‘Thoughts’
Chapter 2
Both of them entered the subway station, a train had just pulled in, whistling as it came to a stop. They each pushed through the gates, grabbing their tickets while entering one of the many carriages. The one they entered was nearly empty, except for one person. A man, in his middle twenty’s, sat at the end of the carriage. His features were catching, with long black hair held in light blue ribbon that reached past his back. He wore simple clothing, a black jacket with a blue wife-beater shirt and matching pants. His eyes were close, giving the look of him being a sleep.
Makoto seated herself away from the strange man because a strong gut feeling was telling her something was definitely wrong about him. Kurama was getting the same feeling from the stranger and sat himself next to her. Kurama glanced around, no one else was in the carriages. Except for the one beside them. He noticed a business man with at least five bodyguards. It was then Kurama felt the brunette shift away.
“I’m not making you uncomfortable am I?” Kurama asked concerned while titling his head a bit.
Emerald-green eyes glanced up in surprise. “What?” She asked softly, her eyes flickering to the other person. “No, I-.” Makoto stopped, as the man in blue clothing stood up. This time his eyes were open, showing ice blue with no emotions in them what so ever. His eyes were locked on to the man in the other carriage, he moved silently to the next carriage glancing only once at the two teenagers before opening the door and closing it.
“What a strange man.” Makoto observed while thinking out loud.
“Very.” Kurama agreed, something about the man told Kurama he was a very dangerous foe. It was a second later that a familiar scent caught Kurama acute nose. ‘Blood?’ His thoughts raced, his nose tilting more to locate the familiarity. ‘But from where?’ Kurama wondered while looking up from his seat. His eyes were scanning around, trying to spot where the smell of blood was coming from. Shock swallowed his eyes when he saw what was in the next carriage.
Kurama jumped from his seat his hand out to open the door. Makoto surprised by Kurama’s sudden movement looked up to see what had bothered the young red hair man. Her eyes stared unmoving at the five dead bloody bodyguards. Her hand raised to block her mouth and nose as a wave of nausea hit her causing her stomach to knot itself. The sound of a opening door snapped Makoto out of her wave of sickness and back to reality. Kurama finally had opened the door, his hand now reaching to his red hair for his rose whip.
“WAIT!” Makoto screamed while jumping off her seat and tackling Kurama to the ground. Kurama was lucky that Makoto had chosen that time to interfere, for a mere second later the three-hundred year old kitsune would have been no more.
“Get off!” Kurama yelled, but Makoto had already moved off of him. Looking over his shoulder he saw Makoto using her school bag to stop a sword from cutting down him and her.
“Rose whip!” He voiced while moving his hand, a green like whip with sharp thorns appeared. Kurama guided the whip, hitting the sword and forcing it to fall out of the man hands. This caused Makoto and the man to move away from each other. The black hair man glared icily at the two teenagers before opening the door of moving carriage and jumping out. Kurama stood up and offered a hand to Makoto.
“You are not hurt are you?” Kurama asked looking over her to make sure. Makoto shook her head, stopping to glance only at the now six dead bodies. A frown on her lips as the feeling of nausea came back to her, but much stronger this time around.
“Who was that guy?” Makoto wonder while turning way from the bloody scene.
“I don’t know, but let the police worry about that.” Kurama answered while leading Makoto away for the scene.
one hour later
“So, a man with long black hair, ice blue eyes and pale skin who wore a black jacket with a blue wife-beater and matching pants did this?”Detective Yakumo Fuji reiterate while checking his notes. Yakumo Fuji was a middle aged man in his thirty’s. He wore a long tan over-coat with a brown suit, while writing down everything Kurama and Makoto had told him in his notebook.
“Tell me, is this the man?” Yakumo asked while pulling out a picture from his inside pocket. He showed it to Kurama and Makoto who gazed at the image with scrutiny.
“That’s him.” The two declared. Yakumo frowned at this as he placed the picture back in the pocket, turning a bit he locked onto another detective.
“Keiichi get over here!” He ordered, and the detective jumped slightly at the call of his name. Keiichi Souij was a rookie detective, who immediately jumped up at Yakumo’s voice. Racing over to the older man, he bowed to the two before glancing at the lead detective.
