Chapter two “Roaring like a lion”

 

Soon Kayla, Arinna, Kagome, Shin, and the other new students were at Duel Academy getting settled in. That night Kayla relayed the info she told and received from Skye to Arinna. She wore the outfit that Alexis wears except it was red in color. “This does seem interesting,” Arinna said, “By the way you said that your cousin doesn't go camping right?”

 

“Yeah. Why do you ask?”

 

“Because it smelled like she has been traveling in the country for a long time plus she has a strange dog smell on her that I can't seem to place,” Arinna explained.

 

“Do you want me to question her about it?” Kayla asked.

 

“In a way that won't make her spurious,” Arinna advised.

 

“Got it,” Kayla said and then there was knock at her door, “Who is it?”

 

“It's Blair,” the answer came.

 

Kayla went over to the door and opened it to reveal Blair. “What's up?”

 

“We're all hanging out down in the lounge and we want to know if you would like to join us?” Blair asked.

 

“Whose all down there?” Kayla asked as Arinna hopped onto her shoulder.

 

“Jaden, Chazz, Syrus, Alexis, Jasmine, Mindy, Tyranno, Bastion, Aster, Atticus, Kagome, Shin, and me,” Blair explained.

 

“Sure I'll come and hang out with you guy's,” Kayla said as she closed her door and followed Blair to the Slifer Lounge. Once inside Kayla noticed more Duel Spirits. Beside Jaden was a Winged Kuriboh and near Chazz were an Ojama Yellow, Black, and Green. `I'm not the only one who can see and has Duel Spirits,' Kayla though. Shin and Kagome wore the Ra Yellow uniforms for their dorm. Kagome's outfit looked like Kayla's, but yellow and Shin's looked just like Bastion's, but he opened the jacket and wore it that way.

 

“This is gonna be the best year ever!” Jaden exclaimed after Blair and Kayla sat down.

 

“I just hope that it's not like the last 3 years,” Mindy said.

 

“Yeah I heard about that as I was signing up. That must have been tough,” Kayla said.

 

“Nah. It was fun,” Jaden said. Everyone except Kagome, Shin, and Kayla sighed.

 

“That's the sarge for ya,” Tyranno said.

 

Suddenly both Pharaoh and Arinna tensed, as they seemed to sense something. “What's up with Pharaoh and Arinna?” Syrus asked. Sounds of fighting could be heard outside like someone with a sword was swinging it at something.

 

“Sounds like a fight outside,” Shin said. They all rushed outside to see a silver haired boy with a red kimono on, no shoes on his feet, dog like ears on top of his head, clawed hands, and a sword in those clawed hands.

 

“What the?” Chazz asked. The silver haired boy was fighting a strange creature. It resembled a Dusknoir from Pokemon.

 

The silver haired guy glanced back with his golden eyes and saw the gang behind him. “What the hell are you all doing just standing there? Run!” he ordered.

 

“I think we better listen to him,” Kayla said.

 

“I think your right,” Alexis said and the whole gang took of running.

 

Kagome glanced back as she ran. `Be careful InuYasha,' she though.

 

“Do you think we should tell Sheppard about this?” Atticus asked.

 

“Sounds like a good idea to me,” Aster said. Then Jasmine noticed that someone or someone's were missing.

 

“Hey where's Kayla and Arinna?” she asked. Everyone stopped and glanced around.

 

“She might have gotten lost,” Bastion said.

 

“Or that strange monster got her,” Chazz added.

 

“Don't say that,” Kagome scolded.

 

“I'm just saying…” Chazz began, but then dropped it seeing how much Kagome feared for her cousin's safety.

 

“Let's find her,” Jaden said. So they split up into two groups, one guys and one girl's.

 

The girls found themselves back near the fight and saw that the swordsman was having some trouble. “It doesn't look good,” Alexis said, “He's going to need help.”

 

`If only I could get to my bow and arrows,' Kagome though. Suddenly the monster turned and saw the girls. He hurled InuYasha into a tree and advanced on the 5 girls.

 

“Looks like we need help too!” Blair exclaimed.

 

InuYasha glanced up and saw the monster head towards Kagome and the other girls. `No! Kagome!'

 

Suddenly a strange blast of golden light came out of nowhere and hit the monster sending it into a tree a hundred feet away. “You asked and you shall receive,” a female voice said. The girls and InuYasha glanced towards a group of tree's to see a girl standing there. She wore a white leotard with white gloves that had gold bands at the end of them, gold skirt, gold boot with the sign for Leo on the top of them, and a gold tiara with a gold jewel in the middle of it. She also had the same hair and eyes as Kayla.

