Chapter 12: Matchmaking Follies: Part 2

Usagi sits with her chin in the palm of her hand watching her Aunt Haruka, Michiru and her cousin Shinzu getting ready to go soak in the hot springs. Haruka is dressed in a pair of dark blue swimming trunks and a black tank top over it while Michiru is dressed in a one piece yellow swim suit with a sky blue stripe going up on both sides of the swim suit and her cousin Shinzu is dressed in a red Hawaiian print swim trunks with a dark blue tank top.

Haruka looks over at Usagi who isn't getting ready to go and raises an eyebrow. “Why aren't you getting ready, Usa?”

Usagi looks up at Haruka with a surprised look on her face. “You're joking right? I mean you don't seriously expect me to get into the springs do you?” Usagi asks with both eyebrows raised.

“Well, yeah. I mean, the reason we came was so that you could relax, Usa,” Haruka states before sitting down at the table with Usagi.

“Haruka, how am I supposed to hide the fact that I'm a girl and not a boy?” Usagi asks while rubbing her temples feeling a head ache coming on.

“Oh, don't worry. We've got that covered,” Haruka states before going over to her bag and pulls out a red colored wig and tosses it to Usagi who catches it with ease. “There, now if we run into anyone that might know you, you won't be recognized. Just raise your voice a little so that it isn't deep.”

“Right, I'm supposed to remember to do all of that, huh?” Usagi rolls her eyes and lets out a sigh while looking at the wig then shrugs. “Alright, this might work after all.”

She gets up from the table and heads over to her duffle bag and pulls out her white swim trunks with black dragons on them before grabbing a yellow tank top then walks over to the bathroom to change into them and arrange the wig on her head before she walks out of the room only to have Haruka raise an eyebrow.

“If I didn't know that I had just given you that wig then I wouldn't have even recognized you,” Haruka states while circling around Usagi with a large smile on her face. “No one will know who you are and you don't have to worry about compromising your identity.”

“What about you, Haruka?” Usagi asks with a raised eyebrow. “Aren't you worried about being found out?”

“No, I'm not worried at all. Michiru and I have our own private spa for some privacy. We'll meet you later,” she states before holding out her arm to Michiru who takes it with a smile before they leave the room.

“Well, let's go squirt,” Usagi chuckles before taking Shinzu by the hand and leads her out of the room towards the hot springs.

Hotaru walks through the lobby while shifting her wig slightly on her head to make sure that it's not going anywhere. She still can't believe that Makoto had talked her into this, in the first place. Here she was standing in the lobby dressed in a wig, blue jeans and a black polo shirt. She looks down at her chest and chuckles mentally for a moment when she notices that she can see her breasts without having to be naked for the first time in a long time.

Maybe this plan wasn't so bad after all. They had told Rei and Minako that Hotaru was a cousin of Ami's and that Taru couldn't make it, but Amara was coming instead which was fine with Rei and Minako.

So here they were, at the hot springs with Usagi, Haruka, Michiru and Shinzu somewhere. Haruka and Michiru were going to have their own private hot spring while Shinzu was suppose to lead Usagi to the one where the five girls were suppose to meet up with them later.

The girls were led to their room where they would be staying for the night before telling them which room they were suppose to go to. Makoto smiles over at Hotaru then winks slightly at her before they take turns going to the bathroom to change into their swim suits.

Once their finished changing Makoto leads the way to where their room is. When she pushes the shoji door aside she notices that there are to people already in there. A small, blonde with an older red head are sitting in the springs already, leaning against the wall relaxing. She raises an eyebrow at the two people before it dawns on her that it's Usagi and her cousin Shinzu.

They walk in there one after another smiling at the two people sitting in there before slipping into the spring. They all let out a sigh of relief while closing their eyes. Makoto looks at Usagi who has a slightly panicked look on her face when Rei slides closer to Usagi.

