CHAPTER SIX

DAWN OF THE SECOND DAY

-48 hours remain

Another beautiful day in the distant past, and the heroes only had two more days before they would have to head home. The night went by smoothly, the night guards reported that no enemies had appeared. Still, the warriors and the titans weren't fooled and refused to let their guard down.

They still took time out to enjoy themselves in the village, especially Beast Boy and Terra. They were taking a morning stroll through town, hand-in-hand. Beast Boy also felt just a little uncomfortable about one girl, roughly his age. Her name was Nicolo and she was orphaned a while ago when her father was killed in a battle, and her mother had been dead for a long time. She and her little brother, Amano, were often mocked, and ridiculed by a few of the richer girls in town, which was really not fair to either of them.

What made Beast-Boy uncomfortable besides the fact that Nicolo and Amano were having this trouble, was the fact that Nicolo had been giving Beast Boy flirting winks, and she ever giggled a little whenever he gazed back at her and hid her face behind her sheet-veil.

Beast Boy whished she wouldn't do that, and Terra didn't like it either and showed hints of jealousy, but over what. He was her husband and he was going to stay that way.

As they walked along their way they could here a ruckus going on in the market. “Hmm! Can't a married couple have a walk in peace?” Beast-Boy sneered.

“I know, right?” added Terra. Still, they decided to check it out, and it turned out to be little Ammo, who was out shopping for his sister and he was cornered by five older girls who loved to bully him and his sister.

They called him names, insulted the soul of his dead father, and even shoved him a little. Beast Boy and Terra were livid to see this and wondered why no one of higher authority was doing anything about it.

Finally, when Amano was scolded by the venders of the stands for causing trouble, when it clearly wasn't his fault, and poor little Amano walked empty handed away, Beast-boy decided, “That's it! I'm going to do something about this…!”

He urged Terra to stay behind a she changed into a little rodent and slipped near the girls. “A MOUSE!!” The girls screamed in panic, and the venders jumps up onto crates and barrels.

Beast Boy changed back into his normal self and sneered at the cowardly bullies. “So, you like to pick on little guys, huh? Well why don't you pick on me?”

The commotion finally brought the guards out, and as they saw the whole thing, and knew the venders and the girls were being mean to Amano, and they were all arrested and brought to Sarasim's hut to decide their punishment for disturbing the peace, and being uncouth to fellow villagers.

Beast Boy stood tall, smug, and proud as he clap-wiped his hands. “That was my good deed for the day.”

Terra dashed up to her husband and pecked him passionately, but shortly after which Amano came up with his sister to thank Beast-Boy personally. As was expected, Nicolo was acting shy and trying to hide her rosy cheeks. This only made Terra's head throb, but she Nicolo practically begged Beast Boy to let her repay him for helping her little brother, and herself. So they were invited to their hut for brunch, and Beast Boy just couldn't turn down fans. Terra was going to so nothing funny would happen to her husband.

As for the other titans, the day went smoothly… Almost too smoothly.

Robin would every little while check with the sentries at the gates of the village, and every time the men reported that nothing was coming. This struck Robin as odd, “Krall has the information he needs, so why doesn't he come after us?”

Starfire thought of that too, but she decided it was best that Krall hadn't come yet. She liked it better when there was no fighting. “A beautiful village such as this should never be in such peril.” She would always say. Robin knew how she felt, but still, watches and guarding would carry on.

Sarasim liked this too. It meant that she could spend a little more time in her village, which put her in mind that in less than two days she'd be leaving forever.

She felt she needed to be a lone for a moment, so she climbed onto the observation-tower to overlook her entire village and the land beyond on the other side. It looked so beautiful in the mid morning light as always as she remembered.

Cyborg was out in the sunlight charging his batteries at the foot of the tower, when he gazed directly up and saw her. Though Sarasim wasn't looking down, “Cyborg, I know you are there. Will you please join me?”

Cyborg joined her on the tower and admired the view, and he could tell straight away that she was feeling down and why, but there no need for the same pep talk all over again. Sarasim knew she would be doing the right thing, for her people, for Cyborg, and especially herself.

There was however one thing on her mind she was a little nervous about. “Cyborg…?”

“Yeah…?”

She hesitated but just couldn't find the words she was looking for. “Never mind.” Whatever it was she wanted to ask him, it had to be big.
