sean watching him as he brings his wrist up to his mouth and bites deep, letting the blood flow.

Sean growls deep in his throat, while one word floats into his hunger dazed mind, “Mine.” His eyes track the bloody wrist as Zal holds his are out. The first drop of blood falls, Sean's eyes follow it down, he crouches as it lands on the forehead of the vampire. A second drop lands on his chin, Sean growls lunging forward as several land in the hollow of the vampire's throat.

He laps up, savoring, the droplets of demon blood before plunging his teeth deep into the throat of the vampire. The vampire cries out as Sean's fangs dig in. Struggling against his paralyzes as he feels himself being drained, his blood vessels collapsing from the force of the suction.

Zal settles down on the other side of the clearing, his body almost at it's limit from blood loss and the silver knife in his back. He closes his eyes to rest after what seems to be only seconds his eyes snap open, as a weight lands on his back and he hears the sound of a thud as a dead vampire falls to the ground.

As he struggles to get up, he is shoved back into the ground, the knife swiftly pulled from his back, he screams out as it is then, rammed though his wrist pinning him to the ground. His shirt is torn from him as he struggles to reach the knife pinning him down, he hears the word “Mine” growled out in a low hissing, guttural voice just before fangs plunge deep into the wound on his back, causing him to convulse and scream out. A bloody wrist is suddenly shoved into Zal's mouth. Zal shakes his head trying to spit out the wrist and blood, when the fangs sink deeper into his back and his head is jerked back by his hair causing him to convulsively shallow the blood in his mouth and with the first drink of blood the first step to life-bonding has started.

Soon the uncontrolled guzzling on his back softens and gentles, the wrist falls away from his mouth. His wounds licked and nuzzled as they heal. After another moment or two Sean snuggles into Zal's back and sleeps.

Zal carefully reaches around and removes the knife from his wrist. He lays there watching the wounds heal in his wrist, thinking of the consequences of what had just happened. His last thoughts as the blood loss and trauma catch up to him, “This boy is going to own me in every way imaginable, if things keep going like this.”

Two hours later Sean stirs and rolls over landing on the ground next to Zal. Zal's eyes snap open as tenses, waiting to see if his master is still in a blood frenzy. He relaxes when Sean curls up against his side, when soft, mocking laughter rings out of the woods. He instinctively spreads a wing out covering Sean from view as he watches a black-winged woman step into the clearing.

“Oh no, Zalforlanderfarcal, let me see this baby demon that has enslaved you.” She walks across the clearing pausing for a moment at the body of the vampire. “Disgusting thing,” she snarls, kicking it across the clearing.

Sean jerks awake at her snarling, her words confusing him as he watches her from beneath Zal's wing. The closer she approaches the more familiar she looks to him. “Don't think I've forgotten about your amber-eyed savior, Zalfor. I will find and destroy it.” She stops a few feet from them, “Now Zalfor, remove your wing and let me see you Demon Master.”

Zal shifts as he looks up at her, giving Sean a better look at her, and says, “You are not my Mistress,” just as the moon breaks though the clouds lighting up the clearing.

Sean gasps and sits up quickly, still in shadow, “Nannie, Nannie Hartwood? Can't be, she'd be long dead by now but you look exactly like her portrait, well except for the wings that is.”

She lunges forward, grabbing him by the throat, “How do you know that name, boy?” she demands.

Zal leaps forward, pulling Sean from her grip, pushing him behind him and into the moonlight.

The woman's eyes widen as she pales at seeing Sean's feature clearly for the first time that night. Her body automatically goes though a shift to a form even more familiar to Sean.

“Cousin Alice?” comes Sean shocked voice.

“Sean?” whispers Alice, “What in the hell are you doing here? Where in the bloody hell have you been? Your parents have been worried sick when you didn't come home 2 weeks ago. And what in HELL are you doing with him?” pointing at Zal.

“TWO WEEKS? No way I've only been here…” pauses to think, turns to Zal, “umm, how long have I been here?”

“I do not have any idea how long you where wandering around in the forest but you have only been here for two nights,” replies Zal.