“Hey, I'm Hino Rei and these are my friends, Kino Makoto, Aino Minako, Tomoe Amara and Mizuno Ami,” Rei introduces her friends with a smile on her face towards Usagi who gulps nervously.

“Umm, Hi. I'm Ten'ou Serena and this is my cousin, Shinzu,” Usagi states while looking over to the girl that was introduced as Amara then rolls her eyes slightly when she recognizes Hotaru looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

“Have you been here long?” Rei asks in order to engage their guest in conversation since they are all together and figured that it would be rude to not talk to their guest.

“Uh, no. We just arrived with my Aunt and her friend,” Usagi states while leaning back and for the first time in a long time she allows herself to relax. `She's actually really nice when she's not throwing things at me,' Usagi muses before glancing over at Rei from the corner of her eye. `Though, I think that if she was to recognize me then she wouldn't be so nice to me. No, she'd be throwing things at me instead and yelling.'

They sit around talking and laughing before they start into a water fight. Usagi laughs while splashing water back at each one of them before she feels something slip from her head slightly. She exchanges glances with Makoto whose eyes grow wide before she, Ami and Hotaru distract Rei and Minako while Usagi jumps out of the springs and takes off towards the rooms.

After Usagi is gone, Makoto, Ami and Hotaru stop what they were doing and Rei looks around for Usagi then rubs the back of her head wondering where she went.

“Hey, where did Amara go?” Rei asks while continuing to look around for their new friend.

“Oh, I think she said something about meeting her Aunt or something, I'm not sure,” Makoto states before letting out a sigh then shakes her head. `This is so not going to work.'

“Come on, Usa. Let's go eat,” Haruka states later, but Usagi shakes her head.

“No, Rei and the other girls are also at the spa. I don't want them to see me because it might raise too much suspicion, especially since they saw Shinzu. They'll think something is up and I can't have that!” Usagi exclaims before letting out a sigh and puts the pillow back over her head.

“If you say so,” Haruka looks over at Michiru who frowns slightly then they shrug their shoulders before walking out of Usagi's with Shinzu stating that she wanted to stay with Usagi.

Usagi lies on her bed with her arms over her eyes thinking about the time that she spent with Rei that wasn't spent fighting, before letting out a miserable sigh then rolls over onto her side staring at the wall.

`She's never going to like me for me, because she thinks I'm some pervert when I'm not. I don't even know why she seems to hate me, but she really isn't all that bad. Maybe I could try to be a little nicer to her or something.'

Usagi gets up from the bed before going over to her duffle bag to pull some cloths out. `Maybe, I can try and be nice to her tonight,' she thinks while digging around in her duffle bag for something appropriate to wear to dinner.

Once she's found something and is dressed she makes her way to the dinning room where she plans on sitting by herself so that the others won't make a connection between the other girl that she dressed up as and the boy she's dressed up as right now.

When she walks into the dinning room, a young man comes up to her and shows her to her table in a corner away from other people and the girls that she notices is sitting five tables away from her. She smiles at the waiter before taking a menu from him before ordering some tea before the waiter walks away to let her scan over the items on it.

She looks over the menu and watches the girls with a thoughtful look on her face. `So, how do I go about doing this? Should I just walk up to them? Well, yeah, why not? Makoto is my friend after all, so why shouldn't I?' Usagi thinks to herself while waiting for the waiter to come back.

After giving him her order she sits with her hands folded over her tea cup and watches the Raven haired girl with a slight grin on her face before she raises her eyebrows while she remembers that Rei had mentioned something about liking cherry cheese cake.

She waves over the waiter and orders a slice to be sent over to their table, but instructs him not to tell them who it's from for the moment. The waiter nods his head and chuckles before going off to put in the order.

She nibbles her bottom lip to keep from laughing out loud while she watches Rei look around for that could've sent her the piece of cake. `Chicken, if you really wanted to get to know her better as yourself then you would go over there. So, get off your butt and go,' she thinks to herself, but she doesn't move an inch.