 

“Who is she?” Mindy asked.

 

“I am Sailor Leo and I have the powers of heat and life on my side,” she said. The monster seemed ready to fight again. “How dare you attack innocent girls and a school! In the name of the Sun and Leo I will punish you!” The monster lunged for her. “How did I know you were going to do that? Leo Roaring Heat!” she called. A golden lion with a shaggy mane appeared in front of her and roared sending a huge wave of heat at the monster. Upon contact with the blast from the lion the monster was destroyed and disintegrated into a pile of ash that was blown away in the wind. She glanced at the other girls who looked wearily at the dust pile as it was being blown away. She chuckled slightly. “He's not going to come back. Your safe now.”

 

“Thank you,” Alexis said.

 

“No problem. I sensed that something strange was brewing on this island so I came to investigate. Good thing I did otherwise you all would have been monster chow and that guy with the sword was no help at all,” Sailor Leo said.

 

InuYasha growled and charged Sailor Leo. “Sit,” Kagome said under her breath. InuYasha's face was planted in the ground.

 

“Well I better be off. But if you ever need me again I'll be there,” Leo said before dashing off the way she came.

 

Soon the guy's came rushing up to the girls. “Everyone ok here?” Aster asked.

 

“Yeah, but we didn't find Kayla or Arinna anywhere. Did you?” Blair asked.

 

“No sign of them,” Bastion said.

 

Chazz saw InuYasha planted in the ground. “What happened to him?” he asked.

 

“No clue,” Jasmine said. InuYasha stood and saw the glare that Kagome was giving him so he decided to disappear leaping away into the forest.

 

“Well who ever he is he's gone now, but he sure was a hunk,” Mindy said as she and Jasmine had hearts in their eyes.

 

`You won't think he's a hunk when you meet him in person,' Kagome though.

 

“Hey! Guy's!” A voice called and everyone glance up to see Kayla running up to them the same way Sailor Leo left with Arinna beside her. “I saw a bright light come from over here and on my way back I saw a girl in a weird outfit rush past me. What happened?”

 

“We went looking around for you,” Kagome said, “and then Alexis, Blair, Mindy, Jasmine, and me ended up back here. Then that monster who that guy with the sword was fighting tossed the guy and charged us, but this golden light came out of nowhere sending the monster back a good couple feet.”

 

“She told us her name was Sailor Leo. Then the monster charged her and she hit it really hard with a weird attack that had a lion appear in front of her and it roared at the monster. What ever that roar was suppose to do worked become that monster turned to dust and then she disappeared before the guy's got back,” Alexis finished.

 

“Sailor Leo?! You got to meet Sailor Leo?” Kayla demanded surprised.

 

“You know her?” Shin asked.

 

“Yeah. Supposedly she's a Sailor Scout. She appeared in America not so long ago and saved me from a monster who said that it wanted my Soul Gem,” Kayla explained.

 

“Soul Gem?” Bastion asked.

 

“What's that?” Syrus asked.

 

“No idea, but after she saved me she told me that whoever was threatening Earth are after these Soul Gems. She didn't know much about them herself. All she knows is that they contain a person's soul and once that Soul Gem is taken out the person is dead. But she also said that if you get it back to its owner, as quickly as possible, the person will come back to life,” Kayla explained.

 

“We better be on the look out for these creatures,” Tyranno said. The others nodded.

 

Now night finds Chancellor Sheppard inside his office when a figure appears before him. “Who…who are you?” he demanded.

 

“I am Sailor Pluto. I have come to warn and tell you something. A great evil is coming to this island. She goes by the name of Queen Beryl. She is searching for rare and powerful Soul Gems, which will lead her to what is know as Pure Light. If she finds it she will be able to corrupt it and turn it evil turning it into Corrupt Light. If that happens the world as we know it is doomed,” she explained.

 

“What can I do to prevent her from finding it?” Sheppard asked after a few moments.

 

“A group of girls and one boy will be arriving here. They will be able to help protect everyone from her,” Pluto said.

 

“And I though I was the only scout here,” a voice said. Behind Sailor Pluto appeared Sailor Leo. “So that's why these monsters keep going after people for their Soul Gems.”

 

“And you are?” Sheppard inquired.

 

“Sorry. I'm known as Sailor Leo.”

 

`So one of the Astral Scouts has appeared,' Pluto though.

 

“And why are you here?” Sheppard asked.