“Sir?” Keiichi questioned, and Yakumo gestured him to follow him. Both men then moved out of hearing range, but even still they spoke in low voices. Yakumo and Keiichi spoke for at least five minutes then Keiichi nodded bringing out his cell phone. Yakumo came back to Kurama and Makoto, his notebook open as he wrote down something.
“Shiuichi, Makoto.” He addressed the pair, who gave him their attention. “I need the phone numbers of your parents.” Yakumo stated.

Makoto sat quietly, while waiting for her ‘guardian’ to show up. Across from her was Kurama talking calmly to his mother, telling her he was alright. The police doors opened as a young ‘man’ with dirty blond hair, sky blue eyes and golden pale skin walked in. ‘He’ wore a red and white race jacket, with a white button shirt and fading blue jeans. Next to ‘him’ was a woman with sea green hair, and gentle blue eyes. She wore a light blue long sleeves jacket, and a plum colored shirt tucked into a dark navy blue skirt.
“Mako-chan!” The ‘male,’ called, ‘his,’ face a bit worried.
“Haruka!” Makoto responded, relief showing a little on her face.
Haruka and Michiru, two fellow senshi, walked briskly over to senshi of Jupiter. Michiru was the first one to speak.
“Makoto, what happen?” Michiru asked her voice held a steady calmness, but Makoto could hear the tone of cornered in the senshi of Neptune’s voice.
“Murder, that’s what happen.” Makoto answered while pulling her knees to her chest.
“Murder?” Haruka whispered while gazing at Makoto, while thinking over their next questions.
“When?” ‘He,’ voiced ignoring ‘his,’ partners disgruntled look. “Where?” Haruka asked while kneeling down to look at Makoto, but the senshi of thunder simply turned her eyes away. Michiru kindly elbowed her partner while gazing concerned at the younger senshi. Makoto ducked further into her own embrace, she could still see and smell the blood.
“Makoto...” Haruka called gently, and sky blue eyes looked deeply into emerald-green eyes, “It’s okay.” They comforted. “You shouldn’t blame yourself.” Haruka told her.
“I know...” Makoto stated and brought her knees down, wincing silently as her feet touched the cold floor. She had thrown her shoes away unable to stand the blood that stained her shoes.
“Mrs.Minamino?” A voice intruded, and continued. “Miss. Tenoh?” Yakumo added while walking to the group.
“Yes?” Shiori and Haruka answered
“I’m afraid I have some bad news.” He started while avoiding Haruka’s side glare. “Shiuichi and Makoto here, witness a murder this morning at Subway 27.” Yakumo told them, and the pair nodded. “The man, who did this is a assassin, for the Stone Cold Assassins.” He continued while reciting information that had been burned into his mind. “A notorious hit man gang, that profits from sales of illegal drugs and highly dangerous weapons.” He intoned, and Haruka drew her spine straight. A senshi caught up in mortal affairs, but she didn’t change her expression.
“So?” Haruka imbued, crossing her arms
“Shiuichi and Makoto, will have to be place into a witness protection program.” Yakumo answered ignoring the silent intimidation. “The Stone Cold Assassins will try to kill Shiuichi and Makoto.” He told her, and Haruka leered a bit.
“As witnesses against the boss who is soon to be on trial.” Yakumo stated. “ They will try to eradicate them before the trial begins against their leader Juian.” His voice trailed off while the pair stayed quiet.
“What?” Shiori spoke up her hands shaking. “Just how long is the trial?” She asked with fear in her voice. Kurama approached her from the side.
“Mother.” Kurama called softly while placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. Yakumo stilled his inside smile at the youth’s care of his mother and answered her question.
“They will only be in the program as long as the trial goes on, the problem is the trial won’t start until two months from now.” He stated while glancing to see if Keiichi was filling out the paper work needed.
“J-just where will you be placing them?” asked Michiru speaking for the first time. To shocked to speak at first.
“Sendai, Japan.” He answered and the faces of the guardians closed off.