She raises an eyebrow when she sees Haruka walking over to the girls table then leans down to Makoto's level and whispers something into her ear to which she receives a nod before Haruka leaves while Makoto explains to everyone around her who that was.

Usagi frowns for a moment while staring down at her plate then she picks her head up and growls softly. `I've been set up,' she thinks to herself before tossing her napkin down onto the plate and stalks away from her seat and over to where she saw Haruka go.

She stops at the table and stares down at Haruka with an angry look on her face. “I don't know what's going on, but I know that it has something to do with Makoto. Now, I'm going to my room and I really don't want to see you again,” She states before turning on her heel and walks off towards her room.

Haruka looks over at Michiru and they both let out a sigh. “Well back to the beginning I suppose,” Haruka states while running her fingers through her hair.

“How'd she figure that something was going on?” Michiru mumbles to herself while staring into her glass before looking up at Haruka who shrugs her shoulders slightly.

“I don't think that she really knows what we are up too, I think that she's suspicious and is trying weed out what it might be,” Haruka states before taking a sip of her wine.

“Maybe you should think of something that isn't so obvious then. I mean a spa of all places, Ruka?” Michiru raises an eyebrow while chuckling softly.

“Oh and I suppose you have a better idea then?” Haruka asks while leaning her chin on her fist gazing into her fiancés eyes.

“Well as a matter a fact, I do have a back up plan, since I figured that yours was rather cliché,” Michiru states with a chuckle when she sees the raised eyebrow and none convinced look on Haruka's face. “Don't worry. You'll see.”

Haruka leans back in her chair while shaking her head then looks over to the table where Makoto and her friends are leaving, noticing the slightly dejected look on Rei's face while they walk past their table. `Hmmm, interesting,' she thinks to herself before looking over at Michiru who's eyebrow is raised in a silent question.

“How mad do you think that girl will be if she found out that Usagi was actually a girl?” Haruka randomly asks which makes Michiru's eyebrows shot up to her bangs.

“Why do you ask that?”

Haruka shrugs her shoulders slightly then takes another look at Rei. “I don't know. I just have a feeling that this might blow up in our faces,” Haruka states before raising her hand and waves a passing waiter over to their table while Shin asks for desert.

Usagi lies on her bed in the dark with an arm flung over her eyes. She lets out a sigh and flops the arm down onto the bed beside of her while staring at the ceiling, before she lets out another sigh and flings the covers off of her then gets up from the bed. She sits on the edge of the bed with her face in her hands for a while before she gets up from the bed and pads bare foot over to her suitcase where she pulls on a short sleeved shirt then puts a pair of sandals on before leaving the room to take a walk hoping that it will clear her racing mind so that she can finally get some sleep.

She whistles quietly to herself while walking through the spa grounds attempting to get her mind off the activities that had happened earlier in the night. Wandering aimlessly she arrives in front of a pond at the edge of the spa grounds. She lays down on one of the benches looking up at the stars. Despite not being able to sleep this is her favorite time of the day. She's always found it to be oddly comforting to be lying outside looking up at the sky. It just wasn't the same sleeping indoors. Every now and then someone would walk by and stare at the young woman lying on the bench. Usagi's eyes close while she thinks about the day that she had been through when she hears the sound of running feet and a man's voice hissing out something.

Curious the young girl sits up and looks around only to see someone stumble then fall to their knees while another figure comes up behind them and grabs their shoulders lifting them bodily to their feet with the face mere inches in front of it.

Usagi frowns before getting up from her seat and walks carefully over to the two people fearing that something was about to happen to the shorter person and a strong urge to protect the shorter person passes through her body.

She crouches behind a bush that's off to the side of the two people and listens with a sense of urgency to the conversation taking place a couple feet away from her.

“You're going to do what I say! Other wise I'll send a couple of my guys to do more then just rough you up,” a males voice hisses while the taller figure shakes the shorter one making them whimper.

“I don't even know him! How am I supposed to get close enough to him in the first place? It's not like he even likes me,” a woman's voice whimpers out while trying to get out of the hold that the man has her in.