 

“I'm here because a monster has appeared and went after 5 of your students. They are Alexis, Blair, Jasmine, Mindy, and Kagome. But all of them are safe because I was there to protect them. Although I do believe that more monsters will soon appear and I'm sure that I won't be able to protect every single student here if monsters are attacking from each side of the island,” Leo explained.

 

“So what do you suggest?” Sheppard asked slightly nervous now.

 

“Nothing that you can't do. There is a girl back on the main land who I would like you to bring to the island. She's a great duelist. She mainly uses a wind/winged beast deck slightly modeled after Mai Valentine's deck. She will be able to help,” Leo explained.

 

“All right tell me everything you know about her and I'll find her plus I will be prepared for these new students to arrive,” Sheppard said. Both scouts nodded.

 

Back in Kayla's room Kayla was finished telling Arinna about what she had overheard from Sailor Pluto's talk with Chancellor Sheppard and what she told him. “So Sailor Pluto has appeared?” Arinna asked.

 

“You know her?” Kayla asked after she nodded.

 

“Yes Sailor Pluto and Sailor Scorpio are one and the same almost. Both deal with death and time plus they both guard the Gates of Time.”

 

“Gates of Time? What's that?” Kayla asked the solar cat.

 

“The Gates of Time can give anyone access to any time that they want, but only if you have a cosmic key and the only way to get one is to go to either Sailor Pluto or Scorpio and ask for one from them. They are the only two who did not get reborn like you and the other scouts did,” Arinna explained.

 

“Right now I better get everything ready for Skye. Supposedly she'll be coming tomorrow from what she told me on the communicator. I told Chancellor Sheppard to put her in Slifer Red and have her bunk with me. Good night,” Kayla said slipping into bed.

 

Meanwhile in Kagome's dorm room she was talking to InuYasha. “I wonder who that Sailor Leo really is?” Kagome asked.

 

“You should be more concerned with these creatures after these Soul Gems your cousin told you about. You could have had yours taken from you,” InuYasha told her.

 

Kagome smiled at him. “Thanks for worrying about me InuYasha,” she told him. He blushed and looked away from her.

 

The next morning Kayla and Arinna waited by the helicopter pad as a helicopter landed and out stepped a girl and a cat. The girl had long blonde hair and pale blue eyes. She wore the same uniform as Kayla. The cat beside her was brown with yellow eyes and had an earth mark on her forehead. “Hey Skye. How are you and Angel doing?” Kayla asked after the helicopter stopped.

 

“We're doing ok. How does the classes seem so far?” Skye asked.

 

“Not bad, but they said it gets harder as the year goes on,” Kayla explained.

 

“Sounds like our job,” Skye said sarcastly.

 

“Funny Gale,” Kayla said, “Come on I want you to meet the others.” Skye nodded and the foursome walked towards the Slifer Red dorm.

 

Once they arrived there they saw a group of girls and one boy standing there talking to Jaden and the others. “Oh! Hey Kayla. These are Serena, Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, Amara, Michelle, Hotaru, Trista, and Darien,” Jaden explained. Serena, Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, and Hotaru were wearing the girls Ra Yellow uniform while Amara, Michelle, Trista, and Darien wore business type outfits. “Serena, Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, and Hotaru are new students while Amara, Michelle, Trista, and Darien are going to be new teachers.”

 

“Nice to meet you,” Lita said as the others said their hellos.

 

“Heh five new students today? That makes you six Skye. This is my friend Skye Gale and her cat Angel,” Kayla said, “By the way I'm Kayla Chryseis and this my cat Arinna. I'm Kagome's cousin from America.”

 

“It's a pleasure to meet you all,” Skye said bowing.

 

Chazz couldn't stop staring at Skye. `She's beautiful! Wait I'm in love with Alexis not this new girl,' Chazz though.

 

[Come on boss maybe you should try to like someone else instead of Alexis all the time,] Ojama Black said.

 

[Yeah I don't she is in love with you,] Ojama Yellow told Chazz.

 

“Will loser shut up?!” Chazz hollered. Kayla, Arinna, Skye, Angel, Kagome, Shin, Serena, Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, Amara, Michelle, Hotaru, Trista, and Darien looked at him strange, although both Kayla and Skye could see that he was talking to the Ojama Trio.

 

“He does that a lot,” Syrus explained.

 

A Harpie Girl appeared beside Skye and giggled. [He's funny,] she said.

 

`Be nice Harpie Girl,' Skye told her.

 

“This is going to be the best year ever!” Jaden cried causing all his friends to groan except his new ones.
