CHAPTER EIGHT

Beast Boy indeed woke up feeling wild and shocked the fact that he had just married another woman. The worst part was there wasn't really anything he could do about it. The customs of the village were ambiguous, and despite the fact that he and Terra were married, on a technicality, not for anther five-thousand years. All they could do now was just ride it out and see what happened…

As for Beast Boy, he began to get that goofy smug on his face again. “Lucky me…” he joked. “I have two wives.”

As funny, and somewhat ridiculous as it was, the Titans and Sarasim held a secret meeting in Sarasim's hut to discuss Robin's plans for a sneak-up on Krall…

Since Krall and the witch still operated from the same location, in a cavern on the cliffs, it was decided to send one of the titans to investigate and spy. It would help serve to gain some information.

At first Raven was suggested to go, since she was good at hiding, but this was quickly refused as Raven was the only way for them to get home and she would be safer and much more needed in the village.

Copy-Cat was the better, and the most logical choice, and he agreed to go. However, he did decide to make things sneakier by copying Sarasim, hopefully to distract Krall.

“But what if you are captured and we cannot contact you?” asked Starfire. She had a point. Being in the distant past, there were no satellites and no booster-stations. The Titan's communicators could only reach as much as a quarter of a mile, and Krall's hide out was much farther away than that.

“Do not worry, Starfire.” Copy-Cat assured her, “Remember, Raven and I can communicate telepathically. There is less likely to be any danger.”

Raven nodded in agreement, and with that, the plan was set. Copy-Cat would leave at sundown as he would stand a better chance in the dark. Now both and Raven had to meditate for as long as they could to focus their abilities.

By sundown, Copy-Cat was ready to head out…

NIGHT OF THE SECOND DAY

-36 Hours Remain.

Copy-Cat had copied Sarasim, was fully armored, and armed, and seated on horseback since he lost his ability to fly. Finally, he removed his Robin's mask, and exchanged it for a helmet. “I wish you luck, Copy-Cat.” Sarasim bid him.

“Remember, man… don't take too long, we're runnin' outta' time.” added Cyborg.

Copy-Cat bid his friends his thanks and then he headed off into the night. “Now all we do… is wait.” said Sarasim.

The tension was really starting to mount among the heroes and the village. Whatever Krall was planning could only be coming very shortly, and once Copy-Cat had gathered some information, it would time to charge.

Sarasim was feeling a mixture of feelings, fear, worry, and also brave, bold, prepared… but above all things, she felt nervous about something even greater to her than the war, and it still concerned Cyborg.

She was still thinking about it very deeply when she was by herself in the tower as she watched the stars. Cyborg came up when he could see her and brought her a drink. “The guards told me I'd find ya here.” he said.

Sarasim took the water from him, and asked him to stay with her for company, but this only seemed to make her feel more nervous. Cyborg merely thought she was upset because time was running out and they'd be going back to the future soon, but that was only part of it…

Sarasim admitted that though she was indeed looking forward to returning with Cyborg, “What if something were to happen to me during these final hours?” she asked “What if I were not to survive?”

Cyborg realized that it was possibility, and thought it wouldn't cause far too much trouble in the changes of history, Cyborg didn't want to think of that either. Even though Sarasim was originally supposed to die to save her people, he knew that he and the others wouldn't let that happen.

“Sarasim… I don't how things are gonna turn out, but if anything happened to you… I… well… I don't think I could ever forgive myself.”

Sarasim was twiddling her fingers nervously again. “Cyborg… I… I have had much though of this, and if I were to die… I would die happily knowing my last fulfillment had been achieved.”

“What's that?” Cyborg asked as he sipped the water.

Sarasim summoned up all he courage she had and finally let it out, “Cyborg… would you agree to be my mate in wedlock?”

Cyborg choked on the water, coughing and hacking in shock. “Say what now…?!”

Sarasim expected he would act this way, and she was somewhat feeling like that herself. Though she only knew so much about Cyborg, and had hardly even considered herself to be worthy of him. She cared very deeply for him, and was forever in his debt for all the things he was doing for her.

Still, there was also a custom in Sarasim's village that told of how the leader, if a woman, would one day marry the strongest soldier of her choosing, and to Sarasim, Cyborg was the strongest.

Cyborg didn't know what to think. To him this was so sudden. Sure he loved Sarasim, and he was good with ladies, but marry her…? MARRY HER?!?! What kind of husband would he be?

He could offer her protection, but what else? A home she wasn't accustomed too? A world where every single object will be a mystery?

Sarasim didn't like the struggle features on Cyborg's face, and she believed that she had upset him. “I will leave you then…” she said sounding grim, but as she got up to leave, he grabbed her by the arm, “No…” Then he turned to face her and smiled bravely. “…I'll do it.”

Sarasim smiled and a small tear leaked down her face, and they shared a passionate kiss.

Later that night, as they didn't have much time to plan anything so big, and Sarasim did not wish to arouse the village. The best thing to do was perform a small ceremony and very quiet Ceremony in Cyborg's hut, with only the Noblemen of the village performing the ritual, and the other titans, except for Copy-Cat.

The five titans were sitting on the ground with the legs crossed. Starfire had tears in her eyes, and Beast Boy and Terra didn't feel too comfortable, but none of them could be happier for their friends.

Sarasim was dressed in a tribal skirt, toga, and a headband with sacred ribbons handing off of one side, and Cyborg was wearing merely a ritual-cloak with his own headband. A sacred fire was roaring and the noblemen quietly performed the ceremony.

Cyborg couldn't believe this was happening to him but… it was. Sarasim was now his wife… at least in this time era.
