Part II

Ch. 4: Sanity Lost

"Well, from the looks of things, Sonic, your son won't be running for a good nine months. This platelet right here has jarred itself loose, the bone must have time to mend itself, if not, he may become paralyzed." said the doctor to Sonic, relaying the news Sonic had been dreading.

"I see..." Sonic replied bluntly with no emotion. His thoughts were running the show, Sonic felt like a man on the brink of disaster, yet, somehow, deep inside, he felt like he had already hit rock-bottom.

"Sonic, we better bring Amy over here, she needs medical attention, she was raped and she must be taken care of. If not, the baby might be born with no one to deliver it." said Tails.

"You're right, c'mon, Tails! We need to bring Amy here!" Sonic said, running down the flights of stairs towards the entrence.

"So, doc, whats her condition?" asked Sonic.

"Well...this is a most bizarre case here..." said the docter, his voice sounded like a man with no clue as what to do.

"Whats wrong with her?" asked Tails.

"You remember when you said that she had a baby from this rape? Well, it seems as though there is no baby in her, yet, she was fertile at the time of the rape, her vagina had been fully penetrated, she has many samples of male sperm in her, and I can tell you that I know the person who did this to her." said the doctor.

"Well, spit it out!!!!!!" Sonic yelled louder then he probably should've, because everyone in the hospital stared at him, causing Sonic to shrink (not literally!).

"Well, after doing some considerate research on the sperm, as well as the DNA samples, I have reached a positive identification of the culprit." said the doctor, as he led Sonic and Tails towards the computer screen.

After punching in a few buttons, the display came up.

"!" was the cry heard from both Sonic and Tails.

"It seems as though it is none other then the very same hedgehog that fought against that monster that nearly destroyed the Earth: Shadow the Hedgehog." the doctor finally announced to a stunned Sonic and Tails.

"Shadow?!" Sonic couldn't believe his ears or eyes, he knew Shadow too well, he knew he would never do such a thing to Amy, whom Shadow had the upmost concern for the safety of.

"It is the only logical explanation we have, Sonic, it is none other then, and I hate to admit this, Shadow." said the doctor, who had a tear falling from his eye.

"Sonic, we'd better go." Tails tried to encourage Sonic to leave, but when Sonic turned around, Tails saw a side of Sonic that he had never seen before: the look of a person that just lost his last ounce of sanity, a person who has all the intentions to kill. "Sonic!!!" Tails yelled at Sonic, giving Sonic a slap to the forehead, but that just pissed Sonic off even more as he directed his anger towards Tails.

"You! You are in league with Shadow!!" Sonic said with a voice so terrifying that even Tails couldn't recognize it being from Sonic.

"Sonic?!" Tails tried his best to comfort Sonic, but he got punched in the face instead. Tails hit the floor hard. Sonic looked at Tails' form on the ground, he had knocked him out cold with one punch; a Mike Tyson type of punch.

Sonic ran out of the hospital with rage in his eyes, and a want to kill something in his mind and concentration.

"Shadow!!!! I'm gonna kill you, you stupid son of a bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sonic ran all through the city, cursing at people, and laughing like a person possessed, he had lost his last ounce of sanity, and, when he saw Shadow's face in his mind, he got more pissed off then before.

Finally, after some extensive searching, Sonic finally arrived at Shadow's house, breaking the door down, and destroying everything in sight.

When Sonic could not find any trace of Shadow, he exploded (not literally!)

"SHADOW!!!!! COME OUT HERE AND FIGHT ME LIKE A MAN!!! YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!"

Sonic's yells echoed through the air, causing the wild animals to run scared out of their own socks of Sonic.

Sonic ran from the world, ran from the fact that he had lost his mind, he had hurt his best friend Tails, and, most of all, his son and girlfriend were hurt badly.

"Why...WHY ME?!?!?!?!" Sonic yelled out in hate and anger, cursing his very existence in the world.

After twenty good minutes of rage, his anger subsided and he was out like a light.

<Twenty-one hours later>

"Sonic?..."

After hearing this voice numerous times, Sonic awoke to seeing Tails and Amy next to him, he appeared to be in a hospital bed.

"Tails? Amy?" Sonic was baffled and confused at what just happened. At first, he thought he had dreamt it all, but then he saw Tails right eye: it was black and blue.

"Oh, no...Tails, I...I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Sonic broke down into sobs again, expecting his best friend and buddy to hate him. Instead, he got a hug and a smile from Tails.

"Its ok, I forgive you, Sonic." Tails said with a calmness that only he could have pulled off.

"So...you arent...mad at me?" Sonic said, still quite confused atn the situation.

"No, I'm not mad at you, I kno you did it out of rage, not out of free will." said Tails, who got a hug back from Sonic, who was now crying on his shoulder.

"Thank you, Tails! Thank you! These events have really taken their toll on me...Amy, I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me the most!" Sonic said, pleading Amy with his best effort, and, unknown to Sonic, Amy had already forgiven him, and she gave him a kiss on the forehead.

"Its ok, Sonic, I forgive you too." said Amy calmly.

"Thank you, Amy! Thank you, Tails! I swear, what would I do without friends like you?" Sonic said, his voice for the first time since the entire incident unfolded, happily.

"Thats what friends are for! To be there when you need someone the most! Of course, no one is perfect, not even you, Sonic. Lets move on, and forget this ever happend, eh?" Tails said, trying to get Sonic's mind out of the gutter and back into the happier days.

"Sure, whatever you say, buddy!" Sonic replied, and, after a few good hours of waiting, got the "ok" for Sonic to leave the hospital.

Meanwhile, at Robotnicks lair, things were only getting worse, as the baby hedgehog was no longer a baby, but a six year old, through genetic enhancment and age progression, very fast hedgehog, given enough speed to dust Sonic two times over.

The new creation was given the name Sonic II. The hedgehog had been fitted with a number of mechanical features as well, but Eggman limited greatly the amount of mechanics in the creature. He had seen all too often in the past that his creations lacked natural qualities, and had too much robotic qualities.

Sonic II had been given claws like Mecha Monic's (makes more sense if you've read "A New Threat 2")

Sonic II had been given armor plating that was strong enough to withstand Sonic's super-form

Sonic II had been given shoes that gave him twice the speed of Sonic himself.

The claws, armor and speed were the only things enhanced by Robotnick, the rest was completly natural.

"Now, Sonic II, the glorious time has come! The day when, finally, I defeat that accursed Sonic the Hedgehog!!" Eggman said, his plan finally finished, and the only part left was finishing off Sonic to make the plan 100% successful.