“He rescued you from those girls, so that means he at least respects you. Other wise he wouldn't have even done that.”

Usagi frowns for a moment when she realizes that the voices she's hearing sound very familiar then her eyes widen when she realizes that it's Rei and Mamoru. Her eyes narrows and she clenches her hands into fists when she figures out that Mamoru is trying to black mail Rei into getting close to her.

`What the hell is he doing here anyway?' She asks herself before looking around to assess the situation that she's currently in. `He's alone. So, that means he figures that he can take Rei on by himself. Heh. Well let's see how he likes it when the situation is reversed!'

Usagi bursts out of the bushes and runs at Mamoru full speed before lowering her shoulder and catches him in the side, taking the three of them down to the ground. Usagi flips up to her feet and enters her fighting stance while she waits for the dazed Mamoru to get up from the ground.

“You're not so tough when you're up against someone that has had more training, are you, Mamoru?” Usagi asks with a sneer on her face while she watches the dark haired boy get to his feet.

“Ahh, Nate, we were just talking about you,” he states while the soft glow of lanterns around them illuminates his cold smile that is now on his face. “I was just going to go look for you when I ran into your good friend, Rei-chan here and I must say that she's quite the fighter.”

“Cut the bullshit, Mamoru. I know what you were doing. I heard you talking to Rei-chan. What ever you were planning it's over with as of right now!” Usagi exclaims while chancing a glance over to Rei to make sure that she's alright.

Rei stands off to her side with an astonished look on her face before Usagi waves her behind her so that she will be out of the way in case a fight breaks out between the two teens.

“I don't know what you are talking about, Nate-San,” Mamoru states mockingly with a sneer on his face. “But I do have something for you. It's a little pay back for messing up my face."

Usagi raises an eyebrow, but doesn't have time to say anything when a loud bang explodes from in front of her and a white hot searing pain erupts in her stomach. She cries out and grabs the gun shot wound before falling to her knees gasping for breath which causes more pain to shot through her body.

She feels her head brought up and looks into Mamoru's cold, smirking face before he brings the gun up to bash her across the head, but he jerks his head to the side when a large tree branch comes crashing against his head, making him topple over to the ground and lay deathly still.

Usagi turns her head and sees Rei standing off to the side with a branch in her hand before the blonde haired girl topples over to her side only to be caught by Rei who had thrown the branch aside when she noticed Usagi falling over.

Usagi is surprised when she feels herself being lifted from the ground and cradled in strong slender arms before the pain takes its toll and she begins to black out. Her last thought before succumbing to oblivion is `Wow, I didn't know that she was that strong.' Then the world goes dark.

Well as for your first question. I believe that I answered that with this chapter. So you weren't wrong with that assumption at all.

Thank you for the comment about the confrontation between Usagi and Hotaru. I was hoping that it came off right and I guess it did, so thank you for letting me know.

No, I'm not going to have Makoto turn her back on Usa. I've been planning on something happening between Makoto and Usagi to show just how strong their friendship is, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do there. It might be the next chapter after setting up this last one the way I did, but you'll just have to wait and see.

Assentially yes, Shin is very young, but at the moment, Usagi was so angry that she wasn't thinking about Shin coming with them. I think I could've done that one a little better, but it worked just as well. So I hope that answers those questions about Shinzu going with Usagi and Haruka with them. Heh.

Yeah! Lol. I've been planning something like that, but then I decided to do a little twist first and have Rei saving Usagi from Mamoru. I don't want Usagi saving Rei all the time and thought that this would stir it up a little.

Lol. Yep and I hope that you enjoyed how I was able to pull it off for Usagi to be able to go into the hot springs. I actually asked a friend of mine for a little help with that one, because I just couldn't get my mind around how I could make it so that she could go in there and have it believeable as well.

Yeah there are parts of my life that I just help, but include in some stories because it's just funnier that way and I'm writing what I know. Lol.
